payment of $3.98, they put an extra $11 to pay it off, after a $125 Discharge fee and $370.11 deferred interest fee. Be careful to take out a loan with Liberty, they add extra costs to pay off a vehicle. Please be very careful, I have worked with heaps of financial companies, and have never experienced this rip off.

Beware of loan discharge delays. On payout of my car loan I received an email advising the encumbrance on the vehicle had been removed and I would receive a discharge letter in 5-7 business days. Don’t use Liberty. Quick to approve, slowest for discharge – Just keep in mind that liberty take 3-5 business days to process a loan closure after payment have been receipted and the loan marked as closed in your online account. Most other lenders take around 24-48hrs max. Left me without a car for 5 days.

was not approved. Not only did they take away these requests the Friday and said they weren't required and just needed confirmation of my living situation, they put all these hoops up again. Stay well clear of this shady business – Had a loan with liberty and got a payout figure from one if their call centre staff. One year later it was still encumbered apparently there was a break fee that they did not charge me for . Just bad dodgy practices and have reported them to the financial ombudsman. Frustrating – I paid out my car loan on the 17th February. I was provided a payout amount, and that figure showed uncleared funds. I did as instructed and removed the uncleared funds from the payout figure. this and thought I owed that amount so I contacted them to ask. The gentleman on the phone stated that they owed me $417 and that would come back to my account soon.

I then called again a few days later to enquire about the difference between the $641 in the dashboard and the $417. As the settlement figure I paid already had me paying the fees, my understanding would be that if I was in advance the $641, I should get the $641 back. The lady on the phone stated that the difference was towards the payout fees - again made no sense but I ended the call to ask a family member to help me understand.

I called on the 3rd March in the evening to ask for an update on the closure and return of funds. I was informed the finance team had not even picked up my account to process for closing. That’s 10 business days and they hadn’t even looked at it?! I was also again informed that the $417 would be coming soon, she was going to personally contact the financial team on Monday morning and call me back. I did not receive a call until Monday afternoon, whereby a gentleman on the phone rang to tell me that although I was thinking they owed me $417 they did not and everything was evened out. I corrected him explaining that initially I believed everything was closed out and it was them on three seperate occasions whom informed me that they owed me the monies. How dan so many people be so incompetent at the financial equations in a finance company???? Why give false information??? And what takes 11 business days to settle an account???

I am currently having someone else look over the documents properly to ensure everything is above board, however even if it is, I won’t be using this company again based on their pure and utter incompetence at the end

Settlement taking for ever – If you want a fast settlement keep away from here still waiting for my settlement since last Friday and the worst thing is they don’t have a instant transfer for private sellers so I need to wait another day before I get my car and that’s if I get it if they decide to action the settlement

balance of $950 I decide to pay it all, rather than wait another month for the final payment.So I pay $1000. They then advise me that I now owe them another $400, as to what, who knows. The remaining balance stated that a $950 was remaining and then they pull this rabbit out of their hat. Liberty please review your Services – Im current customer with Liberty, have 5k owing on Car loan currently in front on my loan by 2k, want to upgrade my vehicle and asking for extra 3k to cover shortfall. Has been rejected because I pay child support. I asked the question if I was to cover the short fall of 3k for the vehicle upgrade could the 5k loan that i have be transferred over to new car. No loyalty to customers – Loyalty is a one-way relationship with this company. After two loans over 5 years, settled in full and never a missed payment, I was declined for my new car because of the method I choose to pay my electricity bill. A drawn out process and lengthy delays between contact.
