either via text or email), I received inconsistent communication and no clear timeframe for refund. The bond was only returned because I lodged a chargeback with my bank (I also escalated the matter to Consumer Affairs Victoria).
If hiring through this company, I would strongly recommend:
* ensure you sign an agreement before paying any hire or deposit fee *documenting the vehicle thoroughly at pickup/return *keeping all communication in writing *and understanding your chargeback rights with your bank if a refundable bond is not returned promptly. My bank escalated on my behalf and the $2k was returned in less than a week from lodgement
Unfortunately I think this company hopes that people give up chasing their bond, to enable them to keep it. Shady business practice. Before I proceeded with the hire, I even called [Name Removed] to voice my concerns after reading some online reviews. His explanation gave me confidence to proceed, I should've followed my gut instinct.

Great experience – My experience with using lux car rentals was a pleasure. Agreed mustang was sitting clean and proud waiting for me, was a thrill to drive for 2 days. Wheel Scratched – If you are hiring the grey Ferrari California make sure you check for the scratch on the front left wheel before you take it out!
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! – This company needs to be shut down and person held accountable. This place may seem legitimate but it’s all a scam. You will not get the vehicle and all the positive reviews are done by selected people. For the sake of your time and money I would recommend avoiding this company both in Sydney and Melbourne. Do not hire – At the last minute the Porche boxter I booked wasn't available. I suspect the photos I were sent were of someone else's car and the car advertised was a 'ghost car'. Reading everyone else's experience in trying to get their money back, I put the pressure on him and only after going to the ACCC and Fairtrade did he refund the money. Stay away, its not worth it. Another victim of Lux Rentals – Got 75% of bond returned. Car and the pickup/delivery service was second rate although the make model and colour was right. rented the Porsche Boxster on June 19th to 21st with [name removed] for a surprise drive up to Mudgee for my partner. The car is absolutely brilliant and we had a wonderful time. Customer service was above and beyond. Lux Sports Car delivered our car to Bondi Beach at the time arranged to provide a proper surprise. In Mudgee, we called [name removed] for questions on the car and he readily answered to assist us, as well as was generous with the mileage. We drove the car home where pick up was already arranged.
Was the bond and other payment handled well? Payment was collected with ease and I am awaiting the return of the bond.
Was the vehicle you received the same one that you booked or were expecting? Exactly the same as the photos.
What did you use the vehicle for? Did it meet your needs? The vehicle met our needs 100%. I definitively recommend Lux Sports Car Rental and will definitively use them again!

not looking in to the reviews before booking with them. [name removed] is a dodgy operator. There are other companies that rent cars, if they have a real office then that’s probably better than this sham operation. Do not use this company.
Great Cars and Service – Cars arrived on time as promised, kept in good communication before the booking. Really fantastic cars. We rented the Austin Martin DB11, C63 and Porsche Boxster. The DB11 was a weapon and so much fun to drive in the hills of Melbourne. The C63 was a rocket ship! The Porsche is a drivers car, hugs the road and was a lot of fun. Terrible – My mate and I hired cars from this company, we both paid a $10k bond. The bonds have not been returned after countless calls and texts. There is always an excuse, the guys lie that much they forget what crap they told you the last time you called. For your own sanity stay right away. Google are fakes! The “manager” [name removed] and “receptionist” [name removed] are very dodgy people. This company has nothing except shiny website. They do not have office and the address in Melbourne on Collins Street is just shared office space and you never find them there. They do not have a garage and particular space to pick up and drop off the car. They are using public or private spaces of other companies for it like pub car park or Park Hyatt hotel parking. They do not accept payments from credit cards! Why? Because you can lodge a disputed transaction and get your money back through the bank. So they forth you pay them by money transfer only. Still want to rent and take a risk? Then before giving them any money just meet them in their shared office space on Collins Street, look at their faces and ask them about the reason why they cannot use credit cards which are very common even for small businesses. Do that, spend another hour or two but you save your money and hours of you time in future by chasing them to get your deposit back!

told they were too busy to let me know they were running late. The car was blue not red as ordered, and there was only street parking to leave my car in. I cancelled immediately so fortunately they hadnt got their hands on our deposit yet. Very unprofessional and disappointing.
Horrible experience – You won't get your deposit back, if you rent from them lodge the bond/security deposit using a credit card so you can lodge a disputed transaction and get your money back through the bank when they withhold it and stop answering calls. Make sure you take photos of the vehicle when you collect it including the mileage and when you return it as evidence to prove you did no damage and didn't exceed the km's you get with the rental.
