Fast, efficient, cost-effective. Had a big diesel motor transported from bluff to hobsonville Auckland. They collected engine Thursday afternoon and was in my possession Monday. Paid for a delivery from Victoria to my house. Truck driver rang said he was to deliver and did we have a forklift. No, this is a house. Next day driver rang to deliver and did we have a forklift. their depot, followed all instructions, called when I arrived, gave them my shipping number, waited 10 minutes, nothing. Called again gave them my shipping number, waited 20 minutes nothing. 10 minutes lates I gave my shipping number to a forklift driver, never to be seen again. A further 10 minutes, gave my shipping number to a second fork lift driver, never to be seen again. 10 minutes later a third forklift driver asked for my shipping number and Shazam, he appeared with my goods, loaded it onto my Ute. The load was 3m by 1.8 m and 102 kgs. 50 minutes later I drove out of the gate. I got home and unloaded the freight myself. I am 76 yrs old and 79kgs. Next time I will carry the load on my shoulders rather than use this mob again. Staff were pleasant but the service was pathetic. As I have paid for the goods to be delivered to my house I will expect a refund of the transport cost.

Appalling service. They were the delivery service employed by Loughlin Furniture in NSW for the delivery of an expensive custom made bed and couldn't figure out how to transport up the driveway, so ripped all the protective custom packaging off and dumped on common property and left it there, and dumped the custom order in the weather and in site… Read more
of the street for anyone to hamper with or take. AND then they took no responsibility - for this privilege - I paid over $300 and they refused a refund - AND no apology - DONT USE, YOU WILL REGRET! All our other bulky and heavy deliveries made by other courier companies were safely, carefully and thoughtfully placed in our carport, as we requested MAINFREIGHT to do!
Damage to property during delivery – Paid over $600 for tail lift delivery of a 100kg item. Item was left at their depot for several days until I poked someone as to why there was a delay. During delivery, the driver decided to use one of my gym flooring mats as ramp for his mini forklift, which ripped up the mat. The company has refused me compensation. If you find out someone is using these people to deliver your item, I would recommend requesting someone else. Show details
Perfect delivery of a big item – Had a fixture table, which is in all essence, a 1 tonne block of cast iron with precision machined spacings and flat surface. Perhaps not a delicate item, but one that needs to be respected. tonne, that arrived in perfect condition, for the price is amazing. The driver was a really good bloke, courtious, and attentive asking me how and where I wanted the truck for unloading. We had a good laugh while I forked the load off for him. 6 star service all around. I wanted to leave this review as most people only take the time to write bad reviews. We don't take the time to write good reviews, for good service.
Worst delivery experience of my life! – Never use Mainfreight if you care about receiving your delivered goods in one piece. My mattress arrived wet with new stains, my microwave smashed and my chair is bent out of shape with holes in it. Not to mention the poor communication, unilateral cancelling of pick ups at the last minute, reneging of contract conditions and rude customer service over the phone. A very disappointing experience. Do not use these couriers if you can possibly avoid them – I ordered a shed from Easy Shed in Albury on the 30th of November. It was picked up by Mainfreight on the 2nd December and it sat in their Epping Depot until Easy Shed finally managed to nag them to drop it off to where I was picking it up from...21 minutes away from their main Depot. from on the 21st of January, the courier remarking to the staff at the drop point that 'this must be a rush job'...
...no, this was a job I have planned to be done while I was on leave over Christmas/New Year.
I have been working and didn't get to pick up the shed until today. It was stored under cover at the drop point and the staff member pointed out the damage was all done prior to it arriving.
The box is ripped and someone with very large dirty feet has walked across the flatpack.
The contents (so far) seem to be ok. I have pulled everything out of the box and if they are unscathed it is a miracle.
I've had some shocking courier experiences, this rates with the absolute worst.
That should have been "I have NOT pulled everything out of the box and if they are unscathed it is a miracle."

I recently used Mainfreight for a container delivery and return, and unfortunately the experience was very poor. After advising Mainfreight that we would handle the container return ourselves, we were not informed that a Containerchain booking was required for the nominated depot (Medlog WA). When we raised the issue, Mainfreight accepted no responsibility, despite failing to communicate an essential step in the process. We have also had to chase up a refund for delivery fees on a service they did not perform.
The lack of clear communication, accountability, and timely resolution was very disappointing for a company of this size. I would strongly recommend that anyone using Mainfreight double-check every procedural detail in writing before relying on their advice or documentation
As at today’s yet we have yet to receive a refund, and are being consistently given dates in the future for it to be “reviewed” with no actual indication of a reason for the delay or when it will be processed.
Should the customer service team refute this I will be happy to provide photos of emails proving otherwise.

This unexpected turn in our dealings has been disappointing, especially considering the prior good rapport. I would recommend prospective customers inquire specifically about Mainfreight's liability policies regarding freight transport prior to utilizing their services. Furthermore, the communication from Mainfreight concerning the damages was inadequate, ultimately resulting in substantial financial implications for my company. Mostly good - although the phone rang out every time and it took weeks to get delivered. This was the lead up to Christmas though. I was the the first delivery of 2026 and the employees were cheerful and communication was good. Make sure you sign up for the notifications- you can do that pretty easily on their website with your tracking number. Show details

Delivered the good but take no responsibility for damage to garage… – They got my solar set up to me in one piece but damaged me new garage door and took no responsibility for the issue. They said it was the driver’s fault and not their problem and since the driver had gone to India, there was nothing they could do. Very poor company. Lucky they didn't come right into my little place with their boots on – I had my bed delivered today fast delivery but wasn't impressed that the two guys stepped into my lounge with their boots on I use to drive trucks and do house deliveries as well I never wore my boots in anyone's house disrespectful not to mention I have new carpet so other customers do to so do the right thing and show respect by removing any wet or dirty footwear. rude and dangerous behavior – Had a 3 pallets of gear to be delivered at my place. It was very heavy and luckily my friend and me were here to help with the delivery. and we can deal with the rest but he was very reluctant in doing it and wanted to drop all the gear in the middle of the road.
There was not enough space on the driveway for the 3rd pallet so we had to unload it by hand. While carrying a box with him, he almost pushed me to death out of the truck. I told him to stop but he wouldn't do it. I also asked him to be careful with the boxes because it's fragile but he wouldn't listen and drop them like a bag of sand.
Unhelpful driver – Today they delivery a BBQ to our house, driver left my wife with a 650 kg pallet on the side of the road. We do have a steep driveway but we have had concrete trucks, large open deck trucks and even a pool delivered up the driveway. Drive just carried on about insurance, no Ozzie can do attitude, just it a too hard attitude.Very disappointing. Show details
Hopeless – Have had items delivered to Adelaide via Mainfreight. Arranged to go pick up items Saturday 25th arrived at 10.00am was given a number to quote for pick-up only to be told they were closed for a party on arrival. JUST DON’T – I’m a business which ships large fragile items. We put all our items on palettes so nothing is handled via hand and no chance for damages. A simple forklift on and off job. After many hours, polite experienced humans – I was looking at returning a an difficult to send item I purchased to China. After spending many hours trying multiple companies, I finally got through to Mainfreight Brisbane. I couldn't believe how helpful and friendly the staff were. Shocking – Absolutely diabolical service. Late or actually never arrived. After being a week late, we were sent to Erskine Park to pick up ourselves and on arrival sent to Preston's to pick up and on arrival they did not know where it was. My partner was home so I’m so lucky he called! Tem then walked up my steep driveway instead of driving up my driveway in the truck, and he executed the delivery perfectly! 30+ Year User of Mainfreight – I have used Mainfreight (personally) for 19 years and my Company for 30+ Years. Our freight is delivered in a timely fashion ( Sydney to Melbourne/Brisbane overnight) and damages are minimal). Mainfreight's niche area is large, "ugly" freight, fork on - fork off, and they do this with extreme professionalism. Absolute terrible service – Items to be delivered to home was in their store for 7 days. Got an text to book my delivery date, done that just to get a phone call on the day that the delivery is to take place stating that they do not deliver in my area on those days. Shockingly bad service – I have had a large parcel sent through Mainfreight. It's now been 10 days of it sitting in their depot. No phone call from them. When phoning them myself they have told me I can either come to pick it up myself or it will not be delivered for at least another two weeks or more. If you can, definitely choose another company.
