photos and report, at least in part.

So we got the inspector back again with some roofing plumbers to open up the roof so the inspector could have a good look and photograph the many defects in the boundary wall that is supposed to be a firewall but does not meet minimum fire safety standards.

Thanks to Manse Group’s report, the builder has rectified many of the cheaper defects on this house including performing what I believe is structural work to rectify a defect on the south side of the roof. However, the builder refuses to comply with the building permit and refuses to reconstruct the boundary wall to comply with the building permit.

The Manse Group guy said that Manse Group does reports for VCAT. Because the builder has conducted some repairs we’ll have to get him back out one more time to check everything over before he does the VCAT style write up.

I am so grateful to Manse Group for their professionalism and attention to detail. The inspector we’ve dealt with may not be a lawyer and he may not know everything (he recommended we get a fire engineer in but no one reputable will touch the job) but he’s honest, diligent and has attention to detail.

professional approach provided a significant shift in dynamic and tangible actions agreed to by the site supervisor and were reflected in an updated report. Jay also made a point of referring to me as the client and referring to me in relation to decisions and agreement to the proposed actions. It was a very empowering experience that made me feel more engaged with the build and less isolated. At the same time Jay created a constructive framework for the site supervisor to buy-in to actions to address the outstanding defects. I’m not saying everything was just fixed and on track but it was a really positive encounter to build a better working relationship with my site supervisor and better outcomes for our build. This is our first house build. We don’t have any construction background. We spent time talking about having an independent inspector for our build and I spent a lot of time reading about people’s experiences with and without. I spent time researching companies in this space. I was hoping I had done what was needed to set us up to be able to manage issues during this process.

From contract review all the way through, the reports have been very helpful, clear, concise and insightful. Even taking into account the helpful responses to calls and emails, my lack of knowledge and experience means there is a real level of vulnerability in being able to effectively engage on building related issues at the time.

But that particular re-inspection mentioned above elevated the value of an inspector of Jay’s calibre to help shift things on to a better trajectory.

would not have had the positive outcome we finally got without the Manse Group. Jay provided us with everything we needed to argue major problems with our builder. Jay has saved us many years of ongoing problems and a lot of money that we would have to have paid out in the future because of our builders poor attitude. Jay was so professional, very kind and no question we asked him went unanswered. Jay was such a lovely young man who was so friendly, honest, so easy to talk to and whom we ended up trusting implicitly. We felt Jay saved our build and our sanity as our builder did not care and tried to cut multiple corners with shoddy workmanship. Jay genuinely cared and he showed it. Jay was always in our corner, supporting us, giving us the knowledge to stand up to our builder and the reassurance we needed as we had never built before. Dane undertook a house inspection at our request to investigate two specific defects. He was clearly very competent and professional. Whilst his report took several weeks to produce it was highly detailed and provided an excellent baseline from which reparation works could be planned and executed. We would recommend anyone who is considering building a new home to engage Manse to provide independent inspections. We have definitely ended up with a better build due to this great service…. well worth the cost!

The way I look at it is that I've potentially saved myself $xx,xxx's, as hopefully avoided the inconvenience of having to get repairs & maintenance down the track.
