Based on these representations, I understood the report would assist me in progressing my claim and disputing the insurer's proposed scope and costs. Unfortunately, my insurer, Youi, refused to accept the report, advising that it required a quotation from a builder who would undertake the repairs. Youi also confirmed that its own trades were unwilling to warrant the proposed works due to issues with the existing patio roof. When I raised my concerns with Owner Inspections, I had hoped they would work with me to explore practical solutions, particularly given the significant cost of the report and the difficulties I was experiencing with my insurer. Instead, their response was that confirming the insurer's documentation requirements was my responsibility and that they had delivered the service agreed upon. They suggested I provide their report to a builder to assist with preparing a separate quotation. From my perspective, once payment had been received and the report delivered, Owner Inspections appeared to wash their hands of the situation. I did not feel they were willing to provide the practical assistance I had expected from a company whose website promotes support with insurance claims and disputes. I acknowledge that an independent assessment and a builder's quotation are different services, and that Owner Inspections cannot control an insurer's decisions. However, I am disappointed that the potential limitations of the report were not made clear to me before I committed to spending approximately $7,000, and that the response to my concerns did not offer a meaningful resolution. I am now potentially facing further costs to obtain documentation that my insurer will accept, despite already having paid a substantial amount for an independent assessment intended to support my claim. My advice to anyone considering Owner Inspections is to obtain written confirmation from your insurer that the proposed report and cost estimate will be accepted for your intended purpose before proceeding. Clarify exactly what the service includes, what assistance is available if the insurer rejects the report, and whether a separate builder's quotation may still be required. Based on my experience, I would be reluctant to recommend Owner Inspections to others dealing with a disputed insurance claim.

My only constructive feedback is that, as a first home buyer, I would have appreciated more verbal guidance and recommendations after the inspection. This may have been partly because I didn’t know the right questions to ask, and to be fair, Heny was happy to speak with me when I contacted him.

However, some proactive feedback—such as how the property’s overall condition compares with similar property, would have given me even more confidence in my decision.

Overall, the quality of the inspection and report was excellent, and the company was very responsive and easy to deal with. I would definitely recommend Owner Inspections to anyone, especially if you’re looking for a thorough pre-purchase inspection. The customer service was really bad. I asked them what was included in the quote and they said everything and then asked extra later once payment had gone through for adding things they said were included over the call. They didn’t even give a refund for the misunderstandijg even though everything was recorded on the call.

This company’s conduct has been nothing less than a disgrace. They are effectively in bed with the builder, working against the interests of the client they claim to serve. defects with plasterboard. This wasn’t an honest inspection process — it was a calculated cover-up that protects the builder’s shoddy workmanship and leaves the client completely exposed.

Telling me to arrange a reinspection after the mistakes were concealed is a sick joke and exposes the company as complicit in this charade. They’ve done nothing to hold the builder accountable — instead, they’ve actively enabled the “mafia builder” to rip me off while wasting my time and money.

I have reported this matter to NSW Fair Trading and recommend anyone considering their services think twice before trusting a company that clearly prioritises builders over their clients.

These guys were great. Easy to work with. I only did the final inspection. Actually didn’t realise they did stages. I’m so naive! I managed to be on site and he was great showing me bits that need doing. I had 2 storey so well worth doing the drone. Thank goodness for technology now eh. I hope they reduced there prices once they started using them. No ladders etc.
