Continual problems – Originally bought this with a view to replacing my aging Delonghi non pod automatic coffee maker. Not long after purchase it was leaving grounds in the coffee and eventually stopped dispensing any coffee. It appeared that the pods were not getting pierced properly and pump pressure built up to the extent that it was really difficult to pull the… Read more

eject lever up. Had it repaired under warranty and was told the bit that pierced the pod had come off (which I now think was a bit of a tale). Went back to the old Delonghi and have had the Saeco shelved for over 12 months. Started using it again a few days ago and after half a dozen cups had the same coffee dispensing problems again. As it was no longer under warranty I pulled it apart myself and diagnosed the issue as a siezed piston in the brew unit. Pulled this apart cleaned it out and lubricated the O ring and it is now working ok. Dismantling it though is no easy job and I suspect the cost of having it performed by a repair agent would not be cost effective. Possibly a by product of the piston issue but it also seems to go through a lot of water with the catch tray filling up very quickly. On the positive side, when it works it makes a pretty decent coffee. I could probably blame the latest fault on a lack of use, but the first instance happened very soon after new so I would be hard pressed to recommend this unit to anyone. The convenience of Pods and the auto milk frothing initially made this machine attractive, particularly for the price paid. This exercise though has only convinced me to stick with another auto grind bean machine with a manual frother. I have a new Delonghi unit on its way and will not miss this Saeco machine.

Faulty & terrible service – We have gone through two replacements in two years. However we are currently trying to get the latest replaced and dealing with Phillips and Kogan are impossible. I will never ever buy from either store again and hopefully this review saves someone else all the hassle we have had. The machine starts off okay, but then very quickly breaks down - even when only used 3/4 times a week. Stay clear!!!!  Show details

Easy to use and a cheap coffee machine – Coffee tastes fantastic , I bought it from costco for a $100, wasn't to sure how good it would be. Shocked that it was that good for the price. caffitaly pods can be used in it. Even the Aldi brand pods fit. Love how it heats the milk. For price it's a good machine.  Show details

Started off amazing – The machine was fantastic when we first got it from their own website, when it was on sale at the time. However, with regular use and semi regular cleaning, which involves taking the machine apart (not difficult, just a hassle), the brews were getting worse and worse. Slowly, more and more coffee grounds started escaping the machine and wound up… Read more

in the coffee itself. We've only bought the MAP pods that are suggested, but this problem has gotten so bad to the point of some espressos being sludgy now.

Used everyday! – I've been using this for about 11month everyday, has been very reliable and consistent! However recently we had an issue with some water leaking at the bottom, this looks like it's to do with the seating of the water filler. Make sure the water filler is seated perfectly. The service sequence is fairly easy to follow but I can never remember what buttons to press, so make sure not to misplace your manual.  Show details

Decent coffee – It wasn't that easy to use for me. Make sure you keep the booklet that comes with the machine. I tend to forget how to make coffee on this thing. The coffee does not beat barista coffee but is good for a quick fix. Not too hard to clean the machine. Very minimal parts.  Show details

Not bad, could be better – Not a bad coffee machine, it has a good range of coffee pods available. Easy to clean, the only drawback is that it really only makes a smallish coffee. To get a decent size mug you have to use 2pods or else you get a over extracted watered down bitter coffee taste.  Show details

Great for the price – Easy to use and easy to programme to suit any size mug, and type of drink (latte, cappuccino, black etc. A huge selection of pods can be purchased which fit this machine, so something for every taste. Drinks come out nice and hot too, and really frothy milk. The milk section can be hard to clean with all the tubing, but if flushed after every use,… Read more

makes life easier. Looks classy and only a small footprint on the kitchen bench. Available in various colours to suit most decors too!

Good coffee maker for the price – Very easy to use and the coffee is of a good quality. Would like a bit more froth on the milk but am very happy to have an automatic machine that includes milk dispensing. I had a Moda Mio machine and had to froth milk separately. I died (after many years of service) so I looked into different options at a good price. I worried about getting this… Read more

as there are some negative reviews here - but also some good ones. I went ahead and purchased through Kogan as it had the best price. Very happy I did. I use it a several times a week making 2 coffees at a time and then storing the milk jug in the fridge. I have had it for a month now with no problems and no leaking from the bottom. I do always give it a clean after by running some water through it. I like this machine. Better froth would have given it 5 stars

Kogan let me down – Did it make coffee, NO, FAULTY from day dot, contacted Phillips as be user manual and they advised to return it so I contacted Kogan and got the ball rolling on sending it back, 4 weeks later they advised me it was indeed faulty, I worked that out in 5 mins and they are out of stock so I asked how long before they get one in, no answer and that… Read more

was 2 weeks ago, so it has been nearly 8 weeks and still do not have a working coffee machine I have paid for, so beware of Kogan .... not happy!

great coffee machine for a great deal – This machine makes great coffees, and uses capsules you can get easily at the supermarkets. Its easy to clean, and very easy to use. There are a lot of extra features that can be adjusted (eg different shot sizes for different buttons), but the default settings have been fine for me. I picked mine up online, for a very good special price. Would definitely recommend!  Show details

Unbeatable value – The Bravista Latte is the holy grail of capsule machines. It offers convenient milk-based drinks with steamed – not whisked – milk, supports a system whose pods have 8gms of coffee in them, as opposed to Nespresso’s meagre 5gms per pod, and also pre-infuses the pod for a much better extraction. And here’s the killer blow: it does all of this… Read more

for a mere $139 from Kogan.com, whereas its nearest rival in Nespresso land is selling for circa $300.

As a former Nespresso user for four years, and more recently a coffee snob with a proper Italian espresso machine and grinder, I much prefer the Caffitaly range and taste to Nespresso. The extra coffee in the pods means a double shot is an amazing thing. You’re working with 16gms of coffee between two pods – it would take three Nespresso pods to achieve that.

In terms of price – if you use the Woolworths brand pods which are fantastic, then it’s costing you 74 cents a coffee to produce a double shot. The equivalent in Nespresso’ range could be up to $2.25 as you’d need three pods, and I found that you needed to buy Nespresso brand pods to get any taste/quality satisfaction.

The milk is the next big tick in the ‘pro’ column for the Bravista. Traditionally, and Nespresso started the rage, people have had to heat and whisk the milk they intend to use with their capsule coffee.

This is not the same as steaming milk. Steaming unlock the sweetness in milk and produces a textured milk that’s not just heated liquid with foam on top.

The Bravista’s milk jug can be stored in the fridge and whipped out when needed. At the press of the button you can – in one-touch style – make a cappuccino/latte, or manually add milk. I do the latter as I work with a double shot, as previously mentioned.

The milk is much better tasting than the whisked variety. It’s not quite as sweet as what I can produce on my home espresso machine, but it’s excellent for what it is, and it’s incredibly convenient.

Despite the set-up, it’s relatively easy to clean, too. There’s even a cleaning button which will help to clear the hose of milk before you give it a proper rinse at the day’s end.

The downside? I had trouble setting it up. I put it down to an air bubble in the water pump - but it wasn't passing water into the boiler. I siphoned the air out manually and it worked fine - but this is unacceptable for most users.

I've seen some people mentioning that it leaks. That is not true. But it can be messy when flushing the system, so I'd recommend the use of a spare cup. This is because the drip tray - which has a large capacity, is also low profile in terms of its coverage. If it was fixed, and designed to come out to the side beneath the milk frother, then it would be better.

Oh - one last thing. The decaf pod in the Woolies range is AWESOME. Seriously - if you find yourself craving coffee because of the taste/it's a habit and don't want the caffeine, you won't notice much, if any, difference.. Give it a crack.

Worst machine ever – Threw out my old aldi machine after 'upgrading' to this piece of junk, leaked water and coffee from day 1 and after 6 months of being used at most twice a day it will not work at all, has been descaled and tried different pods but no go, first and last Saeco built machine.  Show details

Cheap and great – Awesome coffee machine for the price. The frothing is awesome and coffee tastes like it was made by a barista. After making coffee though, you need to flush it but I can't complain for the price. It is very easy to use but you have to clean it every now and then but not that hard to.  Show details

Awesome product works really well – This is probably the best pod type coffee machine we have owned and I've gone through a few. No leaks works every time fast makes lovely coffee and you are not restricted to one type of pod takes many many types and many brands love love it only negative things is it has no water filter and uses alot of water in cleaning and just normal usage have to empty the tank alot  Show details

Has been very useful – I like this. Pretty easy to clean considering it does milk as well. Requires somewhat regular cleaning otherwise you can taste it in the espresso. Like tastes a little bit burnt. I have also had the coffee capsules get stuck a couple of times. I had to pry it out with a fork. Not sure if it was something I did but it's happened a few times. Overall though, im happy with it  Show details

Can't complain for the price – It was one of the cheapest machines with a built-in milk frothing component, at the time of purchase, which was a large factor in choosing it. You do need to ensure you flush/rinse out the mechanism after each use, otherwise it becomes a pain to clean. The milk container is easy to remove and store in the fridge between uses. Overall, the machine… Read more

is quite easy to use (after reading the instructions, of course).

The unit takes Map coffee pods, which have been adopted by a number of coffee makers, offering quite a selection to suit different tastes and price points. I really enjoy the Gloria Jeans pods.

It's really convenient when guests are around, especially given the machine does the milk for you too. They love it and have complimented on the taste. I have saved quite a bit from buying coffee at cafes, and the machine makes them very consistently.

Good coffee machine – I got this coffee machine when it was on sale with bonus 80 pods. This machine makes decent coffee and the froth is easy to operate. MAP coffee pods always on special in major supermarkets, especially the Woolworths one are good value for money, about 37c per pod. It is very easy to clean.  Show details

Not impressed – While this machine seems to make decent coffee using the MAP pods, I'm not impressed with the design of the machine. Seems to leak very easily at the bottom and require constant clean up. Never had this issue with other MAP coffee machines or nespresso machines. The lever also ended up getting stuck but managed to get this fixed under warranty. Lucky I got this on special and didn't pay the RRP on this machine.  Show details

Best coffee machine ever! – Beautiful machine in red! Works perfectly and very fast. Tried 3 brands of coffee so far, Mr Barista, Moccona and Map all in the super strong flavour and cappucinos are amazing. Better than any cafe or starbucks or gloria jeans rubbish. Pods are about 5 bucks per 10. Mr barista is only 6 bucks for 16 pods! Easy to clean both water and milk.… Read more

Beverages look amazing in glasses as they are macchiato style coffee over milk. And at around half the price of a comparable nespresso machine there is no competition. Saeco wins every time. Can buy pods at any coles or woolies. I got my machine delivered from kogan a total of 190 bucks. What can I say but if you love coffee than you should buy this machine!

Excellent machine from Saeco but the MAP/Caffitaly pods aren't the greatest tasting – The machine itself is great and easy to use, the only real negative thing about it is that it uses a little more than my old Nespresso machine. The pods on the other hand aren't the greatest tasting and some even leave a gross aftertaste in your mouth but will suffice because of the cost of them. Great Little Machine – I service and repair commercial coffee machines including McDonald store coffee machines for a living and I can't help but be impressed with the value for money this MAP pod machine offers. The overall appearance is nice and the adjust-ability of the coffee and milk levels guarantee you can tune the coffee to your own taste.  Show details

Easy to use, good coffee – Nice coffee, milk frother works very well (compared to the nespresso at work, excessive foam) Map coffee capsules are easily available too. (Supermarkets, good guys, HN, etc) Not as many option as nespresso but enough for me. The machine is a little bit noisy considering it's got a 15 bar pump. Very happy with it overall.  Show details

Really love - replaced several other coffee machines – We've had ours (in red, from harvey Norman) for just over 3 months now. We bought it on special to replace our Map Bella machine which was old and had several issues. I'm so glad we did. It's a nifty little machine. What makes it worth it for us is the integrated milk carafe. Super easy to clean and hasn't once burnt a coffee

Fabulous! – I brought this to replace my Nespresso UMilk which kept breaking down. This machine is a gem - one touch for a professional latte - the milk reservoir steams the milk, rather than just heating and whisking it like the other machines I've used. It looks great. The MAP coffee capsules are much cheaper than Nespresso and just as good.
