Very happy so far – I bought this from HN a couple of weeks back for $49 and it's been great so far. Compared to my old machine, which was a similarly-low-priced single-boiler thingo that relied on steam pressure and required the whole coffee grinding thing, it makes much better coffee and is much more convenient, quicker and cleaner to use. Here's what works for me:… Read more ·  3

- I started off using the 'medium' button for a mug, but after doing some reading I calibrated the buttons as suggested by the posts from MAP people on here (30ml / 45 ml / 60 ml) and now only use the 30ml button for a shot. Too much water through the pod gives poorer flavour, so stick with a 30ml shot and use extra water or milk for a mug.

- Yes, the steam wand is stupidly low down, which means that you can only use a small jug, and if you put in more than a mug's worth of milk you're most likely going to spill it trying to manouvre the jug out from under the wand. But hey, the machine was ridiculously cheap at $49, so I can live with that. MAP suggests putting it on the edge of the bench, but I just placed a cork mat under mine to raise it up by a cm or so, which is enough to make it easy to get the jug in and out without affecting the look of the thing on the bench (you can't see the mat). Problem solved. You're still not going to get a big jug under there, but the thing is going to run out of steam anyway if you try to steam enough milk for several mugs in one go - it's not meant for that.

- Yes, you do have to wait for it to heat up to steaming temperature after you pour your shot before you can froth the milk. It doesn't take long, and it's just a fundamental limitation of a single boiler machine - I'm not in the market for something that costs a few hundred dollars, so it suits me fine

- Yes the water container is unnecessarily fiddly to get in and out; I quickly reverted to the method MAP suggest, which is to slide it out a bit and top it up using a jug, rather than take it out completely. No biggie - I had to use a jug to pour water in the top of my old machine anyway.

- I haven't had any of the issues that some others have had, but time will tell, I guess. I have had two occasions when it only dispensed a tiny dribble of water when I first pressed the button, and I had to press it again, at which point it produced the correct amount. I think I'll run a shot of water through it first in future, which can warm the mug, before putting the pod in.

All in all very pleased so far for the money.

Map presto capsule coffee machine - good value – I have owned and operated the Map Presto Capsule Coffee Machine on a regular (daily) basis for more than 12 months now - and I'm still impressed and quite satisfied!. This machine is one of the few (for the price) that has a built-in steam frother; aerated 'frothy' milk makes all the difference! Easy (and fast) to use - and there's a bonus that… Read more ·  1

no-one will tell you about - you can use the Gloria Jean range of capsules for added variety. A small problem is the 're-cycle time'; ideal for one person, but if there are two, then expect a wait between cups, particularly if the steam frother is used (this is perhaps why so many users elect to go with a separate steam frother jug). By the way, I zap the 'finished' cup in the microwave for 30 seconds to give me that really hot cup. All in all, a great piece of equipment, easy to maintain and a whizz to clean. For the amount of coffee I drink, it's ideal! Happy to recommend. Excellent value for money, fast, simple to use and reliable; plenty of capsule varieties. Nothing is wrong with it - just not really suitable for immediate multiple cups in a row!

Great machine, but with some reservations – Bought machine in Dec 2012 and it gave up the ghost today and stopped working, the pump was not going at all, apparently a flow sensor problem, not happy as machine not that old, but stuff happens, it was insanely cheap at $49 to start with so not a big issue I guess. Anyway, rang MAP and left a message, they called me back and went through a… Read more ·  1

short process and a few emails to n fro and I got a RA Number to get a new machine under the 12 month warranty. No stock in shops so one being delivered to home. Nice job MAP :-) Saw at Harvey Norman they now have some single origin PODS might give them a crack with the new machine when it gets here. All in all happy with machine when working it makes a nice coffee and has the best range of well-priced PODS available. Cheap, good coffee, good POD range, frother wand built-in, warranty fix/replace easy Cheap, stopped working, dispenser & frother wand a little awkward/low, drip tray could fit more snugly

I love my coffee machine – Perfect Caffè style coffee every time! I would buy a coffee from the coffee down the road once in a whole, but this coffee actually is better! I love a latte, so I just use an expresso capsule the half cup button in a mug and make the rest frothy milk! Its creamy and yum! My machine works a treat! Easy peasy!  Show details

Very happy, used every day for three years and no problems – Have used it extensively for over three years and still going strong. I even reuse pods with freshly ground coffee of my own choosing. Sure the water tank is little inconvenient ant the frother a little low but wow at the price I can live with those. Would buy another if the current one ever gives up.  Show reply

Lasted about 2yrs of once a week use. You get what you pay for and this is a cheap machine – The machine is cheap for a reason, dont expect anything special. Harvey Norman has stopped stocking these now but they do have some left over stock that they are pretty much giving away at cost. The water only gets warm, I would not call it hot at all.

Just burnt my fingers, frothing button melted of – First time I used this machine I was very careful to follow the instructions. Waited for coffee to come out, nothing. Saw the light was on suggesting the machine needed to cool. Good value – This machine does everything it is supposed to - it brews coffee and froths milk - and does it well. I have used Map capsules and the cheaper range from Woolworths and they are all acceptable, and some are really good. It takes a while to switch between the two functions but then it doesn't have a double boiler, and I didn't pay over $500 for it! … Read more ·  1

The steam wand does a great job of frothing the milk and I really look forward to the cappuccinos I make. Reliable and inexpensive. The built-in steaming wand. Slow to revert to the coffee brewing mode after using the frother.

Piece of junk – This is by far the worst machine i have ever used, had it less than a month and the frothing knob melted off. The buttons on top felt horrible to press, the actual machine felt ok when i started using it but thats where it ended. I took it back and get a proper cappucino machine Buttons felt cheap, froth knob melted off.

Broken part – I bought this machine December 2012 from Harvey Norman. It is a great little machine however the part the punches a hole in the pod on the top has broken off and remained in a pod. After looking at the warranty details it looks like this part is not covered as are a number of other parts. great price and easily used steaming wand useless as it is way to low and you can only fit a very small jug under it to froth milk.

Very easy to use, great tasting coffee – Very easy to use, attached milk frother is convenient. I inititally thought I had to prime it every time I used it but I've since discovered that you just need to wait until the lights stop flashing after turning it on - obviously due to the time required to heat up the water. VERY DSAPPPOINTED – I purchased 2 of the coffee machines last Christmas for $49 each. What a waste of money. Turned it on and smoke poured out – Picked this up for ridiculously cheap, got it home and unpacked it. by smoke pouring out from where the steam knob meets the body. My kitchen soon smelled of burned electrical components. Delicious.

The top of the machine became almost too hot to touch, so I turned it off and unplugged it in case the whole thing caught fire.

A short time later I returned it and bought a much better machine from another brand. This one actually delivers coffee as promised. Cheap, I suppose? IT CAUGHT FIRE. Water reservoir difficult to replace, you will need tiny mugs to fit underneath the capsule holder. Also, the smoke smelled terrible.

Great coffee machine at an incredible price – I have found this machine to be great and haven't had the problems others mention. It took me about and hour when I bought it to have a good read of the manual and work out how to use it but since then it has never failed me. Really can't complain for the $50 I paid. Inexpensive and always works Like a lot of machines out there you can't fit a tall mug under the dispenser. Show reply

Massive disappointment!! – After already returning one unit as the lever kept jamming, it was replaced with another faulty one. The steaming wand is useless, barely enough steam comes out to froth and water pours out the entire time so the milk gets completely diluted. What a joke...not happy!!! Oh..and yes, I have primed the machine.

Frustrating machine – The frothing spout is useless & potentially dangerous. I spill milk trying to put cup or jug underneath. Then spill frothy milk trying to get cup or jug out from under. Fantastic Machine – Firstly, this machine has had some bad reviews. The reason I think this has occurred is that they didn't follow the setup instructions and prime the machine properly. should be able to be pivoted at a higher angle to allow for the jug to be used more easily, especially when trying to remove it. Currently, we put the machine on the end of the bench and this solves the problem. Very easy to use, easy to clean, relatively quite, sturdy, inexpensive, great coffee. Frothing arm does not pivot vertically. (most machines are the same)

machine itself and the fact that I can't get a coffee larger than an espresso unless I reset it back to factory settings. I primed the machine perfectly. I had no issues with that. It's frustrating beyond belief!! I would have liked a Bella but I can't afford one. Nor can my parents who purchased the Presto for me at Harvey Norman as an early Christmas gift. The speed that the water heats, range of capsules. Continually having to reset after every coffee made gives the error message, not dispensing the appropriate amount of water in the cup even when that button is selected.

Great little machine – I bought a Map Presto about a month ago and have been enjoying great coffee ever since. It is a trouble-free machine, and easy to operate. will do so that we get a decent cup of coffee in our larger mugs. It is larger than some other machines, but doesn't take up much room on the bench and the collection container for used pods fits nicely on top of the machine. We haven't used the milk texturer as I have a separate frother.

This machine works great with the cheaper Woolworths brand pods, which give a great tasting cup of coffee. My husband has recently used his sister's Nespresso machine and is far more impressed with this much cheaper one than her expensive machine.

As an added bonus, these machines were at a greatly reduced price of $49 this week, so we purchased a second unit so we can always have decent coffee no matter where we are. Great price, easy to use. Makes great coffee. The unit sits a bit low for our big mugs to fit underneath. Removing the metal drainer grate fixed this problem though.
