Speaking to an actual human being
After being on hold for an hour plus, it was great to get helped by Ozzie. And the best of all is that he actually solve my phone issue that was a bit of a nightmare, thanks mate great customer service!!!It would have been a 5 star review if it was not for the long wait.
Good to still be able to speak to a human being.
Does what it says, mate
Every thing they advertised and said came to fruition. Enjoying the competitive pricing. Not paying for something I'm not usingNetwork seems reliable so far, although we haven't tested it during a long distance travel yet Show details · 1
Reliable
Has the network range , where no other network is, but same time , has low or no network where all other network providers are having full range like in city and around those city areas. Show details · 1Good aussie service
Easy to sign up and switch over from another telco. Coverage has been good so far as well as the speed. Very happy. Show details · 1No complaints
I'm a U.S. student abroad for a semester and Mate has been about as painless as it gets. Scape had a sim card waiting for me, activation process was a little rough but once everything was up and running, the service works perfectly. In downtown Brisbane and parts of more rural Australia, data and coverage has been fine. Prices are reasonable (man AT&T is expensive) and it works just fine with my iPhone. Over priced, there is no technical support after hours. during business hours there is 45 min wait time. and be aware if you want to change from Mate, you make sure you transfer your number and activate your sim card first, cause Mate will lock your sim so you will not be able to transfer your number as you will not receive your security code. very scum to my opinion. keep away from this provider, you will be paying high price for more headache. Recently we were holidaying in Bridport, Tasmania. An uncontrolled bushfire broke out in the surrounding district. Fellow campers using Telstra received alerts in their phones. We were not alerted. For that reason I’d have to give a lesser rating. Show details · 2Great service in switching to mate mobile
Great service seamless switch of mobile service to Mate on mateapp. Show details · 1Way better than optus
Have been using optus for over 10 years and was tired dealing with customer service whenever there was a problem. Mate is cheaper, offers 5G in my area (got tired of optus taking forever in Coffs harbour and can bank any data not used. Show details · 1Used to be a good Australian company. Customer service now having problems
I joined Mate because they are an Australian owned and operated company, and did not want to speak to a tele centre overseas. At first (for the previous 3 years 2019-2023) they were excellent. Unfortunately I have had a LOT of trouble with their billing system, with multiple direct debits failing despite money available on my credit card. My service was then disconnected without ANY notice! I was therefore unable to call their call centre. I called using another phone and requested a call back to my mobile, but never recieved one. I emailed the... Read morem and never recieved a reply. Finally when using their online chat bot, I finally got through to someone only to be told that they need to use "2 factor authentication" rubbish, which of course does not work as they disconnected my phone! I simply wanted them to charge my credit card! How ridiculous. Will be changing to another provider who has their IT [Content Removed] sorted out.Hi Josh, Thank you for the review.... Read more

High price for poor service
I have been with Mate for 6 months after moving over from Telstra prepaid hoping to save money. They only offer plans, so I was on the $30 option, but soon after joining they increased the price to $35 with no change to plan services.
I have found the service abysmal.
In the same areas that I previously had full coverage with Telstra, I now only have 1 bar.
My standard coverage is always 1 single bar, occasionally increasing to 2, but never any more.
This company is marketing itself as affordable and quality service, which is not what is provided.
I have just received my new sim with Belong, and am eager and excited to leave Mate Mobile behind, and only recommend people avoid this company at all chances. Show details

I'm sorry the signal on the mobile service was not good enough. We use the Telstra Wholesale network. In a majority of areas, the coverage is generally the same as Telstra direct. However, there are certain suburbs, and rural areas, where coverage with Telstra direct is better than a Telstra Wholesale service like ours. Wishing you all the best with your new provider. - LukeDisconnected my service and been chasing them to reinstate for almost a week now
They cut my service out of nowhere.Crap knows why? All bills were paid and were up to date. Kept telling me it will take up to 24-48 hours and 3-5 business days. Bloody boolshit.
Hope they solve this crap fast. The work is screwed up because of these crap.
What a pain!
I've raised a complaint against them with Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Show details

Sometimes there are costs to ensuring a good quality product. If you simply want the cheapest option then we understand, we do not hold contracts. Question? Why is it that you guys don’t support eSIM so I can use my cellular Apple Watch? I’d love to ditch Optus, but need my watch :(
Will you ever support eSIM, so I can use my cellular Apple Watch?
Hi TheOneAndDroney, Unfortunately, MATE mobile plans do not currently support eSIM.
We are looking to provide this feature with our mobile services, however, there is no current ETA of when this would be available.
Regards,
The MATE team.
