Maytronics Dolphin S 200

Long term problems – I have had my S200 for around 19 months. It was 10 months old when I bought it. So it is Around 2.5 years old. When it works, it is fantastic but unfortunately the older it has gotten the more unreliable it has become. I have lost count this year how many repairs I have had done. More than 10 this year. It is back in the shop again and now needs another new motor after only having the motor replaced less than 12 months ago. So a $500 repair. I have seen advertising that says that these cleaners will last up to 10 years so the two year warranty doesn’t matter. It matters. I feel like as soon as mine was out of warranty I have had nothing but trouble with it. I am now facing the prospect of paying $2550 for a new cleaner as it feels like I’m throwing good money after bad with my old cleaner. Buyers beware that you may only get two years or so out of this cleaner. When I contacted the company the response was defensive & unhelpful. They took no responsibility for their product and advised that I must have cleaned the pool too many times...

I've had it for 3 years now. First robotic cleaner I've owned. The fibre filtration and top load basket is very good. The cable swivel never worked at all. Poor design.. largerdolphin has much better SWIVEL... but they have had to replace drive motor twice under warranty and are concerned about reliability once warranty period runs out. My control box failed after about two years. Button pad stop working. Cleaner favours particular side of pool so you need to help it my manually moving it to other end. I guess if I had bought fancier version it would have been able to map pool area (?) so this would not happen. Will research others brands next time. I'd like to think for that kind of money their is a brand that can work like a dolphin...but is bit more robust. Could be naive :)

be noted that this unit was permanently left in the pool and was set to clean the pool twice a week and just cleaned sand and very small leaf litter. It is still permanently left in the pool to this day. I purchased a Maytronics S200 pool cleaner on 8/11/22 for $2,250. From new, its always taken three or so cycles to clean the pool and if you put the fine filter into it, it simply fails to clean the pool at all. It was returned within 6 months as the plastic clips that hold the lid onto the water tight compartment had perished and failed, flooding the electronics. The lid on my old machine was held in place with screws. Numerous other plastic parts had also failed. This was repaired by the pool shop without question. They said I cant leave it in the pool. My question was why, the last one sat in the pool for 16yrs with nothing wrong with it. From this day on, the machine has been removed from the pool after every cycle (x3 cycles) without fail. The S200 is now 2.5 yrs old and at present, it looks worse than the 16yr old unit. • The machine has intermittent stop/start faults. • The front cover on the power supply swells on a hot day in the shade, rendering it unusable. • The on button sticks and you can’t turn the unit off. • The umbilical power cord to the machine has perished with a sticky tar like substance all over it. This has stopped the swivel from working correctly so now the machine entangles itself in the cord by ingesting the cable through the rollers. • The rubber door flap is continuously found floating in the pool. It’s not broken. It’s just another part that has perished prematurely and is all sticky due to the degradation of the polymer chains in the cheaply manufactured rubber. This includes the tracks. The rubber turns into a blue tac like substance. I have now had to screw the flap to the machine with a piece of aluminium flat bar.

I feel Maytronics have dramatically change the manufacturing quality of their product by using substandard polymers, but still charge a price associated with a high end machine. This is deception. I will NEVER buy Maytronics again and feel I need to inform others so they can make an educated decision.

Message to Maytronics: Very disappointed in your corporate strategy to cheap out on your manufacturing and not lower the cost of your product to reflect its new level of quality.

Sit back and let the Robot do the work! – Since purchasing the Dolphin S200 I have been able to enjoy my pool so much more. Cleaning the pool used to be so time consuming especially manually cleaning with the hand-held catcher. It's now just a matter of plugging in, turning on and letting it clean. The robot scrubs the waterline tiles and picks up all the leaves that blow into the pool. It really has saved me so much time and effort. Would definitely recommend! Show details ·  1

S200 dream machine – I’ve been using a SWASH TC (the yellow model) for 2 weeks 3HRS per day. I clean the filter after every use day there is less & less algae in the filter & it scrubs the waterline as well does a lot better job than the old pole brush. I live in a rental property with a pool the salt water chlorinator doesn’t work but the dolphin still keeps the pool clean, I’ve now purchased an S200 as I had only borrowed the SWASH. Show details ·  1

Best decision I’ve made in 35 years – Maytronics Dolphin S200 Best decision I’ve made after owning pools for 35 years was to replace all of those Barracuda, Krreepy Krawly , Aldi ( and a few other brands I have been though ) with a Maytronics Dolphin S200. information in regards to which dolphin was best for me, and on how to use and care for it, and also on any concerns with warranty issues. I then felt very comfortable with the product and brand and went to my local elite dealer whom gave me an extra year warranty (2+1) and purchased the S200. So far so good it works exactly the way it researched and cleaned my pool beautifully ( it did take two cycles the fist go but by then my pool hadnt been cleaned in 3 weeks). Floor, walls and waterline very quietly and quickly. I then took it out and cleaned the filters which had a lot of real fine sand and dirt which i had never seen before. Filter was easy to clean with a hose, i then packed away on my home built Trolley (bunnings fold up trolley, plastic bin and plastic hose hanger all cabled tied together) which fits and works perfectly. Early days but so far i am very impressed and just hope i feel this way in 3-4yrs (keep you posted)

We’d had cheap filter pump-driven units the whole time and I felt they did a passable job vacuuming up sediment but leaves (we have way more than our share) necessitated very frequent, often daily, manual net-scooping before using the pool cleaner effectively. I was totally sceptical of more expensive robot type units but my wife arranged a surprise Maytronics Dolphin S100 (I think this a low to mid end robot price-wise) from Santa for Xmas 2020. It’s 12 months on now and wow - what a difference it has made to owning a big (12m) leafy-suburban pebblecrete pool. It even limbs the walls and cleans the tiles above the waterline! I now just sort out the chemicals, filter and filter socks and the Maytonics does the rest under instruction from my wife or her phone. I have no idea how it’s performance compared to other similar units but I could not recommend this one more highly - and how wrong I was in my long-held underestimation of robot pool cleaners!

stored it on a piece of cardboard, upside down in a spare room out of the elements. Fantastic machine with no complaints. However, I then started Christmas leave on the 7th December, almost two years after purchase, and as usual put the Dolphin to work pre Christmas swimming. The S200 was trying hard but would not steer! she just drove back and forward on a linear plane, often doing a wheelie attempting to turn but to no avail. I spoke to the Maytronics dealer (Splash Pools) here on the Central Coast of NSW, the guys looked at it, acted quickly and efficiently, and replaced the motors and circuit board assembly within the machine. It was ready to go four days later, and is working better than ever. Best thing was that they covered full costs of everything faulty and labour, I only had to take the Dolphin to their shop, and later pick it up. I will buy Maytronics again in a heartbeat, yes the initial cost is very high (mine cost 2100) the support and quality is well worth it. My pool is pebblecrete, 9 metres x 4.2 metres with average depth of 1.7 metres, approx 60,000 litres of water, and this machine + my Zodiac saltwater crossover (from Craig and Jenny at Poolwerx Toukley) keeps the water crystal.

Dolphin S100 Warranty unreliable – As I have a business that requires pool to be pristine I purchased a Dolphin Pool Cleaner. After 12 months the pool cleaner stopped working. When I purchased the machine I was advised that I could take the pool cleaner to the shop and they would test it immediately. Neither pool shop nor Maytronics take any responsibility for delays in testing. I would not have purchased a Dolphin Robotic Cleaner had I been aware of this. Show details

No longer working – Built a new pool last summer. The S200 worked great for 4 months, then the motor & or bearings went out & no longer works. It is under warranty but I need a reliable vaccum asap. I will purchase a ROBOTEK instead of dealing with customer service. The motor goes out in these models every year from my research. RC Walker Show details
