What sized gas cylinders fit in the gas holders? An 8.5kg and a 3.5kg cylinder does not fit anywhere remotely close.
Swap and go gas cylinders are often incorrect from standard size. 9kg and 4.5kg are the correct sizes.
Thanks for that Steve. So are you saying that the Swap and Go bottles are different dimensions and this is why they don't fit? Kinda restrictive from a customer point of view, and completely false. The arms on the gas bottle holder are not big enough to wrap around the bottles anyway. Would you be happy to discuss further.
Caravan and camper bottle holders are sized as per the standard Primus bottles. Swap and go don’t always follow suit they are not genuine 4.5 and 9kg as per standard Primus size.
Looking into purchasing a MDC V-Box T4, second hand. Would like to find out information from anyone that has one or had one, to let me know any issues with this camper? And what the canvas is like? What to look for ? Cheers
Can you pack up the extra annex woth the walls connected or do you have to dismantal it all
Hi Rachel, I guess you can, as from memory MDC uses ripstop fabrics made in China. If you look at the material it has tiny squares or like a cross stitch. This is really light compared to proper canvas made in Australia which is usually much heavier & weighs about 20kgs, so we take it off. The other thing to consider is if you can get it under the trailers fitted cover.
regards, Old John.
What's the customer service like. I've just placed a deposit on a trailer
Couldn't fault it. Handover was great. After sales service great...One of the handle latches broke during xmas period, (could have happened to anyone) I thought that would not hear from them until new years. They responded very quickly and fixed no problems.
Once you pay your money forget customer service I have had three yrs worth of problems made worse by the fact that they never answer emails, make promises on the phone that never happened I can honestly say they have THE WORSE customer service I have ever come across if you can get your deposit back do it and look else where
Looking at buying the t box v5 camper can't seem to find any reviews, does anybody have 1 and have they experienced any problems?
I have a T-Box and love it. Yes there are problems as you would expect with any import CT. Main one for me was the rear mounted wheel, wouldn't allow us to fit the annex side wall properly. I spoke to MDC Perth about this recently and they have a "in-house fix" apparently. Other issues were: jockey wheel (believe this has been updated recently too) is total rubbish, the wheel doesn't stay upright as the metal bends where the bolt goes through. My annex floor wasn't right so they replaced instantly. My annex started to tear on the stitching about 10 months after I bought it, they replaced instantly. Out of warrantly issues: 2 of the boxes have leaked, on inspection, the way they put the rubber seal on was flawed, at the bottom corners, it had creases that let in water. But don't think these are water tight because on further inspection I notice the rear box has a conduit entry point that isn't even sealed...
Putting the tent up is relatively easy but you will need 2 people as 1 person makes it almost impossible. Space is excellent, we have 2 kids. Overall I'm happy.
Hope this helps.

Looking at the v5 off-road deluxe with the 12 foot tent. Just wanting to know pros and cons of this camper. Would their fridge slide hold the weight of an 80 ltr Engel? And finally how hard is the tent to put up (will it get frustrating if we only want to quickly setup on overnight travels, etc.)?
Hi Jo.M, having not purchased one myself due to the canvas I can't really comment too much from self experience with the MDC. However I know people who have MDC campers and they use the fridge slide with big fridges without any issues. As for overnight travels, all tent trailers are a pain to set up and pack up for overnight stays, but they're not terrible. The annex / awning of the MDC's have stacks of poles but that's due to their size. Hope that helps. The only reason I won't buy one is due to the Chinese canvas... Everything else seems okay.
Hi Jo.m I've got the T-Box v4 with 18'. I realise where it's made and i'm fine with that. I've got a fabrication background and assumed any issues would be fixed by me. Thus far I have had any issues. I haven't done any serious offroading or corrugations with it yet so there's still some testing to go. Re canvas I've found it fine. Had it about a year n a half. Have used it whilst pouring rain and it's held up. Would recommend getting the tropical roof as it gets hot in there on a summers day.
Re frdige slide, I bought mine afterwards and fitted it myself, the idea is good but in practice seems to miss the mark, nothing a little lifting doesn't fix though. I have a 60L engel in it and it's at capacity, you can check the dims against the 60L. The main issue is the last set of wheels don't go into the runner easily becasue the weight of the fridge on the cradle. I am in the process of making a fix so that's all I can tell you thus far.
Hope this helps.

Looking at buying a mdc rearfold Jackson T ATM , any reason why I should look else where ?
Hi Jim, the only reason I would consider looking elsewhere is the canvas... As I didn't end up buying an MDC camper I can't speak for the build quality. However I have had dealings with Chinese canvas and believe they are inferior to Aussie canvas that is not exported. Mind you proper Aussie canvas is triple the cost so weigh that up if you are only a sometimes camper and don't do regular harsh terrain trips.
Hope that helps... there are a lot of other budget campers too, so look around...
Cheers
I can't speak about the particular model you are looking at, but we are still happy with our MDC unit. Have been on a few trips now from bush camping in 40 degree heat to caravan parks and have had no problems. Canvas was a big consideration when purchasing, and the quality of the canvas is more then fine IMO. Whilst the canvas is lighter duty than Aussie canvas, the way I see it if you're not camping in a cyclone , look after it and don't be careless with it then should last the life of the camper. My 2c + GST.
i went to perth caravan and camping show and an MDC on display was voyager for 13990. it seemed like a good deal until I started reading some ot fhe comments on this and other forums regarding the build quality, and, the after sales service. I rang the rep today, left a message and sent a text., no reply, perhaps this reflects the attitude of the company and I may have dodged a bullet. There seems to be an issue with the claimed 14 oz tent fabric that does not come up to spec. the upgrade to Australian made canvas is $4000. any comments ?
