This company was a time wasting sink to us we had a policy about five years ago and then changed insurance, the other day we got an email saying they overcharged us and we were getting a refund of $80 but we needed to give them our new credit card details so after being on hold for a long long time we updated the details and waited and waited but… Read more

Horrible customer service when I asked why my policy had gone up by 86% in only two years. No claims other than what they offer for vaccinations/check-ups/worming. I was sent a generic AI written email stating that this was "normal", yet I can get the exact same coverage from 4 other pet insurance companies for half the price. I advised I wanted… Read more

to cancel my service and THAT'S when they decided they wanted to keep me as a customer and offer me a discount. Not when I raised concerns about the increased and said I wasn't happy, no it was when I told them I wanted to cancel. They offered me 3 months for free which still would have cost more over the year than switching to another company. I told them no, I had already set up a new insurance policy to start when Medibank ended and then they proceeded to continue sending me emails and reminders of the free 3 months. Maybe don't send customers an AI generated email, and they might consider staying.

Save same time and look past this company – I am on my 3rd attempt to take out pet insurance. I have waited on hold for 20 mins to talk to someone twice only to be hung up on without even an answer(middle of the days-am). So I called Medibank life insurance they answered straight away and couldn’t help or say why the pet area wasn’t working. Im going round and round in circles and no… Read more

luck. If you want to waste an hour+ of your time and get hung up on then get a quote from them. I just tried to get new insurance for the 3rd time I got an answer this time and even tho I said I had been through this she had to put me on hold again. Enough is enough look past this company they are terrible to deal with you cant even get a quote. I’d say get one online if anything. UPDATE: After trying to call and do mediation I was put on hold for 30 mins, then got a lady from a non English speaking country I couldn’t understand, and despite qualifying for a multi pet discount tried to offer me insurance I could get cheaper online with no other pets insured(whole reason to wait on phone was for them to add this messsly 5% discount as I already have a pet insured), 30 mins for 1st for the rep, then I ask to talk to her manager again on hold for the manager 40 mins on hold or talking to someone I couldn’t understand I gave up and went with woolies way quicker easier to deal with and you get 10% off groceries every month. Save time and money and go with Woolworths insurance!!!Id be happy to take this review down if the party will call and explain why about 4 hours of my life were wasted going around on circles to buy your product. I don't know how they survive this they are the most expensive are not Australian you talk to someone overseas you cant understand? One of the worst company’s Ive ever dealt with. If you do choose the product definatly try and do everything online the phone service is the worst Ive ever dealt with!!!!!

Excellent. Easy to claim and fast approval – My 16 weeks old Toy Poodle had an accidental fracture that needed a very expensive surgery to repair. Medibank has been amazing and we couldn’t recommend the ultimate policy high enough. After paying more that $5000 in Vet Fees ( surgery, overnight stays, medication etc) a claim was made and 80% of what we paid was back in our back account within 48hs of submission. Very Happy Customers. Show details ·  1

Price gouging and no respect for the veterinary profession – I am a veterinarian who has had Medibank Insurance for my dog for 8years. Her Monthly premium is now $208 a month, increasing 25% per year in the last 4 years, when on average I have claimed less $300 per year for her arthritis medication. They offer no professional discount ( unlike other insurers whom give a 10% premium discount to… Read more

Veterinarians) for Veterinarians even when our claims are always 50% less than the general public. Absolutely disgraceful. Will be actively recommending against Medibank insurance at the 10+ new puppy or kitten consults I see per day *** update 16th Feb. Still no contact from medibank with regards to my policy that is due to renew in 2 days; what a surprise. Quick ( less then 24hrs) to decline insurance claims I submit for owners pets, yet almost a month with no contact when the shoes on the other foot. In the event my policy roles over without any correspondence from medibank I will be proceeding with the following https://www.afca.org.au/make-a-complaint/insurance

2 claims made and very happy – Our Lab girl has been fighting off a nasty ear infection since the start of the year. 7 trips to the vet and well over $1000 in bills. Worst insurance company ever – If I could rate 0 I would. What a joke. My dog was brought into Australia from overseas had to go through extensive testing to ensure he was healthy. POOR, DO NOT EECOMMEND – Took out medibank pet insurance for both our dogs(10 years old and 7 months) Bonnie was diagnosed with lymphoma had 7 masses removed, three teeth including molers removed, costed roughly $2100, took out insurance that should had been covers as we took out top cover with extra for both canines, didn't get a cent back as according to them desexing… Read more

and pre-existing conditions are not covered even tho the masses were recently diagnosed, it should all been covered in the policy as surgery and procedures for both mass removal and desexing is a common everyday practice. They representative did not state that desexing was not covered, we also spoke to them regarding the lumps informing them what we were told, policy was taken out then Bonnie was diagnoses, updated medibank regarding (2 days prior to operation) was told operatoon was not covered , they said we are covered when we had to pay extra and get nothing back. Medibank is a pack of lies, do not give a care in the world about your pet, if they employed people who can speak properly and that work with customers on a daily bases, things might had turn out better, DO NOT TAKE INSURANCE Out for your pet or any type of insurance, if they do this to your beloved pet what are they doing to people, absolutely disgraceful and they need to learn customer service

Medibank is not the one – Medibank pet insurance is not competitive with other insurance companies. With a 70% benefit percentage, $250 excess there is so many better insurers to go with. After 6 months of premiums, I just had my first claim approved and moved to another insurer hours after receiving it. With a $399 vet bill I got $26 back. Show details

Making up lies to not pay claims – I tried to submit a claim for a UTI for my dog and they claimed that she presented at a vet clinic with UTI symptoms 36 days before the UTI occurred. They said she attended the vet in Jan for this issue when she hadn't been to the vet since September the previous year, and there was nothing on the vet's history that said she'd ever had a UTI.… Read more

Don't trust them one bit, I think I'll be cancelling my insurance with them.

Update: after their review they're still unwilling to pay for this claim despite it being a perfectly valid claim, saying the years of her having urinary issues because of poor training was actually because of the UTI. I've gone ahead and cancelled my policy with them, hopefully that will go smoothly but with their track record I wouldn't count on it

Seriously, don’t bother – Got the ultimate pet insurance and thought this will save me heaps! Nope! Just had a vet visit for $1800 and got a whopping $19.50 back (and only got that back after they “mistakingly” rejected my claim). A few separate line items of things that were apparently pre-existing but no notations from my vet indicating as such? Must have some sort of… Read more

psychic ability knowing things me and my vet don’t. My pup also has suspected cruciate ligament damage and we’re waiting on results - it hasn’t even been confirmed yet and I called to see if it is cruciate ligament damage can I claim after 6 month waiting period? Even though the vet noted it happened after I initially took out insurance? Consultant said no because I’ve already taken him in it’s now considered pre-existing and that I should’ve made the claim to waive the waiting period for it before getting him treated and paying for it (didn’t pay for cruciate ligament damage repair, paid to see what is wrong with his leg) And now because it’s considered “pre-existing” they won’t cover the cost at all, ever. So.. Im basically paying the full vet bill plus donating extra to this despicable pet insurance company. Thieves at work here. Steer clear. Considering changing my private health now too. No better than a scam pet insurance – My dog recently had two visits to the vet. The first was to investigate a sore paw. This required sedation. Cost was about $450. Small price to pay for complete peace of mind – We have been unlucky enough to have had to make 3 biggish claims in the last 5 years, but each time Medibank has been easy to deal with and provided prompt payment to the extent insured. Read the product disclosure carefully! – We cancelled our Ultimate pet insurance today for our two puppies during the cooling off period after paying $1200. So mad! can be because of a urine infection. Taking her to the vet during the cooling off period, and having this in the vet notes automatically means we cannot claim any future bills if she has either of these symptoms in the next 18 months. Not only that, even if we take her to the vet but don’t lodge a claim during the 18 months we won’t be able to possibly claim any bills for the rest of her life relating to these symptoms. We cannot insure her anywhere else either as these are now pre-existing conditions. This was apparently on page 28 of the product disclosure statement. Lesson learnt!

Efficient and reasonable – I lodged a claim of a recent blood test for my cat and Medibank divided it into two, where the majority of the fee was not paid out. An outlier in the insurance industry – We had to say goodbye to our beautiful old boy of 12 years. When it came to submitting claims for the last few vet visits, Medibank went above and beyond. medication after his policy was canceled. We submitted this through our other pets policy and Medibank were amazing. They didn’t call to question us or ask us to do this through other channels or jump through a million hoops which we’ve come to expect through other insurance providers. Medibank were kind, empathetic and just really human in the way they helped us claim post the death of our pet. I can’t recommend them highly enough. We are now thinking about swapping whatever other insurance possible to them after experiencing how they run their organisation. Medibank helped make an awful period of our lives, less stressful. We are really grateful.
