I miss what Metalicus used to be – For years I have purchased Metalicus as I am a lover of the layered look. They were my 'go to' store. The clothes were well made, comfortable to wear and flattering. They had designs to suit most figures and seemed to last forever. One dress (a medium weight, leopard short short sleeved A line), lasted me for years and is only just showing… Read more

signs of wear after being worn to work on a weekly basis. It washed up perfectly and never needed an iron.

But over the past few years I've noticed the fabrics have become cheaper, don't fit as well, and get 'bally'... something that never used to happen. And the designs were targeting skinny beanpoles with no shape...instead of normal Australian women.

I miss what Metalicus was... shame on you.

It used to be unic clothing line, now it is rubish – I am so upset and angry that metalicus changes it's unic style, the febric changes as well. Who ever own the company now is out of their mind. I can see they are going to out of businese very soon. I used to be very loyal customer, only wear metalicus clothing, now I have to check out other brand clothing line now.

So sad – I too have been a loyal customer for years. I recently received an order which to be perfectly honest is just horrible in design and craftsmanship. Why on earth would you change a winning product into a total failure, I can only imagine it is profit margin. Well it serves you right because it has well and truly bitten you on the bum. I am so sad that this has turned into a winning product into a total failure.

What happened to my Australian Merino Wool based Metalicus – For years I have purchased the brilliant Australian Metalicus brand. Another destruction when designs that were so unique changed and it was outsourced to China. There is no point of difference. The last items I purchased were overpriced poor quality cheap and nasty. Unfinished and tacky. After many years another Australian brand destroyed. Very… Read more

saddened at this. No more go to for all occasions. I will have to preserve my originals and not wear them as often so they last the distance of my lifetime. Independent stores were the best locations and departments stores such as Myer and David Jones now are merely trumped up undercover street markets for overpriced Chinese made rubbish. Aussie designers! What Aussie designers and being Australian fashion week it was evident that these designers couldn't give a toss about the local market and only want the façade of being a cut above with weird and absolutely unwearable fashion. Unless you were on stage you wouldn't wear the outfits in a flying fit not to mention the prices they are asking for finger painting class design. Ridiculous. Very disappointed in Metalicus and the path it has taken.

So sad. I will miss the previous Metalicus – OMG. I read the reviews, but went to see for myself, hoping to snap up some fabulous pieces before Metalicus became no more. Firstly there was no stand alone store at Chadstone, despite there being a listing for one still according to Google! So I went to Myer and was absolutely shocked at how bad the range was. Being someone who had shopped… Read more

almost exclusively at Metalicus for 10 years until being pregnant, I have lived in their clothes, loving the feel and fit.

There was NOTHING I wanted yesterday. The range was unrecognisable as the Metalicus I knew. The smart layering options are gone. Everyhing is small and short. Too young.

What happened? What a tragedy! I can understand why they went broke.

So sad.

Such a train wreck! – I have been a loyal customer of metalicus for years, wearing one or more of their items almost every day and spent a lot in their stores. Some would say I was a metalicus junkie! I loved their quality fabrics incorporating merino and polymide, classic and fashionable, layering, mixing and matching. Unfortunately like many others here I have not… Read more

embraced Metalicus's 'new direction' at all and have voted with my feet to find an alternative. I think this whole sad situation will be a future case study of what happens when you stop listening to your customers. RIP Metalicus. My only hope is that some other smart designers step in to the void!

Metalicus gone into voluntary administration – Received an email today from Metalicus to say they had gone into voluntary administration. What a pity. I really liked their styles and range of colours. I also liked dropping into their stores at airports when travelling. So convenient. Always helpful and nice staff.

I’m not surprised they are closing – I had been a loyal customer of Metalicus - their loyalty program and awesome range meant an addiction every month. Until general pants took over. They announced yesterday they are going into voluntary administration. I am not at all surprised!

What has happened to Metalicus – I am so disappointed in the change in designs of their range! I have been a loyal customer of Metalicus for years and have loved the way their designs have fit my shape but I really can not now find anything to buy, it is so disappointing. Who now fits this space? I am at a loss.

Disappointing – Very disappointed that the Garden City Booragoon store closed with no warning. (I believe the Karrinyup and Perth city stores closed also). I have been a loyal Metalicus shopper for years and always received emails but nothing about the closure so no warning to use up my gift voucher (which cannot be used at the MYER city store). When I emailed… Read more

asking if I could use my gift card at General Pants I heard nothing back. Now it will cost me to shop online to use it as you have to spend over $100 for free shipping. Quality of clothing is nothing like it used to be. Such a shame as the staff at Garden City were always so helpful and made shopping there a pleasure. You have lost another customer.

Noooooooooo – Along with everyone here, I can't believe the turn Metalicus has taken. General Pants has killed a great Brand. I am in my late 20's and have been wearing Metalicus since I was a teenager. Their basics line, fabrics, and colors and unique style and shape used to be top quality. Dresses I bought 11 years ago I still wear today. This new direction… Read more

is nothing short of a shame. I could deal with the fabric and style changes...the change in quality even...in the last few years. But now I feel like I'm supposed to be an 18 year old to wear there clothes. How ridiculous. Boooooo.

A disappointing transformation – I have been a loyal customer for decades and usually wear at least one Metalicus item every day. I find it offensive that they are disregarding their loyal customer base and their successful branding in favour of seeking a new customer base which is notionally younger and trendier. It is even worse that their marketing is actually debasing these younger customers through the objectifying advertising. Shame o Metalicus on both scores.

What a shame – I have never reviewed a product before, but I'm so disappointed (like many other women who have commented), that I felt I had to. Metalicus has always been my 'go-to' shop. I used to wear at least one item of their clothing every day, but now they have changed all of their clothes, even their basic collection, and I can't find anything I like or… Read more

that fits me anymore. The couple of items that I have bought over the past year have been really disappointing, and I have finally given up on Metalicus. What a shame that they don't seem to have taken any notice of their old, loyal customers who have given up on them, and get back to what they used to do well...

No longer my favourite brand – Along with the many other women who have commented, I loved Metallicus and always came away from the store with many gorgeous items of clothing. So disappointed with the change in demographic, will be unsubscribing and going elsewhere!

So disappointed – I loved Metalicus; they made well-constructed clothing with a gorgeous drape and fall to it, in unusual colours and fabrics. I never walked out of their stores without at least one item of clothing. But like the other posters, I'm disappointed they've chosen to change their style and demographic completely, and there's just nothing interesting or… Read more

unusual any more.

And to add insult to injury, their direct marketing is utterly cringeworthy and tacky "Flaunt it 24/7 - Babe, this dress is so perfect, you're going to be striking a pose all weekend long. Better yet, throw an over-the-shoulder wink and he won't know where to look". Ugh, are you kidding me?! You think even young women fall for that tripe?

This long term client is unfollowing, unsubscribing and finding another go-to.

Why change perfect? – This is my first review anywhere (for anything), but I felt compelled to write after seeing the direction that Metalicus has taken. Like other reviewers I have been a loyal customer of Metalicus for ages. I literally wore at least one of their pieces everyday. I also could always rely on their basics range to layer and suit just about anything!… Read more

Casual, day, work, evening...What has happened??? So, so sad. I can understand adding different styles, but for goodness sake leave the classics alone! Why change something so good? To the designers - 'new' directions aren't always better. Now, you just look generic and cheap. A million thumbs down.

Poor treatment – Tried to give Metalicus a second chance by private messaging. No contact back. Metalicus emailed me a Birthday voucher 2 weeks after my actual birthday, then the Indooroopilly Metalicus Store would not honour the voucher stating it is only valid for 2 weeks from my birthday. Terrible!

Why – My favourite store. Always able to pop in and walk away with multiple outfits. Why change a winner. I’m really disappointed in the changes. I’ve unsubscribed. Bring back Metalicus before we all leave

Reinvention or death of a previously awesome brand? – Like Cathy, I have also been a loyal customer of Metalicus for years. I have shopped there for my clothes almost exclusively, aways walking away with bags full of clothes. Metalicus was known for their comfortable and quality clothing. The fabrics were gorgeous, the designs unique and the range amazing. You could layer, drape and mix and match… Read more

easily to create multiple looks for different occasions. Metalicus really had a different offering to what was available elsewhere. Not any more. Unfortunately, I can no longer find anything at all that I would want to buy there and will be voting with my feet, taking my hard earned cash with me. To be honest, walking into Metalicus, l feel like I am walking into Supre or Big W. Bland, tight, uncomfortable, ill-fitting, ordinary...(I won't go on). I understand that the intention of General Pants, the current owners of Metalicus, is to target an entirely different market; but did they really have to kill a successful brand with a loyal following to do that? As Julia Roberts says in Pretty Woman as she waves thousands of dollars worth of clothing purchased elsewhere in the face of her protagonist: "Big mistake. Huge mistake".

Metalicus change not for the better – I have been a loyal customer for years, but recently the brand seems to have changed direction. Whilst change is good, they seem to be aiming at a totally different customer base. What I liked about Metalicus is that it was unique with it's own "look". Now it is starting to look like all the other brands. Quality is not what it used to be as well.

great design, very poor quality – I am saddened to see the decline of the quality of fabrics used in the production of Metalicus garments. I love the designs, however I have just purchased a pretty crossover slip dress in fuschia, but it is unwearable due to the fabric being 100% polyester and full of static, sticking to my legs and other places that it shouldn't. I cannot be… Read more

Customer Service - Head Office – I had some issues with my loyalty card so I contacted the customer service department and was looked after by Amy. I just wanted to say that the service she gave was fantastic. So many companies don't realise how important this area is to a business. You earn loyalty with happy customers!

Significant reduction in quality- not in price – I began buying Metalicus when they started here in Melbourne. The clothes were generally made well and with quality material i.e: wool blends. The clothing lasted years. I recently purchased a repeat dress design and within 2 hand washes the stitching has come undone at the back and they are pilling and look cheap to wear. What a shame. Metalicus was always a 'go to' but have sold out on quality.

Grandma clothing marketed at young and/or pregnant women – The customer service is a bit pushy and very fixated on units per sale. It's all layer upon layer upon layer. Mostly synthetic fabrics and the same styles rehashed each time. Never buy full price! Be mindful of static electricity when wearing head to toe stocking fabric. Wool line is a bit better but overpriced - half merino is not good enough for the money you pay.

Great Customer Service – Metalicus styles are so easy to wear and I buy at least one piece a month. I find the thicker fabrics are very durable whereas the finer ones rub and look shabby very quickly. Last year I bought a belt in an end of season sale but didn't try it at the time. When I tried to wear it 6 months later, it didn't sit properly. I took it back to Metalicus… Read more

. Because it was the previous season stock there was no replacement available but Metalicus sent the belt for repairs and Express Posted it back to me. I thought that was great customer service. Most other retailers would simply tell me that I should have brought it back earlier instead of taking ownership of the problem.

Metalicus quality – I've bought two of their skirts recently and one started pilling after the first wear (Grey tube skirt) and now the stitching on the hem of my second skirt (Certainly fitted skirt) has started unravelling after the first wear too. Has anyone else come across issues with bad quality on their clothing? I mean for the high prices I would be expecting a much better quality item so I was very disappointed. bad quality clothing

great gear for travelling - no ironing, but without the oh so done to death 'crushed' look – I'd equate Metalicus customer service with that of the Nordstrom store in the US (famous over many decades for its gold standard customer service). I lost the belt to my favourite Metalicus trench coat somewhere in transit from Gold Coast to Melbourne in June 2011. After receiving no response to my phone calls and emails to the airline's lost… Read more

property office, I followed the advice of the Metalicus store in Chapel Street, Prahran, Victoria (who gave me the contact details) and emailed the Metalicus head office, asking if they could find a replacement belt - after all, a trench without a belt is not fit to be seen in public.

[name removed], E-Commerce Assistant Manager, took on the challenge (despite being in the middle of stocktake and end of financial year priorities), and sent me the most welcome email last week - she had tracked down the right coloured belt and I received it the next day.

I can't speak highly enough of her attention to what is probably a pretty low priority in the scheme of things, but her determination to find a replacement belt and to keep me informed of progress was amazing. Thanks [name removed] - you deserve some recognition for what is too often missing in today's business dealings - understanding the customer's problem, undertaking to do whatever possible to resolve the problem, keeping the customer informed of progress, and above all being polite, caring and personal. You're a star! All the best, and thanks not just for the belt, but for not putting my request on the back burner. Cheers, Bron Great customer service

Some very cool designs – Metalicus make some very cool designs. They are comfortable and warm and great for layering. My sister is slim enough and she looks great in their dresses etc. They also have a… Read more

Bad – I like the pieces that they have for layering because that would be great for colder days. They are comfortable and look nice too. They are expensive, so not I buy regularly or often at all.
