Avoid staying at Metropolitan Hotel. They tell you the damage deposit will be refunded at checkout, but that’s not what actually happens. the exact unit—$950. And that’s without a trade discount, which they likely receive. The quote broke down as $4,590 for the unit and $2,500 for labour and materials. As a licensed electrician, I can say with confidence that a competent plumber could complete this job in 2–3 hours tops, even on a slow day. That means they're effectively charging $800–$1,000 per hour, which is completely unreasonable. When I called to request a refund for the $150 call-out fee, I was put on hold and then disconnected. I called back and spoke with someone else who was noticeably more aggressive, vague, and unhelpful. Rather than resolving anything, I was simply told to email my complaint. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing. Their pricing is exploitative, and the customer service left a lot to be desired. Unless you’re comfortable paying four times what a job is worth, I strongly suggest avoiding this company. It felt like they were taking advantage of someone in a vulnerable position. Scammers. Overpriced to the point of outright theft. "Rejuvenation of a ducted split system air-conditioner, including visual inspection of possible faults and checking operation of the unit. Disclaimer: Although a majority of the time a rejuvenation will rectify the issue, should it require parts we will provide additional quotes accordingly" That job is $200 worth. Do your due diligence before signing up with these guys. I regret not doing my research on them and learned a very expensive lesson. Learn from my mistake.

LESSON LEARNT : $9.6K to replace a water heater that probably only needed a new valve as it was dripping. Its a $6k lesson sadly .........although the 2 plumbers and 1 electrician were lovely, I also seem to wonder if the first plumber was the same as mentioned by Adam from Brisbane below in his review, as I think he may have been on something, but then I guess if you knowingly have to rip people off by order of your employer then I would take something to deal with the guilt also...ethically it would be hard. . shonks is the fact that the next plumber (a local guy) fixed it in 30 mins for $170. Lesson learned: even if you’re desperate, never, ever call Metropolitan Plumbing. The negative reviews are 100% correct.
Scam! Can only think it must be to target the vulnerable who don't know or feel pressured. Advance payment of $140 for them to attend and quote! that they provide finance options (HUMM & ZIP). Clearly that is how they scam/trap the vulnerable into disgusting overcharges. The FOUR other quotes I've also had are between $275 & $585. They are completely off the scale and a rip-off. Do not use. There are many other options out there. Make sure you shop around and get multiple quotes. Most don't even do a call out charge to quote! So don't fall for their scam.

RIDICULOUSLY overpriced! DO NOT choose this company! Paid a call out fee for a technician to come and fault find my aircon and quite a repair The technician quoted me 4.5k for a service and told me that he can only fault find after a service has been completed. Called the company for a refund. They claimed that i should have been played a pre recording about their services which mentions the need for servicing before fault finding. This was not the case

straightforward job. He replaced approximately 300 millimeters of pipe and put to crimps on the whole job took about two hours a lot of it was finding parts in his vehicle in the end they charged me a $1000 an hour, $2000 in total. I feel they took advantage of the situation and I was not in the position to send him away at that point. The tradesman was a pleasant fellow but the company exploited my situation and very disappointed in their performance can't tell you how gutted I feel about the situation.

time and 15 minutes of work to quote, and then occasionally have some poor none the wiser customer agree … sounds like a great way to make good money (ripping people off) while doing not much work at all.

I told him that I would not sign anything without him Complete the work. He tried manipulate me by saying:"oh, how about just to verify I turned up at your door step?" I said "no." After a couple of months, I received an invoice from this company by email, claiming that they've sent a plumber to service my property, and request for payment. There's no invoice, nothing, no job description! They think I might have forgotten about the event, and might just pay for it?! So, this company never intended to provide you any services to begin with, that explains why the plumber demanded me to sign on his job sheet before he even begun the job. This company is a big scammer, not just the plumber. They were unable to serve me after the plumber left, because I am not the type of customer they are fishing for, as I wouldn't fall into their trap!

Please be aware of the substandard work and the extreme over charging of this company. I regret using this company. The Office of the Technical Regulator inspected the work, and said there were a number of non compliant issues, which really made me angry!
Technician was 1.5hrs later than the 3hr window given, no courtesy call or anything. Arrived, spent more time phaffing around with his tablet complaining about not having any reception than looking at the gas heater I'd requested the service for then quoted over $1200 to service a heater I could replace for less. Charged $141 callout for literally nothing.
