RC 10/10 fast and effective service went above and beyond and talked us through the whole process and made sure we knew everything getting done at every step highly recommend
Worst experience ever. Felt like we were scammed. Did not fix the plumbing issue at all.(Blocked Toilet from tree roots) We were charged over $1000.00 for a job not done. Had another plumber come in after to actually fix the problem and was only charged $330.00 They tried to upsale and say there were more problems. Left their sticker on our… Read more
hot water system without asking. Do not use this company. Avoid at all cost. Feel totally taken for a ride.
Please be aware of the substandard work and the extreme over charging of this company. I regret using this company. The Office of the Technical Regulator inspected the work, and said there were a number of non compliant issues, which really made me angry!

Washing machine installer caused a pipe leak and told me I’d need a plumber to sort it out. Tried 8 other plumbers before reluctantly calling Metropolitan because I was aware of their reputation. In addition to $141 call-out fee, they wanted to charge $949 to fix the leak. I told them where they could stick that quote. Proof that they are absolute… Read more
shonks is the fact that the next plumber (a local guy) fixed it in 30 mins for $170. Lesson learned: even if you’re desperate, never, ever call Metropolitan Plumbing. The negative reviews are 100% correct.
I called them to fix a toilet that wasn’t flushing and ended up getting scammed. They charged me $1,849 to replace a plastic cistern that costs around $300–$400. Since I didn’t know the actual price and trusted them as a big company—plus it was urgent—I agreed to it. But there’s no way it should have cost that much! DO NOT ENGAGE ANY SERVICE WITH THEM! Would give a no star if it was possible. Don't go near these people. Nothing can justify the over the top pricing. Was quoted $8k to replace a continuous flow hot water system. Plus an extra $7k to upgrade the power board to a smart meter. ($14248 total) Got another quote which was $1770 to supply and fit with the power point. They also pointed me… Read more
in the direction of help available for pensioners which reduced the amount even further. Don't go near Metropolitan Plumbing.
Would give zero stars if I could. Had a simple blocked kitchen drain. My partner got charged $950 for 5 minutes of work. Insulting to the businesses and sole traders out there doing the right thing. I feel for the vulnerable and elderly that this company rip off. Never go here.
Yesterday while gardening I punctured my mains copper pipe with a pitch fork. I called metropolitan plumbing at 17:30 thinking I wasn’t really into AH call out time but that wasn’t the case. Guy on the phone was pleasant enough and guaranteed the job would be complete this evening with no AH fees. I paid the $140 call out fee over the phone.… Read more
Plumber arrived at 7pm had a look at the already exposed job which was literally a single hole in the pipe. He went tap tap tap on his iPad and presented me with a $1300.00 quote. I nearly fell over crying, maybe laughing. I explained that I was aware that it would be possibly a 30min repair. He explained he didn’t make the fees and mentioned how they do 100s of these jobs. I politely declined which he seemed quite shocked about. Any way long story short I had an amazing local plumber come today between his other jobs completed repair in 20mins and charged $180. So grateful for finding an honest tradesman. People beware of signing up for any job with metropolitan plumbing. Wish I had checked previous feedback before loosing my $140 call out fee clearly sharks who are taking advantage of many Shame shame.

RC replaced my tap ware - prompt response on short notice. Two different quotes to choose from and other household taps were reviewed for assessment and a future quote provided. Thank you for your support!
JT and CC........ DID NOT do a fantastic job, they ripped out my solar hot water service telling me they cant get the solar hot water tank anymore, but I have since found out it was a lie, they charged us $6,500 . we were desperate because our old one ripped down the side so we did not have any hot water but you would think you should be able to… Read more

Hello, Got a. $140 attendance fee to change out a .3.6kw heating element on a HWS. Tradesperson quoted over 800 dollars. This was to replace the element supplied by the owner. Turn off a switch. Remove a cover. Undo 2 wire terminals and another 4 1/4 inch bolts to remove the element. Put in new element ,do up 4 little bolts , screw back 2 fork… Read more
terminals , replace cover , turn water back on and reenergize breaker. Less than 15 minutes work. Hence the reply to the quote was a resounding NO THANKS.

RC great same day service. Process for what was going to be done and cost explained simply as well. Update 12/09/25: After a few months since I had this job done, and a bit more research into things I have found that I was over charged for the work completed. The guy who came out was great, customer service wise, but I really feel like I should… Read more
have searched around better rather than just clicking on the google sponsored link. (Rating changed from 5 to 2)
Booked online 10am Monday. No reply. Booked again today at midday no reply. Misleading ads saying they work 24/7. I know now why they don’t charge extra for weekends or public holidays is because nobody works.

Please beware! Used this company to install a hot water system. They overcharged for the install, which costs $7,500. I referred to the Office of the Technical Regulator, who found non compliance in a number of issues. I got stung big time!
My plumber was unavailable and used this mob for an after hours sewer emergency. Complete and utter scammers - didn't give us a price and being an emergency at hand went ahead believing they would charge reasonably. They took advantage of the situation. Charged call-out $141.90 and all up over $1000 for 15 mins work to clear a minor sewer blockage… Read more
and told it was a fixed price regardless. Then wanted payment immediately on the spot! Left their stickers everywhere on my property. Never again. DON'T USE
RC After finding a leak in the kitchen tap and an easy online submission, I receive a prompt call back to book in a service. Caller was friendly and helpful. Terms and conditions of the service model were easy to understand. The plumber helped pick out a suitable replacement that was relevant to my set up. Service was quick and easy.
AC was prompt, walked us through the options and spent time explaining the pros and cons. Appreciated his transparency and how quickly he managed to have something sorted out very quickly.
Quoted us 50k to get our air conditioning service repaired. Stated they needed to cut holes in our roof, have a crane on site, remove solar panels to do the job. We then had another quote for 20K and the job was done in 1 day. No holes, cranes, moving solar panels, etc. Such crooks. Now being investigated by accc
Unfair – I recently had a plumbing service that left me absolutely stunned—not because of the quality of work, but because of the outrageous cost. The job itself was incredibly simple: replacing a short section of copper pipe and a pressure-reducing valve (PRV). It took the plumber no more than 10 minutes to complete, yet I was handed a bill for nearly… Read more
$3,000.
To say this is ridiculous would be an understatement. I understand that plumbing services come with labor costs, materials, and expertise, but this price was beyond excessive for such a basic job. A PRV and some copper piping do not come close to justifying this kind of charge. There was no complex diagnosis, no difficult repairs—just a straightforward swap that was over in minutes.
What’s even more frustrating is the lack of transparency. I was not informed beforehand that such a routine fix would come with an astronomical price tag. Had I known, I would have absolutely sought other options. Instead, I was blindsided by an invoice that felt more like highway robbery than a fair service charge.
I strongly urge anyone considering this company to be extremely cautious and ask for a full breakdown of pricing before agreeing to anything. While I respect the work that plumbers do, this level of overcharging is completely unacceptable. I will never use this service again and will make sure others are aware of my experience.
If you value fairness, transparency, and reasonable pricing, look elsewhere.
Deceptive and predatory conduct. Exorbitant pricing. Left to pay call out fee with nothing done – They lure you in by informing you that after covering the call out fee you will pay "regular rates" for the rest of the work. What they don't inform you is that those "regular rates" are EXPONENTIALLY higher than most other reasonable quotes for the same work. Firstly, after paying the call out fee up front and being promised someone would… Read more
"arrive within the hour" they then proceeded to inform that they were delayed. I am sure most everyone is probably told they can come within the hour to secure the call out fee regardless of real wait times.
When they finally arrived and quoted for the works required, I am presented with "Gold, Silver and Bronze" packages ranging from $950 - $2.5k of course the $2.5k being my ideal solution and the $950 bronze option being to simply cap the pipe and render the leaking tap unusable.
So they deceive you to get the initial call out fee paid, then move to their predatory pricing to get you to cough up in order to 1: Not forfeit your call out fee with nothing done, and 2: Get the work done so you can (in our case) get your mains water back on.
In my case I decided that even forfeiting the call out fee and paying another plumber would come out to less than half of the more than $1k they wanted to charge to simply cap the pipe, and I was right. But I am still angry that they wasted my time (and deposit) with such deception. I don't know how people sleep at night taking advantage of people like this.

Ripping off the invuneralble – My son who has a learning dissability was taken by these crooks. He needed a new hot water cylinder done he was charged over $8000 to replace an existing one. They charged him nearly 5K for the cylinder that you can buy at bunnings for $500 and nearly $600 for a tray for it to sit in. Than the labour over $3000 for less than a days work.
Amazing Plumbing Repair – Thanks JH for coming out and getting the drain issues sorted. You have gone above and beyond helping us and being so nice. Thank you!!
Overpriced ++++++ – Pros - nice guy and kind of explained what was wrong with the roof. Cons - outrageously expensive?! $1850 'inspection fee' just to climb on the roof with a ladder, spend 15mins looking and tell me some rivets and silicone need replacing, quoted another $1090 to do the actual repair.
Scammers – PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THEY ARE SCAMMERS AND WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ANY TRUSTING OR VULNERABLE PEOPLE. My central air-conditioning stopped working so I called them up. One guy shows up has a quick look and assures me that he had seen this issue before and that a $2249 'rejuvenation' would fix the problem. I questioned this and he… Read more
reiterated "I wouldn't bulls#!t ya, if I didn't think it'd fix it I wouldn't recommend it". I stupidly paid this trusting that a business I'd called for help wouldn't scam me. He left and another man came out. He spent 2 hours cleaning the aircon unit, looking around and taking photos of anything he could charge me for. He then said it was broken, needed new parts and this would cost $10,000 but he recommended and pushed that I pay $20,000 to replace the unit. Realising I'd already been scammed I did not pay this. So I basically paid $2249 for nothing. I have tried speaking with customer service but they aways say no one is available. I have contacted them via email and they say that this is the regular price for that service.
I have since had a decent electrician come out and fix the problem without needing any new parts for only $220.
Air-conditioning – A.C. was very helpful and made the whole process a breeze. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and I think he is a huge asset to your organisation
Evaporative cooler, great service from A.C – Fantastic service from the Team and specifically A.C. extremely helpful and quick to action, fair priced and very informative.
Rip off – A simple fix of a faulty copper to poly pipe join was quoted nearly $1900. The hole was already dug. This is outrageous Water off so ground was pretty dry as we waited 4.5hrs for the plumber to waste our time. And I paid about $140 for this privilege. Called someone else. Fixed for half the price. Please don’t waste your time or money.
Totally scammed!!!!!!! But it's legal!!! – Before you even read my review below, google the Metropolitan Plumbing and Electrical story on A Current Affair September 2023 on YouTube. is not against the law to charge what you want but what they are charging their unsuspecting customers is outrageous. Got home from the beach on 2nd January to find I had no power & the safety switch would not correct. So contacted this electrical service who actually had the cheapest call out fee of $140 & was the only one I called who could attend on the day & now I know why - they make a fortune this way. The electrician arrived within the hour which was great but then it began. He couldn’t find the problem immediately so then he had to do an investigation - quote $1100!!! The $1100 investigation included using a little device & checking all the plugs in the house - not brain surgery! Funnily the problem was the fridge - one of the first applianes and power points he should have checked for my $1100. So that took half an hour & then the even better news. He said the fridge had blown the safety switch which leading to another quote of $1250 to replace it. So for just over an hour’s work & one safety switch I was charged over $2300! Plus I had to buy a new fridge! So he said. I'm not an electrician so how would I know what he is telling me is correct. HOW IS THIS OVERCHARGING LEGAL? What is going on with how business is being conducted during this cost of living crisis is totally outrageous. This has to be price gouging at its most audacious! Not happy Jan!!!! The day after I rang Business & Consumer Affairs and this company is under investigation by them - also they have been featured many times on A Current Affair for this very thing. But according to the law they can charge what they like. So anyone wanting to use their services please, please read the product reviews like I should have!!!!! in fact read the product reviews before you employ any contractor - it will save a lot of time and money.
