Great Car for a compact SVU

I have a 2021 MG ZST Excite. The car was a treat to myself and overall I've been pretty happy. Yes every now and then the tech screen blanks out for a few minutes and after a service it can take up to 2 week to get the trophy system back. I love the push button start and the size if great with plenty of space. Fuel efficiency leaves a bit to be desired but it is a great car. Just recently though it seems to be quite loud when driving which is a total mystery i am top scared to ask them to look at it as i know they will want my car for a day. I will never take it to MG for a service again as i have had to take it back for small issues like resetting the service reminder. Show details

Unexpected Engine Fault in New MG ZST at 11,000 km: A Concern for Quality Standards

I recently experienced a significant issue with my MG ZST, which I purchased 10 months ago. At around 11,000 kilometers, a engine fault has developed.

This is particularly concerning given the advancements in automotive technology and manufacturing in recent years.

As a customer, this has significantly impacted my trust in the quality and reliability of the vehicle. The occurrence of such a critical fault in a new and minimally used car seems to indicate a potential lapse in manufacturing standards or quality control.

I believe it's important for potential buyers to be aware of this experience when considering this model. Show details

lOVE THIS CAR

Recommend it. Loaded with features. Safety features for of older drivers.

Takes some time to get used to trusting some of the features.

On the brink of hands free driving but requiring you to be in control.

My Google review: Everyone I met was top notch. Professional, no gimmick. Johnston is a a great guy and recommend him. This color was made for this car or was the car made for the color. Worth the wait to get one of the first on the Peninsula. Show details

Lemon

Has many problems. Slow to accelerate making it dangerous entering traffic, gear system issues, touch screen is very slow to respond. Engine is too small for a car this size. Several other issues around electrics. Show details

Good car overall, just quirks in electronics

Turbo model is fast and zippy, easy to manoeuvre. Only have issues with electronics, headlights kept turning on in daylight, rain wiper sensor not working, speed sign detection needs to be turned on each time, settings don't save. Occasional grinding sound heard & felt under the car happened about 3 times will need to have checked out. Suspension is not great, Good fuel efficiency Show details

I am conidering purchasing a new current model ZST Essence. I note the various comments on this website but I am specifically interested in how much heat the panoramic sunroof lets in. If the interior heats up too much this would be a show-stopper to my impending purchase.

Does MG update the Sat Nav maps, 4 week old car maps are dated 2021, went on a drive along the M11 between Springvale Road and Lower Dandenong Road Melbourne and the maps do not show the freeway, yet I believe that part of the freeway opened in 2021. Getting advice that MG do not provide map updates, is that true.

I purchased a new MG ZST Vibe 3 weeks ago, since day 3, the Engine Warning Light appeared, MG had the car for 5 days and finally concluded that the issue was with a faulty sensor, for which they had no spares, new sensors have been ordered from China and could take a few months to arrive, MG stating that the car is perfectly safe to drive.
The first time a filled with petrol, I used Ron 91, I then read that many owners use Ron 95/98, so today I filled an almost empty tank with Ron 98, within a few minutes, the engine warning light disappeared, and the No Faults detected symbol appeared, so far so good, so is it possible that the ZST does actually require a higher Ron rating than MG state, although the handbook does state Min. 91 thereby giving the option of using higher grade fuel which appear to satisfy the sensors.

Hi Robert I have been using the recommended petrol except every 2nd tank I put in 95 and I never let tank go below 1/2 haven't had a problem hope that helps
