While on holiday in Moorloolaba, the alternator on my Ranger stopped working properly. At home, I trust both our cars' servicing to MIDAS. Hence why I approached the nearest MIDAS on this occasion. This was a big mistake! I called and explained my situation, and they offered to check the alternator asap. I expressed my appreciation and drove… Read more
straight down. After a very short period of time, only a couple of minutes, the receptionist told me my alternator needs replacing, and it would be $800.00. This verbal quote was offered without a detailed explanation or alternative action, such as using a reconditioned unit to save costs: no written quote and no explanation as to the possible cause. In fact, the mechanic couldn't confidently answer any of my questions. Deflecting and remaining very vague. Since there was no manager present, I had no alternative but to walk away and reassess my options. Not good enough.
I was happy with the previous manager however the change is not up to any reasonable standard. I don't like false stories and I got another quote for repairs at a third of Midas Port adelaides . Will not be back. Show details
Follow-up · Really, how could I recommend them when I don't think that i received good value for the service although they said that I needed something else fixed and quoted me a further $900. 00 so I shopped around and My Care Auto at West Lakes quoted me $394.00. How would you feel with that experience?
Worst company ever. AVOID!!!!! The company and Sean from the hoppers crossing store are thieves and liars. I’d give zero stars if I could. They actually cut wires to get more money from repairs. Show details

Unscruoulous – My Honda Jazz was serviced at Midas Woollahra at 30,000. The total was $900 which is the most I've ever paid for a car service. Even my last Honda Jazz at 10 years old was only up to $600 once. This current car was 4 years old. I checked with Honda and they said changing the disc rotors which was done and cost $239 would never need doing on a… Read more
Jazz at 30K and rarely even at 100K. They changed brake pads which Honda said would unlikely need doing and this mechanic was of strong view that they did work hat didn't need doing or charged and didn't even change the parts. They did ask for permission before starting but I don't know anything about cars and I assumed it was necessary.
Bad experience – Nine weeks to fix my car after forgetting to order the parts $500 down payment. No communication, I was required to approach the store after no one would return my calls. Checked the oil today to discover that the vehicle was missing bolts securing aircon lines. Will not use again and will deter others. Show details

Midas Car Service: High prices on replacement parts and non-performed services – - They charged me $ 362 more for replacement parts than the market value. - They did not perform the engine wash service as they told me (and who knows what else) - They did not comply with the committed times. My experience in detail: I came to live in Sydney from Melbourne in June, so I was looking for a reliable mechanic to service my car,… Read more
the only previous owner was a rental car which always did the maintenance with his logbook. Two local friends recommended Midas to me, they trusted the service they offer at an attractive price ($179).
I scheduled a visit for a Friday, but they called me to leave it on Wednesday at 8 am, they told me they would have it ready at noon. At 2 pm I still didn't know anything, I called and they told me they were just going to scan it (I took it early and lost my morning for nothing). At 3 pm, [name removed] calls me and tells me that the car, apart from the service they performed (oil and filter change), throws errors in coil no. 4 and that therefore he recommended me to change all of them, and that I also needed to change the brake fluid, and it dictated the following service values:
$ 88 Brake fluid (include "free" wash) $ 136 "Platinum" Spark plugs (4 x 34 ea) $ 476 Coils pack (4 x 119 ea) $ 66 Coils/plugs replacement service charge $ 120 Cabin filter replacement (or pollen) $ 179 Service (Oil & oil filter)
My father is a mechanic and I know that platinum plugs are high quality for extra life and therefore more expensive. I asked him if I could change them for cheaper ones, but he said no, they were "special" ones that my car used and had no choice, so I agreed.
I had already thought about changing the cabin filter and I knew that its cost is only $15, the change is simple like adding gasoline (it is removed without tools from the passenger side feet) so I said that I was not interested, And as I was urged to have the car to work (as a food delivery man) I had no choice but to tell him to do the work to have the car to work as quickly as possible to work. [name removed] told me he would be the next day, "early morning".
The next day they told me just at noon that the car was ready when I went to pick it up, [name removed] attended to me and asked him which "Platinum Spark Plugs" they had put in, he changed the story and told me that "they were not platinum, but that a little longer than the normal ones, and that's what they called them ". How his answer caught my attention, I asked him about the brand of the coils to which he replied "I have no idea, I don't remember", being that he himself requested the spare parts from a supplier the day before.
Finally, I asked him to deliver a ticket with the details, while he was doing it he told me that they had supposedly changed the cabin filter and done a "free" engine wash, and he gave me an additional discount of $47. However, I cannot give myself any details other than the brand of spark plugs (NGK) that he himself wrote on the ballot.
The same week the battery in my car died, when I went to buy the new one I realized that the engine had not been washed. Since it was the second lie after the spark plugs, I quoted the parts (with the VIN number, so the recommended parts for my car) and they were all much cheaper, Midas charged me an extra $362 for the same or worse parts.
Think twice before taking your car.

Very poor customer service. Won’t recommend Midas Indooroopilly Visited Midas Indooroopilly for brake pad replacement. The receptionist booked me a time and mentioned essential service for $249. Got a call in afternoon that essential service is… Read more
completed which didn’t include brake pad replacement.
We service our car from Hyundai and got it serviced couple of months back. Never did I mention that I needed any car service. The receptionist misunderstood and was not ready to agree what we requested for ie brake pad replacement. The receptionist charged the full amount and was not ready to provide any alternate solution for resolving our original request.
As a customer it is Midas responsibility to elaborate what Essential service comprised of. On inquiry got to know it included oil replacement, labour charges, filter clean etc.
Midas was not ready to provide any solution or alternative to address our concern. Midas has a surveillance camera recording and hope management looks into the issue so they know what customer has originally requested.
Follow-up · Won’t recommend. The essential service didn’t specify what was to be done. Original complaint was to change brake pads which was never addressed. We went to Hyundai dealers who charge more but are atleast ethical and for us it is peace of mind.

Absolutely rubbish service. Took two cars for their safety inspection and they couldn’t even get the VIN numbers correct on the paperwork. Went to the TMR centre where they told me their certificate was incorrect. Then had to waste another 2 hours to try and get their mistakes to be amended. Can’t even follow basic simple processes. Avoid.

I had the misfortune to choose Midas to attend to an elderly car whose air con didn't work. We were to drive across Australia in high temperatures so this was vital. under pressure) and charged us around $200 + tax. Not merely across the Nullabor did the air con fail pumping out hot air but in getting into the engine space they disconnected the car/radio dvd player which was equally essential for us in the car with no data in remote areas. What was meant to be a good spend , we were charged for a non functioning air con and damage to our radio. Never again. To fix the radio would be excessive and utterly redundant now we are settled in Perth

to identify a serious issue that could have left me stranded—especially considering I live in a rural area.
When I returned to question a concerning noise, they casually mentioned that my car needed to stay for even longer because the previous mechanic (who had worked on it) no longer worked there and had missed a critical issue. No call, no warning—just a complete lack of communication. I had to chase them up myself, calling twice on the morning of collection, only to find out they had replaced another part without even getting my approval first. Then they had the nerve to “discount” the repair as if that made up for their incompetence.
Because of their disorganisation, I was forced to rent another vehicle and make an extra trip—over two hours each way—to pick up my car two weeks later. To top it all off, my husband’s glasses, which had been in the car, were missing. I didn’t even bother calling about that because I knew I’d just get more excuses.
This place is an absolute joke. Unprofessional, unreliable, and completely lacking in customer service. Do yourself a favour and take your car anywhere else
Midas Maroochydore, Carly extremely rude staff mbr, why? Because she is boss's wife?? Lost my business – How unfortunate. If I could give it a lower rating I would – If I could give a lower rating I would. After taking my Ute into the Dalby workshop for a fuel sender I had to get a new fuel tank which was fine because the old one was buckled. still had to get 2 sets YES TWO made locally after they destroyed the first straps trying to weld them shorter. After 5 days of myself fixing the issues they had encountered I still had to provide them with the parts to do their job. I also asked them to do a service on my Ute while they were waiting and after 5 DAYS they did not do the service, they also left my car ignition on and drained both batteries dead flat. After they tried their jump pack which nearly blew my electrics up due to a faulty jump pack I had to jump start my car with my own jumper cables and my friends car. Not only did they not do the service I also had to fit the fuel tank in myself on their hoist in their shop after they installed the sender unit Because “they couldn’t do it”. I wish I could say that was the end of it but it really wasn’t. I filled my tank completely up with 150L of diesel that night and the fuel sender was not installed correctly and was leaking a pencil sized stream from the sender unit flange. I messaged the mechanics apprentice and he stated it was not their fault and it was the tank. I proceeded to drive home and siphon the tank completely at 8:30pm and after only 3 HOURS of work and not 5 days, I refit and CORRECTLY sealed the fuel sender and refit the tank. No leaks after I had done it, the only reason I took the Ute to the mechanics was for tax purposes (keep in mind I am a heavy diesel mechanic). Oh boy if it would end there I would not be typing this up. After being charged for their work and their poor and destructive welding attempt I proceeded to write an email to the head office of Midas to highlight the issues and explain my experience with them. After over a week now and a follow up email from me I still have not heard anything back. Under no circumstances should you trust this company to work on your vehicle. Incompetence and lack of care.
Dishonest – Took my car in for a service at 58k. Came out paying 1070 for new brakes that were not needed.. Then find out they broke my tyre sensor and swapped my tyres around so I wouldn't suspect it. Contacted head office with a complaint and received no response or offer to fix. I have had to pay over $200 to have a new sensor fitted and the TPMS system reset to fix their mistake. I'm disgusted. Was a loyal customer for years and it meant nothing. Show details

about the oil when I dropped my car. They also charge 'Waste management fee", " Sundry workshop suppliers' which I think should be included as part of the standard service fee advertised. Also, there is not even a sticker left for oil change date or a reminder and no logbook stamp as stated on my invoice. This made me unsure if my car was serviced or not. Anyway, a very disappointing experience. I urge other customers to be careful about what you paid and what you got.
