VACUUM - MIELE - Cat & Dog: Highly effective for cat hair removal and terrific suction! – After years with mediocre vacuums at the cheaper end of the market I decided I wanted a vacuum with serious suction, and importantly - that would make easy work of cat hair. This model did all this! A cranky white-haired moulting cat, and a chocolate-black sofa - demands a regular vacuum. The suction and general turbo head is very good. The… Read more ·  1

smaller turbo-head designed specially for furniture, etc, is amazing! Loud - but effective. While the suction of the unit appears still good after almost three years, the turbo heads need some maintenance to restore effectiveness. The brushes in the heads have worn little, though needs threads removed from time to time, that wrap around the rotating brush. BEWARE - use near any cords, blind cords, or other cord-like items... they will very easily, and violently get caught in the turbo-head.

The variable suction control buttons come in handy. Especially removing flower petals/stamen from tablecloths etc.

While the head effectiveness overall has dropped a little with time - I still strongly recommend this unit.

It's a monster! – I've owned a few vacuum cleaners over the years, most of them relatively cheap and nasty. The cheap and nasty ones are fine for a couple of months then they'd loose suction and ultimately fail. I got sick of buying them and throwing them away so a few years back I decided to take the plunge and spend a reasonable amount of money on a replacement… Read more ·  1

that I hope to get the job done for years. I researched and considered my decision thoroughly and while temped by the trendy bag-less Dyson, I just wasn't quite sold on them after using them on several occasions. Don'd get me wrong, they're ok but when it comes down to suction for the money they cost, I just didn't think they were all that.

So I bought this baby, and 5 years down the line I could not be happier that I did. The main selling point is the suction of the thing, it was then and still is now incredible. At full power it just about sticks itself to carpet and can take some effort to move. It's lost none of it's power either and has not missed a beat. I suppose the only negative against it would be the fact that it requires replacement bags. I don't really find it an issue, they hold a lot and they are relatively cheap.

In short, it's a vacuum, it seriously sucks in the best possible way and continues to do so over a fair period of time and shows no sign of letting up any time soon. I hope this to be my vacuum for life but if I found myself in need of a new one, I would absolutely buy another Miele.

Only lasted 3 years of intermittent use – 3 years ago replaced a faithful old Wertheim with this Miele Cat & Dog. The suction was close to being as powerful as the Wertheim (which was and is the most powerful vacuum I've seen) when new, and for 2.5 years the Miele was good for occasional use - maybe 5-6 times per year. But now it is broken, and not through any abuse either. The motor… Read more

still works but the suction doesn't - the lid to the bag and filter area has the cheapest plastic hinges I've seen and they have somehow failed - it no longer shuts tight. the result of this is that the suction now pulls around the lid rather than through the hose. Basically it is a failure that renders the whole machine useless and would be impossible to repair for less than the cost of the vacuum. It's now junk.

I'm very upset with Miele - supposedly a good brand - on two counts. One, as stated is these incredibly rickety plastic hinges on the bag lid. But two is the whole design of it which seemed to have put a lot of air pressure stress on the lid in the first place.

There is a happy postscript to this. The Wertheim was only replaced because it had started to wear around the point where the hose meets the body and required duct tape around the wear point. But I didn't have the heart to throw it out so it sat in the garage for 3 years (in the box the Miele came in) in its own filth and somewhere along the line acquired a nest of insects in there too. With the Miele failing I dug the Wertheim out, manually emptied the full bag (no spare bags any more), shooed away the insects, re-taped the worn hose, and started her up. Started up quiet and with more suction than the Miele ever had. The old powerhead worked great too. We will use this Wertheim for a while more and when needed replace it with another Wertheim - never again another Miele.

Would NEVER buy any other brand!! – I have oak floors and carpeting. The Miele S8310 I bought in 2013 is still going strong. Never any trouble with it. Love the retractable cord, LOVE the adjustable suction. The bags are a bit pricey and I use a considerable amount because of my dog's hair shedding. The vacuum misses nothing! Picks up dog hair, dust, etc. with ease. Convenient in vac storage of tools, cord and fittings. Show details ·  1

The best! – The S8 UniQ is my third Miele vacuum cleaner. My others were very good so I purchased this one with confidence. I certainly haven't been disappointed. It is everything I could ever want. I love its powerful suction for my floors, I love that I can decrease the suction down to very gentle for my curtains, and I love that it also has many… Read more ·  1

suction levels for upholstery. It has a low-noise option for those who are sensitive and a generous cord which stores itself inside the machine with the tap of a button. It comes with many attachments - power head, small brush, crevice device etc. I use them all and cleaning thoroughly would be much more difficult without them. I can definitely recommend Miele vacuum cleaners and this model particularly.

The Best Vacuum I ever used!! – I have tried so many different vacuums as I was working as a house helper (I used vacuums that the families own at their home) for 4 years and worked for approx 50 different houses. I found this vacuum is the best! Miele brand makes high-quality appliances, and this vacuum does an excellent job. Also, the vacuum bag has a big capacity, so it… Read more

Disappointing – I have had this vacuum cleaner for nearly 2 years and I've had the turbo head stop working and replaced. Now the replacement foot has also stopped working. And the regular foot is soooo hard to push because the roller won't turn freely. It has great suction however trying to vacuum with the regular foot is like trying to push water up hill with a stick. Disappointing. Especially as i bought the top of the range.  Show details

Very very dissapointed, not worth the $$ – I bought the cat and dog vacuum ( not sure of the exact model though) A very disappointing vacuum. Worked a treat for a year no problems, then lid keeps popping open, hepa filter cartridge keeps popping out. Have replaced this filter twice already. ( which I know you are supposed to do regularly). Great vacuum, bad power head – Have had this vacuum for a about 7 years now and while the actual vacuum is good and suction is great, this will be the 3rd power head we have to replace and at $110 each its just not worth it. Hair gets caught and heats up and melts the plastic joints on the power head . Cutting the hair off doesn't help and to clean it out you have to undo the… Read more

whole thing which takes about 45 mins. Not sure why they make the bearings out of plastic Instead of metal, if it was metal it wouldn't happen. We bought this to replace a dyson and while we found the suction better, we never ever had a problem with hair getting caught.

Fantastic vacuum cleaner – I highly recommend the Miele Vacuum cleaners, and we are so impressed with the guys at Betta Electricals Virginia QLD, they are a great bunch of guys and so helpful. We have brought so many of our electrical goods from them. Before we brought the Miele, we unfortunately had brought a Dyson for just under the $1,000 (not from Betta Electricals)… Read more

and what a rotten machine that was, its suction was pathetic and even our cheap $45 machine did a better job. Two weeks after we brought it, Dyson said to send it back which we did and in its box. They then sent it back saying that there was nothing wrong with it, so we sold it cheap and brought the Miele Vacuum S8310 Classic Family Caretaker Diamond Grey for a quarter of the price and even at half suction it just about sucked the wood off the floor and from the power of the suction, we felt that our carpets would be clean. I haven't felt that amount of suction since we had a commercial vacuum cleaner, and you can vary the amount of suction to suit the flooring.. The only complaint that I have on my now old Miele is that today after 6 years the switch went, but we have been so happy with it that we just went and got another one from Betta Electricals.

Not bad – Although this machine is now discontinued I wanted to put my thoughts out there as I am sure some of the components will still be the same todays vacuums. The Good...... The motor is fantastic. Great suction. Gives quite a work out on some tyoes of carpets due to its suction power. Good design of the body having rubber protection around the… Read more

sides. Protects your walls, doors and furniture.

The not so good....

-The curved part that connects the hose to the wand is very fragile. (This is the part that has the flimsy air flow adjustment on it.) It is made from very thin plastic and will break over time. Approx $75 to replace. If you can get the part. Our part broke in 2019. So thats four years of use. Still, it shouldn't break. Such a short piece of plastic it should have been a lot thicker. -The Hepa filter securing tab is inadequate. It just doesn't function as it is supposed too. Over time (and not too long to honest) its rebound spring goes flat. Therefore it does not hold the hepa filter in place very well. -The vacuum hose head unit: Carpet or hard floor adjuster. (This is the part you use your foot on to change setting) It does not stay in place very well at all. A small bump and it flicks back to hardwood surface setting so you are constantly having to press it back down when vacuuming hard surfaces.

And thats about it. A good vacuum, but has a few faults. The worst and most inconveinient and expensive is the hose/wand connector. If you cannot source the part, your vacuums pretty much useless. Unless you can 'Macgyver' it :-)

Most reliable vacuum cleaner – I have two vacuum cleaners, Miele as well as a Dyson. The Miele is my "workhorse" which I much prefer. When I accidentally sucked up some moisture and the bag burst within the Miele, I was able to clean out the machine and it still works perfectly. Best vacuum, ever! – I have owned my Miele Cat and Dog for at least 15 years (probably longer) and the motor is still going strong. up well after my cat and dog (long haired). The standard nozzle/head is getting a bit worn so I have started using the spinning bush head which works well. Body integrity poor – Suction is ok but the lid keeps popping open and the filter slips out of position & suddenly the vacuum cleaner screeches noisily. We've had it repaired once but 12 months later it is happening again. Have to tape the top of the vacuum cleaner into position so we can vacuum. & take the tape off so we can empty the bag. would spend the money on a decent machine. I researched all the product reviews and decided on the Miele Cat & Dog Turbo. (I have a dog that constantly sheds hair.)

Well! Vacuuming is now a breeze. It glides quietly, easily, cleanly, and sucks up everything. Everything about this machine makes sense - the tools are great and stack on board, the turbo head has powerful suction, and I love that the cleaner rod slots into the barrel when finished. Now, I vacuum before I really need to. Amazing.
