ACCC and NZCP, these fees are the liability of Mighty Ape, however they are not acknowledging responsibility or attempting to resolve the issue. I will be escalating this appropriately.

straightforward “not as described” issue, Mighty Ape has not provided a prompt or decisive resolution. . Instead, I have been repeatedly directed to their internal marketplace process while they “investigate with the seller.” Communication has been slow and resolution efforts have lacked urgency.

More concerning, the seller issued return labels containing inaccurate customs declarations — one declaring the item as a “gift”, and another declaring the value as $1. These declarations did not reflect the true nature or value of the goods.

Using such documentation could have exposed me to risk if questioned by customs authorities, and may have resulted in the shipment being held or delayed for an extended period. I declined to use these labels for that reason.

Purchasing through a major NZ retailer’s marketplace should provide oversight, accountability, and consumer protection. In this case, responsibility has effectively been pushed back onto the third-party seller while I have been left to escalate the matter myself. 8 days on, no resolution and Mighty Ape is not responsive.

Based on this experience, the marketplace’s lack of responsiveness and its handling of my statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act is sufficient for me to shop elsewhere in future.

1st of November, 18 transactions done using a kiwibank debit obtained fraudulently. Contacted mightyape on 2nd November, heard back from them on the 3rd. Explained what had happened. are not mightyapes responsibility to step in and use the nz police to investigate further. Kiwibank say up to 8 weeks to conclude the matter. If I had not reached out to mightyape and left to kiwibank, all transactions would have been delivered weeks before kiwibank would have chased it up. Mightyape you should be ashamed of yourself that you allow people to use a debit card that is not the same name as the customer. Never will I ever use the services of mightyape or affiliated companies Shame on you mightyape, just another retailer who does not care. $1000 in total. only 24 hours. Hoping for the best, I contacted Mighty Ape and politely asked if a partial refund might be possible—even though I didn’t really expect a reply.

To my surprise, I was contacted several days later by a friendly and professional customer service team member named Hannah, who kindly arranged a $60 PayPal refund. I later checked my account and, sure enough, it was there. That gesture went a long way in restoring my confidence and left a very positive impression.

This kind of proactive, human-centred service is rare these days, and it really stands out—especially for someone like me who collects games seriously and appreciates every dollar saved.

All the games I’ve received from Mighty Ape so far have arrived factory sealed and properly packed, which is vital for collectors. It’s a far cry from EB Games, who often post unsealed copies with sticker residue and careless packaging. And with Big W increasingly hosting EB Games marketplace listings, I’m growing hesitant to continue purchasing from them too.

Thankfully, I still have Mighty Ape and JB Hi-Fi—two retailers I trust for sealed games at competitive prices.

timeframe) only to be meet with a second notification almost instantly advising they had failed to catch me and the delivery was cancelled. No attempt what so ever was made, as both my partner and I were in the lounge which is road facing with the curtains open and nothing was captured on my CCTV, also road facing. I suspect the driver wasn't happy with the distance and opted to can the order instead of completing it as they're contracted to do.

Anri G either needs a course on customer service and work ethic or have their driver status reviewed.

I have no intention to order from mighty ape in the future, instead opting for a company who's employee's value customer experience.

of the way - top marks, girls & guys. My parcel was VERY well packaged, too. As for the product itself? Well, I haven't built the models just yet but the detail, moulding etc. seems top-notch - as you would expect from Hasegawa. In the late 80's/early 90's, I was lucky enough to stumble over a couple of the orignal releases of these intriguing figures (manufactured I believe by the now defunct Nitto Kagaku Company, a former Japanese model kit manufacturer). As I have subsequently discovered, Maschinen Krieger actually has a back-story set in the distant future, post WWIV. The original creators apparently drew inspiration from WWI and WWII amoury & aircraft, the US Space Program and SF movies such as Bladerunner, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior and the like, which more than likely is what lent the Ma.K ZBV3000 universe its Steampunk like traits - quite possibly before Steampunk was a thing. The only very small quibble that I may have with the newer Hasegawa renditions is that (hydraulic?) tubes from each limb to the main suit is now a solid plastic moulding, whereas the with the original Nitto Kagaku models, these were a represented by a tight metal spring reinforced with very thin strong wire - which gave the models more posibility. Also, any antennae etc. were actually represented by the same very thin, strong wire which you could bend to shape as required. The Hasegawa ones are, again - plastic, but as I've said, these a very minor quibbles and I look forward immensely to building these kits.

Gave Mighty Ape a second go after a not so great experience 4 years ago. Vast improvement and excellent all round. Bought four large Lego sets. Individual packaging if sets in very good, fitted cardboard boxes, quick shipping considering from NZ and customer service really good also :)

The Mighty Ape shopping site was easy to navigate, had a great range of products at affordable prices and the delivery charge was reasonable. My parcel was delivered by Australia Post. It had great tracking information, arrived on time in good condition and used NO plastic in the packaging. I'm a very satisfied customer!

Why would I purchase anything from a company that takes 2 weeks to respond just wiggle out of a supplying a gift card. And it wasn't a mistake because I tested the same offer on the MightApe and it added thr gift card to the trolley automatically - so they're also willing to plainly lie to customers.

Would avoid purchasing anything from this company due to clear evidence of low integrity culture.

Horrible company. Ordered a book that two months to arrive, then 4 months after ordering they start charging my card for a subscription service I never authorised. They do not even have a phone number for me to call to reverse it. Go Trademe, Amazon or Temu. These guys are a scam

kogans money pinching model where they take no responsibility for their 3rd party product support and you're stuck with relying on some company that couldn't care less about you to respond to your product issues with mighty ape doing nothing to help.

This is what happens when a company gets bought buy another one that has no interest in keeping the customer or their experience at the heart. It becomes a tatty Temu knockoff without any charm, ux design, personality or customer care.

Postage problems – I have to start by saying I like Mighty Ape. I have used them numerous times, and always been pleased with my purchases. Considering in the past that included vinyl which arrived without any problems. I was disappointed that with this item, a large Lego set, the box and contents arrived with crush marks. I wouldn’t mind so much, but the cost of postage was particularly high.
