Best budget 7 seater – I use it 50% Uber and 50% family. School runs, interstate drives, except towing. I replaced the 18 inch wheels with 20s. And the ride is tolerable at times until i runover pot holes. I havent had any issues. Bought the car as an ex rental. The car has done over 230,000 kms, and so far no issues. Just usual maintenance from handbook recommendation. Show details
Great car, no fuss driving – 2017 Outlander purchased new. I was reluctant to buy Mitsubishi, but this Outlander was way ahead of its competitors on price, equipment, comfort and quality. I purchased the safety pack AWD, and it was worth every cent. We have taken this car from South Australia to Queensland in the worst rain I have ever driven in and it never missed a beat. I would definitely buy Mitsubishi again. Show details
Perfect car for a family with children – I have been using my Mitsubishi Outlander baught band new, October 2017. I have never had a problem and very low cost in maintenance. It does 12 to 13 km per litre of petrol for sure as I check most of the time. So far I have run 229,000 km. My mechnic says still I can run onother 200,000 km without any trouble. Show details

Reliable jack of all trades and a great car for the money – We've owned the car for just over 2 years now and it hasn't put a foot wrong. It's a very practical and well build car, one of the few SUV's that are still made in Japan. Our model had everything that we needed/wanted; 7 seats, bluetooth, 4wd, auto lights/wipers etc, all for a shade below 40k. You get a lot of car for the money, the other brands… Read more
we looked at couldn't come near that. It's spacious and quiet inside and the seats are very comfortable, on short and long trips. I use around 10-12 litres per 100klm in mixed driving leaving it in 4wd auto all the time. The 7 seats have come in very handy, though the extra 2 seats are not for long journeys. The visibility is great and I don't know how I used to go without a rear vision camera. I had to recently put on the brakes hard, with the ABS kicking in, and I was pleasantly surprised by how quick the car came to a stop, so thumbs up for that too. 5 year warrantly and 3 years fixed price servicing gives us peace of mind. Only (minor) gripes I have with the car are that it could do with a bit more power and a bit less hard plastics inside. Other than that, a reliable jack of all trades and a great car for the money!
Very nice and great all rounder – Bought a diesel AWD LS safety new last year and it is one great car. I really like driving with the adaptive cruise control. My only gripe would be I had no choice other than getting 7 seats (don't need them) but apart from that, has heaps of drivability.. great economy and power and tows the boat easily with the two tonne towing capacity (as… Read more
opposed to the petrol powered with 1600kg towing) when I test drove both engine variants prior to buying, I knew I'd be dissatisfied settling on the petrol and CVT as it felt a bit underpowered. I have owned a lot of cars over the years and find this car quite enjoyable.. and the buying experience was one of the best I've ever had.. bought this car from the Norris Group (Redcliffe Mitsubishi) and found the staff excellent, gave me the courtesy of time, information and cars to test drive and even the haggling was enjoyable (which is usually for me at least the most stressful part) would I buy another... In a heartbeat.
Expected more – Had for 12 months, not as economical as I was lead to believe it would be. Upgraded from a mitsubishi ASX, some features were not there as were in the ASX, such as retracting mirrors on locking, fuel use and other guages weren't as accurate and detailed, but these are only minor issues apart from fuel consumption which is terrible in suburban… Read more
driving even though mitsubishi claim it should be better than the ASX. On the plus side I find it more comfortable, handy compartments, drives well, limited road noise, handles well on braking. Hasn't had any 4wd experience to speak of yet and hesitant to test it out due to it being lower to the ground than traditional 4wds but it has travelled through areas with no issues where I may not have gone in a 2wd Everything seems to work well and I am glad I upgraded for the extra luggage space, legroom, seat and comfort overall. If I was to upgrade again I would hope mitsubishi give it a few tweaks to improve the looks, a few features on the dash and perhaps improve the seat position and lumbar selections for added comfort during long distance driving.

Perfect family car price and value very happy and good comfort – I using my car for work and personal use then for my everyday needs and doing the normal service and no problems at all. Very cheap to run and perfect space. Show details
Awesome - a step ahead of the rest – 140k's a day mixed freeway and city driving and weekenders. Great all round car, smooth on freeways at high speeds, responsive from a red light and fuel efficient. Services only ever 15,000k's ( unlike others ) and still same price, value ! have lasted with high k's. Tried BMW and VW but was hopeless the x3 was a beautiful car but died at 96,000k's. Just love this outlander fits our two large dogs in easy, and is our cheap commuter car but has everything you need. Extremely safe to which is ahead of majority in competition.
DON’T DO IT – 6 months ago I purchased a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander LS model. I was drawn to the fact that it had pretty much all I wanted and needed in a car for just over $30,000. This car is a gutless fuel guzzler, I’ve had electrical problem after electrical problem, won’t lock, won’t unlock, won’t start, reverseing camera won’t work, the interior quality is absolutely terrible and the seats are uncomfortable. Very disappointing Show details
Amazing 4WD vehicle at reasonable price! – We have been happy with purchase of our Outlander overall. It has served and stood to its expectations. It is a good Station Wagon type car for everyday drive with comfortable seating for 7, Eco drive for super economy, 4WD to drive on rough terrains of Australia from snowy mountains to sandy beaches. Good towing of 1600kgs. Ample room for storage. Show details
Great value for money – We purchased our new Outlander about a month ago as a new family car. It was the best value for money we could find. I absolutely love the adaptive cruise control. It is a very comfortable car to drive, the sound system is great and it has a lot of room for a medium SUV. Show details
Great car – Just got a hail-damaged, second-hand Outlander 2016 and it's a great ride. Extremely quiet and comfortable to drive, very spacious with room for up to 7 and pretty fuel economic, this is a very good car that suits tall people or a small family. The compatibility with Android Auto is a cool feature. Show details
Value for money. 2 extra seats could be bigger – I got the Mitsubishi Outlandler 2017 4WD 7 Seater Model. Value for money. But the 2 extra seats could be bigger. The automatic drive may not be the best in my opinion, could feel a bit smoother. Good on consumption. Typically gives me 10L/100Km. With enough AC use. Sales team can get a bit aggressive at selling though, so beware. Show details

Most Competitively Priced 7-Seater SUV – We purchased a 2017 ZK Outlander as it we were looking for a well-priced 7-seater SUV. Driving experience is very smooth, although it is slightly sluggish when carrying a full load. Very quiet ride, and excellent fuel economy. Spacious interior with useful features such as Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity and USB ports. We have not experienced any problems with the vehicle so far, and Mitsubishi's capped priced servicing has been good, Show details
Great family car! – We haven't had any issues with our outlander. It's roomy and has a big boot. We have 2 large dogs who sit comfortably in the back. Drives well and I love that it has an eco mode. Easy to drive and park. Enough room for the kids in the back so they're not squished in together. Show details
Basically OK but needs improvements – Mitsubishi SUV 4x4 is still far too noisy over 82Db on a coarse bitumen road and suspension like a truck. Still some wind noise from the mirrors, a slight improvement on the MY11. Hardly and cabin storage like the MY11 cut by 40% at least. Seat to hard for long trips. However the 2 that I have owned have been reliable so far. The interior is full… Read more
of chrome that dazzles me when driving, the plastic black piano finish in the dash area is also reflective and attracts dust as it is quite static. Seat base not good for long trips especially if we are slim. Performance is good and handling. 8 litres per 100ks approx. The Safety Pack would not be good on a driver-less car as it is fickle at times, we still need to be ready to brake when it changes it's mind.
Awesome family Car – I really liked this car.i love driving it. It's a seven seater car perfect family car. Driving is smooth. I loved its Air conditioner during hot summer days it was just awesome. It would have been great if it had vents on the back seats as well only drawback i can see. It's good on petrol. Show details
Great family car – We purchased the seven seater and love it. we've had it four years and never had any issues. It runs well and is fuel efficient and the capped servicing for three years is excellent. Only criticism is no air vents in the back or middle make for a fairly unpleasant trip if your in a hot climate and your in the back row. Show details
good family SUV – The Mitsubishi Outlander looks schmick. But driving it reveals a bland SUV with not a trace of character. Okay, so it’s well-equipped and cheap to run, has a five-year warranty and doesn’t drink too much petrol; and for $44,000 you get a lot of features, such as leather-accented seats, powered tailgate, seven seats, and the sort of electronic… Read more
driving aids you’d expect on a German cruiser. It represents good value for money but little else.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is not outlandish. Should it be? Well, the Honda Prelude wasn’t much of a prologue and the Nissan Cedric wasn’t much of an entertainer.
The reality is Mitsubishi will probably never build anything outlandish, now that it has just two cars left in its SUV-dominated range, the Mirage and Lancer – the latter unlikely to be replaced anytime soon. But that’s okay because although this car has no soul, that doesn’t mean you should strike it off your shopping list.
Car buyers looking for a safe, reliable vehicle with low running costs often waltz into a Toyota dealership and pick the shape and size of car they want. It’s why Toyota has a massive 18 per cent market share in Australia.
2016 OUTLANDER 2.4lt Petrol 4wd Wife Loves It – Bought this for the wife to travel back and forth to work as she drives on some dirt roads to get there just needed something with a little more clearance. Legroom is great plenty of space basically all round. Have tried it in 4WD and it seems to work fine. Only thing that takes a bit of getting used to ( and probably not a bad thing) is the auto… Read more
when it changes through gears you don't actually feel it is. The 2.4lt petrol seems gutsy enough wouldn't tow anything too heavy though I think it would struggle a bit. While the wife is happy I am happy. Over all SO FAR it seems to be a nice car. Had it for nearly 12 months now.
Really happy with purchase – Is a nice car to drive. Took a little while to work out how best to drive it (this is my first time driving automatic transmission). For example, for normal driving one tends to have it in economy mode. In this mode it does feel a little sluggish, but turn off economy and boy does this thing fly. Overtaking up a hill is no problem for this car.… Read more
Really glad I got the 2.4L model.
Coming from a Honda CRV, the outlander feels bigger, which is not surprising given it physically is a larger car (still in the process of recalibrating my spacial awareness when driving it). Handling wise it doesn't feel any bigger.
As a tall person, who likes to sit quite upright when driving, I really appreciate the high roof. Gives me plenty of headspace, unlike some of the Hyundai's I tried out.
Turbo Diesel Outlander built on a Sunday! – We purchased two of these deisel Outlanders, 14 models, brand new. One car has been fine but mine has been a dud. Drama' so far on this uhummm car. 1. Aircon evaporator failed- 6 weeks to repair mid summer as Mitsubishi did not have the part in Australia. 2. Tyres chopping out..Alignments aplenty. 3. Loud clunking sound in motor like you… Read more
would find in a beat up EH Holden with a loose tappit.... Warranty repair 2 weeks unable to locate issue.
4. Transmission failed..God knows what's wrong with it but it's back to warranty service.
5. Squeaks and noise from the fabulous plastic interior are sensational.
6. Road noise is nuts..Dubbed my car the conversation breaker.
Buy another one..Hell no. Can't wait to be rid of the devil's car.

Nice package with dynamic shield...impressive so far. Let's see if it's better than the crapppy Hold – If you have read my previous review on the Holden Cruze, this will be an on going review on the performance of the outlander. I have in the past had a NM Pajero which was a beautiful car which has lead me to this purchase after having a terrible experience with Holden, now to the outlander. for a faulty power window button which was fix in the first 1500k service. Heaps of room for a fam of 5 (3 teenages) have the 2.4l 4wd model in economy mode the engines a little gutless which is good for city traffic and saving fuel. This thing has the same economy of a 1.8l Cruze in economy mode. However when you shift into sports mode and engage 4wd it's like giving granddad a bottle of viagra...boy does this thing power up and is great for surprising small sports car drivers whom think that the 2.4 does not have any power. The car is quiet, very quiet even when powering up. Good interior and viewing perspective as you do sit high up like in any mid size Suv. The technology in the mid range model could include sat Nav but has Rv camera, Bluetooth streaming abs, Tcs, cruise control and climate control. The instrument panel on the dash is a little bit lacking with no temp gauge and no on going ambient outside temp which is available through cycled options...space..space...space this thing has compartments where you would not think it would have compartments. I feel like Han Solo smuggling Luke sykywalker in the melinium falcon. The cup holders are a little far away and cumbersome...so far so good. I'll keep you up to date with any major problems but anything is better than a daewoo..err...Holden Cruze….Update on the outlander…the CVT failered at 94k and Mitsubshi initlly refused to honour the warrant repairs…after 6 months on arguing they capitulated….this has left a very sour taste in my mounth to the point I am in the process of selling the other Mitsubshis we have in the family and will never own again
ZK LS AWD Outlander: So far I am impressed – I often think car reviewers are a bit like the 'princess and the pea' fable. For me, the car has so far been great, the bluetooth was simple to pair (despite what professional reviews have said), the economy is excellent (as low as 6.9 on a country trip, around 8-9 in the city). Everything seems to work as it should and it can climb into and out… Read more
of my farm. If I had to whine about anything it could be the panels seem thin but that could be the norm for modern cars (I buy a new one every 15 or so years). Compared to the competition I am pleased with both the vehicle and the dealership: Brisbane City Automotive. Blake the salesman was great + no pressure and lies like other dealerships). I hope to give a long term review of the car and see if the relationship with Mitsubishi blossoms or withers on the vine.
Update 1\3\16 Best fuel consumption so far: 6.2l\100km coming down the range with light load. City driving starts out at 14 l but, as the city driving continues averages down to about 9.something...combined city\country averages 8.something so not bad for a big (ish) AWD. Will update it as things happen and after the first service.
Update 17\9\16 Still going great, no hassles at all, no issues, no problems. First service completed, no issues found. Climbs out of my bush block without issue in 'high' 4wd (that's the eco 4wd setting, haven't had to use 'lock' mode yet. The remote doesn't work from long distances but not really an issue. All round a great car for the $ so far.
Update 1\2\17 Still impressed with how much car I got for the dollars. It still has not missed a beat. It doesn't do any serious off-roading but it does regularly haul trailer loads up the range and down a steep dirt track that would stop a 2wd in the wet. IT only has a 4 cyl petrol engine but it hasn't lagged at all towing a loaded trailer. I have had it back for one factory recall (they reprogrammed the CVT with new code)...will get them to check it at next service because I'm feeling a slight lag on take off...might just be me though!. One design fault I've found is the display for the reversing camera can suffer from glare..needs an anti-glare finish on it. But, all in all, I am really happy with the car still.
Love my car!!!! – This is my second outlander, a 2015 LS ZK 4 WD Auto and this one as good as the first 2012 model which we sold to our son(we would have still had the old one but he needed a good car) They are such great value, great ride and handling, terrific features, excellent fuel economy, and what about the look!!!!!! The outlander is just on great car, thanks Craig Loffler from von Bibra Southport for a terrific deal and customer service
Battery drain a pain – Great car apart from the constant pain with the battery. Brand new 2015 outlander and already 2 new batteries and 7 RACQ call outs to jumpstart the car. ECU problem fixed apparently by Mitsubishi; but still a 1/2 amp drain constant. No interior lights left on or anything apparently on. Frustrating to say the least. Guess its another drop in to the Mitsubishi service centre Show details
An update on my outlander in the outback – Vehicle has now done 20,000 ks. Have to say the car is passable but has lots off build problems and road noise which Mitsubishi don't want to know about it. myself which helped a bit but it should have been there in the first place. Usually keep my cars for 5 years or more this but I doubt if I'll keep this one 12 months. The sales person wants me to update to the latest version, he has now been reprogrammed into saying the latest version is the best outlander ever made, my reply was it's also the ugliest one ever made. Thanks but no thanks. Overall, the car has its good points diesel economy is good, air con can cope with hot conditions out west. Not so good is the lack of suspension control and the above-mentioned road / tyre noise. Mitsubishi Australia could listen to the customers a bit more and in turn Mitsubishi japan could take on board improving the vehicles for Australian conditions.
Outstanding Car – I have just traded my 2008 V6 Outlander on a new diesel Outlander.I hope the new car is as good as the old Outlander. I would recommend a Outlander diesel over similar price diesel SUV as it has more cargo space and a pleasure to drive.
Lousy gearbox on my 2014 2.2 turbo-diesel LS – I find that the gearbox lag when taking off after slowing down for - say entering a roundabout is really bad to the point of being dangerous. I have only done about 7000klm. Good on the highway but hate the gearbox in town. This is my second Outlander, I had a 2006 2.4 sports auto before. Sometimes I wish I had not changed cars. Good so far – Bought an LS 14.5 7 seater in the 2.4 petrol a couple weeks ago now. All has been well so far with no real complaints besides being stuffed around a little with the dealer before delivery. But besides that the car itself is roomy and drives well. Highly recommend Show details
Outback in the outlander – have had my diesel ls for 2 months now. every thing going well excellent economy. have given up on the voice bit it cant hear me because of all the cabin noise which i find very tiring. the 18 low profile tyres dont help and are not suited to gravel roads the 16 wheels should be an option. i intend to purchase a set before my next country… Read more
run.should have about 20mill more ride height to have the same clearance as my last vehicle. under steer is a problem and could be dangerous on wet roads ill see if that improves on the new wheels and tyres. (215x75x16) hi beam is not good for country travel not much difference between low and hibeam have had driving lights fitted to the nudge bar big improvement but a pain to fit auto elec said first and last one he will do. switch for said lights does not fit blank in dash mitsubishi switches are smaller than others the search is on for one that does fit. wont even bother to price one from mitsubishi . their options and accessory's are grossly over inflated (pays to shop around)as is the capped price servicing for outlander diesels. all in all a good vehicle can handle long distance with ease would be more relaxing to drive if it wasent so noisy. the looks grow on you after awhile but there is room for improvement all round. air con did a good job in recent 40 degree heat out west.
Great vehicle – I,ve bought the vehicle a 14.5 LS Diesel auto Outlander in March 2014 have travelled about 11000 Km mainly country highway and some town it is the best vehicle I have ever bought. First time sand/beach driving – Our outlander is 12/2012 MY13 LS 7 seats 4WD 2.4L petrol. Me, missus and 3 kids under 5 went camping to Rainbow & Teewah beach, QLD, just before Christmas. 3rd row and boot was fully loaded (lower ground clearance). We had normal road tyres, 16" rim, deflated to 20psi. The outlander drove effortlessly on the "shallow" soft sand. Also, it was low… Read more
tide and we drove mostly on the harder wet sand, closer to the water.
After we unloaded the gears, the next day we tested the outlander on the sandy inland track. It took 45minutes to drive 16km on 20km/h speed limit. But, no problem with the outlander.
On our last day, we fully loaded the outlander again and head back. Unfortunately, it was 1 hour past high tide. There was not enough space on the wet sand for 2 driving lanes. So, we had to drive on the "deep" soft sand, further up from the water.
On the deeper ruts, the bottom of the outlander hit the top of the sand and we got bogged, twice. Luckily the first time we got bogged, there were 3 OZ blokes with long handle shovels, helped us out in 15 minutes. The second time, another OZ bloke pulled up, and showed us how to use Max Trax properly, minimum shovelling, out in 3 minutes. The only thing though, I reversed 10m after the 1st bog and damaged 2x plastic bash covers under the car. I managed to put the clips back on the covers at home, but will be very careful not to reverse on deep sand in future.
When I drove home, the steering wheel was shuddering at 100km/h. I suspected this was from the sand that got collected on the wheel rim. I hosed all the sand off at home, but haven't re-tested the outlander on the highway yet.
Fuel economy wise, I could get 7.8L/100km reading if I drive very very gently, and the road mostly goes downhill. But normally I got 9 - 10L urban driving, 8L highway driving. My wife would normally get 12 - 13L urban driving. When I checked fuel purchased vs distance travelled, I got 10 - 11L.
When driving on sand, 4WD LOCK, I got 30 - 40L. One thing I found strange was when I turned on the car in the garage, 4WD AUTO, the fuel economy reading reset at 50L/100km. When I turned on the car in the campsite, 4WD LOCK, the fuel economy reading reset at 100L/100km. Not sure if this is normal for outlander.
So it was quite an adventure, for first time driving on sand, thanks to the outlander. Functional as 7 seater car as well as 4WD car. Fits 1 baby + 2 booster seats on 3rd row. Factory tint on 2nd and 3rd row is good enough for our kids, they don't need additional tiniting. Reversing camera. ESC, ABS, and all other electronics. Full size spare. A pair of Max Trax fit perfectly as a "dam" at the end of the boot space, they stopped gears from falling off, when the boot door was opened and the car was parked at a slope, and the Max Trax were still able to be slided out easily if required for emergency recovery. No rear vent air con for 2nd and 3rd row, the front air cons are so strong that 1st row passengers sometimes need to wear jackets to cool down rear passengers on a hot day. Engine is rather gutless, should have bought the diesel version with better torque around 1500 rpm and better fuel economy. Fuel economy reading resets itself, doesn't give stable reading until 10-15 minutes. Car salesman told features on the car that don't exist.
So far so good – We bought the new Mitsubishi 2013 LS Outlander Diesel a month ago, It is our 3rd Mitsubishi, our previous ones being the popular Sigma which we had for 23 yrs, and the lovely 1999 baby Pajero iO which we reluctantly traded in due to the small 52lt fuel tank, and for more storage & passenger space and longer range between fill ups. are very happy with the LS Diesel Outlander. It gives a very smooth ride and does not lean on cornering as much as the small Pajero did. We have noticed when driving in slower speed limits around town or at road works there can be a vibration through the car which is not there when driving at higher speeds. Giving the feel of being between gears. After doing 626km of city driving and day trips into the country and, using the online fuel/kilometres converter, the car did 6.6litres per 100km. At that point there was still 20 litres left in the 60 litre tank. Got to be happy with that. We now have 950km on the clock towards our 1500km first free service. The reversing camera is great. I doubt we will use the 3rd row of seats. It is a shame the diesel option does not come without that 3rd row. We have not tested out the airconditioning yet as the weather has not been warm enough to need it. We bought the car in the End of Financial Year Run Out Sale and were happy with the eventual negotiated price and the price we got for our trade in. I negotiated some extras to close the deal, and got mud flaps, headlight protectors, bonnet protector and side weathershields for no extra cost. We also got a portable Sat. Nav. as it was part of the deal for every car sold at that time.
Only time will tell how this car performs over the longer period. Compared with other diesel 4WD SUVs
the price is favourable. Hopefully it will turn out to be as reliable as our two previous Mitsubishi cars. We had driven older model Outlanders in previous years when we hired cars in West Australia. While they were really good to drive I found the low passenger seat did not suit my back problem. This new 2013 version has higher seating than previous versions and is comfortable for my back - so far. Competitive price, Appearance. Smooth Ride. Fuel economy.
LS Outlander Diesel Auto – Very pleased with the choice of the diesel Outlander. We bought it in early June, so it is early days yet. fuel economy, the great performance from the diesel, the space, the reversing camera - overall a great car. There were a couple of warranty issues needed fixing (auto air con system not working, engine warning light coming on, rattle in dash) and these were fixed first time, BUT no paper-work was supplied to say what was done - is this usual with warranty work? Interior is a bit bland, and the exterior is pretty ordinary. But, we bought it for its performance, fuel economy and towing capability - we will be using it to tow our camper trailer and eventually a small caravan. We will never use the third row of seats - they will remain folded down (wish we could have bought a 5-seater version, but it is not available in the diesel). price, fuel economy, diesel performance bad buying experience leaves a bad taste in mouth
