I have had Modern Plantation Shutters installed in my whole house for 9 years. The product itself has performed well, but the customer service is appalling. forward to recently, and the small pins that hold the shutters in place started to fail and shutter blades fell down inside the back of the doors. I contacted Modern just to get more of these pins, and even after all these years their customer service was even worse. This extremely small issue went on and on for weeks with Modern obfuscating on an industrial level! Ultimately, the switchboard operator had to take the initiative to just send me a sample pin, and I went elsewhere so I wouldn’t have to deal with them further. Just these two examples of my experience with Modern identifies a firm who may have a great product, but their interaction and service falls far, far short of their product. My son went elsewhere to get his house done. Moderns customer service is just appalling from my experience.

were installed. One of the shutters came in the wrong dimension (despite the installer having come out to make the measurements and submitted it). Fortunately, the installer was experienced enough to re-cut and re-attach everything on the spot to the correct dimensions for installation. Kudos to the installed team. Perhaps some internal co-ordination needs to be improved. Overall satisfied with the installation and the product.

We had a roller shutter installed for protection during storm season and from the westerly setting sun, to keep the house cooler. The sales guy was running late by 20-25 mins. This was after the appointment was changed by the office to an early time. He did not ring to say that he was running late, nor did he apologize for the late arrival. The installer does great work and asks all the good questions. Quick service . When gaining information for my first order, the sales rep provided a extensive informative overview of their products. She gave us several options , measured and quoted in 30 minutes. The shutters were measured and delivered and installed as described by rep. Cr#p service. The installer broke something and didn’t even say anything just left it broken on the bench. Then the blinds were scratched. The second one wasn’t until it was installed. photos though which I did. Then heard nothing. Emailed to ask if they received it they said yes but still didn’t hear anything. Then emailed them again weeks later to tell them I was very unhappy and still nothing. The guy that quoted also told a nonsense sorry about giving them to us cheaper if we agreed to put their sign up out the front and called the boss to ok it. Haven’t heard anything about a sign being putting up because it was all nonsense. Ps check Reddit before you buy from this company. Just like I should have.

Only one year warranty on their roller shutters so they don't believe in their products too well. Motor on shutters stopped working after a year. They want to charge a $150 for a call out fee then $50 to just look at each additional window which I have 5. Before they even offer to give a quote to fix it! Poor quality. brought down to around $6000. When I read reviews later, this is a common tactic she uses! I had to sign then and there and pay a $400 non refundable deposit to secure the price. She could see I was uncomfortable but kept pushing. I regrettably signed and paid the non refundable deposit. After she left my house i felt very uncomfortable. I looked up her phone number, it is associated with a whole company which was odd. I found a different local company who gave me a quote of less than $4000 for an additional 2 blinds, so 6 in total. I contacted modern to pull out of the contract and suddenly they were able to almost match the price of the other company. The sales tactics were disgusting. Ultimately, I decided to forfeight the deposit as I felt incredibly uncomfortable with this companies sales tactics. Never trust modern for your blinds! Absolutely deplorable tactics were used. I have waited to write this review to ensure the blinds i purchased from the other company were of good quality and they are!

Very happy with my new Plantation Shutters. This is the second home that I have had them installed. The quality of their product is second to none otherwise I wouldn't have had them installed again.
