Mortels Sheepskin Factory

Purchased a pair of Criss cross slip-ons. Later in the evening I noticed a small tag. MADE IN CHINA. I try at all times to support local/Australian made. I understand Mortels is Australian owned but they need to be up-front about which of their products are Chinese Made. I would not have purchased these slip-ons but a pair of slippers made in Australia. BUYER Beware.

A shadow of their former selves – I have been wearing Mortels Ugg boots for as long as I can remember and it is my opinion that they are not making these boots to the same standard of years gone by. In fact I still have a pair of ugg boots that are in excess of 20 years old but have been through 2 other pairs in that time. Treated me like dirt – This was second pair bought online. I can only wear the boot when I am resting and use them to comfort legs which were crushed in an accident. May as well buy cheap imports – No idea what the soles are made of, but after about a year they both just disintegrated. Not split or cracked. Literally broke into tiny pieces as cheap unstable plastic does. Buying local does not necessarily buying quality.

Not buying again – These were my first pair of expensive slippers that I treated myself to after years of cheapies. Thought I would get a few winters out of them at least. Not the case. have this issue. They were very comfy up until that point. I sewed it back together but shortly after the soles came away from the base. They were only worn inside, I'm not one for traipsing around the shops in my slippers! Not recommended. Maybe I just got a dodgy slipper.... if you do buy this brand feel for a join near the toe first!

On my second pair and love them – I love my mortel uggs. Had a pair for about 4 years and wore them every day. Finally replaced them and love my new pair just as much.

Happy to sell you faulty products, not happy to repair, definitely won't replace – My husband and I purchased a pair of sheepskin boots each on the 04th of June. So away we go on holidays, with our purchases. One month to the day of purchase, the sole on one of my husband's boots just came away at the front of the boot.

We return from holidays, & I returned the boots on the 13th of July. Apparently they can be reglued. Ok. So we wait. It was a 10 minute job. 1/2 later the boots are bought back out, they had been reglued, however the employee of Mortels pointed out during this process the machine snapped the zipper. So he attached a large mortel key tag thing to it. I said that would not do, as the boots were just over 4 weeks old. He was adamant there was nothing else he could do. I asked him who do I need to speak with, as it's clearly not him. He stormed off to get his manager.

I then had to wait even longer.

I believe I saw the manager speaking about the issue in the workshop area. I however have still not seen a manager.

I then had a sales person return my husband's boot, tell they will order a replacement zipper part which could take weeks. She took down my details, whilst doing this she made slide comments about how the boots were really well worn for only being just over a month old.

I replied with, we bought them to wear them, and again advised of the date of purchase.

She ignored this, and told me they would attach my details to the board, and ring me, yeah whenever.

How awesome is that....not!!!

So in short, I feel the quality Mortels was previously known for, has fallen to the wayside, along with their customer service.

I think if you pay more than $100 for a pair of shoes, you should be confident they will last for longer than a month. What amazes me more is, the Mortels staff commented on the wear of their one month old product. Wouldn't that suggest a quality issue right there, never mind the fact the boots were falling apart.

But apparently that's my issue, and I have put them out.

I guess I now wait and see if I will ever get a call to advise me the new zipper is in.

and they actually give about their product and their customers. not like the other guys i had bought off online or in the city (who i later found out were faux sheepskin and Chinese made and spent $200 for)

New seat covers – Wow a great local company to have dealt with. we tried the local car after market seat cover company with no success as there products were expensive and not pure wool we then went to Mortals of Thornton very professional service lovely people to deal with top quality product they even fitted them. .Would recommend these guys to everyone. Ugg Boots – Just received new uggs. Was surprised to find they have inserts in them. That was not mentioned on website when purchasing. The wool doesnt seem the same as the rest of the boot. Have never owned uggs that have inserts before. Not sure on the durability as them are still new. Good price. People on the phone at the store were helpful. No mention of insoles

I rang them up, spoke to the owner, then took a trip to Newy a few days later.

I only picked up the covers today, so time will tell on the product(but they do look and feel fantastic), but I can not fault the customer service. From the time I walked in, till after they personally fitted them for me, I was impressed, so much so, that I then went in a purchased a pair of 100% Aussie Uggs !

You know it's Aussie made when you can see the workshop in the back.
