National Storage

Unfortunately due to the phone call I just had with a young lad I will not be continuing with our unit rental. No problem until receiving an email increasing the price and stating in keeping with current market prices, to which research shows otherwise. Unfortunately the response was it is what it is. There are other options out there and even though not desired we will remove our property to something more reasonably priced. Cheers
Significant pricing disparity between existing customers and advertised rates. I am paying nearly double for the same unit and told I had to cancel and re‑sign to fix it. Poor transparency and not customer‑focused. Moving elsewhere.
DO NOT USE NATIONAL STORAGE Unanderra Unit - Since July 2024, our monthly storage cost has increased from approximately $280 to $507 — a near 70% increase in under two years. During this period, there have been no upgrades, improvements, additional services, or meaningful changes to the facility, security, access, or overall offering that could… Read more
reasonably justify increases of this scale.
These increases appear wildly disproportionate to inflation or ordinary operating cost adjustments and give the impression that long-term customers are being exploited due to the inconvenience and expense involved in relocating stored belongings elsewhere.
A near 70% increase over this period raises serious concerns regarding the fairness and reasonableness of these charges, particularly where there has been no corresponding improvement in service or facility offering. I am currently reviewing my position under Australian Consumer Law, including provisions relating to unfair contract terms and unfair business practices.
It is also impossible to speak to anyone apart from the person who answers the phone, who is useless and cannot rsolve anything or answer any questions, or escalate my enquiry to anyone. They just keep insisting on a 'feedback form'.
Further, I note that equivalent storage units of the same size are currently being advertised by National Storage for substantially less than the amount currently being charged to existing customers.
Grifters and price-gougers.

National Storage get my approval Desmond Last – I kept my belongings there for 5 years. No problems at all. Safe, secure and dry.
Shockingly bad customer service – I am a removalist, I was hired by a customer to take furniture to National Storage at 2 Bowen Road, Moonah TAS 7009. There was only one staff member, He was unfriendly, uncaring, unhelpful. He was in the office and refused to use the forklift to load the items on the 1st floor loading bay. He tried to spin two silly different stories as to why… Read more
he couldn't not comply with the stated terms advertised on the premises. We ended up having to drag a fridge and other heavy, bulky items up the stairs, incurring the customer extra cost. This mob are overpriced, seemingly understaffed, not meeting their commitments to their customers but most of all, uncaring and arrogant. The only storage business I have dealt with that has treated it's customer so badly. Will never deal with this pathetic lot again and suggest to anyone considering storage, to go elsewhere.
No Refund given for automatic prepayment – You are forced to pay by direct debit from your bank account. I provided the required notice of 7 days and as I was vacating the storage unit on the 4th of the following month I requested them to change my direct debit and only charge me for 4 days rather than the whole month. No way they charged in advance for the whole month and will not refund… Read more
for any overpayment they took from my bank account. Don’t use this company they are terrible to deal with. They do not respond to emails and don’t care about bad customer service. They take money they are not due and won’t refund legitimate overpayments. They then give our overpayments to sponsor the Broncos. What a rip off they are.
Please do not use – I rented a unit via their online system and needed the rental to start a month from the day I was online. I realise at the end of the process there was no way to change the start date of my storage unit rental. I called with 10 minutes of making the booking to be told the wrong information by a staff member. Two months later and I have been told… Read more
for a second time that the due to the terms and conditions once you pay for a month there is no way to change the start date of your rental, even though I attempted to rectify this 10 minutes from making the booking. National storage has now taken my $340 and I have nothing to show for it. In these very hard times this company are basically thieves and I would never recommend anyone to use them. Please do not use them.
National Storage 34 Thornborough Road Greenfields – National storage Greenfields Very dissapointed with the way National Storage handle our situation with regards cancellation of storage unit. Paid $503 needed to cancel 7 days after due to circumstances out of our control. Could not move our stuff in due to lease being renewed. We where told a part refund would be given and then told no refund… Read more
would be given. National storage has lied with information. Falsely given us false information. We did not move anything in to the storage unit and went and explained our situation. We where happy for the partial refund of $309 WHICH WAS TOLD TO US AND IT WOULD HIT OUR ACCOUNT IN 3 DAYS. This hasn't happened and now been told no refund and they where sorry they gave us wrong information. $503 IS alot when your on a disability pension and frankly the service of staff where rude and frankly I wouldn't go back and I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone. The service is absolutely disgusting. $503has been stolen as far as I'm concerned. I hope no one else has to deal with this company. Dont fall in the same trap we did. Disgusting and Kim and Sandy we are absolutely disgusted with your customer service. How long is a piece of string Sandy is not a answer to be given to a customer who was told a refund would be in our account in 3 days. Hopefully National storage would understand covid times people can not afford to hand over money for nothing. I warn all new customers think twice before using Greenfields National Storage they do not refund. They are criminals. Pensioners are on tight budgets and I hope the owners of Greenfields National storage seek new staff as Kim should have known prior as a manager and Sandy your customer service needs a real big attitude towards your customers. We are not going to put up with this outcome and frankly anyone else who was in our situation would not sit here and take this robbery.

size of the increase, all telling me that their fees only ever went up by perhaps $10-$20 at a time. Storage Kings came up fantastic. Same size unit, less than I was originally paying at National Storage with a 2 month discount promo as well!! In the end I was stuck with National as couldn't afford the move. But National Storage...The people who make decisions of price increases are very hard to get hold of. I had to go through a feedback form, which went to customer solutions. They were almost rude & very dismissive, they would not budge on cost increase at all. They seemed happy to let us go to another company. From the other reviews, seems others have had similar experiences.
Follow-up · Nothing changed. They offered NO reduction in the price. They never offered any explanation for the huge increase. We had to just pay up. Then they closed the facility for rebuilding, so we ended up having to move anyway. We went to Kennards. Marvellous. Much lower than even the original price, wonderful staff, clean easy to access, really nice facility.

Follow-up · Yes the premises has locked gates and you needed a key to enter. It was early evening so there was lighting. Security cameras were operating but where our machine got stolen from was just out of view. We know the people that stole the machine as they were the only other people there and spoke to my husband about the washing machine. We informed the office but because out of sight of camera they would not to anything

I used National Storage Helensvale, Chris gave excellent customer service and went above and beyond (thanks for your help with my piano). I also benefited from the 50% discount, so no complaints from me...GC
Avoid this place at all costs. I originally took a unit at the Sandringham facility when it was independently owned — no issues at all. Once it was sold to National, everything changed for the worse. Rent increases started arriving with only seven days’ notice, then a completely unjustified monthly “Administration Charge” is slipped in. The rent… Read more
rose far faster than inflation, yet identical‑sized units were routinely advertised on their own website for much less than I was being charged, clearly aimed at drawing in the next round of unsuspecting customers.
When I finally decided to move out, the fun continued. Despite signs all over the facility stating that only seven days’ notice is required, I was told this only applies if your move‑out date happens to fall exactly on the anniversary of your move‑in date. If you run even a single day past your billing cycle — even with the seven days’ notice — they demand a full extra month of rent, claiming they “can’t issue partial invoices”. Nonsense. They simply won’t.
As a listed company, their priority is clearly squeezing every last dollar out of customers for the benefit of shareholders. In my view, Consumer Affairs should take a very close look at the legitimacy of these practices.
Terrible experience. National Storage Windsor required ID scanning and facial imaging, which felt excessive for a storage facility. They then insisted on using a formal legal name I don’t use, and refused to update it—even after I provided a statutory declaration. Completely inflexible and disrespectful. I moved out after 10 days. Management… Read more
was unreachable, staff didn’t care, and they refused to refund 20 days of unused fees. They continued to refuse to use the name I’m known by.
On top of that, the storage is expensive, parking is inadequate for bumping in and out and the units are old and tired and poorly maintained.
Would not recommend.
Damien at Virginia Nation Storage has been brilliant. My motorcycle transport company was a little less than elegant in collection my bike. They cut the padlock off with bolt cutters and Damien was none the wiser and called me right away. Turns out all was well but there was a bit of a heart stop. Thank you Damien.
THIEVES AND DISGUSTING TO DEAL WITH..... this mob have not customer service whatsoever, no common sense and just want money money and money.. what they say anc charge u are different..... choose someone else , hope ya MONGRELS go broke,
Pioneer Rd, YANDINA, QLD: A-1 service from Dale and Team. Dale was helpful, reasonable, friendly, and service like his is very rare these days. It was only the recent price hike from the head office which made me end the lease. Thank you Dale for reminding me that excellent service still sometimes exists.
After visiting many storage companies on a very short time frame we were fortunate to come across Damien (Damo) at National Storage Virginia. estimate of exactly how much and how many possessions we had to store. But rest assured he nailed it perfectly and even better at an extremely competitive price. In a nutshell this is the type of service and expertise you hope (and should) receive wherever you spend your hard earned money but unfortunately that's not necessary the case in this day and age but in this instance of storage expertise, Damo was a godsend and definitely the man you want to connect with for the best of the best storage advice, service and the nicest guy in town. Many thanks Damo - Geoff, Tracey and kiddies.
I highly recommend National Storage. I used this company twice for short term storage at Yandina and Kawana on the Sunshine Coast and have only praise for the customer service I received from both centres.
My storage unit got broken into twice within one week. After the first incident I requested to move my units content to an equal one to protect my property - I WAS DENIED. payment. Even though I called before the break-ins explaining my sister had Brain cancer and her husband called me to come and see her before it was too late so I would be late paying.
The worst thing is they will give no information about the breaking. I have been denied the ability to see the video footage, I was accused of “planning this and told someone” not once but twice.
They also increase their pricing way above the CPI standard.
Go elsewhere, protect yourself.

I rented a ground-floor unit at a reasonable rate, then the price increased by over 58% (monthly) in just 14 months, from $203 per month to $322 per month. This rapid and steep price hike is completely unjustifiable, especially considering there have been no significant improvements to the facility or services. What’s even more frustrating is if… Read more
I were to move into a vacant unit within the same complex today, the price would be significantly lower at $245 per month for the unit.
A price increase every 6 months is gross. Never again.
Failed to check reviews about their regular greedy price increases before signing up. Strongly recommend using other storage companies that do not price gouge. After the first 6 months, they increased my main storage unit by 14% and my wine locker by 29%. Nine months later, another 14% and 22% increase. Nine months after that, another 14% and… Read more

I rented a small unit at Alderley on Friday 16/1/2026, whilst there found out that the young male receptionist had double booked the unit so was given a different one, he was going to send me an email with access codes etc but that didn't happen but saw that they opened on Monday at 8.00am so thought that would be fine, this lovely guy came and… Read more
packed up my boxes and got to Farrington Street, ALDERLEY expecting it to be open, nup, rang the main number of course to go through a number of menus and waiting. Until I could finally speak to a person. At this stage another customer was driving in so I tailgated. Drove with the gear to the unit. Finally at 8.40am the chap got his computer up and running so I could get the access code for the van to exit the building. Extremely bad service and I as a 73 y.o. woman with a smashed right wrist helped pack the shed so the guy could go to another job. NOT IMPRESSED
Staff freindly, and good facilities. But go in aware and do not use unless you are absaloutley sure that you are going to use at least most of your last month in a storage locker. that. When I asked to be put through the 'the special team' they said it's via online form only. That's all I needed to go elsewhere and am so glad I did as I'll be storing for 1-2 years and hate to think the price it would have ended up!!! NATIONAL STORAGE, PEOPLE READ REVIEWS!!!
I rent a unit at Coolum Beach. In June last year (2024) the rate was $29 per month. The new rate, announced last week, is $43 per month, an increase of over 48%. Avoid this company, there are better alternatives elsewhere.
Follow-up · I found an alternative (Kennards) with the same level of security, albeit a bit further from home, at $26 per month. National Storage increase their prices because they are greedy, and because they can, without providing any additional services to justify the increase.
We entered into a contract with the Newmarket qld facility for $520 a month in Aug-25. In Nov-25 they increased it to $620 per month with no prior notice. options. We do note the facility is clean and well maintained, but this price increase is unreasonable. We recommend not to contract with national storage.
Facing the nightmare of packing up and moving again, I decided to pack my possessions myself. After a web search I chose National Storage for purchase of the necessary boxes, and chose one of the Moving Pack options. Delivery was extremely prompt and efficient, and the pack is exactly what I need. Now I just have to do the packing bit - assisted by copious amounts of coffee.
