PACIFIC FAIR WILL NOT FIX PROBLEMS – I believe they have gone out of business how do we get our problems fixed? I have purchased apple products for 15 years my trust is completely broken

Rude, and untrained in dealing with problems – Although I have never had a problem before in this store, today I was treated very rudely by the store manager at Cairns Central, and one of the staff just went to bits and carried on like a baby when she could not cope with an issue that was quite simple to handle. Last week I bought back a My Passport back-up that had ceased to work, and was… Read more

told they would replace it as it was still under warranty, and it would be a couple of days, they would call me. 8 days went by, and I had to go back in to find out what was going on. The same girl then explained they couldn't get any, and wouldn't be getting any as they were shutting down. They would instead give me a refund to purchase elsewhere, which was done. I left the store with the old passport to destroy, as I didn't want all my info to be accessed by anyone. 30 mins later I get a call from the girl to say I have to bring it back, they need to send it away. I voiced my concerns about my data being accessed somehow, and could they give me written confirmation that it will be destroyed. She said no, and then started sooking up on the phone, went away for a few minutes then came back again and said I HAD to bring it back. I didn't want her getting into trouble so I took it back, the manager came out then to tell me very rudely that I was getting no written letter from anyone, as they cannot guarantee me anything, and when I asked him to go easy on the staff member, he had the audacity to say "Well, she is out there crying right now because you "went at her" on the phone. If I had ever spoken to anyone like that at my current job, I would have been sacked. Neither of them could deal with a very simple issue without going completely overboard and getting all emotional. It was disgusting, and I was very upset at the accusations, as I am 61, very calm, and had my granddaughter with me. I will NEVER EVER use one of these stores again, no matter what city I go to.

No wonder they are closing down.

Dishonest, rude and pushy – In Pacific Fair, Gold Coast, I was simply showing my grandmother some of the different iPad options that could be considered, and even though I said no when asked if I needed assistance, the sales rep really took over and started trying to push all the most expensive and unnecessary options on my grandmother who of course didn't know any better,… Read more

and ended up rushing her into getting an overly expensive ipad cover without even opening it and showing her its features (simply told her it was the last one in stock [later discovered to be an outright lie] and that she was getting a good discount).

After realising overnight that the cover (Bookbook) didn't allow easy camera access or auto lock the ipad (neither of which we were shown on the first day), we took it back the next day, where a different sales rep greeted us very rudely and told us that he would refuse to refund us because he'd seen us "take almost two hours with the rep yesterday" (in reality, it was maybe half an hour; we went away to get lunch for a couple of hours in between), and that if we'd simply bought the case impulsively without really looking at it carefully and not spent so long with them, then he would have refunded us.

So essentially we were being punished for trying to consider a somewhat important decision carefully while the assistants wouldn't leave us to our own thoughts.

So long story short: pushy/dishonest salesman who cared more about selling product than helping the customer's specific needs, and rude follow-up salesman who refused to refund us based solely on his annoyance at us having spent time in the store the previous day as opposed to rushing into buying an important device that costs hundreds of dollars.

Happy – My apple 5C had the battery problem of shuting down without notice. I took it into the Glenunga store and the boys there got it fixed for me. I waited a couple of weeks before writing this review to make sure that the problem was solved and I'm very happy. Thanks. Mark S

top service all round – wow - after reading through these reviews I find it hard to say that I got top quality service within a day after mucking around with the Apple store in Robina for two days. I use my Mac pro for business so it was imperative that when it decided to simply turn off and not load - that I got it fixed immediately. Having spoken on the phone to apple… Read more

help care for 2 hours I was no closer - talking to the Robina apple Store I was looking at a week minimum before they could even assess it. I took a gamble going to next byte in Pacific Fair, Broadbeach - I approached them in a very direct yet calm manner, discussed my dilemma regarding work and knowingly as I was out of warranty period, agreed to the $75 dollar diagnostic fee and then to go from there. An hour later I received a call entailing the problem - faulty hard drive, cost of repair and time frame - they then succeeded in getting it done by that evening. YEs it probably costed more than an Apple Store - but I have to admit it was frustrating dealing with kids wearing beanies in summer time, who seemed to have more worries about how cool they have become than giving basic customer service .

The problem is that when a company such as apple gets the entire globe "hooked" they do need to offer immediate service as they have created a network in which we rely on - i simply cannot run my day to day business without my computer - so when it shuts down I expect help at bay - not joining a week long queue while grannies are shown how to use an Iphone 6 .

Next Byte - I deal with all walks of life with what I do and I simply cannot fault your service.

PS - this is written by a normal human being who felt compelled to acknowledge this service after been severely let down by Apple itself

Maroochydore Store What a Rip Off!!! – Was charged $75 for a diagnosis for my Macbook Pro. Then was quoted $150 to fix the problem. When they were fixing the laptop a logic board blew. Then was quoted $1700 to fix it. I obviously told them not to worry about it as I could buy a new one cheaper. They advised they could put all my information on an external hard drive for $140. handed over my external hard drive for them to do this. I was called an advised to collect my hard drive and the concierge said all was OK. I refused to pay the $150 to fix the laptop which they actually rendered useless, however was happy to pay the $140 for my information.

You can imagine my surprise.... no hang on FURY when I accessed my external hard drive to find none of the information was transferred. I rang Next Byte and was advised that even if they can't recover the information you are still charged $140. Why was I not told this initially? Why was I sent away after I haemorrhaged more money thinking they had recovered my data when no one advised me that the data could not be recovered? Maroochydore Next Byte are a bunch of unprofessional thieves. I will NEVER recommend anyone to their store and will tell EVERYONE I know how they ripped me off.

Appalling customer service when getting laptop repaired – DO NOT GO TO GLENUNGA, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, STORE - terrible customer service and rude employees. I went to get my 6 year old laptop repaired or at least revived after it had died. I presumed there would be nothing that could be done but the young gentleman that served me insisted that I pay for the diagnosis of the problem and can then see whether or… Read more

not it can be fixed. The fee of $75 for it to be diagnosed isn't much but seeming that I received a call two hours after dropping it off saying it is "a vintage model and therefore they have discontinued parts for it". So not only did he see the model year and type when he first saw the laptops details and booked it in, he insisted that I pay the ridiculous fee of $75 to have it diagnosed, even though he knew it was an old

Model and they don't make parts for it anymore. So basically I was RIPPED OFF. But wait, there's more..... When I went to collect the laptop a rude red headed lady served me. I expressed my disappointment with their service and that it is a joke I still had to pay the price even though they knew perfectly well parts are no longer made for it.. I thought customer service was to help customers not spend money when they don't need to, and that the customer is always right...?? Well that's what I've been taught at work anyway!! So she blatantly said bad luck and then asked if I wanted to buy a new laptop and I said will I get a refund of the $75 and she said no, it wasn't her fault... TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND APPAULING PRICES- I WILL NEVER GO BACK HERE AND I WILL ALWAYS GIVE A BAD REVIRW FOR THE GLENUNGA NEXT BYTE SHOP. I never write reviews but I was just absolutely furious abiut this and how I was treated... I will be ringing the manager first thing tomorrow to complain, and will absolutely never be returning or spending a cent in that shop again. That is all. Thank you.

Next Byte Hobart - rude and poor service – I received pathetic treatment at Next Byte Hobart. I use the word "treatment" as I didn't receive any service. At 11:30am I phoned and spoke with [name removed] regarding the replacement of my iPhone 5 battery [subject to free replacement by Apple - part of a bad batch sold in late 2012]. [name removed] said I could drop it off anytime. I asked… Read more

for an appointment so that it could be done with minimal wait time.

After checking with the technician [name removed] advised that he had little work on and if I bought it in I could expect a quick turn around. Took the phone in at 12:30 and [name removed] told me that I should leave the phone with them for the day! I reminded him of our conversation. He then left the showroom to speak with the tech. Came back and confirmed that it would be ready in an hour.

Go back after one hour. Phone is not ready. I say I will come back in another hour. [name removed] says that phone may not be ready then. I ask how long? [name removed] doesn't know. I ask for phone back. [name removed] then [very slowly] processes the paper work whilst muttering that "nobody would have told you that the battery replacement could be performed in less than an hour". I told [name removed] that he shouldn't call customers liars when in fact that it was he who misled me.

Net result - I drove 12 Kms to get stuffed around and wasted 2 hours of my life. The phone is not fixed. When the time comes to replace my iPhone, iPad and iPhone there is no chance in hell that Next Byte will receive a cent of my money.

The next day I get a call saying my phone is ready. I tell the guy that I live on the local island and it will cost me another $118 to come over, which I have already done twice. I said they needed to take the phone to the ferry terminal and pay to put it on the ferry for me to pick up on the other side. He said he needed to speak to his manager and would call me back. they couldn't provide service to me (they told me they had opened it...) I have never done anything to my phone since I bought it and it looked almost like new. I then discover my phone screen protector was not there anymore, so I questioned them and they said it was never there when I gave it to them (how does such a thing goes missing?), and they also said I had no witness while they had two people (staff) in the shop. Their attitude was very rude. They implied I was lying.

Now they've opened the phone and I couldn't even prove to Apple store or other authorised shops that it was in its original form. Who knows if they have changed my screen or not. I should have listened to my friends not to go there. Luckily I went to Apple store straight after, they replaced my phone with a new one without even asking.

My advice is to never to go there if you want to keep your Apple product warranty and you don't want to be treated badly and waste your time as well.

Terrible service, rude, arrogant and clearly a lack of technical skills.

Careless or Worse – So I took my MacBook to get fixed at Next Byte at Bundall as Apple said they would cover the cost of repairs. I thought it was odd when he said water… Read more

damage. That is just not possible, I told him and I am not sure why he mentioned the dint. Probably trying to use as must leverage against it to look for reasons not to fix it. He also said a cable inside was unplugged. Think they call it the LDVS (which I had to lookup) or something. I said yeah...Apple wanted me to take a photo (which I gave) of where it short circuited so their engineers could remotely assess what went wrong... Oh did they... he said. Engineers said that dust probably got into the mag safe connector (which as I side note I thought was weird, since they didn't even look at the device).

Anyway Apple dismissed my case out because of the report that Next Byte gave. I asked the senior adviser who I was dealing with at Apple for the photos they sent as I wanted another service providers second opinion which I got.

I have got my MacBook back a few days ago from Next Byte and I am disappointed that the 'water damage' as Next Byte refers to was on the bottom plate and it was more like a water mark. No indication that the logic board was touched by water. He also admitted that they did not open it up to check to see for logic board water damage or tripped LSIs.

Someone has placed a glass / bottle on my bottom plate and the condensation has left a mark as such it is faint but on closer inspection is obvious.

After cross referencing further, the pictures Next Byte sent apple were not of my MacBook Pro. I don't even think they were of the same model either. The black plastic is a different shape on the back panel and there is no denying the screw up as the serial number is still very visable on the back panel.

Lets just say I am really annoyed. They lack technical details, use a poor choice of words and talk to you like you know nothing about computers.

I should also mention that Apple said there was a RAM issue... but there is nothing written on the report, nothing communicated from them to me about it when I picked it up.

I should also stress that they did not show me where the water damage was when I asked. He said [with words to the effect of] he would have to undo the screws but flipped my macbook onto its back and gave a vague indication with his hands on the bottom case. When I asked about if the LSIs were tripped. He said he didn't look that far [with words to the effect of) because someone has already 'been in there'.

I told Apple exactly what I replaced and they still put the case through to Next Byte.

I should also mention that they have a 96hr policy if they do not fix it within that time the repairs are free. They called me 96hrs and 5 minutes later to tell me the bad news (as I have the submission report timestamped). Clearly their is no money in it for them.

They were also seemed flustered when I came and were prepared for some conflict. It also took 3 people 5 minutes to find it.

Really disappointing. Either it was carelessness on their part sending the wrong photos or they gave Apple a bogus report on purpose. None of which are acceptable.

Misleading, deceptive, careless, inefficient, poor explanations, no followup

Wacom tablets, accounting software and electric piano keyboards (all suitable for mac). This store probably has the best stock of third party products available for mac that I have seen. The store is very clean and organised, and there have a great range of deals. Occasionally, they offer free items if you buy a laptop. Furthermore, they offer pre-paid mobile internet at good prices as well. However, the number of locations is few and there is not even a store in the ACT. Additionally, when I visited the store, they did not treat me as a potential customer and the questions I asked where answered with vague answers. This is particularly problematic because when you make a big purchase (such a laptop), vague answers do not really get you anywhere.
