Zero Start! Stay away from this travel agency! We went to a Beijing -Chengde-Tianjin 7 days tour, it's entirely a scam! – Zero Star!!! Highly recommend people stay away from this travel agency!!! This is the first time I went through Nexus Holidays to organise my family trip to Beijing, and this for sure would be our last time to go throguh Nexus Holidays!!!! We joined (no shopping) Beijing - Chengde- Tianjin 7 days tour (21/3/19 to 27/3/19). However, we were… Read more

advised on the second day of our trip that the Tianjin schedule has been cancelled, and the reason we were given was because we booked our trip couple of months ago (back in October 2018) and the company has just recently altered the schedule for 2019, all new schedule has removed that one day Tianjin trip, we were totally dispoinnted and unsatisfied how we were informed and with such short notice.

There were some compuslory program fees we paid in advance in Sydney back in October including China House Museum in Tianjin, Gubei BBQ, and the dinner for our second last day 26/3/19, all above didn't get deliver to us because the tour guide/travel agency have shuffled around our schedules, and we DIDN'T get any refund at all !!! We felt Nexus Holidays is being dishonnest and we are sincerely considering to bring this to fair trading!!!

The local tour guide in China is horrible, she always rush us for our usual day schedule, swapping around our schedules to make us feel our day is long and so to encourage us to pay extras in adding extra sight seeing points so that she could get commissions or otherwise, she could finish her day earlier. For this entire trip, I would say the most unpleasent part is to deal with this local tour guide, she even said she knows we will probably visit Beijing once in our life time, so she doesn't cares, even if we are unhappy, unpleasent, there will still be other travellers coming to Beijing regardless (which is quite true, however, I totally disagree how she value the customer service, such a shame).

We have paid for one of the compulsory program fee for Tricycle Hutong Tour in advance in Sydney, but some how the tour guide still asked us to pay extra tips to the driver. To be honestly, it's not just about the money or tips, it was about the principle and experience. We had a very bad experience with Tricycle Hutong Tour at Shichahai, the driver was rushing all the way through without giving us a proper tour !!! (As the tour guide told the driver to rush uo, again, this local tour guide keep pushing and rushing us to finish our regular schedule quickly, so she could either finish her day earlier or encourage us to pay extra to add extra sight seeing points, so she can get commissions).

For the entire trip, the only good time we had was at the Chengde, I appreciate the local tour guide at Chengde, she did a very good job and guiding us through the Royal Summer Resort!

In conclusion, no further business with Nexus Holidays!!! If you were plan to go through Nexus Holiday to travel to China, I would highly recommed you to stay away from them!!!

8 day Nexus tour of China – We did Nexus 8 day highlight tour of China, flights with Qantas. Accommodation was great with full breakfast each day. Photos of hotels attached. Our tour guides George, Jane and Julie were amazing, very knowledgeable and helpful. I hope they continue to do this tour post pandemic as it was well worth the money. China has so much to offer as a holiday destination, a blend of culture and ingenuity. Wonderful ❤️ Show details

11 Day Beautiful China Tour - Never again with Nexus – As a result of the price $899 + $100 compulsory tipping per person, we had a reasonably low expectation of the tour. However, while the actual sightseeing part was amazing and there were some beautiful spots visited, these were rushed so the guide could take us to a supposed cultural experiences. You were forced to listen to a sales pitch… Read more

extolling the virtues of the product; how their product was superior in quality and cheapest in price. This was not the case and they were way more expensive than elsewhere. While I understand the guides get a large kickback for taking their tours there, the high pressure selling and the amount of time spent at each place was overwhelming, and they added more than was in our original itinerary. It really didn't leave a good impression and we felt like we were being treated like cash cows to be milked. When we booked we looked at the type of accommodation they were offering and were pleasantly surprised. However, just prior to our departure we were given a new itinerary with different hotels. I can assure you they were NOT similar to what we were advised we would be getting and I am seriously thinking of complaining to AFTA or Fair Trading. Our hotel in Wuxi the Wuxi Jinjiang Grand Hotel was disgusting, and came complete with bugs, filth, and the smell of sewerage from our bathroom. I did not expect the best, I did expect clean. Another way of gouging money out of their customers is the hotels are so far out. If you didn't do the optional tours you were stuck in a hotel with nothing near to you. My husband speaks Chinese so we were the lucky ones. We did a couple of the optional tours and were glad we didn't do too many. The shows and cruises were excellent. Luckily we didn't do the Peking duck dinner, as everyone was so disappointed they paid $40 each and got 1 - 2 pancakes. We went our own way and went to an amazing Peking duck restaurant paid $40 for both of us had the whole duck, 8 pancakes each. The skin was crispy, and the whole meal was the best. If you are over 60 you can show your passport and a lot of the entry is free. However, Nexus pockets the money and still charges the same amount. The guides were happy to tell us how wonderful their politicians are, and how stupid ours are, which I found insulting and unnecessary. Each guide sprouts the same propaganda and seem like brainwashed robots. The tour guides changed the itinerary which wasn't too bad, except that left the last day in Shanghai with nothing to do. They advised they would take us into Shanghai if we did an optional tour with them and paid extra, or we could just stay in the hotel. The original itinerary had an outing in the morning into Shanghai, and free time after. We all felt cheated and ripped off. They should have taken us into Shanghai as per our itinerary and not charged extra. Having said the above, I found the history, the people and the actual sights of China beautiful, and I wouldn't hesitate to go again, just NOT with Nexus, even at the low price it does not showcase Beautiful China, and leaves you feeling absolutely disrespected, cheated and ripped off.

Timeless Japan with Hiroshima extension – Hands down best tour I have ever been on. The Timeless Japan with Hiroshima Extension truly exceeded my expectation. very late to hotels very far out from anything often very dirty which differed from original itinerary.when challenged over this apparently it was because Chinese tourists booked our original hotel and hotel owners had preferred to take them instesd of us!!!! Guide a sleazy drinking man who was fixated on toilets and his own stories rather than informing of places snd culture…tried to cancel some parts of itinerary which he was soundly reprimaded by group he lacked enthusiasm when showing us places and left us to explore alone many times and then complained when many times members of group got lost. Lucky I travelled with my partner and we were able to keep our spirits up and make the best of it. We stayed on and explore more of beautiful Japan on our own and came home feeling we had experienced the true culture. Never travel with Nexus again.

Thieves. WORST TRAVEL COMPANY EVER – If I could give a zero-star review I would. This company continuously goes back on their word and does not care about their customers. We booked everything for our honeymoon and understandable, things were cancelled because of COVID-19. However, this is where everything went wrong. We were told we could move our trip to June...well everything was… Read more

still cancelled so we chose a refund.

It took them 5 MONTHS TO ISSUE A PARTIAL REFUND. And even then, we had to email EVERY DAY to try and get a response. They said the refund the would issue would include a cancellation fee. Now I am sure their insurance would have covered this but they still chose to pass it on to the customer.

They then continued to change their minds about the cancellation fee. Initially they said it was $200. Then they said it was $350. Then finally they STOLE $400 from us.

This company is horrible. I will NEVER deal with them again. I will actively go out of my way to ensure I can tell as many people about this as I can.

Not only did we lose our jobs due to COVID, we now have lost a substantial amount of money that was meant to go to on our honeymoon.

I hope you all can sleep at night.

cancel we will not be able to refund you anything except $40 of your full order. -Advised them that it was unsafe and too risky so would like a refund. Especially since this level of risk was unknown at the time of booking (booked last year). - They said they are not forcing anyone to travel and that if people think it is too dangerous they shouldn't travel and just forfeit the cost of the service. - I asked them to provide proof of the costs they are incurring due to our cancellation. They said no that's confidential between them and their suppliers. We know for a fact as the airline has confirmed they will issue a full refund for the flight path that they are lying.

They are thieves. Dishonest to the core. Focused taking people money and don't really care if they provide a service or not.

If you have been affected by these guys, make sure you hit them hard with 1 star rating on every medium by each and every traveler associated with your booking. If the laws can't protect us against them make sure the market dumpsters them for their terrible service.

Nexus China Holiday – In April last year we paid $4000 deposit for a 11 day China holiday for April 2020. Obviously with the Corona Virus we are unable to travel. Nexus holidays want to take $750 per person ($3000 out of $4000 deposit) if we cancel this. As the government has stated Do not travel to China on Smart Traveler we asked Nexus what they were going to do.… Read more

They gave us 3 options 1. Lose $750 per ticket and cancel 2. Pay $350 per ticket to transfer to another holiday 3. Move to one of their other tours later in the year (but with no guarantees and possibly having to pay more) They then came back and said we cant do Option 2 as we have not paid in full. I have had several emails with Sally pointing out the facts, but so far no luck. She has now told us she is in talks with Webjet and wont know anything until mid March whether they will cancel. How can a company, who are probably insured justify that it takes $750 per person to cancel a ticket. They will get their money back, or insurance will pay. If we hang out until later in the year, there is no guarantee it will still be safe to travel and we will be no better off. I see other people have been charged much less to cancel, it just doesn't make sense.

steep to me. I have cancelled tours before and they kept a small and understandable fee. The worst part of this was when they rang my wife (without my knowledge) and blatantly lied to her assuring we would get all our money back if she purchased a particular insurance product worth $300 (before our knowledge that they were keeping $400 per person and refunding the trip)... Nexus' are refunding us directly, taking out $800 and the insurance product that they blatantly and admittedly conned my wife into didn't pay out and they've taken us for another $300 and they have informed us today we will get a refund in about 2 months. If you are looking for a tour and stumble across this company STAY AWAY!!!!! They should be considered as criminals and you are assured to have a run in with them at some point on your trip. Could have been better – Overall the trip was good but there were a couple of big negatives that you should watch out for when booking the Indochina trip. The biggest issue was a demand of being tipped by the Nexus representatives from each of the tour guests, $65 CDN per couple within the first 2 days of the trip with the expectation of being tipped the same amount… Read more

numerous times during the trip. It went so far as having one of the representatives follow you into the washroom to harass you on the toilet that a tip was required. There had to be a very firm conversation with the representatives that each tour guide would be tipped individually for their services. After that conversation (and several others), the representatives did back off and let the tour guests tip what they felt appropriate to each tour guide.

The other issue was the room upgrades were not as promised, all rooms were standard. We were sold on the fact that there were $700 in room upgrades included in the package and when asking each of the hotels they admitted that all room were standard and there were no upgrades.

Other than these issues the tour itself was good, and we enjoyed all of the local cultures. Nexus does provide, at first glance, a reasonably priced tour, but watch out for all of the extras! Nexus has a lot to learn to become the Leading Asia Tour Operator it claims to be.

The Chineses holiday version of time share high pressure sales – Nexus tours are the Chinese version of the free weekend at a resort on the condition that you sit through a 2 hour sales presentation for their time share, only when you get there you find you are hounded by sales people every time to leave your room, then find that you are captive so if you want to eat or drink you have to buy their overpriced… Read more

offerings so it ends up costing as much as if you had brought a decent holiday in the first place.

For the nexus tours of china it basically costs you the air fare. Nexus provides basic clean hotels, reliable bus transportation and a tour guide. They do this though receiving sponsorship by the various sales outlets they visit and through selling overpriced optional extras. They do take you to the attractions promised such as the great wall, although their visits are very brief as they need to take you to the next sales outlet.

As an example, one attraction we visited was the summer palace in Beijing. The summer palace has hundreds of acres of gardens and buildings. One could easily spend a whole day there, however, we were given 40 minutes, as we needed to hurry off for a long drive to spend a couple of hours at some factory outlet.

The optional tours are generally overpriced and poor value, with the tour configured to make it inconvenient not to take them. Further, prior to starting the tour Nexus states that one should book before the tour rather than miss out. The reality was that they were selling optional tours right up to tour time, then purchased tickets at required.

An example of their MO with optional tours was the tour to the Forbidden city in Beijing. Like the Summer Palace the forbidden city is a huge place that would easily justify a whole days visit. On the day the tour group visited Tienanmen Square. It is a short walk from there to the Forbidden City. Although tickets for the Forbidden City cost about $12 and Nexus was not required to transport us there Nexus charged $80 for the optional Forbidden City tour. For that the tour guide accompanied them for a 90 minute walk. Those who did not do this (including my wife and I) had to walk around the walls of the city from the entrance to the exit and wait.

There were several optional special meals. Sometimes those who did not do these were able to walk around the street and fend for themselves. Other times we were at a hotel away from other alternatives so had little other choice. The meals were all nothing special and very poor value. For example our for our Peking Duck night Nexus ordered one and a half ducks for a bus load of people, and padded the meal with a mediocre assortment of other dishes. The duck meat was horrible and greasy, and we were just supposed to sample it wrapped in thin pastry wafers.

The only worthwhile options were three shows that we saw. They were all excellent.

While travelling in the bus we were subjected to incessant sales pitches from the tour guides over the loud bus PA system. They were relentless. In china there are many incredible things to see while driving along in the bus. We would be driving past these things, but instead of being told about them we were being told about how beneficial pearl dust was for ones skin, or about whatever we were going to see a the next sales outlet. By the end of the tour people were getting very niggly and were suffering headaches. The smart ones wore ear plugs.

At the sales outlets we were usually taken into a room and unless you made an excuse and went to the toilet you were stuck listing to a sales pitch for maybe an hour, followed by another hour or so at their sales outlet being hounded by sales people. The smart travellers started to stay on the bus but the tour guide made everyone get off the bus because she said it was unsafe to stay.

We had separate tour guides for the Beijing area and for the Shanghai area. The guide we had at Shanghai was probably the best tour guide we have ever had. He was extraordinarily helpful and went well over and above what was expected when we had a problem. However, in each of the three areas around Shanghai we went to Nexus provided a separate local guide. These may well have been employed by the sales outlets.

On the other hand our Beijing tour guide was the worst tour guide my wife and I have ever had. On the bus she was relentless on the PA with her sales pitches. When off the bus she would walk quickly ahead through crowned streets leaving those elderly people 100m or more behind. If she made the pedestrian lights while those at the back didnt she had no idea. She just kept on going. My wife deliberately stayed behind with the older people to make sure they were safe. Eventually we were heading towards the bus and saw the tour guide laughing with a few people, not look around at all, then hop on the bus and head off without us. Luckily we had her phone number and were able to call her and tell her that she had forgotten part of her tour party. After that incident she was severely reprimanded by several members of the tour group and continually reminded not to forget anyone.

Should you go one a Nexus tour of China? They are very cheap and you do get to (briefly) see a lot of interesting things. You would need to dodge the optional tours (except the shows), have a set of good noise cancelling headphones and something to read while waiting at the sales outlets. However, you still have to pay for your visa and most people only get a limited opportunity to travel over seas so why would you bother?
