Not for me.
Paid the extra $79 for the personal diet and exercise plan. It was a joke. It was not personalised. Just generic. No shopping list or easy meal planning. Very disappointed
Noom - parts ok, but spoilt by other factors
Helped me lose some weight. BUT: no concept of local AU market, shocking IT (do not ever change devices). time difference for feedback awful due to time lag. Note too: One cannot print the daily readings, you have to save them in the App. But .... if you change devices or re-start the course or decide to stop using Noom, all previously saved articles are GONE! Yes, hard-earned money you have paid to Noom doesn't even give you the articles you've paid to read! If you really want to and you have loads of time to spare and lots of paper and printe...r ink to waste, you could photograph several pages of daily articles, then print them from your photos. Now who the heck is going to do that - and in this 'modern' time of IT???? Seriously - WT...????? Coaches ok but could be more helpful in terms of ideas. Ditto for my "guide" who just kept saying things like "what do you think you should do differently" when I mention I'm struggling a bit - ideas would have been more helpful! Also, time needed to fill in every morsel you eat AND read all the daily articles AND read the coach/guide comments etc is a lot... much more then "only 10 minutes a day". And often, AU foods are not in their database, so you have to enter endless details so Noom can "rate" the food. Ultimately, don't pay anyone for weight loss "regimes". Honestly. To lose weight, simply eat healthier foods, as much fresh veggies/fruit as possible, lay off too much fat or calorie-dense food, reduce portion sizes, hugely reduce junk foods, and increase your movement. You'll be surprised how much that will help.
All my money went on their advertising
It’s a great idea, but the support isnt there.
My coach was based on the other side if the world and not very supportive.I like the lessons on the app.
Lied to to complete market research
I like others here completed the research to get a $25 Amazon gift card, now told it was emailed to me by mistake and despite doing the survery and it being their mistake, they won't honor it. Scam company
No support and misleading
Basically it is an app that doesn't support or assist you. A lot of reading and questionable results. Also watch out for their auto billing as they will keep taking money even after you have cancelled
Noom are idiots
The fact they didn't study the Australian market, think that there ads would work in Australia when we work in kg not pounds study the market people, just prove there lazy marketing strategy not to mention lack of contact after the first month
Just log your food somewhere else
While the Noom lessons were good, it's definitely not worth the money. The person who was supposed to be my coach was only in touch for the first month of my six month subscription - no messages for 5 months. That side of things is significantly hyped up.
Don't fulfil their promises
Similar experience to others- they offer a $20 Amazon gift voucher to complete a survey and don't fulfil it.
The coaches only work USA hours and other parts of the world are not supported in normal hours.
They're stealing your data
Sign up screen captures a lot of irrelevant data, doesn't seem to take much of it into account when 'personalising' the experience.
They also send out incentivised surveys, recently one with a $20 Amazon gift card, turns out they can't fulfill the incentive so they sent coupons.
Sounds like a scam to me.
The best part of the product is a glorified calorie counter, which is actually free to use anyway.
The program itself seems good, but the signup process looks like it was designed by a snake oil salesman.
The program itself is good and I can see how it helps a lot of people lose weight. I lost 1Kg in the first 5 days of the trial. However, I'd lost 16Kg on my own before this so I've already done some work on my unhealthy habits. I'm just trying to get rid of the last stubborn 6Kg to get to my ideal weight.
- The program helps you identify foods that will help or harm your weight loss and how your calorie intake is for the day.
- Lots of healthy recipes,
- Good weight loss psychology lessons.
- Lots of suggestions of how to replace unhealthy habits with healthy ones.
Now the bad.
- They want to charge you for the trial (in what way is this a trial?)...
wasted my time completing their survey, they said I would get a 20 dollar amazon gift card, Nothing came back from them, I should have known better! Scammers big time!
I signed up for a free trial with Noom but requested to cancel a few days before the trial period ended. Noom came back to me on the app to offer a reduced price of only $19 a month with option to cancel at any time (instead of $69.99 per month) if I agreed to continue, an offer I took up as was interested to see if I could see results in the one month period. Now Noom has taken the $19 AND the $69.99 out of my bank account! When I questioned with them they replied that I had been charged twice as I needed to cancel the original $69.99 subscrip...tion through Apple - but at no time during our original conversation re: the special offer of $19 to continue on my plan did Noom inform me that it would be a separate subscription. As I agreed to continue it was assumed that this was not cancelling anything. Not once did they alert me to also cancel the original subscription plan through Apple. Otherwise, I would have! So now due to not being fully disclosed, I have 2 x separate subscriptions in place (hence 2 x charges occurring!). I only ever agreed to one subscription (or so you would think the way it was set up and their communication with me about it all!). I have repeatedly questioned Noom why they never once informed me this would be the case, or what I needed to do when I accepted their "special offer". Now I have to go through the process of filing a dispute with Apple and requesting a refund through them instead for the $69.99 (hopefully they did the right thing and refund for me!). Noom just says they cannot refund it themselves. I am so disgusted and disappointed in the way Noom has handled this as a new customer - they do not openly or honestly disclose these requirements. All I can say is be VERY aware when signing up for their service as I feel completely taken advantage of. I have cancelled the service altogether and will be letting friends and family know to steer well clear of Noom.
Received an invitation to do a survey with compensation of $20 Amazon gift card.
I spent 10 minutes completing it but received no gift card.
Time wasted.. No promises kept :(
I'm loving it!
Such a great app! Let's you track what you are eating and psychology side has really made it easier to make healthier choices. I'm not craving anything and feeling great! Yes it is a little pricey but definitely worth it if you need a little support getting the weight off
Program is great, app is bad
First of all, to the moron who said 56kg is for those with an eating disorder or under 5ft, you're so wrong. I'm 5'2" and 52kg is an ideal weight for me. I used to be 48kg, size 8 - I've NEVER had an eating disorder, in fact, I used to eat a Hungry Jack's whopper meal every day while at 48kg (though that was all the food I needed in a day). While now, at my age, I'd rather be size 10 than 8, there is no way a person is underweight at 56kg, especially being a short female. Weight loss and maintenance are damn tough when you're a short female, es...pecially as you age. Unfortunately between my last job and then quitting cigarettes, I've gained a lot, and after all other diets (fasting, low carb etc) failed, I turned to Noom. This is my experience: The good: - the articles are great. They really make you see food in a different light. This program doesn't make you deprive yourself like everything else does. It's really a fantastic way of seeing things. Just the first couple of weeks helped me immensely and I stopped seeing it as a failure if I ate something that isn't good for me. Instead of giving up, I persevered. THAT was a huge change from my past dieting habits. - I had no trouble cancelling the trials. I did it by email and then got a message in my coach message centre saying it was cancelled but I could use it up until the end of the trial. I started a second trial and the same thing happened - I don't understand how others have had trouble. Just email them! - you can have more than one trial, and it's supposed to resume where it left off if you sign up for another trial within 6 days of the trial ending. - it has SO MANY foods in the app ready to log. You don't really have to add anything. - the foods are divided into red, yellow and green. THERE ARE NO BAD FOODS! NONE! It just teaches you to have less of the red group and more of the others, in a way that doesn't make you feel bad for having 2 x 46 calorie cookies (they're my main treat - 2 cookies satisfy me for a snack).
Questions & Answers
How do i stop my subcription
From previous posts it seems emails are the best way
I have no connection with Noom and am not sure if I will sign with them; but I was wondering if any of the people complaining about not being able to cancel their trial or subscription have tried having their bank cancel the transaction or sending a complaint to the provided CEO's email address (firstname.lastname@example.org)? Given the guidelines on their website I would think any bank worth their salt would reverse a transaction if you provided them with those guidelines; and a screen-dump of your message to your coach, or a copy of an email to Noom or the CEO cancelling your membership.
I also was able to get a person on their on-line chat facility within 60 seconds (even though I am not a member) and they were quite happy to discuss how I would cancel my subscription if I decided to join?
I tried to contact Noom a number of times to cancel a post-trial ongoing billing arrangement that I had not agreed to.
Noom did not respond to my three emails to email@example.com.
Noom’s email server rejected my two emails to firstname.lastname@example.org and email@example.com.
All three email addresses are listed on Noom’s website.
You can ask the coach to cancel and they will cancel. Or email them. I've had no trouble cancelling.
Contact your bank asap , they may be able to put a stop on the billing, if not you can change your debit card number
Thank you. The bank cancelled my card ☺️
