Easy and fast shipping. I was a little weary getting the original as it wasn't as thick as my previous mattress, but I was pleasantly surprised that it has been comfortable after a week of sleeping. We put a claim in that was approved as a fault in the mattress, onebed offered us the now "essential" version claiming it was the most like the "original" version we purchased a year ago & has an upgraded "latex feel" top. The mattress arrived and after now 4 nights I can't sleep on it! It is nothing short of a cheap eBay style foam mattress wrapped in a pretty one bed cover claiming to be as good as these reviews. Not only this, we purchased an ORIGINAL one bed that had a flipable topper from firm to soft, this cheaper version mattress that has arrived is fixed. This isn't anywhere near what we purchased and I find this experience with one bed complete deceitful claiming this replacement under warranty is most like what we purchased. We purchased original, they short changed us to the even lesser quality essential claiming it's now most like the original we purchased - why would you not send an original version? The mattress feels unstable and does not provide the level of support reasonably expected from a relatively new product.

* The mattress has always been used with a waterproof protector. * It has been placed on a suitable, supportive base. * There is no visible damage — the issue occurs only during normal use.

In short, the problem is functional rather than cosmetic: the mattress rebounds when unloaded but performs poorly when actually slept on.

Customer Service & Warranty Process

I contacted customer support explaining the situation in detail. While responses were polite, the assessment focused strictly on warranty requirements requiring at least 20mm of *visible sagging measured without weight* on the mattress.

Because the mattress regains its shape when not in use, it does not show this level of permanent indentation, even though excessive sinking occurs during sleep — which is when support actually matters.

I was asked to unzip the mattress, remove internal foam layers, and provide staged measurement photos. Despite explaining that the issue relates to performance during normal use, the discussion remained limited to whether a measurable visual dip existed under warranty terms.

Australian Consumer Law Concerns

I raised that my concern relates to consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, which require products to be of acceptable quality and fit for purpose — meaning they should function as a reasonable consumer would expect during normal use.

My request was not unreasonable; I asked whether a practical resolution such as an exchange, store credit, or return (even with applicable fees) could be considered. However, the company maintained that assessment could only occur under warranty criteria tied to visible sagging measurements, rather than considering usability or performance concerns.

This distinction was frustrating, as consumer guarantees operate independently of a manufacturer’s warranty and are intended to address situations where a product does not perform as expected even without visible structural defects.

Overall Experience

The experience felt procedural rather than solution-focused. A mattress can appear visually compliant while still failing to provide adequate support during sleep, and this practical reality did not seem to be meaningfully considered during the process.

The website images show fully decompressed mattresses, including the edges. If this decompression issue is common, it should be clearly disclosed so customers can make an informed decision. All these reviews are about the mattress after it arrives. I’ve had this mattress for 5 months and it’s awful. As it doesn’t have any springs it just sinks down where you lay. alternatives were pointless, as they can't even get the product to me. They suggested shipping to Brisbane as an option, which is completely impractical and absurd given it's a 15-hour drive away. How am I meant to get the mattress back to Townsville?

I promptly replied requesting a full refund due to these failures and have yet to receive a response.

It's unacceptable to advertise a product as in stock when it isn't, and to falsely claim nationwide delivery when they can't even deliver to a regional centre. I would strongly advise against purchasing from OneBed and will be purchasing from one of their competitors.
