Follow-up · Response was efficient and taken seriously We just explained the problem in detail and listened to Lou with her suggestions, which unfortunately didn't work, so she recognised that and immediately put in the order for a brand new replacement. select number of friends that can be entered - which causes a number of issues.
So the only way to get around that is to switch off the white list, which is the main selling point of a phone like this. So you are left with just a basic, over priced phone for the features it has.
As mentioned by another user, the back of the case is extremely flimsy & comes off too.
I'll be taking this back this weekend to the retailer we purchased from.
Helpful hint for anyone reading this who's looking for a good kids option, you can switch on 99% of the safety features (locations, safe list, no phone etc) via Google Family Link App on any phone. This is the route we'll be taking now.

turn off MMS Receive. What prompted me to do that was my elderly father somehow, accidentally, tried to send me something from his smart phone and it was a load of photos which he said he didn't mean to send to me but was doing something with them... Anyway, it must have been a huge file or files which he accidentally sent me, as I got a message saying I had an MMS but it took hours and hours to download - which meant I couldn't delete it that message, nor could I delete ALL messages. So it locked the phone up. After 12 hours of the "Download" notification continually going round and round, I decided to turn the phone off and take out the battery for 30 minutes. That seemed to do something as when I started it up again the Read option was there. But I just canceled it immediately without reading it and deleted that whole message. Didn't want any problems with a huge MMS.
So next challenge was to work out how to stop MMS messages coming in. I couldn't work it out so I first tried to call Opel on their 1300 number (within working hours). That was a bit of a shambles as I kept being told by a recorded voice that I was number 1 in the queue but after 20 seconds, then kept asking me if I wanted a Call back or if I wanted to stay and talk to an agent , press 1 or 2 - I kept wanting to stay on the line, then the message repeated itself - saying I was number one in the queue etc etc. So I gave up on that idea and tried the Chat.
Within a few minutes I was talking to a person called Ria and after a few minutes more I was being given a step by step walk-through of how to stop receiving MMS on this particular phone. I might have been able to work it out myself but it would have taken quite a while.
I would like to highly commend Ria for this person's professionalism and competence in assisting me with my technical query.

bugbear to me since relinquishing my dinosaur Nokia from the ?mid-2000s after 10 faithful years service and 2 battery replacements. I asked the helpful, kind & patient Opel Live Chat Person Ysrael just now if he could please pass on a suggestion to Opel management: could they please consider providing replacement batteries for their very economically priced IPhones and increasing their memories to 128 GB as we are in the market for an Iphone for my partner. My partner has gotten used to a mobile phone for the first time since getting the Opel Flip which he still loves but would like to now get his own IPhone. I am still AMAZED at finding out that there is a phone company out there - in Australia, blow me down too - that provides replacement batteries and chargers for a 3 year old phone. BRAVO OPEL & YSRAEL - more of the same please! And thank you for your very kind, responsive and patient customer service. I thought this was dead with phone companies. Ysrael said he would pass on these 2 suggestions about their iPhones to management, so here's hoping. Cheers Opel - world-leading great attitude towards customers and the Right to Repair their Flip Phone products and minimise electronic waste.

We had trouble getting my husband's Opel Touchflip to work when NZ's system changed to 4g Volte. I contacted the company for help as the phone was less than a year old. We dealt with Vi who was amazing. She quickly arranged for us to return the phone (postage paid) and within a couple of weeks sent a new one. The communication and level of help was second to none.
Ria was able to solve a problem I'd been having. She was clear and talked me through the solution step by step. I was very happy with the result and her calm helpful manner

Opel R10 tablet is basically useless as battery life is very poor even with most settings turn off and low display settings. Im pretty tech savvy but this thing I cant believe you are able to sell it as a product. Cant find a real manual for it. Overall a waste of money, do yourself a favour do NOT BUY
Customer support arranged prompt despatch of a new replacement battery to despairing aged customer who relies on his mobile Opel Touch flip phone as soon as it became available . Old battery had suddenly died without warning . They further followed up to ensure battery arrived and phone had returned to working order and was connecting to Hearing Aid via bluetooth .

Re Opel security pendant. originally purchased from Officeworks and a minimum system its been great. Transitioned over to a new app suitable for new android versions I must say OPel support is real people and doing a great job. The transition was plagued by Optus outage in the area but we worked through and got it all working. Poor quality, even poorer service. Believed the marketing hype and sadly purchased this Opel flip, a very poor product, barely lasted 18 months before the battery swelled and disintegrated the phone from the inside. Purchased 2 x Opel mobile phone chargers. Had an initial problem with the output being different to what was advertised, but they quickly issued the correct ones at no cost and quickly. They were also very quick to respond and answer questions. Very polite as well. Thanks Show details
Opel 60Q rugged phone doesn't have a rugged screen. One small drop and the screen shattered. Reached out to Opel to see where I can get it fixed, but they don't offer that service and don't cover for accidental damage, which considering it's a rugged phone, the damage shouldn't have happened. find one online, however, the phone will then not be water or dust proof after that. My advice is to spend a little more money on a rugged phone that lives up to the claim, let me a Doogee, $30 bucks more. Would not recommend this phone at all

Unrequited love – So wanted to love this phone but it let me down within a week. Opel have promptly approved its return and were much easier to deal with than Harvey Norman where it was purchased. Excellent Customer Service – Unfortunately, X2 flip phones I purchased experienced identical faults at the hinge. Contacted Opel and received a prompt reply from Ria. Was most helpful and processed a refund of my purchase.
A hopeless delivery service – Why do companies still persist in using this useless delivery service? Hopelessly slow delivery,still hasn't arrived from Melbourne to Wollongong after seven days and get told that there are further delays expected but can't get an updated delivery date because the "national service update" section on the website won't load!! Unacceptable at any time, particularly near Christmas, as it is now.

A great budget entry-level phone – Bought this Smart55R to replace an older 3G-d only phone (another brand). 5.45" screen is nice and compact compared to other phones with bigger screens, fits in my pocket very nicely.

A BASIC USABLE PHONE – I have a basic Opel Flip Phone 6. Bought to satisfy the requirement of my bank who wanted a number for text. It is not a smart phone but has easy use buttons and volume on a call is excellent- rarely use the speaker. My usage is minimal so still working my way round it and thru the manual. Great phone for elderly - had a glitch but Opel service was excellent and replaced without hassle – Opel flip phone 6 purchased, but became faulty within 12 months. Opel were great to deal with (thanks Lou) and phone replaced without hassle. This phone is excellent for my 99yo Aunty. Unfair, poor service – Purchased this 6 months ago. Now will not charge. Opal customer service terrible. Was told it has to be sent back for repair. So no phone whilst time is wasted ! Will not buy this brand again ever!
