Aspartame causes weight gain – Over many years drinking Optifast on and off, I was always suspicious as to why I would somehow put weight ON while I was taking the shakes. I've only just learnt that they are full of aspartame which is now proven to cause weight gain. Since completely stopping the shakes, I'm shrinking to my normal body weight at last. handful of nuts daily and a small amount of extra dark chocolate. The odd sip of wine but pretty much none. 4.5 kilo loss in the first 10 days. Goal is 20, I will update again soon. Don’t hesitate to start. My inflammation and pain has already gone and my energy levels have doubled already.

Love it – Just pour more water - 300mls up of cold water and more yummy and better texture… i love it with chilled water … it’s been 5 days sjnce I started using it and lost 3 kgs already!! I was losing weight whilst we are on holiday in Fiji… I replace my breakfast with this shake and dont get hungry til 5-7pm… so not surprised i lost weight! It works for me – Used Optifast strawberry or coffee for years as a supplement at lunch. Low fat milk & ice in a shaker. I don’t get hungry and if I do I will have a piece of fruit in the afternoon. Don’t like the other flavours. Show details

honest, its not coffee or a Frappe but it isnt bad tasting either. I make it with exactly 200 mls of cold water and I am going to buy this flavour again. Do give it a try!

Tastes vile, nothing like coffee – Tried coffee flavour for something different. Absolutely vile. It tastes like burnt sugar. Very hard to stomach. Makes me feel sick just thinking about drinking the rest. Will stick to vanilla from now on. Show details

New coffee Optifast is terrible!! Would not buy again – I have tried all flavours in original. Only coffee in new version. On its taste & conisistency would not buy again. Undrinkable – I have tried the protein plus, regular and mocha... Whatever they try and pass as coffee flavour is absolutely foul and on the final try of consuming it actually made me vomit. Strawberry, chocolate and vanilla are ok though. Show details

Coffee protein plus – I have not had the coffee optifast for a couple of years and recently purchased the coffee plus protein by mistake. The actual taste and after taste was terrible and nothing like I remembered. Not sure I will continue with the rest of the box it was that terrible.  Show details

Stop messing with the recipe – The new improved Optifast VLCD Protein Plus - Coffee flavour tastes nothing like the previous version. It has a terrible after taste now. I drank one for breakfast every day for over 3 years and they were so handy when running late for meals. So sad and disappointed that they changed the recipe. Disappointed Customer – After some time of there being no stock available I recently purchased the coffee flavoured (my favourite) shake and have found that the flavour is not the same I am unable to drink it!! Tastless - the Optifast Protein Plus Shake Coffee – The normal coffee one tastes nice but the extra protein one is tasteless - i love all of their shakes (except chai) - you need to add more flavour otherwise it would be good - it does fill you for longer and ive had WLS - doing this to help maintain weight lostt Show details

Be careful of side effects – I bought a multipack to try some different flavours. I first tried the coffee flavour, which smelled terrible and tasted just as bad. I didn't feel great after. Not easy but it works if you stick to it – I have been on the very low calorie diet as part of a clinical trial to put my diabetes into remission. and bars (choc and coco and berry), plus two small bowls of low starch veges. The willpower to stick to it Is hard, but to see the weight coming so regularly is worth it. I have not changed my exercise routine, which has been regular walking for many years.

Update - after 13 weeks I have lost 20kg!

Made me sick like having allergic reaction and wiped me out for whole day – Product has changed and makes me sick like I’m having an allergic reaction within 30 minutes and wipes me out for whole day. violently ill. Tried to continue for 6 months. Blaming other things for how I was feeling. I’m no longer sick now I’ve stopped using them. I’m on an Optifast support page and others have experienced the same thing. I would recommend trying it because it really does work. But if it makes you sick stop immediately. I’ve sold the boxes I had bought and lost a lot of money to get rid of them. But getting something is better than nothing.

more kilos the coffee flavour is really nice it’s like a normal coffee after I’ve finished the coffee I’m going to buy all the flavours. They are so nice can’t wait to try the different flavours

Best I’ve tried – I’ve tried tony Ferguson, man shake, celebrity slim and optifast is by far the tastiest and good value for money. Coffee is my favourite flavour. I use 300mil of cold water. Show details

Delicious flavour! – This is my favourite flavour. I have it every morning with ice. I mix it in my blender so it tastes just like a frappe without all the calories. I don't strictly follow the program but I do like to have this every morning for breakfast. Show details

My favourite Optifast shake, next to mocha – I love the taste of the Optifast coffee shake, in fact I look forward to it every morning, the same way I used to look forward to my morning cuppa. creamy and delicious. I just wish that it was available in a box of 18, like the vanilla and chocolate shakes. Optifast definitely works, I have lost over 75kg in just under 11 months.

New coffee formula tastes awful – I’m a long time user of the coffee flavoured shake. It was my favourite. I noticed this week that this particular shake tasted sickeningly sweet. The flavour is unpalatable to me. Show details
