Shocking!! I was struggling and requested a rate review. Their rates are super high. They dropped a dot that saved me $10 a MONTH. Thanks for nothing!!! Better than the Big Banks – I have been a customer with Origin MMS for a year and a half now and so far I am satisfied. I love the convenience that comes with online banking. I tend to check my repayments often and within a short time, I have all the information at my fingertips. Their rates are competitive and I am pleased I'm with them. Good rates and sometimes frustrating service – Have had my Origin loan for 18 months now. Rates are very competitive. I requested to reduced my loan limit and was charged a $150 fee. I have since spoken to Origin and given my feedback and they refunded the fee as a goodwill gesture which I think is pretty awesome customer service. Show details ·  3

Great service as well as home loan rates! – I refinanced my investor loans through an affiliated mortgage broker service which was funded by Origin MMS and I have to say, my current rates are the lowest on the market and the customer service I am receiving is prompt always in point. Incredibly high discharge rates – Origin seems to have forgotten why a lot of people discharge their mortgage. It's because they can't afford it anymore and need to sell. Charging $795 + solicitor fees (their own costs btw) for getting some relief is criminal and extortion. I will never go with these guys again. Take me to court if you want, I'm not paying that. Take your balance and leave me alone. So disgusted by the greed.

Why are the loan discharge fees so expensive? – Finally paid out my home loan. Contact Origin MMS re Discharging the loan. Surprised at the steep $795 Discharge fee! plus a $121 Custodian fee. "Furthermore, the figure does not include any third party fees such as solicitors, legal and other applicable fees." I emailed them saying "Seems like a lot of money for the discharge fee?" No Response! So I still don't know the cost of these solicitors, legal and other applicable fees! Show details

Horrible customer service, 6 weeks already and still no discharge – Pros - competitive interest rates. other lender. Rates are good and it takes long to get thru. I don’t do much online banking with them so the delay in there portal did not worry me much. But since I have started the process of discharge, a new can of worms has opened. First my agent sent them a scanned copy of the discharge form. When he followed up after couple of weeks he was informed that they will start anything till the original copy is received. Then They said it’s a 4 week process, which I reckon is long but ok. But then there is no info about dates or anything productive. There response are “ We already sent a follow up email to the funder regarding the status of your discharge request” . I still have no dates for te settlement. Will never recommend, this has been horrible and harassing expirence.

I dealt with Faith Bagaporo of the Discharge team & she was much better informed and helpful than my own broker!! Time was running out & I was quite stressed the day I first spoke to Faith. Faith's customer service is outstanding & she put my fears at ease & got the discharge in motion in very short time & I'm very grateful for the continued excellent service from Faith, the Discharge team & Origin enquiries!! considerate of our needs and highly professional. Our settlement was 30 days, and the team processed our discharge promptly, providing plenty of information throughout the process. We now own our home, but we would not hesitate to recommend Origin MMS as both a home owner and a landlord lender.

Slow and difficult transactions – I find the online banking site so clunky, outdated and not easy to navigate. Try finding a 'Pay Anyone' receipt no. or even a minus amount on the account somewhere. All I eventually find is a pending transaction. Which is OK if it was after 3pm, but still no receipt no. to give to the payee. These transactions usually take two days to process.… Read more

Why?! No other bank takes so long. To make a temporary increase to my 'Pay Anyone' limit, a 'request' had to be submitted in writing, with a reason why I needed it. It then had to be approved by someone at Origin? It was easier not to bother and make payments over a few days. Not customer friendly. A very annoying banking service to transact with.

Slow, irresponsible and expensive! – 1 star too many! Rate was too high... communication is poor and customer service was not accessible unless you spam them with emails. They prolonged my discharge for almost a month, paying an extra monthly repayment which could've saved me hundreds $$. offer similar rates. Two years too late....

To top it off, with all the fee's and etc, I logged into my portal during discharge to hopefully access my statements to only find it not accessible.... called and then they asked me for $15 statement fee which is in my contract that i signed.

That $15 is what really annoyed me and, therefore, you're lucky you even get a star!!!

If I could give negative rating I would – Communication is disgraceful. Would not recommend. I could write a novel on the lack of communication and run around that I have received. actual loans, our rates are great. Changes are well communicated although it would be nice to go paperless as we sometimes get 4 letters sent to the same address.

***** Trying to login to online banking is hit and miss, with it often lagging or getting an error like “invalid loan number”. Annoying when trying to transfer funds. History only dates back to 3 months so it’s hard to document previous transactions when needed. Apart from the online portal, pretty happy with everything else.

Poor customer service – Interest rates are pretty good, basically where it stops. Rang 5 days ago with an issue & am still waiting for the phone call back as my issues couldn’t be answered. Pretty disappointing and will be moving to someone else.

Good interest rates for new borrowers – Loan brokered through Reduceloans but problems with Originmms :- - They are probably the only company that takes 2 months to pass on every RBA rate cut to current customers but advertise the rates to new customers from a few days later. - Response to requests and queries can take weeks. - They will not allow you to easily move to other products… Read more

that they offer new customers with lower interest rates for the same type of loan as your current loan. - They have very high discharge costs so you cannot leave them easily. - After an interest only period, they will move you to an extremely high variable rate and take months (2 - 3 months) to process a request to either discharge your loan to move to their current advertised rate products, so till then you may end up paying 5% interest for 3 months while they dally around with your application.

Now since lots of providers are super competitive and there are others have extraordinarily better customer service and contract terms, I would definitely suggest shopping around other bank and non-bank lenders, before you 'have to' move to this lender as you absolutely exhausted all your options and could not find a better deal

Higher rates on back books (existing customers) is what most of the banks and non bank lenders do but the other providers easily move you to their current advertised rate products and don't charge you $2000/- to try and move to another another product or another company.

The consultant was friendly and prompt and their interest rates are really low which is the most important thing. The problems started when it was time to go through their solicitors, Galilee, to process the loan documents. I went to the trouble of hand… Read more

delivering the signed documents to their office in the city as I didn't want them to be lost in the mail. The receptionist told me they would be processed in 2 working days and they would contact me in this time if there were any issues. 3 weeks later I had an email from my conveyancer that Galilee was still waiting on the documents! When my conveyancer told them I'd already delivered them they didn't respond and then rescheduled the settlement date for an extra week! And then on the new settlement date they STILL hadn't done what they were supposed to do and still weren't responding to any of our emails so my conveyancer had to make a formal complaint to their head office and it was only then at the 11th hour that they finally signed their documents. It was one of the most rude and unprofessional experiences I've had and my conveyancer told me this is not the first time they have had problems with Galilee. So I would make sure you discuss this with Homestar and make sure you don't encounter the same issues I had before signing up!!!

First home – I went through Homestar for the purchase of my first home. The process was generally straight forward and settlement occurred on time so overall I am quite happy. My only complaint would be it can be difficult to get in contact with them which did cause some stress particularly right before settlement however I was somewhat expecting this based on other reviews. moved my loans regularly, usually every 2-3 years) - but Homestar is the worst I have dealt with regarding customer service. For example, their so called loan specialist assigned to me only give one word or one sentence email replies. It takes about 3 to 4 emails before I really get the answer to my question. He also got my fees wrong - its good I checked and questioned it. Its good I am used to dealing with lenders already and so I know what I need to prepare and sort out but for first time or people who are not used to moving their loan, they will really give up on these guys.

I still rated them 4 stars out of five because they are the best ones out there for their loan projects its just a let down with regards to customer service. Hopefully they read this review and provide those necessary training for their staff members particularly those supposedly called 'loan specialists' because I genuinely think they can be very good lender if they step up their customer service.
