Communication is disgraceful. Would not recommend. I could write a novel on the lack of communication and run around that I have received. From when I first had my loan approved to when I tried to pay it out - nothing but terrible customer service and communication.
Good rates and sometimes frustrating service
Have had my Origin loan for 18 months now. Rates are very competitive.
I requested to reduced my loan limit and was charged a $150 fee. I have since spoken to Origin and given my feedback and they refunded the fee as a goodwill gesture which I think is pretty awesome customer service.
Great service as well as home loan rates!
I refinanced my investor loans through an affiliated mortgage broker service which was funded by Origin MMS and I have to say, my current rates are the lowest on the market and the customer service I am receiving is prompt always in point. Very happy customer!
Non competitive interest rates
Have been with Origin for over 10 years On high interest rates but can’t get a reply when asking for current interest rates as the 5.47 we are paying isn’t competitive in today’s market.
Great customer service
I have been with Originmms for 12 months and had to contact customer service only on couple of occasions, both times customer service was very friendly, professional and helpful. I am grateful for easy and simple application for Covid-19 hardship assistance, fast processingn and prompt response by Originmms. I am happy with the interest rates and overall online access.
Decent Rates and Good Communication
Since my first review in January, they have made changes to the online platform. No longer getting error messages and it’s quite fast to move through now. For that, I’ve added a star from 3-4. Does the basics - BPAY, Transfer funds, check funds etc...still unsure of how to document historical transactions though.
In terms of our actual loans, our rates are great. Changes are well communicated although it would be nice to go paperless as we sometimes get 4 letters sent to the same address.

Interest rates are pretty good, basically where it stops. Rang 5 days ago with an issue & am still waiting for the phone call back as my issues couldn’t be answered. Pretty disappointing and will be moving to someone else.

Good interest rates for new borrowers
Loan brokered through Reduceloans but problems with Originmms :-
- They are probably the only company that takes 2 months to pass on every RBA rate cut to current customers but advertise the rates to new customers from a few days later.
- Response to requests and queries can take weeks.
- They will not allow you to easily move to other products that they offer new customers with lower interest rates for the same type of loan as your current loan.
- They have very high discharge costs so you cannot leave them easily.

Low interest rates,
We used Homestar for our first home. Interest rates were great & process fairly quick. Settlement delayed slightly as their solicitors didn’t check the adequacy of our submission of finalised documents.
Homestar = good, their solicitors = bad!!!
I had no trouble setting up the unconditional approval for my home loan with Homestar. The consultant was friendly and prompt and their interest rates are really low which is the most important thing. The problems started when it was time to go through their solicitors, Galilee, to process the loan documents. I went to the trouble of hand delivering the signed documents to their office in the city as I didn't want them to be lost in the mail. The receptionist told me they would be processed in 2 working days and they would contact me in this ti...me if there were any issues. 3 weeks later I had an email from my conveyancer that Galilee was still waiting on the documents! When my conveyancer told them I'd already delivered them they didn't respond and then rescheduled the settlement date for an extra week! And then on the new settlement date they STILL hadn't done what they were supposed to do and still weren't responding to any of our emails so my conveyancer had to make a formal complaint to their head office and it was only then at the 11th hour that they finally signed their documents. It was one of the most rude and unprofessional experiences I've had and my conveyancer told me this is not the first time they have had problems with Galilee. So I would make sure you discuss this with Homestar and make sure you don't encounter the same issues I had before signing up!!!
Questions & Answers
regarding alot of the uncertainty in Australia, I was wondering about how safe offset funds would be with a non-bank like Origin. For example: if someone has 10K in an origin offset account and some un-authorised transaction occurs, are my funds insured? and if origin was to go bankrupt, what would happen to those surplus funds I have in my account?
I want an equity release, do i need to go with Mortgage ezy or can i speak directly to Origin MMS?
