Don’t touch them … sourced to another state & person. Wouldn’t take phone calls, automatic reply to emails with no follow up; cost changes; settlement delayed too many times; transfer of funds delayed after settlement. The list goes on & on.

Very disappointing and frustrating experience. As settlement got closer, I had to constantly chase for information and every time I called, I was put on hold and told someone was on another call and would contact me. I ended up dealing with multiple different people with no clarity around who was responsible. At the very last minute before… Read more

settlement, I was called and told I owed money with no explanation as to why the settlement statement had been changed or what the extra money was for. I would never use this company again or recommend them.

We had a very disappointing experience with Ownit Conveyancing following the settlement of our property purchase. Our matter settled successfully in July 2024, and we received written confirmation from the firm that their work was complete and the file had been closed. All settlement funds were transferred as requested and the transaction was… Read more

finalised through PEXA.

However, shortly after settlement we were contacted about a water bill that related entirely to the seller’s pre-settlement period. After extensive correspondence and escalation over many emails, the issue was eventually reviewed at a senior level within the company and we were issued a refund in October 2024 after the firm acknowledged that the matter had not been identified during settlement.

Despite the issue being resolved and refunded, we have since received ongoing payment demands and threats of debt recovery for various alleged fees, with no supporting documentation or explanation of how these charges were calculated or why they were not addressed at settlement.

We have repeatedly asked for evidence, including PEXA records or reconciliation of settlement funds, but none has been provided. Communication has been inconsistent, and statements made verbally have contradicted the firm’s own written correspondence.

What should have been a straightforward property transaction has instead turned into a prolonged and frustrating experience involving repeated attempts to collect money we do not believe is owed, long after the matter was confirmed as closed.

Based on our experience, we would strongly encourage anyone to reconsider using this firm.

I normally do not like to write negative reviews. But I feel obligated to help others to avoid the same pitfall. I recently sold one of our properties in Gold Coast and employed OWNIT as our rep. Unfortunately, I had one of the worse experiences I ever had with a seller conveyancer (having previously sold 3 properties in the Gold Coast/Northern… Read more

NSW area without any problems). While I cannot comment about the standard of works of other conveyancers in OWNIT, I was totally disappointed by the service performed by the two that I had to dealt with. Their names will not be mentioned here to avoid the appearance of personal attack. From the outset it is obvious that they were not particularly professional in their service and did not have the interests of their clients in mind and were only interested in getting the maximum pay for the least amount of work. The most serious of the problems was the computation of final settlement amount. The did not bother to contact us about a recent council fee, which we had already set up a payment. The draft settlement document was sent to us very late close to the sales closing time. When I contacted them to change so that there would not be a double payment, they refused. I always think it was the conveyancer's job to ensure the settlement amount is correctly calculated. Due to their incompetence and recalcitrant, the double payment did occur, and it took us a lot of extra (and unnecessary) time and efforts to recover the money. Remember to choose your conveyancers carefully!

Stressful and Undue stress due to OwnIT Conveyancing – I selected OwnIT considering their good google rating, and fixed price quotation. But sorry to say they lost my confidence and i would not recommend this firm for your upcoming property transaction. If there would have been opportunity to give zero star, I would have given them zero star. My conveyancer was lacking necessary communication.… Read more

There is no way client can contact conveyancer DIRECTLY . This company lack basics of customer service. I end up sending multiple email to their group email (legal@ownit.com.au) before I received any response.

Typically, they take 24-48 hours to provide email response. When I tried to contact them via phone call, [Name Removed] is always busy and after 3-4 phone calls, she responded back with incomplete information.

After receiving response back from vendor’s solicitor, My conveyancer did not bothered to inform for good 16 hours and which resulted in building and pest clause to expire without developing any agreement with vendor.

She did not calculate following items properly • Confusing water bill for 49 days Vs 212 days • Rate search not performed properly, which resulted in undue surprise and extension of settlement date. • Rent adjustment was totally missing in the calculation.

Due to his lack of her professional attitude and delay and low-quality communication. They unnecessarily created stressful situation. STAY AWAY FROM THEM AND YOU WILL BE SAFE.

Settlement postponed not once but twice due to not providing required settlement figures in advance for buyer to validate this numbers.

5% discount and fixed fee are not true. There are hidden fees that they will invoice you after. A very doggy company that makes your purchases experience very stressful and unpleasant

The best conveyancing I’ve used – I can’t recommend the team at ownit conveyancing highly enough. Amazing service, professionalism yet very friendly, quick turnaround times, minimal interaction from my end, and an extremely competitive price. Many thanks for all the help.

Unfortunate Experience with "Ownit Legal Team" – In my dealings with "Ownit Legal Team," I encountered a concerning practice unlike any other solicitors I've engaged with. Their upfront charge, termed as "onboarding," set the stage for a disappointing experience. Upon using their valid link to complete the onboarding process and pay the fees, I received an email from "Ownit" the following day.… Read more

Astonishingly, they claimed my payment was late and had already closed my file. To reopen it, they demanded an extra $198. When I pointed out using their valid link, they insisted my file was closed on their end. Seeking a refund due to the lack of trust in their practices, they then demanded $168 to "close" my application. The ambiguity regarding the status of my file and their insistence on additional fees was concerning, indicating a focus on charging rather than resolving.

Despite numerous attempts to resolve this issue, I've been met with a cycle of redirections, passing me from one person to another. It has been nearly a month, and I am yet to receive a refund. My next course of action involves contacting QLD Fair Trading to file a formal complaint.

I caution others considering "Ownit Legal Team" to approach with care, as my experience significantly deviated from reasonable expectations. The lack of responsiveness and their failure to uphold commitments have left me deeply dissatisfied. Transparency and integrity, vital in client dealings, were regrettably absent in my interactions with "Ownit."

While I had hoped for a resolution, the recurring lack of accountability has led to disappointment. It's my sincere hope that sharing this experience will encourage greater accountability and transparency in the services offered by "Ownit Legal Team" for future clients.

I have found Conveyancers not easy to work with in my previous experiences. we recently bought an off the plan block of land and decided to engage ownit to do conveyancing for us. From the very start it was a bad experience. Some major points: 1. We… Read more

decided to use their contract review service to review our contract initially. We were reasonably sure about the contract but decided to use their services to double check. They advised the property will be managed by a CTS (Community title scheme). The contract specified a free hold title will be given to the buyer at settlement. When we asked them to clarify where a CTS has been specified they couldnt provide any. 2. Our purchase was a cash one without the need for finance. Prior to settlement we were advised the exact settlement amount details would be provided but this didnt happen. As a result we deposited money to their trust account based on their draft calculations. Exact settlement amount details were provided after completion of settlement. 3. We had to chase them up for refund of surplus funds left after settlement. Seems they had completely forgotten to do it. 4. Close to 3 months after settlement we found we didnt have a title to the land in our name. On checking with ownit initially they told the title transfer had been done. Then later on they admitted the transfer request had not been submitted to the titles office. 5. A week later after this request was submitted they emailed us with an invoice saying they had incorrectly refunded the title transfer money back to us. And after transferring the money the didnt bother sending us a receipt. Above were the major issues we experienced with ownit. In addition we had a hard time getting through to our solicitor to speak about our questions. The property was jointly purchased by us (husband and wife), yet for every call i would make the call back would be to my wife's(in about a day or two) . Still not sure about why this was the case. Interacting with them made us feel they had no ownership of the mistakes they were making. Their answers to our email inquiries would always be a 1 liner without any explanation. We hope others have had/will have a better experience with them because with us it was truly terrible.

Follow-up  · 1. They should have been available to answer our queries. 2. They should have provided exact settlement statement prior to settlement 3. They should have lodged the title transfer application after the settlement. 4. They should have been more pro-active in the whole process 5. Contract review should have been done correctly. Them not lodging the… Read more

My experience with Ownit as a first-time buyer was extremely disappointing. After signing the contract to purchase the property, we sent it to Teagan for review. At no point were we asked to provide identification documents, nor were we advised to ensure that my signature and name matched my legal name during the contract review stage. Later, our… Read more

lender requested documents showing my signature matched my legal name. When we raised this issue with Teagan, the follow-up process was extremely slow and poorly managed. It took over a week to resolve, and during that time there was little to no communication from them. We were left under significant stress, worried that we would not secure the loan and could lose our deposit—something we could not afford. Throughout that week, we had to constantly chase them for updates and even involve our broker and property agent to help push the process along. I believe this issue could and should have been identified during the initial contract review. Failing to confirm or advise on necessary legal details was a serious oversight on their part. As a result, we were forced to pay an additional $550 to Ownit and $660 to another party for contract amendments—costs that could have been avoided. The unnecessary stress, delays, and extra expenses were incredibly frustrating. Ownit may be a budget option if absolutely nothing goes wrong. However, if even a minor issue arises, they do not appear capable of identifying problems early or providing timely and appropriate advice. Based on my experience, I would definitely not recommend their service.

Do not use them. They made mistakes with my property settlement which have caused me legal fees and a great deal of stress. I could never recommend Ownit Conveyancing. The whole experience felt like I was being churned through a sweatshop. No personal service, no legal advice and poor communication throughout. We constantly had to chase updates, reports, and documents, right up to settlement. Their “free contract review” missed key details (like the postcode!),… Read more

forcing us to re-sign the contract and delaying settlement. Most emails were templated and irrelevant, and our main contact, Madison Brown, is a paralegal — not a solicitor?? “Chelsea Fowler,” who occasionally emailed us on behalf of Madison, doesn’t appear to exist locally, which makes me think much of their admin/ pretend "legal" work is offshored.

They also only discovered over $12k in unpaid body corporate levies the night before settlement.. a huge oversight that could have delayed settlement.

For the small difference in cost, we should have gone with a local ~ practicing ~ solicitor who actually provides legal guidance.

Disappointing from start to finish. Do not waste your time, money, or energy with OwnIt Conveyancing.

seller. Asking for copies of things numerous times, so instead of checking their records just kept asking. Stuffed up the settlement date due to lack of communication with the bank solicitor even after confirming everything to order to settle. Sent out PEXA invite but not received etc. Sorted by my daughter but they didn't make sure this was done by the bank solicitor. Simple phone call to them would of had this sorted. By the lack of professionalism settlement occurred 24 hrs after it was supposed to settle. Took the mortgage broker to get involved to make this happen. Where others have said lack of communication is totally correct. Don't be fooled by the 5 star ratings given. They are cheap for a reason... My daughter found out settlement had occurred from the real estate agent, she got called 20 minutes later. Just useless.. she has submitted a letter of complaint over a week ago & surprise surprise no communication of them.... if your considering using them run run

Will this work if i give them no stars. My purchase has been under threat every step of the way. It is right now. They were sent confirmation of finance at 9am on financial settlement day. I contacted them at 2pm to ask if they had confirmed it with buyer. They told me to send it to them. I sent it again. Its 3:10pm and still no confirmation. If they blunder this I will sue.

If there was a lower score than one star, I would use it. PLEASE take the time to read the other reviews. Promises fall short – Promises of smooth sailing, transparency and stress free settlements aren't what they appear.
