I initially had trouble with squaring the saw blade with the guide. The mitre guide is not correct; so, with a little trial and error, I have marked the common mitre cuts with a permanent black marker. Regarding the blade, I have always used two (2) blades one (1) for softwoods and the other for a harder material. That way I have extended the life of each blade. As blades for the saw are reasonable compared to the cut of replacing the tungsten tips, I will always buy new ones. I have two (2) blade manufacturers that I prefer, but that's a personal choice.

How do I get the laser to work on my new saw? After switching it on at the drop handle, the laser lights up but there is no laser line extending down the cut trough. There is also a metal band extending across the laser. Is this to be removed as it splits the laser light. Or, am I supposed to align the laser myself? Thanks, Graeme

The laser alignment suck on 2 Ozito saws i purchased. Same with Ryobi in my experience. Also, if using outside (daylight) the laser is so weak it is extremely hard to see. Put a piece of timber on the cutting plate & without burning your eye ball out, lower your eye level down so you are looking at about a 30 degree angle to the timber and if like my saw, the laser line becomes visible.

Aligning the laser is simple in practice but the method Ozito have used to fix the laser and its adjustment is very crude and extremely difficult to get it to align correctly AND to have it stay aligned. Ryobi saw was about the same. Crap.

Maybe a Makita is correct to start with and/or align. You get what you pay for i suppose.

I have placed some wood in the cutting plate, but can not see or get a laser line to appear. I just wish Ozito could supply a document or video to help. Will take it back to Bunnings Trade Center tomorrow to see what they can do.
