Does anyone else have issues with opening the lid? Our lid doesn't 'spring' all the way open anymore and only holds as far as 45deg, making it impossible to scoop out rice without touching the inner lid. I don't believe the spring is broken inside, but it doesn't feel as strong. We've resorted to using a small piece of wood to hold the lid open - just like a car bonnet.
Mine still working fine since new. Just the dodgy steam basket that warped from day one and Panasonic Australia unhelpful to replace "Return unit to retailer for complete refund". Not driving or sending the unit back to Sydney 1000km away...
The spring may feel right but if the plastic tabs / slots inside where the spring ends clip has broken or jumped out, tension will not take place and you got floppy lid. Grab a screwdriver and take a look, nothing to lose.
hi,do you sell the inner bowl and power cord(Panasonic sr-ze 185) separately?cheers!
The power cable is a standard 3 pin IEC cord, the sames used on any computer equipment, LCD. Buy them on eBay or a Jaycar store, boxes of them in any op-shop too. Panasonic spare parts might sell the bowl, ring them to get the part number. But I would say it is more expensive than buying a new complete unit.
Hi Michael, you can purchase breadmaker spare parts via Statewide Appliances, their contact number is 1800 005 220
I have a Panasonic SR-DE183 Rice Cooker. After 2 and a half years the Teflon bowl started to bubble. I kept on using it but the bubbles are now splitting and it is impossible to get a replacement bowl. One place I called told me they will try and see if they can get one but told me that it could cost as much as double the cost of a new rice cooker. I am really worried to buy another Panasonic and have the same problem. Has anyone else had the issue with bubbling?
Welcome to the new world of wastage!!! These companies don't want you to buy a bowl they are more interested in selling you a complete unit, this is why the globe is in such trouble and climate change is so upon us!!! Its absolutely disgusting. I also had to buy a new rice cooker (it was for a Breville rice cooker) for the same reason that I couldn't buy a new bowl, its an absolute waste!!!
Thank you Steve. It looks like I will have to do the same.
Does the rice cook perfectly if using the Delay Timer function? I am interested to set the timer at night and have rice ready when I wake up.
What is the smallest amount of rice that this rice cooker can cook comfortably?
The minimum rice you can cook according to the measurement scale starts at 2 cups.
There is a smaller model.
1 cup is the smallest amount.
I have the PANASONIC SR-ZG185 rice cooker model. How do I cook barley-lentil soup? The manual does not state the proportion of soup mix to water/stock. How much water/stock to add for 1 cup soup mix (dry barley+lentils) and how long will it take to cook using the Soup/Slow Cooker function?
Sorry we have not tried this cooker for soup so try ringing Panasonic or do it by trial and error?
Hello - is the inner kid removable for cleaning? & does this have a countdown timer to let you know when rice will be done? Trying to determine if worth spending the extra money from the base model. Thanks!
Hi Melinda
Yes the inner lid comes out for the cleaning. There is no count down times till the las last 10 minutes.
It is worth spending extra .. this is a good rice cooker
Thanks
Thanks Sudil!
Hello lovely Melinda. The lid itself is not removable but the inner clip on lid is. So cleaning is fine. Also it shows time to completion and chirps when it is ready. We really are loving this cooker and you just need to add a bit extra water than stated to fluff up the rice.
Yes.
Inner lid is removable.
There is a countdown timer.
Thanks! I’ve just ordered this rice cooker so I’ll let you know how I go!
Thanks Russell - that’s exactly what I was looking for - the countdown, easy to clean & audible beep once complete. Thanks for the tip to use extra water. Have you ever tried porridge in it ? (Ie: oats not rice?)
How do set it for Brown rice cooking time?
Very easily. It has 5 different rice settings. Instruction manual is also very clear.
