Im confused with my identical policies for my two same age dogs with potiki. One dog gets more rebate on an identical service. It's been explained as a cap on rebates to me so to speak. My dogs aren't on the same policy so I should receive identical… Read more
rebates to my thinking. After all I'm not the patient the dogs are. If im not getting identical rebates on an identical policy I should be getting a %age discount on the 2nd policy as that pays back less. At $200 a month i expect same rebates on identical policies. I may well change one dog to another insurer to get a higher rebate. Resolution of claims is quick but unequal in value considering I pay the same price for both.

Great Value: Our premium only increased by $20 a month after renewal, which is reasonable considering our frequent claims.
Perks: We love the added bonus of flea and worming treatments being delivered directly to us
Multi-pet Potential: While a multi-pet discount would be nice (especially since our cat is also insured with Potiki), the overall value remains strong.
Possible Improvement:
Multi-pet Discounts: Offering a discount for insuring multiple pets would be a welcome addition.
Overall:
We highly recommend Potiki Pet Insurance. Their claims process is easy, the value is good, and the perks are a nice bonus. They've been a lifesaver for our curious pup!

Try to get out of claims with no evidence to support their claim rejection – Rejected a claim based on a condition being 'pre-existing'. When I asked them to justify this (as the condition was not pre-existing), they could not back this up with anything to support their rejection. substantiate their claims of it being a pre-existing condition, I requested a SECOND review, which eventually lead to them agreeing that the condition was indeed, NOT pre-existing, and the claim was then accepted. No apology whatsoever. This is really concerning because most people would have just accepted the first rejection. God knows how many people they are trying this trick on. Shame on you - it's behaviour like this which puts people off getting their pets insured.

The flea and tick treatments are no longer offered, instead discounts to their preferred suppliers - I suppose it's just another form of revenue generation which they are marketing to pet owners as 'perks', and they get kickbacks/commissions. Discounts on overpriced services, dining, pet products, gift cards, takeaways and travel+leisure does not represent any value to the consumer, in most cases these things with the discounts are still more expensive that what one would normally pay.
The shrinkflation effect is not just limited to supermarkets, premiums increasing every year, with value of offerings coming right down.

Not as much value these days – Sometimes I have to contest and cite the PDS when they deny coverage, after which they'll actually cover it, which is a bit frustrating. Otherwise claims are easy to make. Premiums increased 25% after the first year; I'm bracing myself for the next increase, who knows how much. program that covered flea, tick, and worm treatment every six months for free. They recently stopped doing this and instead offer irrelevant discounts through one of those corporate coupon book type programs we've all seen before. They are one of the companies included in the GapOnly program, though. Potiki used to be the best value, but may not be anymore.
Most negative reviews come from people who don't read or don't understand their insurance policy and what it covers. Almost all pet insurance companies (Potiki included) are underwritten by the same company and have nearly identical PDS. Just do your research before committing.

who they are, seems to be petinsurance.com.au by this point) explained the changes in several emails. Since then, it's just been difficult dealing with Potiki. It certainly feels like a challenge to receive the so called now 'Old Perks'. I'm unsure if it was always this way or not, as I only commenced my policy in May 2014. Frustrating when details Potiki already have are re-requested, which makes me believe they or the parent company are purposely making the redemption process challenging.

This is my 3rd year with potiki pets underwritten by pet insurance.com.au. I’m grateful that my dog is still young and hasn’t had many issues. The few occasions we’ve taken him to the vet include issues relating to ear infection and upset stomach. On each of these occasions, the benefits agreed were paid and reimbursements were made extremely prompt. I’m more than happy with the service so far. No complaints at all. Show details · 1
We have had several insurance claims for our Labrador and Potiki has paid out on everyone. Its all been done electronically and there has never been any request for documentation beyond what the vet has submitted electronically on the spot. We have not had a claim rejected. really hope that my positive experience continues because our little Lab has not been given a fair start in life... I can see why some owners would not see value in pet insurance, but my experience to date has been very positive. If you are unsure about pet insurance, I recommend getting it and setting a high excess, that will minimise your upfront payment and if your pet does need expensive treatments then any excess is pale in comparison to what the treatment would be without insurance. If you do need to claim - pet insurance is a godsend.
Since joining Potiki we have only experienced positive service. Reimbursement for relevant treament for our pooch always done very quickly. Explanations of reimbursement also very clear. Any clarifications attended to by staff very timely. Can't fault the organisation. Show details · 1

Seamless claims process – I had to make 2 claims last month, and they were all done well. With the 1st claim, I had to pay upfront because the new vet staff member didn't know how to do the 'gap only' processing. I got the refund quickly. Potiki care pack – Potiki used to offer Nexgard Spectra deworming tablet in the care pack and we have been getting the same for our dog in the past few years.
