Prorack Roof Racks Questions & Answers
VerifiedAre pro rack cross bars longer at front or back?
Hi Keith, some vehicles roofs may taper towards the back of the vehicle. If you use a flush bar fit then the length of the back and front bar may be different, however if you use a through bar fit then the length of the bar would be the same as this allows you some room for adjustment. external link
Question about K328 fitting to Prorack T17 crossbar. I removed the foot from the T17 okay and then tried to put the K328 foot into place but it will not go in. There is a gap which will not allow the flat screw and washer to connect to the receptor on the leg. The foot will not go snugly in and there are plastic protrusions that don’t neatly seem to align. Any suggestions? PD from Qld
Hi, Step 5 on the instructions there is a left and right side for the foot to match up with the K328 fitting kit. Match up the cutout on the leg and the fitting kit for the lock barrel on the cover. If you have any further questions, you can contact our customer service team here external link
Thank you, I managed to piece that together over the weekend after some further trial and error. The tray has gone together fine and is now sitting up bolted on the through bars. Just one other quick question, in relation to the wings that are screwed down onto the voyager tray 3 front and 3 rear, I’m putting in two prorack jerrycan holders at the rear. I gather that I need to get rid of the three Wings at the rear and use the shackle bolts in the space created. I guess that in itself provides the stability in securing the slats down onto the crossbar? Can you confirm? Regards.
Hi Paul, you can use the channel nut to install on the alloy tray. See the instructions for the alloy jerry can holder that read "Install to Cargo Tray with T-Slot Channels" so the wings stay fixed to the alloy tray.
Thanks for that but I can’t see any T slot channels on the floor rails of the tray. Am I missing anything?

I inherited a pro rack when I bought my car second hand. I cannot get the clamp bolt out to remove the racks. It turns but just turns on the spot. Racks are loose and will slide along the mount on my car as a unit but I need them off? Please help

Hi, I bought the k451 mounting kit, the S16 roof rack and prorack 360l roof box. When I tried to secure the roof box to the roof rack that was mounted on a 2009 Hyundai i30 fd the hole spacing in the roof box was not sufficient to allow me secure it to front rail and the back rack at the same time. It seems like there needs to be another hole in the front of the box about 30 mm from the last hole of the pre drilled ones. Could you please advise? Thanks

I own the P17 roof racks from prorack. With this square bar style, can I attach an awning without drilling? If so would I need to buy an extra fitting kit or just what comes in the box with an awning? Currently looking at the xtm 2.5x2.5m awning from BCF. Thanks!
Hi, Unfortunately we do not have a awning bracket that suits the P bars and drilling into them is not recommended, as this will not be covered under our warranty and may cause rusting and weaken the bar.
The spring fell out of my roof mounts - does anyone have tips for getting it back in?
Hi Sophie. Please contact our customer service for assistance on 1800 143 548
I bought Hd racks for my 2022 Dmax X terrain and got the k1200 fitting kit as suggested, neither seem at all compatible.
I would confirm directly with prorack that you have the correct and compatible components for your vehicle. I had a similar issue where I was supplied an incorrect mounting kit. Prorack were extremely helpful.
Hi Nathan, Can you please contact our customer service on 1800 143 548 for assistance with your fit.

I purchased the standard roof racks(P17) almost had them fitted but moved the feet too far in as they were stiff. How do I widen the feet? seems simple but I can’t move them.
Hi Isaac, If you undo the adjustment screw about 10x on the leg it is spring loaded. You push that screw in and it will allow you to move the leg on the bar. Tighten when leg in in the correct position,
Thank you. Had the same issue. Simple when you know how.
Yep. Had the same issue, and was just about to ruin a kitchen knife to fix it. Now I have to put all the other screws back in.
How can do I cover holes if I want to remove the prorack roof racks off my ve commodore forever
Hi Craig, The VE Commodore has little covers supplied from the factory that you lift off to uncover the mounting points for roof racks. If you don't have these you might be able to get them from a Holden parts dealer still or from a wreckers. Please see the link for instructions and see step 5 for reference. external link

I have just purchased a HD pair of bars and mounting kit for my MY20 Holden Trailblazer, I have noticed the mounting kit only has 1 screw and bracket for each side, the vehicle is fitted with 3 bar position that have 2 threaded inserts for each mounting point, it seems that Rhinorack use both the OEM inserts for each bracket mount.Do I have anything to worry about in regards to the strength of the Prorack system?
Hi, The design of our leg and fitting kit only requires one of the thread inserts to be used in the designated bar position for this vehicle. Our fits are thoroughly tested for strength and safety by our engineers when used as stated in our product instructions and safety documents. external link external link
Will k775 kit fit 2012 Sante fe using through bars Sante has raised rail
Hi Ringo, Do you have any raised rails or flush rail on your vehicle? The K775 is for the Santa Fe 2012 with a flush rail. Please use the fit finder for your correct fit. external link
Hi i have a Rhino Roof Rack on my old car mitsubishi Triton and now I want to use the same cross bar of my Rhino and attached to your fitting kits that suita Triton. Would that be possible? The lady who work in Supercheap auto said its possible. Can you please confirm it? Thanks.
Hi Martha, Unfortunately not as Rhino Rack is not our product and is a different system.
How do I slide the feet on a T16 HD rack. I can't seem to move the feet as they are spring loaded. They slide all the way in but don't slide out.
Hi Vik, You just need to make your adjustment screw is undone roughly 10 times and then you need to push that screw in while moving the legs. This will allow the leg to move on the bar to the position you need, tighten the screw back up when in the correct position.
Sweet as ! Thankyou , I wish I had asked earlier
Loosen and Press and hold screw. It will then slide both ways.
Can the decaying rubber pads be purchased separately, or will Whispbar supply at no cost due to premature deterioration with proof of purchase date? Again, It would be nice to see some response from Whispbar Australia, so far conspicuous by their absence in replying to customer concerns.
Hi there, apologies some time has passed since your initial enquiry. If your enquiry is still unresolved, please contact us via our website external link
Re: the Whispbar/Prorack s-wing - I am interested to know whether anyone giving them good ratings have installed the protective rubber strips to replace the totally stupid soft rubber inserts which are located internally - or are your aluminum Whispbars now looking like rubbish and scored on top from loading ladders, etc. I ordered online and couldn't believe these strips weren't provided as they are on Rhino and other reputable brand bars. I would love an answer from Whispbar Australia as I am still awaiting answers on some other shortcomings raised with Whispbar (and the supplier A1 Roof Racks) re: the Whispbars I purchased.

Which fitting kit do I need? A 2001 Toyota Prado, rain gutters, no factory rack/rails. Tradies heavy duty bars. Been told by some K327, by others K328.

has anyone had problems with the rubber/plastic mounting pads perishing and falling apart .
2 years now, and not yet. Car is garaged though - if they are constantly exposed to UV and/or salt water then I guess that may be an issue.....
Yup! Started falling to pieces after 6 months. Now a couple of years later rubber feet literally crumble in my fingers. Really should be using a UV stabilised rubber. It's not like they're easy to remove.
My car is garaged 99% of the time, can't believe how bad they are. Have another car in the weather most of the time with Rola roof racks over 10 years old with no issues with plastic and rubber components.
Yes totally agree. Not stabilised and fall apart very quickly. You could get a few years out of them if you left them alone but if you remove them then you are up for a new fitting kit. Long term definitely better to invest in quality that ProRack does not offer.
Same! Mine have only been on my car for about a year. Already falling apart. :(
