Prowler Proof

Over priced piece of sh!t, comes off runner evertime the dogs brush against it when let outside. I would not recommend this door to anyone. Hopeless, knowing what I know now would have it even if it was free. Which they certainly are not at $1000

Amazing Warranty – We purchased our Prowler Proof screens and doors nearly 8 years ago. This past month I contacted them re some slight corrosion on 2 doors. They were replaced for us, no questions asked.Absolutely amazing. I did read that they stood by their 10year warranty, but never thought I would have to question this. Indisputable failure by both Prowler Proof & their Townsville stockist/installer to comply with Aust. Standards – I would score both Prowler Proof & their Townsville stockist/installer a minus figure given the chance! The metal “security” mesh on the majority of the so called Security Screen Doors & Windows isn’t taut & already slack, sloppy & saggy & they are only a few months old? Worse still the Townsville stockist/installer can’t measure correctly at all… Read more

& have unacceptable, non compliant gaps of over 5mm on both the doors & front windows. The doors have a gap varying of between 6.8mm & 8.6 mm with a gap between the lock & strike plate of 5mm, 2mm more than the maximum gap imposed by the Australian Standards...I measured all of this by placing Australian Coins in the gaps so there is no dispute with my measurements. None of these gaps are compliant with the Australian Standard Regulations in Security Screens & NSSA have been informed & notified. The stockist/installer states that they fit all of their Prowler Proof Security Screens in this same way? God help all of the customers in Townsville, as a lot of customers in Townsville that probably don’t realise how badly fitted their so called Security Screens truly are? This stockist/installer even half assed the job & used the old 20 year plus frames/boxes around our rear louvre windows & just riveted a new screen on, which doesn’t make them any more secure & definitely not to Prowler Proof’s so called standards?

Worse still the Owner of the Townsville stockist/installer measured & had his so called General Manager measure (so they annoyed us with 2 lots of measurements & visits) & they still they got it so completely wrong? The triple locks on the doors are more than visible & can be accessed & cut with bolt cutters, or a rechargeable angle grinder used to easily cut the triple locks that are so badly exposed, & the gaps on the windows are large enough to be jemmied easily. Worse still after paying over $8000 for this absolute garbage that isn’t secure or worth having, this City is experiencing a unprecedented increase in B&E’s & the figures are something like 579 homes broken into in the month of May 2021 alone, & car keys stolen when they break in..there was 153 cars stolen in May 2021. Even my unit neighbour was robbed of her handbag, electronics, keys & car whilst she slept, only just over a month ago after the thieves gained access by breaking her locks.

Prowler Proof are complicit as they supplied these sloppy, badly made & measured screens & recommended this installer to us, as they are the only ones in Townsville to install Prowler Proof. When I rang & spoke to Prowler Proof regarding my complaints the receptionist at Prowler Proof would not transfer my call to management, & she was abrupt, condescending, rude & fobbed me off & didn’t really give a flying damn, so they did not bother to act upon my complaint whatsoever. Both businesses have been contacted & all I got was treated disdainfully, excuses & the fob off after being so rudely spoken down to by the Owner of the Townsville stockist/installer when he came to check these failures (I ended up telling him to leave) & the receptionist at Prowler Proof. The Prowler Proof 10 year warranty isn’t worth wiping your bottom on, especially if they knowingly recommend stockist/installers that can’t even measure or install to Australian Standard Regulations & fail to act upon complaints? The Owner of the stockist/installer here in Townsville’s idea of rectifying these serious issues is to offer to alter the door jambs etc., when it isn’t the door jambs that is causing this problem, it is the shoddy & incompetent measurements, workmanship & installation. Even the window screens are installed badly at an angle & with large gaps. The installation is further sub-contracted out by the Townsville stockist/installer of Prowler Proof to yet another installer, they don’t even install these themselves?

The previous 20 plus year old diamond grill security screens fitted perfectly fine (we only replaced them as they were corroded & didn’t have triple locks), but these people obviously don’t give a damn about getting measurements right, installing correctly, & supplying a product that meets & is compliant with the Australian Standard Regulations for Security Screens, let alone providing any kind of decent customer service. I wouldn’t recommend Prowler Proof or their incompetent & rude Townsville stockist/installer under any circumstances & intend if necessary in taking this to court & getting our money & more back for putting us at a huge security risk by supplying an inferior, inaccurate & totally useless product that does not comply & is more than false & misleading & isn’t suitable for its intended purpose. Not only does it fail miserably to fit the purpose of being Security as all of the measurements & fitting is so far out it’s ridiculous, it fails to meet the necessary Australian Standards Compliance. We deserve to get what we paid for & for the screens to be compliant & fit for their purpose, & having to fight about this has placed us under far more monetary cost to ensure our security, stress causing us health issues & inconvenience, because both of these companies have also failed to suitably & thoroughly investigate or correctly rectify these serious issues in a fair, professional & timely manner.

Sure Prowler Proof products aren’t welded & it is made in one piece, however with the other huge failures to comply with basic Australian Security Screen Standards, the fact that it’s not welded makes little to no difference whatsoever. We want what we paid for & we want these issues dealt with fairly, urgently, & to our complete satisfaction or I will continue to expose these incompetent & uncaring companies in any way possible. The buying public has a right to know about the failures to comply with the Australian Security Screen Standards & Regulations which are indisputable failures, & that these companies have refused to correctly rectify & address these serious issues. The photo shows how a $2 & 10 cent coin fits in the gap between the lock & strike plate & those coins add to 5mm, the Australian Standard gap is 3mm & this is only one of many photos that I can provide.

My recommendation is if you live in Townsville, get quotes & the job done by Prowler Proof’s competitors, as you have a far better chance of getting what you pay for & for the screens to be fitted & compliant with Australian Standards & Regulations & measured & fitted correctly & probably at a far cheaper price.

After researching the multiple systems for security doors out there on the market this time around (including Crimsafe), we made a decision to go with Prowler Proof this time around (installed by their Silver Dealer, Ajay Security) and use Forcefield for all of our main doors and Protec for the doors we didn't really use or look through all that often.

Meshtec is a highly regarded mesh supplier and it was good to know who Prowler Proof rely on as their infill mesh supplier (other brands do not state where their mesh comes from). Airflow on both Forcefield 316 stainless mesh and the current version of Protec perforated aluminium are both excellent and Protec also adds a little more privacy too.

Frames also look exceptionally good (nice to not have to see a visible mitre join at the corner) and the locks, receivers and Performance Plus strike plates are much better than the competitors IMHO. The other thing that got us over the line was their 10 year replacement warranty which did not mandate specific cleaning intervals and/or require the use of a specific system's cleaning products. We're looking forward to using our new Prowler Proof doors over the coming years and trust that there will be good product warranty support from our authorised dealer, Prowler Proof and Assa Abloy Lockwood in the years ahead.

decided upon the Prowler Proof product - it was as good as or better than anything else I could find in a very crowded market, with sound warranty terms, good customer feedback and aesthetically pleasing designs. To suit our house, we opted for the ForceField product. Stephen Chalmers from Chalmers Security Installations was the successful tenderer and we were very impressed by his professionalism - particularly when our schedule got interrupted by builder delays. Stephen went with the flow and was very customer-focused. Our house is a long, single-storey design with numerous sliding doors and louvre windows. Stephen got the many screens right the first time and we couldn't be happier with the end result - the screens are unobtrusive yet the quality of their construction and installation is obvious. (Prowler Proof contacted us at a later date to ask if they could take photos and, given how pleased we've been with their product, we were only too happy to agree to this.) Peace of mind – We have used Prowler Proof on 2 other houses and felt very safe after doing so, so when we needed to secure a vulnerable door on our new home we chose the same company. K Coleman – Bought a prowler proof roller door about two years ago, our dog ran into the door and the door fell off, door is back on but the locks won’t lock anymore. Have tried the screws top and bottom but still won’t lock. Any suggestions.

was not. Someone was able to open the lock, when I called the tradesman to inform him that the lock was not tamper-proof, he did not want to talk to me. There is a 10 year warranty that is supplied by the manufacturer.

Annoyed. The way they attach the screens, you cannot wash the external side of the windows – Purchased Prowler Proof because I thought they had integrity. But they will not sell me the tool so I can remove the screens and wash the outside of the windows. A hopeless situation for a Commissioner of Declarations in Queensland. Shop elsewhere.

Outstanding service – We just had Rob (of Narrabundah, Canberra) install our Prowler Proof security door and the product is excellent and service was outstanding. You can hardly see it - perfect! – Was looking for a secure option so I could leave windows open in the summer and found Prowler Proof to be a cost effective option.
