I had travel insurance with NIB via Qantas. During the Covid escalation in early March, I had to change a flight due to pending lock down of NY. When I tried to claim the cost of flight change, they (incorrectly) said I fly after a Au Government warning had been issued. It had been issued for APAC, not US. When I challenged this, they then maintained that terms and conditions mean COVID is not included. The logic they used was that restrictions were due to government actions, which are not covered.
AVOID this company's insurance products
The Qantas travel insurance policy has this clause:
"" General exclusions - We will not pay for any of the following losses:
7. A loss caused by, arising directly or indirectly from or in any way connected with any Government intervention, prohibition, or regulation."
Qantas through its affiliated companies NIB, XL and Lloyds, use this clause to avoid claims on the policy.
We could not travel to USA due to Covid, so they use this clause to reject our claim for cancellation costs.
The clause is so vague that it is timeless, ceiling-less, bottoml...
