My bumper bar was torn off by a concrete bollard at the shops the pin fastening the bollard had come out about an inch so bumper went over it but caught it reversing out. Anyway the service from RAA was nothing short of appaling. My car is a 2009 VW Golf. They towed it 20 km away. Did not even give me the option of towing to my referred repairer.… Read more

Anyway they wrote the car off. All that needed fixing was re attaching the front bar. They offered me pittance for my immaculate car that had agreed value for 9 k. Ever since RAA made Allianz underwriters they have become sewerage. Please folks cancel you're policies or check how much they will pay you out on you're car if it's written off. And to Daniel claims specialist ( LOL ) IT'S not my job to follow up with shops who's responsible it's yours you bellend.

Worst insurance company ever. Was told they had paid out car after write off. Called finance company two weeks later and was informed RAA had not paid them out even though it was taken of claim and we had to pay the whole year of insurance. Would definitely not recommend. arranged for the crash repairer to collect my jeep as it wasn't drivable unfortunately for me it was to costly to fix so she was a write-off my claim was settled quickly no drama at all and now have to buy another car but for me would definitely recommend RAA for car insurance. We have house and contents and 2 other cars and trailers insured with RAA and they have always been great to deal with, and before and after tree accident photos

Paid $874 to a trusted company for comprehensive car insurance only to realise it was all a scam – I was hit by a truck in Sydney on 8 Aug 2023 who failed to see me in his blind spot and rammed the side of my car leaving a $11800 repair bill. I took his licence, plate number and phone number and gave these to RAA. I am a rating 1 driver who had never made a claim. Like many other reviewers I found my car had been significantly undervalued… Read more

despite the increase in premiums. Despite selling for $12000-$15000 they valued my car at $5600. As a result they wrote my car off on financial grounds and stated if I accepted the payout the car could never be registered again therefore was useless. There was no payout toward the repair and I was not able to replace the car for that amount. After 3 weeks they made 1 phone call to the truck driver who didn't answer the phone and then sent me a payout proposal deducting the excess even though the accident wasn't my fault. They said they would only chase the driver up further to recoup their losses if I made a claim however I would still need to pay the excess. They encouraged me to drop the claim and pay for the repair myself which in the end I was forced to do. Do not trust this company. They do not care for South Australians. Excessive premiums, undervaluing of cars, limited attempt to contact party at fault before charging the victim with the excess and encouraging them to drop claims.

Bad Experience With The RAA – I have been with the RAA for years and years. It came to a time where I thought I must take out home and contents insurance to cover myself if anything goes wrong. insurance as well in case of a mishap. Well that mishap happened. I was getting out of bed and I slipped and I crashed into the built-in robes and the glass mirror splinted into a thousand pieces. I then contacted two companies to get quotes in fixing the built-in robes both said they cannot replace the glass without repairing the other two doors and the RAA will only cover the door that has the glass in it. I tried claiming it under my home and content insurance and they said No it's not covered. I then tried my special accident insurance. They said No. I then rang YOUI insurance and put the actual scenario to them, what happened to me to them and they said I would have been covered. I was very upset

Avoiding any responsibility to fix my car – Worst insurance company I have ever dealt with, 2 of their clients hit my parked car and they won't do anything to fix my car as both people involved in the crash are blaiming each other, so they tell me they wont do anything until blame can be placed, countless phone calls to them, avoid my questions or wont give a straight answer and to make… Read more

matters worse they also put it on me to go get the police report and pay the $82 application fee before they are willing to look into fixing or replacing my vehicle, I'm a 3rd party that has no fault in this situation, has currently been 2 months since the accident without them doing a thing, absolutely annoyed and disgusted with how the conduct themselves as an insurance company, take some accountability.

Update 12/07/23, car hire company that was organised through crash repairer contacted RAA, RAA are now denying any knowledge of me being involved in this accident, steer clear from these scumbags!

Worst customer service in terms of claims... Rear ended by someone and flee and still want me to pay the excess!! – I had been rear-ended a few weeks ago and the driver at fault flee. Rang RAA and told them what has happened the customer service told me I still need to pay the excess of $500 even though the police report is in place and car registration has been provided. They wanted me to chase the driver at fault and get her details as she needs to admit that… Read more

it is her fault. She flee isnt it obvious??Even the ctp insurer cannot believe why RAA needs me to chase the driver at fault and why should I pay the excess??. I consulted the lawyer in regards to this matter and told me that Police report and registration number should be sufficient for them to look for driver at fault not me. This is why we pay insurance for. I was thinking to change over my home and contents insurance with these guys but on what has happened they proved me that they are not for locals. I will be changing over my 2 comprehensive car insurance somewhere else!!! I will never promote RAA to my friends and family.

I have 3 cars insured with RAA. All of them on premium comprehensive. My pristine collector car was rear ended at a car wash. Damage was minimal but visible. bumper to inspect for damage but did not as there was damage present externally, finally a third visit to drop the car off for repair, took one week longer and then the car was returned to me in worse condition than prior to the accident. 11 hours of work lost to get the car repaired but the paint work was flawed, and the bumper was not even installed properly with irregular gaps and even visible clips. I asked RAA for an alternative repairer as this repairer was not even apologetic after screwing up the repair and I am genuinely afraid that they will cause more damage to a previously pristine vehicle. RAA's response is not to take care of the customer but to take care of the repairer. I am expected to lose more time from work and take the risk of further damage to my car due to "industry standards". I would stay clear of RAA. There seems to have been a change in their conduct towards customers since they changed their insurance underwriter.

RAA has been absolutely appalling to deal with in the past two months since I made a claim under my comprehensive insurance policy, after I was rear ended in early December 2025 and pushed into the car in front. at the back with the rear camera smashed up, with less significant damage to the front grill. The car was deemed not drivable by the crash repairer. I took photos of my car and the at fault vehicle immediately after the incident. I provided the driver's license details, registration and car details of the two other cars involved with the claim, the details of which were verified by South Australian Police. RAA had six weeks to follow up with the other drivers and made no progress. RAA declined to waive my excess when I collected my car pending a "determination of liability". In my discussion with the complaints officer, he said he spoke to the assessor who said the rear and front damage occurred on the same day. RAA used to be terrific but I recommend avoiding taking out comprehensive insurance with them at all costs. I would give them zero stars if I could. I am now out of pocket and pursuing a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.

I recently needed a new windscreen due to large stone chip damage. The RAA online claiming page tells you not to lodge a claim if it is just a windscreen issue. dealer. I was asked to talk to RAA. I was on the phone for 90 consecutive minutes, passed on from one person to the next. I told them that I am only unhappy about the tinting issue nothing else. I was asked to provide proof that my car windows are really tinted!! As I did not declare tinted windows as an accessory. Well, when I bought my new car 2 years ago I called RAA at pick-up to get comprehensive car insurance as I have always done. Not once was I asked about any extras. I did not know at all that tinted windows coming with a new car are an “accessory”. I have been with RAA for 16 years. You can only declare an accessory if you KNOW that is an accessory. Previously never any issues. Had tinted windows replaced quite a few times never any issues. And you called them and got an answer. Although I was promised if I provide proof of tinted windows it would be added to my policy, I received an accusatory email telling me to call RAA to have this added on to my policy. I complained back and they, yes, called me twice when I was unable to answer call at work. That was good from them. Anyhow, previously I loved RAA. You called and got through. Now about 4-5 phone prompts to endure. And I only just found out that Alliance has not just taken on the underwriting of RAA Insurance, they also handle the claims!!! RAA is just a facade. In fact, you are dealing with Alliance staff!! When it was a member’s organisation it was absolutely fantastic! Now, as a for-profit business, all good things gone. Don’t go anywhere near them! I noted the increasing number of negative reviews about them. That is not bias. Try any car insurance review page and check their reviews and you will find quite balanced opinions. Not with RAA anymore. Mostly disgruntled people who were loyal RAA customers for a long time. Well, at my upcoming insurance renewal it will not be RAA. And not Alliance, the same Mob. I am really sorry about this. How many times would I have given excellent reviews on RAA? They are just not what they were 5, 10, 15 years ago. Sad.

We have been an RAA member taking out insurance for a decade or so. Whilst insurance claims were dealt with professionaly and timely in the past, our recent experience has been appalling. I have had a long relationship with the RAA stretching back over 40 years to the early 1980s. As a member of the armed services I moved interstate frequently, but whenever I came back to South Australia I always renewed my RAA membership and used RAA insurance. My current membership period has now spanned over 16 years. Indeed, I once worked for… Read more

the RAA in both the call centre at Mile End and in the shopfronts at Elizabeth and Modbury.

This relationship was based on my belief that RAA was 'simply better', and that the proof of an insurer came if and when I needed to make a claim. Despite your products costing more than most other insurers I believed that it was worth it, as you would always be there 'when I needed it most'. Unfortunately it appears that my faith in the RAA was misplaced. Far from 'being there', RAA is no better than any other insurer - happy to take my money but only too willing to find any excuse not to pay a claim. And to be frank, if I am going to pay for insurance and get little or nothing in return, then I am much better placed finding the cheapest option available to me.

I was once a strong advocate for the RAA. I told my family and friends to use RAA insurance as, in my view, it was worth it as the benefits outweighed the higher prices. But no more. By rejecting the claim on my caravan that I made in good faith, not only have you left me significantly out of pocket and no longer being able to enjoy one of the few activities that I enjoyed as an aged pensioner, you have turned me from being an advocate into a harsh critic. Rather than telling family and friends that the RAA is a better insurer, I will now tell everyone I meet to avoid your organisation as being just another member of a dishonest industry that is rapidly losing the support of the community.

As a result of your failure to act in good faith, I will be cancelling my RAA membership and all of my policies with RAA insurance. It would be an understatement to suggest I am disappointed with how I have been treated - disgusted would be a better word. Frustration. Anger. I actually feel violated. I TRUSTED the RAA, and you violated that trust. And that is far, far worse. I expected better. More fool me I guess.

But I will not be fooled a second time. You have lost a customer, and you will never regain my trust again.

Really cr^p insurance company. Overpriced and wouldn't fix my car after someone hit me and damaged my engine. To top it off, no one at the RAA bothered to tell me that it wasn't going to be fixed and that it wasn't safe to drive and I shouldn't be driving it! Changing to a better insurer asap! emergency helpline, but RAA still failed to act. One of their phone operators even had the audacity to hang up on me, demanding upfront payment instead of providing the urgent assistance I needed. Is this how you treat people in an emergency?

When someone calls for emergency roadside assistance, the expectation is immediate support, not excuses and delays. If safety was a concern, they should have found an alternative way to help instead of abandoning their responsibility.

I had no choice but to accept the help when it finally arrived, but why should I have to pay after being neglected for over 12 hours? This is absolutely unacceptable. RAA is supposed to be a reliable service, but clearly, they don’t care about their customers when it actually matters.

RAA - BEWARE! – DISGUSTED! 13 months after a motorcycle accident where SAPOL found me to be "Not at Fault" and found the driver of a Toyota Insurance vehicle to be at fault and expiated her (she did not challenge the fine in court but paid the fine - a legal admission of guilt) without any warning the RAA put me into the hands of lawyers and debt collectors to… Read more

recover nearly $8,000 within 21 days (8 days before Christmas) for damage my riderless motorcycle caused to a parked car insured by the RAA. I sympathise with the innocent owner and to a much lesser extent the RAA due to the way in which they have dealt with this matter. Right from the start I thought the RAA action against me was a scam or a 'try on' because the legal claim did not have any of my file numbers which the RAA had to have because I sent them. After informing the RAA of my intention to lodge a formal complaint it responded by acknowledging it had made mistakes (like not knowing that I had comprehensive insurance with YMI - which covered me even if I was at fault) - subsequently the RAA declared the mistakes were "inadvertent" - [Content Removed]! RAA correspondence revealed that the 3 insurers had been fighting among themselves behind my back for months. The bottom line: Although the Totoya Insurance client was found guilty by SAPOL Toyota refused to pay the RAA what it legally and morally owes the RAA. My insurer YMI quite rightly wasn't paying anyone because SAPOL found me "NOT AT FAULT" and so, I am alleging that the RAA not having the alleged guts and integrity to take on the giant bully boy Toyota it put me into the hands of lawyers and debt collectors in the hope I'd fall for the ruse and its pretending that it didn't know I had comprehensive insurance. The RAA has closed my complaint and thinks that it can just pass this off as 'sorry for the inconvenience'. Inconvenience! Are you kidding me! I view this as a sleazy attempt to extort money out of me - money that I do not owe - by legal and debt collection threat. If you have dealings with the RAA - BEWARE!
