Excellent customer service and amazing prompt response time
Just wanted to thank the mechanic who attended the time in need when my car 'katsi' didn't start this morning because of a flat battery....and a company who still has human phone operators
Let us down when we needed them
We bought RAA premium cover when our car broke down in a carpark less than 24 hours after purchasing it. We were very much upsold the premium cover with all of the benefits listed including unlimited towing and being towed home within 100km. We ended up buying this cover over the phone and getting our car fixed that day. We called RAA once or twice for other little things after that but the big one was when our car just stopped in Litchfield national park because we'd had a leak in our radiator we didn't know about and our engine had severely o...verheated. We called RAA and a tow trunk was sent out but it was only after 40 minutes of being towed that we were told we couldn't be taken home because as non-resident we were not entitled to that part of the policy even though this had been one of the benefits used to encourage us to buy the product. They insisted on towing us in the opposite direction to where we lived because we were apparently only allowed to be towed to the nearest depot and told we would have to pay for accommodation out of our own pockets. This was a major problem on an old car and the repairs would have taken several days. That's several days without any of our belongings but those we were carrying that day OR the cost of multiple ubers backs and forth for about 70km to get between our house and the depot. When we asked about this over the phone, we were told in a rather hostile tone that the 100km towing home and several other benefits we were upsold didn't actually apply to us. They were part of the premium package that we had paid for but because we don't have Australian passports we were not entitled to those benefits. I told them no one had informed us of this when they sold us the package, nor had they sent us the terms and conditions until after the transaction was completed and the company literally said 'we don't always check'. When I pointed out that this was their error as they had sold me the package on a mislead they just kept saying they weren't willing to do anything but i could lodge a formal complaint and would hear back from them in a week. I did lodge the complaint which they've still not responded to and it's s been over two weeks now. My issue isn't that residents get more benefits, it's that I'm paying the same as the residents and being denied benefits due to the country I was born in. There's another name for that kind of thing. They should be open and honest about this when people but memberships, withholding that information is basically convincing me to spend money on benefits that it turns out I don't get. I feel extremely betrayed and very very let down when I needed this policy most. Would not recommend.
Efficient and Quick
I had roadside assist with my honda HRV that is still within its warranty. The battery died on me after 4 years of use. After a quick call to honda assist I was promptly supplied with details of roadside assist via RAA. Took less than 30 minutes to show up and 10 minutes to replace. Quick and efficient and no hassle whatsoever.
RAA (Platinum) Premium, as the service that I got from the girls on the phone was impeccable. I was stranded on the side of the road, made the call, so easy to deal with. Car was covered by CMI Toyota due a their negligence, I was stuck in Broken Hill. No car, No accomodation. CMI made me doing all running around, these guys were the opposite.
I believe if you have the time to leave bad reviews, then sure a heck you should have the time to leave the good. After all, people tell you who not to deal with... OK, then. Tell me who to deal with... w...
Terrible personal loan ever
RAA products are terrible. Recently I have applied a personal loan with RAA finance. Even though I have a strong financial status they rejected the application saying that I have a house mortgage to pay. She did not explain the rationale behind the reason and got angry when I started questioning the reasons.
I have cancelled my insurance with them after this incident and I am sad that I have my credit file inquiry with no reason.
Beware of their finance product and that deceiving customers. I do not recommend any of their product.
Outstanding service by a friendly and flexible technician
My poor little corolla was abandoned at the carpark in West beach, near the Henley sailing club. Would not start, I thought it could possibly be petrol but nope filled up with a jerrycan from the BP and no luck.
I had to get to work so I got a lift in and called again after work. The people on the phone said within 1h so I rushed down there (lift from a friend only a 15 min trip). The roadside assistant rang on the phone about 10min later, he was already there with the car. I said I was 5min away and he waited, thank goodness. The battery was ...actually dead so jump starting would have been redundant. He replaced the battery 200 bucks all up for battery plus installation and also told me how to reset my radio. The battery has 2 year warranty, lets see how long that lasts from some of the other reviews on here. Really, it is so much cheaper than having to pay for the car to be towed and get a mechanic to look at it. It's worth having roadside assistance if you are not very car-savvy. They will also unlock your vehicle and jump start flat batteries which I have used in the past.
I called out RAA when my car battery died and they replaced it. Soon after the new battery died again so I called them out again. The mechanic told me that I had been given an old battery but he couldn’t replace it under their warranty and I had to take it to aN RAA repairer. He charged the battery and said “hopefully you make it to the repairer tomorrow.” The car wouldn’t start the next day and I had to jump start the battery myself. Turns out the battery was faulty so the repairer called out RAA again to replace it, however they wouldn’t even...go to the repairer without someone other than the mechanic being present. I had to organise a family member to go there. The mechanics who rocked up told me the last mechanic had given me the wrong information and were very confused. All in all I used three call outs for what could have just been a simple battery replacement had I not been given an old one. Will be calling to complain and cancel my RAA car insurance.
We were stranded in the middle of a dirt road 40km’s rural outback With 2 blow outs from fowlers Bay . We changed one tyre and drove as far as we could to ge5 closer to help, We Then made the trek by foot to get reception, you went through all our details left on hold. Then cut off , never rung back. We rung again and now told 2 blow outs isn’t assistance this is considered an accident, explained we’d fixed one and still need someone to recover us . We were told we needed to organise our own recovery. This was frightening 30 degree heat, 6 h...rs from family and 2 hrs from any one with reception. Not once as we were explaining where we were did you show compassion, empathy , consideration . We asked if you could call anywhere for us even to come get us and leave car to go get another spare. Your answer no sorry , you don’t meet the criteria of a recovery It took another hour to make contact With anyone who asked for our coordinates ,this then took another 2 hours to find us . So now we have been stranded In the heat with now one blown tyre and No spare and they are struggling to find us, all we asked was for you to ring the caravan park we were at to make contact and get us assistance. Burnt to a crisp, blisters dehydrated, When the people from the town of 23 people came to help us said we were so lucky we didn’t die out there. We couldn’t get anyone on CB or mobile . The only place we got through to for the first 2 hours was RAA and you washed your hands of us. This would be on your hands if we hadn’t been fortunate enough to of been recovered , by staff at caravan park , and tourist . So the moral of this story , don’t go sight seeing unless you have 2 spares air compressor , and your membership means jack! Couldn’t even get us a phone call for assistance! Poor service, would never recommend you in a fit
i had to call road service at Rose Park on 15 October at about 4,30 pm
The mechanic arrived on time and could not have been more polite , friendly and helpful.
He is an absolute credit to RAA and I hope he is recognised for it.
i would not hesitate to employ him if I was in business
Such a good, knowledgeable young man!
Hope this gets back to the boss, 6pm Wednesday 7th, seacombe heights. Aaron came out to get my 4wd Triton going, I cant thank this guy enough, he was so knowledgeable, obviously loves his job and got the car going. Cheers mate, your a ledgend!!!!!
Absolute life saver.
Car broke down in Alice Springs on a trip. All I can say is the RAA made this horrid experience far better. Getting a premium membership is well worth the cost! My car was sent back to Adelaide, 2 nights accommodation covered and basically everything I needed was covered. Everyone has been an absolute pleasure to deal with and helpful. While my trip was ruined, the RAA came to the rescue.
Do not use RAA
If they pay you once can not get back the money. Road side assistance do not come even in one hour at 11 am even with in city area near plympton.
My classic car lost 4 out of 5 wheels nuts while on the road in Strathalbyn today, and the assistance I got from the road service team was incredible. They replaced some studs and got my car onto a tow truck without any damage and transported it safely home to Strathalbyn. Much appreciated and job well done .It pays to have RAA membership they are there to help when you need them
Excellent roadside service
First outing in new-to-me car and battery died on busy road in peak hour. Friendly RAA roadside assistance arrived in 20 mins and got me moving again in no time. Very grateful.
Their $175 battery (now $183) with a 2 year warranty, lasted 2 years, 1 month and 3 days. I gave them a call and asked them if there was any leeway with the warranty and was advised no such luck. A Marshal battery with a 42 month warranty costs $226 .... do the maths. Not happy RAA.

has the R.A.A published revues of the mercedes sprinter - KEA ULTIMA/2012.
Is there another road side assist that really helps you when your stuck in the middle of no where . I had been with raa since 1999 and found that i should have put my money in the bank instead
Tyres best value?
Not sure which is the best...but we bought 4 Supercat tyres for a Hyundai i20 in July 2017...Kilometres was 68849.... today Kilometres is 85467 and still a lot of tread. We make sure (weekly) tyre pressure is at recommended level and have the tyres rotated at every 10000K.
Hi Deb, thanks for your question. Generally we say to members to stick with the well-known or major brands. If you have been happy with the last set of tyres you had on their car in regards to ride, noise, handling and longevity, then go for the same brand/type again, as switching to a cheaper lesser known brand can sometimes be a bit of a gamble. If you'd like to chat to our technical advisory service, they're contactable on 8202 4689. Cheers, Laura
