We were not able to get an electrician on call on the Sunday night we lost power to our house. It was a very big inconvenience for us as we had a house full(10) of people staying for a relatives funeral the next day. No power, no air conditioning, ect. I was offered a $150 rebate which I have not received yet. not happy. Show details

Excellent Electrician Chris H for RACV – Due to pelting rain and thunderstorms I had to call Emergency home assist. CHRIS ( Electrician) arrived and showed him the video of pelting rain through the power point.He is so good and recommended a plumber to check the roof.He said once the power points are dry he will come back to install the LED lights CHRISH is an asset to RACV.I would recommend CHRIS to my family and friends

as they were cooking dinner. Also my sister and I are elderly and lighting is a safety necessesity. My guests had to go out for dinner as a result. I was asked by the call centre if we could wait till morning, but I had been down that road twice previously and said that as I had guests and also my old whippet who had just come out of hospital from surgery and needed to be kept warm as she couldn't wear a coat due to the location of the stitches, I would prefer if they could keep trying. Which they did and Ryan was dispatched and came within half an hour of the call centre finding him. All in all it was about 2 and an half hours approx. The problem was identified and reset but not able to discover why it happened at the time. We got through the night with access to grid electricity until morning.

Absolute Rip off – Don't trust RACV and their Trade partner firms as they are absolute rip offs. I was charged $977 for the part which you can buy for only $235. didn't know how to fix it and said he would arrange someone else to come and do a service for $89. I agreed and "Nibby's Plumbing Services" came to my home. This firm is a complete rip off. After 5 minutes they showed me a part which he said was for $977. I said I wanted a second quote so just do the service. He then said they could not do the service as heating system is not working and I still have to pay the fees!!! I told everything from the first call that my heating system was not working so why did they come to my house? I then thought I had to pay $89 for nothing so went ahead. They never provided me any document or quote for the work. After just 10 minutes they were done and had my credit card to pay the amount. He never informed me that I had 7 days to pay the invoice, which clearly says on the invoice I later received from RACV. They did not even wear masks when they entered the property. I called RACV multiple times and spoke to multiple people but it is clear that for RACV, their trade partners are way more important then their customers. Terrible experience.

Efficient Friendly Service – The power line connecting to our house had been pulled away from the fascia boards in heavy winds. It was still connected and hanging dangerously low. Matt the electrician came within 45 minutes. He said it was a job for the power company and explained they would need to come and disconnect the power overnight then we would need a carpenter… Read more ·  1

have to repair the fascia board then get an electrician to ensure the connection point was safe then get the power company back to reconnect the power. This all sounded a bit daunting but he made all the calls for us and arranged for a carpenter to come back early next morning, then came back to install a new power box and make sure everything was safe then called the power company to come back to reconnect. He kept us well informed at all times and gave an accurate estimate of the costs involved. He was on night shift till after 11pm but was back at our place by 11 the next day to sort everything out. Thanks Matt for your brilliant customer service.

The control panel for my Hydronic Heating wasn't working. I believed the problem to be exhausted batteries but I had no idea how to get the panel off the wall, which kind of batteries to use and how to insert them. Jonah, your excellent tradie, didn't know either. But he quickly worked out how to do it, and fortunately I had the correct batteries… Read more ·  1

on hand (two AA ones) and he put them in for me. He also gave me clear instructions on how to do it myself for which I am very grateful. (My only complaint is that it was a two hour wait for Jonah to arrive. This was not his fault. Perhaps you need to have more staff on the go?)

It is the first time I have used the services . Aaron the electrician was excellent when he arrived, very helpful and pleasant young man . Unfortunately I asked for the service at 10 am and was told someone would be to me in 3 hours , this was then delayed until 4 pm and after phoning the Emergency service 3 times Aaron arrived at 7 pm . I am aware that this is a very busy time of the year and delays are probably inevitable

Lights kept tripping. RACV Trade electrician came out and literally says “I don’t have time to identify the fault”. Turns power back on and leaves. I could’ve done that for $0. What a complete waste of time and effort. Reading from the reviews, it really depends who rocks up to your door that will determine the level of trade you get. Show details

said we needed a new complete unit. He didn't have one and said he couldn't wait for me to get one from bunnings. Not only that but we would have to pay full price for him to come back and fit. Also we have to pay for electrical safety certificate which we weren't told about .

Just as well we haven't paid for the racv emergency service and certainly never will following this pathetic experience

I would expect a full refund for the two properties I have covered for the past few years. Soon got a call back promising an electrician. Haven’t heard from the electrician yet, 12 hours now, not 1 as advertised. Will be taking this complaint further and suggest others considering this product save their money.

Didn’t fix our power issue – Our power has gone off multiple times (at least 6 times) throughout the day, we flick the fuse back on & it works ok for a short time & them goes off again. $394 for a call out & 1 year membership. Tradie Cameron W arrived and tested a few power points & power boards and said everything appears to be working now & left. The power has gone out 3 times since he left. Thanks for nothing!

Useless – Have a power outage at my house, RACV says "Nah can't send anyone today, keep receipts." Ring someone myself, they can come in a few hours. "Emergency Home Assist" is not what they're offering at all, complete scam.

Highly Recommended. Ben from RACV Home Assist Electricians was great! – After a call to RACV to determine if I was covered for the call out the process was smooth. I live in Bentleigh East and I got help within the hour! Ben the electrician who came round was fantastic. He was professional, patient, quick and really helpful, also a genuinely nice guy. Terrific help and quick response on a public holiday – First time user of Emergency Home Assist. A loss of power to some of the house circuitry. Turned out to be a faulty RCD. O'Brien Electrical attended quickly and performed swift and effective repairs. At 9.30pm I rang RACV Emergency Home Assist, and by 10pm an electrician named Brad arrived at my home. explaining what he was doing and offering me advice for the way I should manage my appliances in future. Eventually he found the source of my problem and resolved the issue, so that by 10.30pm my power was back on and all my appliances were working properly again. Brad was friendly and helpful and informative. I couldn't have asked for better service. Highly recommended.
