I had an outside sliding door not sliding, jammed. Shaun came and fixed the problem and then Glenn came to line up the lock. Very happy with the Home Assist service.

The feeling you get when you shut the door, then realise that your keys are on the other side of that locked door. Luckily my phone was in my pocket, and a quick call to RACV Assist, explained my situation to the call centre operator and less than an hour later I was back inside my house. My late husband Gold Membership over 30 years and my 6 years Membership 7512931 are Total waste of money. Recently, a Locksmith ( CASEY Locksmith ) left unfinished and unsafely work for rekeying the lock - take the lock apart and replace the internal pin and arrange 4 new keys. I became to distrust RACV Home Assist for their handling my complaints.

Not worth it if you live in the country – Called RACV Assist because my roller door had blown in from the track during a recent storm. They rang 1 1/2 hours later to say they did not operate in my area. I rang again and was told that they had no contractors in my town. I asked if they would pay if I rang a local garage door company and was told no. Can fix a leaky tap but not our only means to leave our house in an emergency. Show details

Very unethical!! – I called RACV home assist today to get assistance with fixing front door lock of the property I bought last month. owner pays for the product again. Simply put RACV has taken money for a service that they are not going to provide just because the property has changed owners. Absolutely pathetic! I explained the situation multiple times to both consultants and requested that all they need to do is change owner details at their end given the services have already been paid for/active but, I was asked to pay another $400 to get emergency home assist in spite of RACV having charged a similar amount to the previous owner for the same service. I would not recommend this company to anyone given how unethical this is.

RACV answered my call quickly and understood my requirement. I immediately received a Text message confirming what would happen next. Tradesman arrived with the hour. Locked out of my house & apparently RACV Home Emergency Assist too! – Accidentally locked myself out of my house: I had access to my garage but nothing else; my two dogs, my phone, my shoes etc were locked inside and the lights and tv were running. After 45 minutes I received a call from RACV apologising profusely and advising that the locksmith was ‘uncontactable’. By this time I was very cold and very anxious and not sure what to do: RACV said they couldn’t get in touch with another locksmith because of the existing contract with the uncontactable’ locksmith, however they offered to transfer me to the SES(which they did but SES couldn’t help me). I haven’t heard from RACV since: no safety check, no verifying that I was back inside my home…nothing. For all RACV Emergency Assist knew, I could still be stuck outside in the freezing cold. Fortunately for me, my son in law drove in from his farm (40 mins away) then climbed into my house via the manhole in the roof…why couldn’t the RACV have organised a tradie to do that for me? Sadly, I will be canceling this policy (& possibly my other 3 policies)as it’s turned out to be utterly worthless to me. Very disappointed and disillusioned.

Easy to get serivce – Called RACV late at night as i was locked out. they got someone to my place within 24minutes. Opened the door really quickly and it cost me less then a afterhours locksmith. Talk about winning!! Show reply

Quick, efficient, professional – For some odd reason, my front door key became stuck in the lock. Despite great efforts in my part to remove it, it was stuck hard and fast. I decided to call RACV Home Maintenance and once through to an operator things happened very quickly. Within the space of an hour, the locksmith arrived, removed the stick key, identified the issue and fixed it!!! The key is now working perfectly once again. on the side i only had a home insurance with them but didn't subscribe to the Home Assist service. Still they went outside the box and sent some one straight away to help me.

Terrible service – We moved to a regional town a few months ago from Melbourne. We locked ourselves out of the house (on a Sunday) as the previous owner left a bunch of keys which we had trouble working out what belonged to what door. We had only been in the house a few days. We tried calling locksmiths in town, but even a so called 24 hour service didn't answer. As we don't have a car, we waited in the garage which we accessed from the side gate. We finally called RACV Home Assist. We were not members and had to pay a huge fee for their service. They said they would contact a locksmith. Nobody turned up and we contacted RACV numerous times over a number of hours, as they didn't keep in touch with us. In the end on the final call to them, they admitted the locksmith they were trying to call was the same one we had tried to call! We had been outside at this stage for over 5 hours in the cold. So we were alone in a town where we knew nobody. We were going to break a window to get in but the windows were all safety glass. In the end we had to use an electric saw (which we had in the garage) to break through the front door. Finally we were inside. We then had to have the front door replaced as it was badly damaged of course. We had to ask for a refund from RACV and cancel the Home Assist which they did but it took ages. Even though we had paid by credit card, they eventually sent a cheque which we then had to deposit and wait for clearance. So in the end, they were less than useless. There was no empathy with these people and we advise against using them.

Not a good result – We had a call out due to a substantial gas leak from our gas bottle. The EHA plumber arrived and said he has crimped the hose and it should hold for a couple of days while he prepares his quote to fix it properly. By coincidence the gas company came that night to refill the bottle and said it’s really leaking, still filled it but turned it off. … Read more

We now had to keep it turned off and if we wanted hot water for dishes, showers or to cook on the stove we had to walk down to the front of the property and turn the bottle on, then turn it off again when we finish.

What was the point of ringing EHA.

We should have just rung our own plumber, log a call-out, who would have fixed it straight away which we did the next day. He went and bought the parts required, replaced and repaired.

Note: Never ever got the quote from the EHA plumber
