Overall sentiment for Rail Ninja is highly polarised. Positive feedback focuses on an intuitive, user-friendly booking interface and the convenience of a centralised English-language platform for international rail travel. Conversely, a significant volume of negative reviews flags substantial price markups and poor transparency regarding third-party service fees.

Rail Ninja offers a highly convenient and accessible booking interface for international travellers, but this convenience comes at a significant financial premium. While the platform excels at simplifying the user experience, travellers should be prepared for substantial service fees and should verify official rail prices before committing to a purchase.
Avoid Rail Ninja. Untrustworthy, sneaky. Book directly with the train operator instead. Our experience with Rail Ninja was extremely disappointing, expensive and frustrating. We booked two train tickets through Rail Ninja believing we were purchasing legitimate rail tickets at a reasonable price. We paid A$598 (€367) for our booking. When the… Read more
tickets were eventually issued, the official carrier tickets showed a value of only €39 per passenger (€78 total). This left an unexplained difference of approximately €289 (A$471) between the value of the carrier tickets and what we paid.
We contacted Rail Ninja multiple times requesting an itemised breakdown explaining exactly how the total price was calculated. We were repeatedly told that the pricing breakdown had been displayed during the booking process and that it explained the difference. However, our booking confirmation and invoice show only a single total amount of A$598. They do not itemise the underlying ticket fare, service fees, processing fees, taxes or any other charges.
During our correspondence, Rail Ninja provided a generic example from a completely different booking showing a service fee of only around 11% above the underlying ticket price. However, applying that same logic does not explain the enormous difference between the €78 value of our carrier tickets and the €367 we paid. Despite repeated requests, Rail Ninja has refused to provide the equivalent itemised breakdown for our booking, leaving approximately €289 (A$471) unexplained.
Our concern is not simply that Rail Ninja charges more than the train operator. Our concern is the lack of transparency. If there is a substantial premium, customers should be able to clearly see the underlying ticket price and every fee before deciding whether to proceed. That was not our experience.
If you are travelling in Europe, save yourself the money and the frustration. Book directly with the train operator (such as SNCF, Trenitalia, Deutsche Bahn or the relevant national rail operator) or through an official retailer. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying for and avoid paying a substantial premium without a clear explanation.
Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Rail Ninja. We are continuing to pursue this matter with our card issuer and the relevant consumer protection authorities, and we will update this review if Rail Ninja provides the transparency and resolution that has so far been lacking.
Booking train tickets from Seoul to Busan and then return in April. Thought when picking Seoul as departure and return it would be Seoul Station. Found out the hard way after choosing and paying for return tickets there is a Seoul Suseo Station which is nowhere near Seoul Station. As a foreigner, there is no easy way to get there either with… Read more
luggage so have to say that is something to look out for when you are booking. Have contacted the company about changing the tickets as they are not released until March. Have received a reply from a nice guy from the Ticket Reservations Support Team saying he has submitted a modification request. I am happy to say that they were able to change my tickets to go to Seoul Station instead. We had a perfect trip with both train rides and I can say the staff at Rail Ninja went above and beyond to help us out. I can highly recommend them.
Happy to take money for a ticket they can't provide, waiting on the refund. Stay away - use Trainline or go direct to the national rail company. Most have easy to use apps.

Seamless booking process online. Clear information and easy to understand. Only issue was the information on the app had an error which was quickly clarified by the online customer care officer when the issue was brought up. Changes had to be made to the initial bookings due to availability of seats however, it was easy to make changes/accept… Read more · 1
offer of changes. On the day, seats were perfectly comfortable and we had no other issues with the booking.
SCAMMMMM – This is a SCAM! Rail Ninja is a RIP OFF!! I placed my order from Seoul to Pyeongchang through them on January 7th, and it's still showing as 'processing' after two days, which seems unusual. I contacted customer service on January 9th to inquire about my booking status. They informed me that it's still being processed because sales haven't opened… Read more
yet. However, I checked the KTX official website, and sales are already open and sold out! This indicates that they haven't processed my order and were unaware that sales had begun.
This is UNACCEPTABLE! I’ve wasted both time and money waiting for them to process my order, and now I can't get my ticket.
To make matters worse, they offered me a ticket a day after my original order! When I requested a full refund, including the ticket and service fees (which I never received), they could only offer 80% of the refund. Their service fees are unreasonable, and the prices are doubled!
Not trustworthy – Booked tickets all seemed fine, it said i would be assigned a cabin later. I received 4 emails from their exact email "info@rail.ninja" which when googled IS their account telling me my ticket is cancelled. I tried to reach out for confirmation - nil response. Kept receiving it. Given it's Rovaniemi to Helsinki and a busy time of year, I didn't… Read more
click the link but went into manage my booking and cancelled. But naturally lose $65 to cancel a booking that isn't safe. Look on another website and I can choose my own cabin already! Rail Ninja claimed they aren't released until later. Don't use, don't trust them, scammers or having scammers using them and don't care.
Rail Ninja - great disappointment – I bought a train ticket to Oslo - Stockholm journey for December 2, 2023. The train company cancelled the train, I had to buy a bus ticket to get to Stockholm. I contacted the Rail Ninja support team immediately with refund request and again several times, last answer from them I received on 7.4.2024: "We would like to extend our sincere apologies… Read more

We thought the train would be a high speed train but was not. Total Chaos getting on train with people sitting in our seats and nowhere to store our bags Very uncomfortable. Show details
Follow-up · Our 5 subsequent train trips were much better now that we knew what to expect. On one trip we thought we had boarded the wrong train, at a stop the crew helped us by explaining that yes we were travelling in the wrong direction but would soon make a loop and be at our destination

I used Rail Ninja to book train tickets in South Korea and wanted to share a balanced experience. They do offer a convenient English-language booking platform, which can be helpful for international travellers who may find it difficult to navigate local rail websites. However, it’s important to be aware that Rail Ninja is a third-party service,… Read more
and their ticket prices are significantly higher than booking directly. In my case, the cost was almost double compared to booking through Korail.
Refunds are also not always fully refundable, as service fees may apply. This wasn’t entirely clear to me at the time of booking, so I would recommend reviewing their terms carefully before purchasing.
That said, I had a positive experience with their customer support. Once I raised my concerns, their team was responsive and helpful, and they worked with me to resolve the issue, ultimately providing a full refund.
Overall, while the platform is convenient, I would personally choose to book directly in future to avoid the higher costs — but their customer service was professional and supportive when it came to resolving the situation.
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback!
I booked train tickets in Portugal and have tried to contact three times via different emails and have not received a response. Good at taking the booking, but poor at customer service.
This is a third party ticket vendor. They will easily charge close to double the ticket price of the authorized ticket seller. When you discover this and want to cancel it's almost impossible to do. When you click on cancel your ticket they say they will send you a four digit code but by the time you get the code it has expired. The contact us… Read more
button on their website goes nowhere. The email address on the website is invalid. After 2 days of attempting, I finally was able to get a four digit code that did not expire and was able to cancel my tickets and rebook through the actual seller for half the price. Despite buying the flexible ticket on their website, which was fully refundable or so they said, they kept 10% of the cost of the ticket when they finally did the refund. Be careful when you use this or any other ticket resellers and stay away from them. Go directly to the approved website. I bought tickets for Portugal trains and the website to use for that is cp.pt - Comboios de Portugal. Not only will you pay half the price but you can book your seats immediately much like an airplane, This is not possible on the rail ninja site. They ask you where you want to sit and a day later they send you tickets. In my case the seats were not as I requested.

So bad. They advertise as being “real time timetable” then 24 hours later advise the tickets are not available. So I had to move things around and then they did the same thing again!! They absolutely should not be putting up tickets on their website that aren’t available. Then I got stuck chatting to a bot instead of a real human and it kept saying the same thing. Hopeless.
Better off booking direct with the actual rail company of the Country you are in. Got charged A$30 extra on each ticket just for the "pleasure" of booking through this company...plus international transaction fees. This was not stated on their website. Feel completely ripped off at paying $75 for a $43 train ride Show details
We booked online from New Zealand on 19 March 2026 for rail tickets from Brisbane to Sydney on 29 October 2026. We have received a receipt for payment but have at this time not received the tickets. We are at the stage of questioning is this a scam as at least an indication of when the the tickets would be issued would be appreciated

Generally I have found Rail Ninja to be really great. And I’ve used them hire a bit. go through the process to create a total cancellation and refund. Disappointing. Not the first time I’ve struck payment / operational issues, but the first time it represented a bigger impact to travel arrangements. A surprising impact as it wasn’t due to unavailability etc. I will still use Rail Ninja and under different circumstances would have given them a high rating and recommendation. Just proves something can always go wrong with even the best of organisations!
We tried to book a train ticket through rail ninja. They took our money and then emailed saying there were no train tickets available. I now have to wait 14 days to get a refund of almost $600. Don’t recommend
Booked tickets on LNER. Tickets not issued, appears that rail works are happening that weekend. Refund not possible until the rail cancels the services for the weekend.
I booked my tickets from Seoul to Gyeongju and a return ticket from Busan to Seoul. I didn't have any issues. Because I booked in advance I have to wait to get the actual ticket. So far so good. I booked in Australia and I found easy to navigate Show details · 1
I was very disappointed with my experience. I had to cancel my tickets, 6 months before the user date. I did not receive a full refund, even though Railninja had not even purchased the tickets from the provider. I lost more than $100 for no reason. Show details
Follow-up · They haven’t bothered to contact me at all. Not sure of the service fee, but $100 seems a lot to lose. They advertised full refund.
And it very easy and efficient to book tickets even in advance bookings , you can choose between economy class and first class seats and sleepers , thank you for your great service. Show reply
Well booking was easy, but due to my error I used the wrong date, just one day. Getting a change was not easy as the fare I selected did not allow for changes, but the chat bot put me through to the support team who made the modification - but for a large fee which I think is excessive Show details
Rail Ninja failed to advise me there was a change to my trip , apparently NSW transport replaced the train with a bus on the first leg of my journey from Brisbane to Sydney and instead of catching the train leaving Roma St Station in Brisbane Satx20 Dec 2025 at 5.00am, a bus leaving at 4.00am was put on due to rail lines closed in Brisbane. never received ANY type of notification. I arrived at the station at 4.10am, enough time to catch the train ....however as I was NOT made aware of the chance in transport and leaving time, the replacement bus had already left. I had to book a plane journey that day, to be able to meet with my plans for my holiday in Sydney. I advised Rail Ninja of this in January after getting back home, and seeked a full refund due to never being advised of the change in time of journey. I am still waiting on the refund, and am very disappointed in the service I have received to date. Rail Ninja took my money and failed to supply the service as booked.
