Did it’s job very fast and caught multiple mice – Worked amazing caught more mice then we knew we had definitely recommend!
Mouse crusher – Like many with negative experiences with this poorly designed product, I have had well over 50% of mice caught in these traps with their head protruding from the hole in the killing jaw and being crushed at the hips, like the individual in the attached photo. I contacted Yates about this and was told "We've never heard of this happening ever… Read more
before". This is patent nonsense, these products are tested before marketing so they would KNOW beforehand that it was a cruelly inefficient design.
They offered me a free mouse trap as "compensation", I accepted, but it didn't arrive.
I then received an email telling me they couldn't send me one because they didn't have any.
Ok, fair enough, a lot of mice out there. They offered me a $10 voucher for buying a new trap from Bunnings, I agreed to that.
That was a month ago, still no voucher either.
Bottom line is Yates are aware that this product maims more than it kills, leaving the user to give the unfortunate rodent a coup de gras, they just don't care.
I won't be using any more brands carried by this company.
Horrific and cruel, mouse alive with trap on head – This product is horrific. We put one out, and the next morning I found the mouse with its head clamped in the trap, very much still alive and running around the trap around it’s head, scared to death and probably in agony. I had to put the mouse out of its misery myself which was nothing short of traumatising. Show details
The only mouse traps I buy – I love reviewing products that I think are great, and this is my favourite mouse trap by far. These are the only mouse traps I have bought since discovering them a few of years ago. They're very affordable ($9 for a two-pack at Woolies), easy to set up, mess-free, and even come pre-baited. Because they typically kill instantly, mechanical traps… Read more · 2
are more humane than poisons, since poisoned rodents will scuttle away, die in agony and rot somewhere where the stench may be noticeable and yet their bodies may be difficult to locate and remove. In addition, mechanical traps present no poisoning risk to your pets. Admittedly, on occasion a mechanical trap may not catch a mouse squarely, and their death may be somewhat prolonged, but still nothing like being poisoned.
Cocking these Ratsak devices is easy and safe; quite unlike say, the old-fashioned, wire spring-traps. Because you work these centre-levered traps opposite the jaws, there's no chance of snapping your fingers; unless you're being really careless. Just take your time and you'll be fine. I used similar but smaller and cheaper plastic and spring traps before finding the Ratsaks, and while those worked okay, they had hair-trigger latches that made them difficult to cock and place without setting them off; but that problem worsened when reusing them, and soon enough they became impossible to cock so I had to throw them out. Not so the Ratsaks: they are robust and unaffected by multiple uses. Should they not cock readily by depressing the main lever, simply push your finger through the hole on the main lever to depress the latch tongue to lock it up. Easy-peasy. I have one, sometimes two of these Ratsak traps set at all times under our kitchen sink, behind the bin, as the food scraps in the bin draws mice to that area, as does the warmth and shelter. We live in a semi-rural area and now that we're getting the first of the colder winter weather (late May, 2022), I've trapped several mice in just the last few days, after only trapping one here and there through all of spring, summer and autumn.
Thankfully, with these Ratsack traps, disposing of dead mice is easy and clean as the mechanism is released and resprung at the opposite end to the nasty, business-end of the traps: just release the mechanism over a rubbish bin and the little blighters fall out. Should the mice manage to eat up the bait, you can reload the receptacle with a bit of peanut butter (on the end of some paper towelling or better; with a small, disposable utensil, like one of those otherwise useless, tiny wooden KFC spoons). If you're squeamish or a trap gets manky (like if you forget to check a trap and find a decomposing carcass lodged in one) just throw the whole lot out – the leftover smell and hair on a dirty trap would put off other mice, anyway – and replace the trap for cheap! What more could you want in a mouse trap?! And finally, I should mention that when these traps catch mice squarely in the pocket, they present you with a macabre "trophy" that Dr. Phibes would be proud of, with the mouse's head poking through a window hole in the trapping lever! I should also mention that these traps are not available at Coles, oddly enough: I buy mine at Woolworths. And one last thing: this same, clever design is available double-sized, for trapping rats, in a $9.50 single-pack from Woolies.
impossible to set trap off – It was a waste of money, they won't go off - even my dogs standing on it will not set the trap off. I have been feeding the mice with it. Show details
Excellent traps – I tried a few traps with no success, but this trap caught two mice in one day! So happy, no regrets buying these traps. Would recommend to anyone with mice in their house.
Does Exactly What It Supposed to do! – I bought this and a cheaper version - this caught 2 mice in the first night, the other cheap one the mice just ate the bait. Again on second night the traps both caught 2 more! The trap didn't let the mice touch the bait before trapping them! Im wrapped its doing what i need it to. I did not want to kill the mice but this was my last option as its getting out of hand! I off to the shops to get 2 more pairs! Show details
Actually amazing – We saw a mouse run through the place at around 1030pm at night. I had a meltdown and sent husband to closest woolies still open late to get any mouse trap he could find - when he got home we set several of these up, went upstairs, very skeptical at whether it will do the job. After lying in bed and reading 3 or 4 of these reviews on this website… Read more
we heard the resounding SNAPPP sound resonate through the house. We ran downstairs and lo and behold the mouse was caught dead in the trap. I would say almost 20 mins after set up and us retiring it caught it. We were both in shock and awe at the efficiency. Would buy again and definitely have kept some spares on standby just incase!
This worked so far 100% – I read the reviews and wasn’t sure after hearing people say the mice weren’t dead in the traps .. it sounded pretty cruel.. which is why I’m writing my own review.. I had bought a metal humane catch and release one first which sadly didn’t work for us at all for the past week, and after being kept awake by scurrying in the wall and then seeing… Read more
one fall down from climbing behind my bird cage and run across the floor I realised they just had to go .. so I bought two brands of traps - from a supermarket, same style - which is all I can find in the shops at the moment.. bunnings are always sold out!! . My partner set a few up last night, the ratsak ones inside and the others in the shed.. and less than an hour later we heard the first snap inside… He told me the mouse was definitely dead in the trap and then this morning there were 2 more including a pretty big fat one - inside, both dead.. I’m relieved it works properly and quickly - even for a biggie, and he also said you don’t have to touch the mouse to dispose of it.. will see what happens tonight when they get set up again ..
Love it – I got 2 packs and omg with in 1 hour I got 2 mice one out the back on the self where we keep the dog food and one in the kitchen under the sink. Rest them both few hours later got another mice. Will be getting this again. I have one question how many times can u use it before the bait is no good? Show details
Super simple and caught in under an hour! – Wow - you guys saved my marriage! My wife saw a small brown mouse run along the skirting of my house tonight at around 10pm. Pulled the sofa out and couldn’t see it. She was distraught and couldn’t sleep - shoved towels under my sons bedroom door. It was manic. I went over to woolies, picked up a 2 pack of you prebaited mouse traps - setup both of… Read more
them around the lounge room behind the sofa. We went to bed…. Honestly around 45 mins later SNAP echoed through the house. I shot up, with my iPhone flashlight and to my complete surprise and joy found myself a nice squashed brown mouse! Wife was disgusted and even more angry when I showed the dead mouse to her - but wow. What a relief. Thanks for this amazing product and how quickly it did the job. Thanks so much! Would be more than glad to leave you guys positive feedback / reviews online. Thank you!!
Cruel, doesn't kill – Checked the traps in the morning after 4 days of no luck. Mouse was still alive, breathing fast, and in agony, squeaking loudly. It was very unpleasant. Had to finish the guy off myself, but that's what I bought the trap for. Show details
Killed those mice right up! – Bought it and it had been down for just over an hour and BAMM!! Killed one of the little . Also did enjoy not having to touch the dead mouse. Show details

Best Mouse Traps Yet – I bought a pack of Ratsak mouse traps and a pack of a cheaper brand mouse traps and the Ratsak Mouse Traps work the best. The only problem I had was they didn't seem to be attracted to the bait, so instead I added a tiny bit of peanut butter where the bait was in the trap with an ice cream stick and it worked wonders. These traps are far more… Read more
sensitive than other traps and kill mice instantly. I would highly recommend buying these traps instead of the cheaper traps, I'm yet to catch any mouse in the cheaper traps. Ratsak Mouse Traps are worth every cent and easy to set up and even easier to dispose of the caught mouse.
Fantastic! – We're in northern NSW in a mouse plague. Saw a neighbour had these so thought I'd try them. Bought two to use alongside three different types of traditional traps. These are catching mice when the others aren't. Easy to set up & easy to empty. Have had no problem with the mice not being dead like some others have claimed. That has only happened… Read more
on the older traditional ones we have. Going to buy another dozen when we go into town again this week! Didn't think you could reinvent the mouse trap, but there you go
Black plastic. Latching mechanism not durable – Very effective jaws but flimsy latching mechanism. Broke after catching one mouse. Purchased two and both have faulty latching after first days use. Also used the similar product with red handle which is more reliable. Do not buy the black plastic ones Show details
Ratsak Mouse Traps - Can’t fault – Western NSW with a mouse plague. Purchased 6 of these traps. Over the last fortnight 100% success. No escapees, no mice kicking. 3 or 4 mice without renewing the bait. Show details
Best mouse traps I have ever brought – My parents live in rural NSW and they are having a mouse plague problem. My parents have a variety of traps set but I can honestly say that these were the only traps that were trapping the mice and killing them. They were averaging between 5-6 mice been caught a night in them. I can't speak highly enough about these traps they are awesome. Show details
Caught mouse but didn't kill it – I set two traps, they both caught a mouse. In the first trap the mouse was dead. In the second trap I found that the mouse was still alive, with its head trapped in the jaws. It was trying to move around dragging the trap with it. I had to kill the mouse with a shovel, it was pretty distressing actually. Pros: Very easy to set the trap without… Read more
snapping on fingers
Cons: doesn't kill the mouse reliably, unnecessarily cruel.
I'll be looking for a different brand with similar design but perhaps stronger spring or "teeth" on both jaws not just the upper jaw.
Doesn't even work!! Rats or mice just keep getting out of the traps and bait is eaten – Easy to set up but doesn't work Waste of money Rats or mice just eat the bait after setting the trap Not strong enough to kill on impact Basically feeding and fattening the mice and rats not killing them Show details
Very good caught 14 mice one trap – The pre baited trap I brought from Woolworths really worked I caught 4 in one day and rest just kept coming it was really good I kept it near my oven only $8 excellent value sets easy Show details
Doesn't work – Trap doesn't work. Trap keeps going off within one second off being set. Not sure it would kill the rat anyway - does not seem that strong. Agree, some of the other posts sound fake. Show details

Do not buy – Trap fails to set. Being plastic it doesn't last. Just use the old wood and metal ones. You get 1 use out of it before it is no longer usable. Recommend you not buy. Show details
Non poisonous and very effective – After hurting my finger for 3-4 time with different trap, I did not expect much from the product. I was surprised and impressed to the result in an hour time. Set us very easy and I would highly recommend it. Show details
Omg caught a mouse almost immediately! – Caught a mouse within 30mins! I wasn’t even sure I put the trap in a good location as I can hear noise in the roof space which I don’t want to go into (husband is away). I placed under the stairs which is a cupboard off the WC & heard the trap go off. So easy to set it as well! Show details
Very impressive product – Don’t have much mouse trap experience but these worked first time with no fuss. So impressed this product deserved a review. Easy to setup, and the use of a mouse attractant is a brilliant idea, vs having to bait the trap yourself. Show details
Does not work as advertised – If you want to trap a mouse, have it suffer, and then put it out of misery yourself then this product is for you. Of note: positive reviews trace confirmed as coming from ratsac marketing accounts. Show details
Load of rubbish don't buy – The max strength rat trap is rubbish caught one rat and the plastic tab at the back broke rendering trap useless. Paid $7.50 to catch one rat they say REUSABLE and STURDY great sales pitch but false advertising. Neighbors have chickens so I've caught 15 rats if I use these traps would've cost me $112. Not a bargain.
Only mouse trap that worked - Buy this first – I read the review here after pulling out a few older traps and when the mouse took the bait but didn't trip the trap that's when I knew I needed something different. So within 24hrs of setting this under the sink, I've had 3 in the one trap. I have all the other older ones around under there too but after putting only 1 of the 2 out to test,… Read more
bang bang bang. Its easy set and easy open to drop out the dead mouse. I think the design means that the mouse needs to get its head right in to get to the bait and the pressure plate combination does the trick. I now want more to see where else in the roof etc these little mice might be.
Best bar none – I purchased the pre baited mouse trap. Had signs of mice under the kitchen sink, so early afternoon i sat them up, which being pre baited means just pushing the spring back. In half hour i had two mice. None since in the following 12 hours. But fingers crossed
Great all around performer – I was hit with a Wimmera mouse pre plague. I had mice everywhere, found a couple of packets of the old style wooden traps and had them set everywhere and by the time I had baited them it was time to rebait them, not reset them. They were useless. I went shopping and bought 4 different types of trap (plus another 2 types later) which I will review… Read more

The Ratsak Mouse trap was one of the late additions to the test and is an excellent trap. It claims to be easy to set, easy to bait and no touch disposal and it lives up to these claims except that certainly not difficult to bait it is a little fiddly. It is easy if you are using a cheese bait cut to the exactly right size (to fit firmly in the holder so you don’t need to rebait every time) but peanut butter is fiddly. The traps I have set have caught a lot of mice in a short period of time which is what I was aiming to achieve.
