My car was out for a week for a major repair. Last thing I could afford was expensive car hire. Rent a bomb saved the day with great value for money. Cars are old but clean and very well maintained (Gold coast location had their own garage on site) Show details

Rented a car for over 6 months. The wagon had done over 580,000km. ( very old Toyota Corolla wagon) Cost me over $6,000. I returned the car in a cleaner condition than I received it as I believe it’s the right thing to do- even steam cleaned the seats and carpet. I needed to rent it again yesterday which is 3 weeks after I returned it and was… Read more

Excellent Cars, Service & Price – I have rented two cars from John and his team in Mickleham, Melbourne and I have found their cars of great quality (not as the name suggests) no bombs here. In fact the cars have exceeded my expectations. The team is so helpful, efficient and friendly especially helpful with the airport transfers and fast dealing with paperwork and refund of bond.… Read more

I really like supporting a local biz instead of big companies and John delivers far more personal service, even on a public holiday. I highly recommend this company. Anita 27.9.24

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! – It’s all in the name. Pathetic customer service and crap cars. Stay well away from this company for your own sake. Pay that tiny bit extra elsewhere and you’ll keep your mental health. 1 star - only because I can’t leave blank. Show details

Would definitely hire from Rent A Bomb Hoppers Crossing again – Quick and easy booking process - called Irene on a Friday and picked up an automatic Toyota on Saturday Irene facilitated a change to the manual Toyota the following week (better value for me) and processed the difference in rates immediately Weekly text received every Friday to confirm if the car was to be returned or extended Both cars rented… Read more

Faulty car causes a 3 car, car accident – I rented a car from your Cairns office on Saturday and ended up in a 3 car, car accident on Saturday within a short time frame of renting/using the car. I was driving on the Bruce Highway, going 20-30kms, attempting to slow down for the yellow light, about 10 car lengths back from the car in front of me and the breaks sized/managed to not work… Read more

with my foot on the break to the floor, causing the accident or potentially the tyres.

The incidence report was left in the car, the Cairns staff are advising this is incorrect and they cannot 'conveniently' locate it, however I have 6 witnesses who saw me leaving this incident report in the glovebox upon the car being removed by the tow truck.

I called the Cairns office at the scene, whilst my partner spoke to the other parties involved and my children in hysterics and in excruciating pain whilst pregnant, out of courtesy to explain the situation ASAP. I was told I had 48 hours to pay $2,100 instead of $2,500 as I paid the $400 bond. I was also told the breaks are fine.

I received a call on Monday advising I have 7 days to pay the $2,100 or I will be sued by Rent a Bomb & the other parties involved.

My partner answered a call to my phone yesterday from Rent a Bomb demanding the $2,100 whilst we were in hospital whilst I was having a following up with the muscular damages/check up on baby since the accident as they've worsened (I'm 17+ weeks pregnant.)

I have just now gotten off the phone with a man from Rent a Bomb, assuming Cairns office, advising the breaks are fine but they having them looked at by a mechanic, however I am not to receive the report apparently.

If I'm to pay for any damages, I expect a copy of this report as your company is liable for the damages caused, not me. The car is faulty. Even if the report comes back fine or not, I would like my mechanic friend to look over the car for a second opinion which I will pay for.

I'd also like to mention the only reason I used your service was whilst my car was in the mechanics having a service, I'm homeless due to the floods and a growing family of 6. I do not need the added stress or pressure of a situation that can be resolved in a timely, compassionate, considerable manner given the circumstances.

Great company in Hoppers Crossing: – A family member rented a car from this company in Hoppers Crossing, and our family had the vehicle for 5 days during the Christmas period 2024. Great service from Irene and the bond was refunded to the bank account immediately on returning the car. It was a good vehicle and transported us around very well indeed. received. Wasn't exactly the car we rented (I think that was late being returned), but the one we had was as good as, if not better. Very pleased with this branch of the company. Another relative has used this branch at least twice before and there was never any problem. Happy all round!!

DO NOT BOOK WORH THEM – DISGUSTING! I booked a Ute with them, received confirmation then get told 30 minutes before I pick up that they have nothing and my reservation is only a request. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP. Then the clown from Dandenong says “try calling the Oakleigh branch they may have one” Shame on you. Thanks for screwing up my day. DO NOT BOOK WOTH THEM.

Worse than terrible – The worst company we have ever dealt with. We made a booking, only to be told on arrival that it had been cancelled as they were busy. They offered us a car for triple the original price. Abused customers verbally in front of us. Absolutely horrendous. I had a baby and was left going to a much better and more reputable dealership anyway Show details

Go somewhere else – Rented car from Tullamarine, Manager was rude, no people skills whatsoever, and he refused to address a fault in my vehicle. I know it’s called “rent a bomb”, but the car I had, could do with a bomb dropped on it from a great height, rubbish car ! rubbish service! Show details

Very Poor Customer Service – Online booking system is very fraudulent. Leads you to believe you have booked a vehicle and it is available - but on pickup, it is not available but one "is" at a location 40 minutes away. They stated online booking system is just a request. This covers their "A" so they can hook you in, then send you to another location to pick up a vehicle that… Read more

Great service and good value for money – Our recent hire in Cairns went ahead exactly as promised at the time of booking. The car was old but everything worked just fine - it had obviously been well and regularly serviced. Our deposit was returned within 24 hours and we wouldn't hesitate to use Rent a Bomb again. Thank you team.

Right car for us – Had to rent a car due to ours breaking down. Rang Rent a Bomb Hoppers Crossing and they had the right car at the right price, the lady at the desk was extremely helpful and we received our bond back when we returned the car before we even left the office. No complaints at all and will definitely rent through them should we ever need to again. Show details

Poor customer service – Most unhappy with the customer service and not to mention the safety of the vehicle. I asked for the sales assistant name when I told him I wanted to lodge a case with Consumer Affairs - the guy Raj from Oakleigh said he wasn't obliged to give me his surname (he told me he didn't have one) which obviously infuriated me more. Show details

Went ok, but tardy in returning the bond money – Rented a car from this Company in Cairns. Everything went well, including the bomb. The only issue with them was the time it took to get my bond money back - over 3 weeks from the time I returned the car. This is not illegal, but 2 other car rentals I had straight after this one had the bond money returned in 3 working days. They could do better, no excuses! Show details

Worst customer service – Worst customer service I have ever experienced, told us they had a car available we walked with our two children in the heat to collect the car and the guy working there told us he magically forgot he ever spoke to us even after my husband showed him proof. Don’t go with this company, I never will again – I took a car out. It had both sides of the bumper bar out when I took it. I took photos showing this. When I returned it, the bumper bar was further out as it naturally would be as there was nothing holding it in place. Be very careful when booking a car – We hired a Car through the Gold Coast branch. All cars are bombs, severely damaged and scratched. Hence why they are so cheap. The car drove fine, however they are very sneaky. 1. They took a 400$ bond without even telling us, on top of the price for the hire. Their terms and conditions do say they take a bond but don't mention how much. 2. Check… Read more

everything with the car including the key. We took the car got home fine and went to lock the car, it got jammed a bit and bent. Managed to get the key out but when trying to straighten it the key snapped. 3. They completely said the key was our fault. No room to negotiate. We had a key dropped off via uber. We had to pay for the uber and the new key (which was much better quality). They took this money off our credit card, rather than using the bond. 4. Be prepared for all communication to be via text or email. Overall they are cheaper and the cars are old, so if you are willing to take the risk you can save some money. But in hindsight I'd pay a bit more and go for a different company.

Car failed but experience was handled well by company – Car handed over professionally. As expected a literal bomb, 16 year old Getz. On way back from airport car overheated. Terrible, would give zero stars if possible – I rented a car from Rent a bomb, expecting an older model - I have used similar companies in the past. times, was I ever asked to pay (in case of being involved in a accident) $1750 even if is not your fault no matter what, if don't want that then you can pay an extra $10 a day to have this just halved not cancelled. Ridiculous really! Plus now they ask you all the details of where you work and what is your position Why do they need to know where I work? What that has got to do with renting a car? What if I am from overseas? Just utter nonsense, for crappy old cars that really do almost fall apart. Stay well away from these people, that is my advice

Where is my bond? – I rented from Cairns. The car was smaller than advertised and engine check light was on when I hired it. to get an answer was told "don't know what you are getting at mate. I told you when you hired the car and I'm telling you now, we don't need to write it in a contract".

Use a different company if you can, this one is no cheaper and the cars and service are not crash hot!
