Rinnai energy saver 559ft time temp display is flashing. No code, just Flashing A technician just serviced the unit today, and it's still flashing. He had no idea why, and no suggestions as to what it was indicating. I then rang your technical department on 1300 555 545, and they were no help either. :(

My 309ft energysaver won't go above 19°, it is set at maximum temp of 26°. I recently cleaned the filter and found it was running OK, but now it won't reach the top temperature

Our heater has been emitting an extremely strong odour that has filled our house now for 3 days. Have to open the windows all night otherwise the smell just accumlates, obviously we haven't turned it on at all, even though it is winter now and really cold for the kids, yet it still is giving out this smell.

Have a Rinnai 559ft. 4x6m lounge. Only blows out warm air up to but no more than 1ft from outlet. Only gas appliance in house. This months bill $200. Only use it for an hour in the morning and 2 hours at most in the evening. Absolute rubbish. Energy saver?

Jade

Assuming you cleaned the rear filter… All it can be is starvation of the fan, but unfortunately these heaters are as [Content Removed] ! Not much better than a candle

Adam C.
Adam C.

Lmfao. You must be from Melbourne? Northern suburbs or there abouts. As [Content Removed] is as common a saying in these parts as '[Content Removed].' But yes you are correct and burning candles would probably work out cheaper.

We replaced an old Rennai heater we bought 40 years ago with the 559FT. The old heater, which did not have a fan by the way, performed far better than the new one. Compared to the old heater, the new 559FT is useless because it fails to heat rooms satisfactorily. The area it has to heat with us is 63m2 in Auckland NZ. And it’s no good calling Rennai. They’ve got our money now and don’t really want to engage.

Can this heater be installed in an internal wall with the flue going up the old existing flue that the wall furnace had or being extended to travel through the internal wall and out to the outside wall

Jade
Jade

Do yourself a massive favour and take it back to the shop for a refund before you unbox or think of install it. They are simply too small and run constantly. It will only ever reach 23 degrees on a spring day.

Lorraine, I agree with Jade, we have had a 559ft to supplement our central ducted system on those not so cold days when the use of a full house system is just not economical. From the beginning the 559 was not up to the job. Yes it would heat up eventually, but it could not maintain the selected temperature and was working hard all of the time. This week we had installed the bigger version, the 1005FT. What a difference!! Twice the performance and it is only ticking over we are not game to turn it up full. It rivals the central system for fast heat up and easily maintains temperatures not achievable by the 559. Thank you to the Rinnai tech person who suggested this option. we are very very happy (and warm) We are right at the highest point in the Blue Mountains.

We've had an old Rinnai energysaver heater for 18 years and we are very happy with it. We are upgrading to the 561 ft heater and we are chasing some information on how you can convert the old flu system into the 561ft. At present it is an internal flu that goes between the internal wall cavity. We are hoping that we can use that old flu or even a section of it so as we don't have to break all the plaster for access,. Also we want to keep the cost down.

HI, Our 556 FRT has worked well right up to last week. the display is completely dead. I have changed the wall socket to one that we know is working but to no avail. Is there a fuse that needs to be changed into the power supply? No fan or lights at all.

Hi, My issue is that I am in a remote regional town and so service calls are expensive as there is around 400Km travell associated normally. I'd like to determine whether bringing the heater to the service center or just removing it and replacing with something is a better option commercially. ( I have 4 of appliances in our apartments, one of which is not working) I need to ensure that I am in a serviceable area prior to filling out all the required data in the form.

Shane

Rinnai

Hi Shane, We would not recommend uninstalling the heater as this should only be done with an authorised gas fitter. The service team will be able to confirm for you that there is a technician within your area before a service call is booked.

First heater made a dreadful racket and was replaced. Second heater was installed in 2020. It ran very quiet but we had problems with condensation and mould. During 2021 a plumber discovered the flue was not connected since connecting it the vibration and rattle is back on start up and any time it fires up. Any suggestion as to how we can fix the problem. Thank you.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the question. The Rinnai 559 only had one speed as Terry mentioned above. There is an Economy mode which may assist though. If you would like us to send you an operation manual, please provide your email address via private message and we can send it through

Our heater fan is very noisy almost rattly for first few minutes when turned on. Is this normal?

Terry
Terry

Hi Kirstin. Unfortunately this is normal for the 559FT. It’s a lemon. We have had problems with this unit from day one. After many call outs to their technicians and various parts replaced Rinnai replaced the heater with a new one. Still issues with new one after calls to them again Rinnai would not reply. Have given up and put it down to purchasing at least one lemon in my life time.
