Works well for me so far – I only have been using this machine for a couple of months and it works well for me. Reading the negative reviews about machine made me kind of scared and unsure. Maybe they got a lemon? Buying this machine was not a simple decision and I certainly do not want to to go to repairs and I would imagine it to last. Show details · 1
Looks good, don't expect much else – A small fortune spent on a good looking machine with great features but constantly errored after 6 months (of minimal use) which required the brew group removed / reset into the correct position. I rent my house and other users have not been as gentil as I was and have now forced the brew group in frustration which has damaged the machine. … Read more
Avoid if you like to get your money's worth.
I'm now looking for a new machine as it is not worth the money to try and fix this knowing it was never perfect to start with!
Looks good - would like it to work – I am not a Saeco hater or rubbisher. Hope this helps someone....... My biggest mistake was upgrading from my Saeco royal that was over 10 years old. The machine was absolutely brilliant when I upgraded to a nice clean streamline looking machine. The quality of the old saeco was fantastic with not one problem in over 11,000 cups made. machine has been replaced twice and to repair shop over the last four years and on a weekly basis I get an error e04. And of course all this is happening now there IS NO WARRANTY. I'm constantly pulling out the brew group (using a screwdriver) to get it out of the machine then sticking cardboard into the switch to trick the machine to thinking brew group is still inside to reset it. Google the problem and watch the YouTube video obviously not just me. People who come over laugh and I do too otherwise I will cry then I spent over $2,000 on this piece of #×%&. There is no way I'm going to pour dead money into getting this machine fixed. Better off putting the $ towards a new machine. I knew it was a small machine and I would have to fill the water up more and I'll have to empty the dregs more- accepting all that but the quality is rubbish and very disappointed that I gave away my old Saeco. BEWARE if you are looking at one. Until having this machine I would have absolutely raved about Saeco and how good they are. Now i have posted my first review ever to try and save you and do some homwork on the product.

Great coffee maker and easy to use machine – We have had this unit for about 12 months and it's been great, makes excellent cappuccinos and espressos. It's very easy to use with touch buttons and easily programmable to make custom drink pours/sizes. We use the machine about 5 to 8 times a day, 7 days a week so it has certainly had some heavy duty use and it is still going strong, albeit… Read more · 1
with a couple of small issues but that's understandable.
The brew unit is easy to access for cleaning and although our brew unit jammed once, it was easy to locate online how to reset it again.
Our machine did have a major fault error code but it was under warranty and quickly repaired by our local service agent. Our machine has just now developed a slow leak from the water tank but again, a quick internet search lead us to how to clean small amounts of scale off the water tank's outlet rubber seal and a quick wipe of the rubber seal has stopped the water leak.
All in all, even though we have experienced a few issues this has proven to be a very good coffee maker that's easy to use and maintain.
Regrets, I have a few....Terrible Coffee Machine – Please, never buy this product. While the coffee is good, when the machine is happy to make it, the day to day maintenance is a nightmare with brew cup and water replacement about 2-3 times a day. I purchased the machine a year ago and it has had two trips to the Segafredo workshop in that year (meaning the machine is sitting in a workshop for… Read more
more than a week at a time) and numerous calls to them to help me work out how to fix things like the famous Error 05 message. I have a stash of instant coffee on hand in the pantry which for $2,168 which is what I paid for the Saeco I still can't believe I even have instant coffee on stand-by. The worst part about the machine is the water that drips onto the base it sits on. So if electricals are nearby this is a constant worry...especially considering the machine needs to use power to work. I wish I had read the reviews on the product prior to purchasing a dud. Not even where we purchased it from wanted to know about our troubles as we tried to tell them during the one year warranty period it had some serious issues. This is an extremely high maintenance and sensitive machine which I cannot even bring myself to sell and impart the horror of its demands onto another.

Bought certified refurbished from Seattle Coffee Gear for US$999.00 – Double boilers. Yes! One can do an amazing amount of fine tuning on this machine and once committed to memory, a consistent cup is virtually guaranteed. You can also tailor your drink on the fly for the one off cup. The final product is still dependent on the bean and grind, and I'm addicted to Alto Grande Puerto Rican super premium beans. Set to… Read more · 1
my preferences, and with these beans, this machine will reliably make a drink comparable to our neighborhood barista's handiwork.
The milk frother is adequate, but I prefer a froth hotter than the approximately 120F delivered by this machine. What's more, it doesn't distinguish between the consistency for a latte or a machiatto. It thinks froth is froth. The detachable carafe is a nice touch and will keep in the fridge and it conveniently purges itself after it's made a shot. I customarily fill it with a 50/50 blend of non-fat milk and organic half and half for a thicker and tasty froth.
It's nice that the machine has the steam/hot water wand, because when I'm really particular I can use it in to steam the milk in lieu of the frother. It's also convenient for heating the cup and for preparing the Americano or long black that's not included in the automatic selections.
Scheduled cleaning isn't difficult and it flashes an alert when it needs descaling. The brew group is easy to pull out and wash. The beverage counter is useful when determining when to clean the machine. My biggest gripe is the arbitrary nature of the machine shutting down and issuing an alert to unnecessarily empty the puck and rinse water tray. Also, a larger water tank would certainly be an improvement.
Is this machine worth the suggested retail price? No. Is it worth half that for a refurbished model? Let's see. The advantage is, whatever might have broken in a new machine is now repaired, so it should be completely reliable. But if that's the case, why only a six-month warranty on it? Especially if the original warranty to the original purchaser might still be in effect. Even so, I persuaded myself to drop the coin for it and ante up for the extended warranty. But had I known the manufacture of his model was recently discontinued I would have thought twice. And I must say, I was irritated when SCG commenced a 15% off promotion for all refurbished models six weeks after I received mine.

Happy with my new machine, friends keep commenting on my coffee – I was tired of capsules and decided to buy something more substantial and pay more money to get a quality product. This Saeco machine definitely delivers. I am so happy with the coffee, cleaning is easy, all my friends commented on the taste of coffee. capsules. I agree that this machine is not very cheap but it is an investment worth the money and I am very happy that I made that decision and bought the product.
Perfect Coffee – This is the second Saeco machine that I bought in the past 6 years. The previous lasted 5 years and had no problems with this machine. I love the new improved model though, It is very stylish and looks great on the bench. I like the quality of coffee and I think it is easy to clean, but then again, I am used to cleaning a Saeco and I am prepared for the maintenance that a Saeco requires. Show details · 2
Fantastic – Excellent and easy to use, purchased for our staff room. Taste of coffee is great, staff are happy with how to use the machine. Easy to clean each day and more thoroughly about once a week. Much more economical then pod coffee and better for the environment. We all love it. Show details · 1

dont buy temperature way to low – have had no issues with taste issue is what is approx 150 degrees. They are helpful on phone (descale which I did 2 times) but in the end its a three-year-old machine that sells for over 2000. waste of money- the last unit lasted 10 years Im told they discounted unit in 2015 shortly after my purchase wonder why? Great coffee, questionable quality – First of all, for making coffee this machine couldn't be easier and more convenient! The location of the beans and water are great, they make it very easy to use and the coffee always tastes great! My main concerns however are with the internals of the machine, namely the hinges of the door. The bottom hinge already broke once this year and after having it in service for two (!!!!) months, I was glad to put it all behind us. However, only a few short months later we can already feel the door sag once again and fear that the hinge will once again break soon!
The brew group is also a bit of a pain to remove and put back in after being cleaned (especially putting it back in) but at least it's easy to clean and maintain.
All that said, these hinges are a huge headache and I am worries that soon enough I am going to have to wait another few months for my coffee machine to return to me.
I expected better for a $2000+ coffee maker.

Only trouble – When working, the machine makes an great coffee, but the troubles coming with this machine just don't make it worth all the hustle. For almost $2000 I expected more. Best Coffee Machine Out – After 2 years of having this machine, it hasn't missed a beat! I love the simplicity of use, the amazing quality of even cheap coffee beans, the "frothiness" of the milk from the milk jug, and the ease of cleaning and descaling. Its fast to heat up, and fast to make a coffee. My only complaint is that it asks you to empty the drip tray constantly (I know, its only nit picking, but its all i've got). Show details · 1

The Best – This machine has made us so critical of coffee made by Baristas in cafe's now. It is simple to produce a first class coffee every time regardless of what you drink. We are now using it just for the fantastic froffing ability it has. Simple to clean and it tells you when to fill the water or empty the coffee grind tray, the best investment. Show details · 1
FANTASTIC COFFEE MACHINE! – In all saeco coffee machines I've had the results are always amazing! They are all super easy to use and are built to last! Cleaning can be a bit of a pain but I haven't found a coffee machine that's not. Would highly recommend above all other brands. You can't beat saeco! Show details · 1
Amazing coffee machine – This is my second coffee machine purchase from philips/saeco. I had an earlier Exprelia model which is still working fantastically and being used as a second machine in my office/study. The new one is in my kitchen and I love it. My only feedback is I hoped the newer machine was a little quieter than the old one, but it's just as noisy first thing in the morning!
Good machine once you set it up – Great machine. Not the same as a manual so you have to tweak the settings. I needed to bump strength right up, bring the grind right down and drop the coffee length to get a good coffee but now, awesome. Better than half the shops in town. Auto milk is awesome too. No issues 3.5 years later. Show details · 1

The machine can no longer sustain itself via maintenance menu. Just locks up and does nothing.
It just sits, and dribbles into its drip tray, and displaying a 'empty drip tray message' continuously.
I should have introduced it to my sledgehammer not long after my purchase. That's roughly when it started being precious and quirky and sending all members of my family bonkers with its behaviours.
Wont be buying another product from this line of products.

Not too bad – Not bad once you get the hang of it. Some issues when using the manual feeder. The internal part sticks and the coffee grinds fall straight through to the drip tray but works perfectly when using automatic grind. Setting to the longest sleep time helps to reduce the refill water messages. Show details · 1

Solid performance – This machine has produced dependable coffee up to 5 times a day for well over a year now. The coffee is between good and excellent depending on the beans. I took it out the box to get the taste perfected. The only deep cleaning I've done is to periodically clean the brew group to ensure the flow is consistent. I have not performed and descaling and have not noticed any issues. A few days ago, I noticed the door was becoming incredibly difficult to open and close. It required so much force to open and close, I feared I'd break the hinges. To resolve the problem, I dropped a bit of unrefined coconut oil on both hinges and now the door opens and closes with lightest touch. I'm truly amazed how well this alleviated the sticky hinge issue. I hope this tip helps someone.

A lifesaver... Need at least a cup a day! – I am honestly happy with my machine. I chose this as a friend was happy with hers. I wanted something quick, reasonably quiet, reliable & easy to clean. It is great that the coffee can be completely adjusted as well. I have made over 500 cups & it just keeps giving. You do need to buy a water filter & descaling solution to keep it at optimum performance which wasn't clear from the outset..Highly recommended! Show details · 6
Disgraceful – 15 months of repairs and time spent communcating and driving the machine more kilometres than my children. Phillips absolutely useless and happy for us to continue with this defunct machine that grinds beans, spits them out snd then says add coffee! 20 episodes of this each morning may provide us with a single cup of coffee. I suppose today i will again call ohillips looking for a resolution.

of it now leaking from the bottom of the machine.
We have tried ringing the customer centre only to be told it would be escalated and someone will call us back. Well surprise surprise no call back. Again we have rang the customer centre to be told the same thing again! It was not even acknowledged that we rang previously.
Clearly the machine is faulty, if it has already had major parts such as the water pump replaced in its short life then the machine needs to be replaced. Our service centre is over an hours drive away and they do not do pickups and dropoff in our area. My disappointment in this machine is now at an all time high. I highly doubt I would ever recommend anyone of our friends to buy one.

and I followed advice given to me from a chat session. It just annoys me when I an hanging out for a cappuccino and the machine will not get off the message on the front door Saying "Empty Coffee Grounds Drawer and at the same time "Empty Drip Tray". I don't know why this happens, maybe it is a software problem. I would like to know why the machine displays this message and if there is an easier way to get the machine up and running in a shorter time span. I use Vittoria Coffee beans for my machine and the milk temp is fine for me and I suppose why the milk temp is not to high is because if it was too high it would probably block the frothing mechanism
Don't bother – Door hinge broke off - two weeks to fix just under warranty. 2 months later thermostat broke down - no warranty and $250. Got it back and now telling me the water tank needs filling when it's full so in the bin this rubbish machine goes as I'm not paying to get it fixed a third time.

of making coffee. Toby's Estate coffee beans, filte red water and milk. What could go wrong! It tasted like crap. There was a horrible after taste. We figured out once you added the milk and water element, the taste changed from coffee to this vile horrible taste. After many vocals to Saeco we were advised to descale. It their instruction booklet it states 35 minutes. I was going into my second hour with it not going to the 2 part of the descale. It was looping. Saeco told me to turn it off and take it back to Harvey's.
To cut a very long story short that Involved Saeco, Harvey Norman head office, Fair Traiding I was given a new machine. We programmed it last night....had a couple of shorts.....all ok.
This morning added the milk.....and that horrible vile taste is back!
I'm so upset I have spent $1800 of this heap of crap and I'm not looking forward to going through the whole process again with Harvey's and Saeco.
Can someone please tell me what that taste is? The water tank smells of it ......it's maybe the plastic.....I don't know.....but unless this gets sorted I will be writing reviews on this machine everywhere. It's crap....stay clear!
