Don't buy a Samsung Fridge – My Samsung fridge is mechanically very good, but the internal shelves and drawers are rubbish - they are all cracked and breaking. We had a few parts replaced within the first year while still under warrantee. Now the parts are no longer available. My friend just replaced her Samsung fridge for the same reason. The support team tell me that they… Read more

don't make the parts anymore and that no other model has matching parts - they seem to think this is an adequate response. They say the fridge is from 2002, but I bought it brand new at Harvey Norman in 2012 - not advertised as an old model either. One Samsung employee said to go on Ebay - which I already had. I've scoured the net. My 26 year old Westinghouse in the garage is in much better condition - and that was our main fridge for 20 years! Stay away from Samsung!

We purchased this Samsung Family Hub refrigerator in September 2022 and our experience has been far below what anyone should expect from a premium appliance. In around 3 years, the fridge has needed service 3 times. Earlier problems included water leakage and an ice maker malfunction, and these issues were never properly resolved. We are now… Read more

facing a serious cooling fault, with Samsung’s own diagnostics warning of reduced cooling performance and a technician advising there appears to be a gas leak requiring further diagnosis.

Samsung has reached out, but the response process has felt unacceptably slow, with each interaction seeming to take another 3 business days just to make progress. That may be inconvenient for a smartwatch or soundbar, but it is a completely different situation when a family of 4 is left without a reliable fridge. During a cost-of-living crisis, losing food and having no proper refrigeration is a major household problem, not a minor inconvenience. We ended up buying a cheap second fridge just to have somewhere to store food while waiting for Samsung to resolve the matter.

For a refrigerator in this price range, repeated breakdowns, unresolved defects, and now a major cooling issue are not acceptable. This product has not met reasonable expectations for quality, reliability, or durability, and we hope Samsung urgently provides an appropriate resolution.

I would give this fridge zero stars if that were an option. This has been, without question, the most disappointing appliance I’ve ever purchased. For the price we paid, the quality is simply unacceptable. We experience issued 3 big issues in 3y — inconsistent cooling, leaks, and an ice maker that rarely works. There is always something going… Read more

wrong, and it’s beyond frustrating. Customer service has been just as disappointing. Unhelpful, slow, and completely lacking any sense of urgency or accountability. We waited over a week in good faith for a resolution, only to be left dealing with ongoing problems and significant food loss — which is absolutely unacceptable. Spending thousands on a product like this should bring reliability and peace of mind — not constant stress and added costs. Honestly, I would rather spend $1,000 on a basic, dependable fridge than $4,000 on something that consistently fails. Now they offered a “free repair” to us Unbelievable!

The cool big boy! – Our fridge died! So I set about finding a fridge that suited my family's needs. Loads of space, easy to access, filtered water and ice! Load's of ice! I stumbled on the Samsung Family Hub. I fell in live with a fridge! Sad I know! But this thing is great. Yes it's expensive, huge and totally unnecessary but it just made sense. quality is great, the size is perfect for us.

The screen is a great addition to the kitchen. We use it for reminders and notes for the kids. The water dispenser is great. The best part of the fridge. The ice is never ending which suits us perfectly. Great for summer G&T's!

Would I recommend this fridge - most certainly yes.

Clever design, perfect for even couples! – I chose this fridge because of the option to alter the temperature in one side of the freezer. That’s a great option if you want a larger fridge but don’t need a lot of freezer space! We use the lower right for drinks. The top part is nice and wide to store anything large that has been cooked in the oven like slices and cakes etc. There is a… Read more ·  1

moveable shelf that allows for taller items without having to move shelves. And the whole fridge maintains its temperatures perfectly. The beverage centre at the top left is so user friendly for quick access for milk, cold water, juice etc. Plus the smart tablet option on the front is just so useful. We use the whiteboard, recipes, “looking into the fridge option” and it has many more cool options. Honestly this is coolest fridge we have owned this far and we Love it!

Adore this fridge! – I eyed this fridge off for nearly 2 yrs before we bought 1, mostly because of price Harvey's had them for $4500 - $5300 for a while so in the meantime I did plenty of research into what it does and compared it to other fridges and I just always came back to it, that lcd screen just sucked me right in everytime, the recipes, the weather, YouTube,… Read more

the radio, the calendar syncing, the grocery list, view inside and I could go on & on. I am a bit of a tech head in life so if it's got gadgets and features I'm in love with it haha so i assure you I use all that I mentioned above... plus we turned 1 of the bottom sections into a -1 fridge and it keeps meat, herbs and other bits and pieces fresher just that bit longer then in the top fridge...we have had 0 issues with our fridge since buying it a year ago. My favourite is using TuneIn radio while I'm cooking or keeping my son entertained with YouTube while I cook... I do wish I could use the Coles app instead of Woolies & it had uber eats instead of just uber haha but in all I can't say enough good things about it. In the end Bing Lee had it for $3999 so I went to good guys and told them and ended up paying $3960 even while it was on special for $4999 so I was pretty pleased with myself as my husband told me I wasn't to pay more then $4000 for it before going off to buy it :)

Amazing upgrade. Going to take me awhile to get through all the features! – This fridge has everything you could possibly need. We love that you can check what’s inside while shopping, play music while cooking and the ice machine is fantastic. The best feature of this fridge is that you can change one section of the fridge to a freezer, extremely helpful to my family as we always have excess fruit and vege. Highly recommend!! Show reply

SRF7900BFH brand new only 3 months. Ice maker not working. Fridge freezer has temperature issues. Makes loud noises. Hub issues and doesnt show error codes. Freezer back wall both sides all frosted. Intial technician assessed said fridge faulty.… Read more

Fridge at 5 degrees and freezer was at 0 degrees. He recommended an exchange of unit. But Case Manager insisted ice maker only needs changing. When I refused as I had been experiencing further issues and reporting back to Samsung theirs more issues then the ice maker prior to the technician coming out. I didnt want technicians coming every week to assess and try to fix issues one after another. technician know is been rebooked to come out next Friday. However the case manager told their agreed company to change freezer wall and pcb unit only. I explained to the staff memeber that only a re inspection has been organised again by the case manager so a detailed report is written outlining all the issues. She was suprised to hear that and said the instructions were clear. I emailed the case manager who said he only organised an re-inspection. So as to who the technician company came up with detailed descriptions of what needed to be chamged i have no idea. Thats when i literally flipped and thought why am i even going through all this stress. Already been 3 weeks. Apparently the case manager is the highest level i can reach who isnt listening. Literally Samsung for me is disaster with poor service and bad customercare. . Only in respect for myself im not using the case managers name. But the technician well he was amazing. Knew exactly what he was doing. Wasn't his fault that Samsung hadn't provided him with all the details from the beginning. SOMETHING I FORGOT TO TELL THEM WAS IT WAS USING UP ALOT OF ENERGY TOO as displayed on the hub. That part of the hub works I suppose. Today i emailed Samsung customer services and to case manager Formal letter of complaint as recommended by consumers affires. Im literally upset mostly due to the lack of communication and poor response time ive been repeating my self since the 27th of January the day after i raised my initial concern. I purchased directly from Samsung and traded my $7000 fridge. I thought buying directly would provide better service. Im so over it. If they offer me a refund I will simply take it.

Follow-up  · Energy use has doubled. Not cooling and freezer compartment wall all thick frosted. No ice making in ice maker compartment. Noises are constant banging loud popping rattling. Fridge shuts down and restarts at times like sounds like someones inside the unit banging a hammer inside. Frequently disturning noises. Odd high air pressure noises… Read more

No temperature control fridge freezes or gets too warm randomly – In just one year the fridge started behaving weirdly. Lower right freezer won't freeze and the fridge section freezes the food. shows errors when starting up, also sometimes shows warnings about unusually high temperature in the fridge. Also, the inside view cameras don't work. So much food has spoilt. Problems are complicated further by non existent customer care who just say that someone will fix it today but nobody shows up. It has been over a month dealing with them. Will never buy a Samsung product again.

Update - Finally after over 4 months of first reporting the issue, they took the fridge back and offered a refund. But it was too much inconvenience and a lot of food wasted.

Follow-up  · Update... Yes, the refund covered the original purchase price. They took the fridge in a truck, not sure how it was disposed. We then bought similar sized LG French door fridge with craft ice.

A Great Big Fridge – We bought the 810L Samsung Fridge 10 years ago and just upgraded to this as only LG has a similar sized fridge for our large family. Overall the redesign of the shelving and space is great. Everything feels like it can take more weight and has more useable space Pros: * Space is well laid out. More fridge room than the original. * The auto fill… Read more

jug is brilliant and there is less mess with the new water dispenser which easily fits a 1L tall water bottle under it. * The freezer is a better flexible design making good use of space instead of a big drawer to dump things in. * The flexible cool/freeze section will be perfect for Christmas left overs! * The screen is a bit of a gimmick but the kids love it and I could see a Bixby/Samsung house working well with it.

Cons: * Not having an ice dispenser after 10 years of crushed ice is sad, the auto ice maker does work well though and the small ice cubes are good. It is not a deal breaker and leaves us with less water puddles left by kids. * I miss the deli drawer but have learned to work around the loss * I forgot how hard it is to get in a house, I had to dismantle part of our verandah entry to allow the delivery team to get it in; make sure you get the box size and pay for Premium Delivery as they will be reluctant to bring it in unpackaged.

Final thoughts, this is a great fridge that feels well made and is BIG. I would 100% recommend it if you need a big fridge. If you have kids they will annoy you to death playing with the screen for the first week but once that passes the clock, weather, and calendar are nice to have.

Great fridge...but the ice maker – We shelled out a lot for this fridge (because I love my gadgets). The fridge and freezer itself is spacious and cools well. fridge is not in use, and the clock and timer are very handy. I bought the fridge because I always forget to buy things or create shopping lists when going grocery shopping and so being able to see what's in the fridge by looking on my phone when I am at the shops was a feature I thought would be great. I hardly use this feature as my fridge is alway messy (I have 4 kids). I am disappointed with the ice maker though. It is bad at making crushed ice, which comes out in a combination of cubes and crushed ice. The water doesn't come out that cold either. I know these are first world problems, however you expect these things given the hefty price tag. I would buy this fridge again though.

Worst fridge ever – Do not buy this fridge, I have had endless problems with the ice maker and I just can not stomach the thought of ringing Samsung again. When the freezer door kept sticking, Samsung told me this was not part of the service to have it repaired. Then in June 2019 the door was still stuck and the ice maker refused to work, all the ice was stuck. They sent someone to fix it, that someone told me that Samsung was having problems with this model's ice maker. He fixed it. February 2022, ice maker stuck yet again. I was told that the fridge was out of the two year warranty and Samsung did not recognize the stores extended warranty. I argued it was an existing problem. So, yet again a technician was sent to fix it. Now, November 2024, ice maker has been stuck for several months. Im sick of it. I also had to get rid of a Samsung washing machine which had reoccuring problems. But this fridge is too expensive to just go out and buy another one. Don't risk your money, do not buy it.

Avoid unless you are happy waiting for software updates to fix all the bugs! – 'Smart' features mostly broken. Software is buggy and performance is horrible. Fridge part of the fridge is fine, but if you are wanting to enjoy the benefits of the screen/apps, stay away! List of issues: 1. AI Camera only takes snapshots as you add/remove food. You won't know what's in the fridge unless you 'show' it properly each time (it… Read more

keeps the last snapshot for the left and right doors, but no image of the inside of the main compartment which is dependant on you holding it/scanning as you add/remove). The camera also activates as you open the drinks door, which is silly as it can't see anything (the camera is in-between the French doors facing outwards). 2. SmartThings App on the fridge doesn't work. You'd think you'd be able to use the smartthings app on the fridge to control/see you other devices. Well, you can, if lucky. I've only seen my other devices show up once. Most of the times its blank (will probably be fixed by a software update... one might hope). 3. Energy Monitoring is broken. The fridge is supposed to show energy usage in the smartthings app. It doesn't. 4. The screen turns itself off/goes to sleep when you are using it. Playing music/watching a video? Will turn off and stop playing. Looking at a recipe? Will turn off, and then you need to go through all the steps again to find the same recipe, only to have it disappear as you are cooking. I'm hoping this is a software update fix because this was one of the main reasons I got the fridge. 5. Performance. I have to reboot the screen/fridge every day or so as the interface gets really laggy. Button pushes don't register, swiping is slow. 6. Apps. As this is a custom OS, you don't get an apps store. No YouTube music, only Spotify and TuneIn radio. Included apps are pretty limited.

I'm sure there are plenty of other issues with the software, but this has been my experience in the ~1 week since getting the fridge. Overall it feels like no-one put the software through any real-world testing. I'd only recommend this if you are confident these features will be fixed in a software update and like the drinks bar thing.

ice. I get a thick sheet of ice on the freezer base within days of (tediously) clearing it. The ice build up behind the freezer back panel has forced the panel out and badly distorted the freezer box floor. I think it's building up under the freezer floor. I had a Westinghouse for 15 years, still working but upgraded when I moved. Mistake buying a Samsung.

(default setting 3°, -19°) even though it's been 3 days since it was powered on, and it’s still at 10°~15° for both fridge, freezer. I spoke to Samsung, but they can't replace the fridge as it's out of stock and will be discontinued (but back in stock week later, they lied). A week after requesting a refund, the fridge was back in stock, so i asked for an exchange instead of a refund. However, i was told that a refund was still the only option because the refund process was already underway. And they also gave me the ridiculous explanation that the department handling new products and the one handling replacements are separate, so even if there was stock for a new unit, it was impossible to exchange.

Anyway, I had no choice but to accept the refund, and that’s when the problems began. I traded in my old fridge for $250, which Samsung took when they delivered the new fridge and $250 trade in value deducted from the total price. I requested for $250 refund or return my old fridge because the discount i received is pointless as the new fridge can no longer be used, and i’m left without my previous fridge. However, Samsung will not return my old fridge or refund the $250 trade-in value because i received a discount. I didn't get a discount without trade in my old fridge. Since the new fridge is defective and can't be exchanged, the trade-in contract should also be void and refund trade in value too. It's not a change of mind return. This return is due to the defective nature of the product, which is outside of my control.

Based on my previous experience, every time i call Samsung Australia, they just repeat the same thing, and i’m not sure if the case manager even exists because no one has contacted me for weeks. As a result, when i reach out to Samsung again, the same conversation is repeated.

Now i find myself stuck in this endless loop again because, despite my previous bad experience, i foolishly decided to buy another Samsung product.

*Update from Samsung Received money back without $250 roughly 3 weeks after i requested for refund.

Shocking fridge – Do NOT buy a fridge from Samsung. We bought a family hub fridge a few years ago with great excitement and have had major issues ever since. 1. and have joined a Facebook group about Samsung. I don’t understand how they are still in business. I was interested in the Samsung family and eldest daughter and her career. Don’t buy an appliance because you are interested in the company’s owner’s family. Do your research better than I did. I always read bad reviews now.

Before buying, consider what happens if the tablet control panel is broken – Got this as a replacement in Dec 2018, previous model was the Sodastream ($3K) one but had a major fault with back panel being too thin, had a hole and freezing up the fan (you can google this). Previously had a side by side water and ice maker Westinghouse for 10 yrs with no issue, and I really like my sparking water, so upgraded to the soda… Read more

stream one from Samsung.

Had some minor issues in the first few years, but fixable (ice maker frozen up, freezer top tray needed a new runner - seems common from the reviews). Then this year: - freezer draw stop freezing, cleaned out defrosted food and reset the temp, been fine so far - icemaker frozen up, but just cleaned it our and used hair dryer (learnt from reading forums) - went away for 3 weeks in Sept '23, came back to see the tablet showing software update and the touchscreen was not working to select ok. Restarted it using the on/off button inside the right door, still no response from touch screen. I called to logged service ticket, was out of warranty, they escalated it and case manager called back saying it's 5 years old and I need to pay for the repair myself. I argued that it was a major fault as I couldn't control the fridge without the control panel, but still no joy. Switch on my phone camera so they could see how pristine my fridge was with no physical damage.... Not very helpful - got an email with some discount codes, please choose what discount you'd like and here's the service centre number to organise and pay for your own repair.

Looked up the Samsung support forums again, saw a work around whereby you connect a USB mouse to inside of on/off panel and navigate the screen that way - this allowed me to do the software update, but still no joy - do not know if this software update caused the touchscreen to stop working or the touch screen control board needs replacing. I also set up the SmartThings app as another way to connect to the fridge and control the functions.

Ice maker froze up again today, but the SmartThings app wouldn't work in switching off the icemaker, so got the USB mouse out again.

I'm doing this review to let others know to consider carefully before buying a family hub (touch screen panel) or any other type of smart fridge that needs a touchscreen panel to control the fridge. If this control panel/screen stops working, it's going to next to impossible to control (set temps, fast freeze...) your fridge. These fridges aren't cheap, they should be lasting for at least 8 - 10 yrs. They are also a pain to carry upstairs, so consider carefully before investing.

I'm also disappointed in Samsung for shrugging their shoulders, they know full well the fridge is rendered useless if you can't control it - yes, it still works (fingers crossed) but not as it should at the basic functions level. The thought of it breaking and having to be replaced is daunting, need to get movers in as we have an upstairs kitchen.

I have other Samsung products (laser projector, sound bar, tablet...), but will stop investing in them moving forward - for the price you pay, the return should be longer, especially white goods like fridges. TV already moved to LG and Sony.

Beware – This was a great fridge when we first purchased it. Love the apps and screens. Being able to do your Woolworths online shop from it was a major draw card. Then 6 months later after an update they discontinued this. Then the issues started. The ice maker and water dispenser started leaking. Every day there was a puddle of water on the floor. Then… Read more

the freezer started icing up. Got it repaired and the drain at the back was blocked. Another 6 months later and the ice maker stopped working and water dispenser started leaking. Called Samsung support who said they’d get a technician around. While waiting for someone, the temperature in the freezer started fluctuating going from -17 deg to 20 deg without even opening the fridge. After not hearing back from Samsung, I called and was told sorry we can’t get anyone to come out and look at the fridge so we’ve cancelled the claim. Escalated the issue and was told they’d try and find someone to come out. In the meantime I couldn’t use the freezer at all and then the fridge temp started fluctuating from 5 deg to 15 deg. More food wasted. The night before a technician finally came (2 months later) I got home to find water pouring in my downstairs bedroom from the ceiling, right where the fridge is located in the kitchen upstairs. The fridge had leaked into my floorboards through the ceiling into my floor and bed. Technician came, was there 5 mins, opened the doors and told me it needed a new circuit board. Samsung said they would give me a store credit from where I purchased the fridge…..that was a month ago and I just got notification from them yesterday that the credit has been processed, after many phone calls and emails wondering what’s happening. They don’t care about any damages to my floorboards, ceiling, bed (I have brown stains from the water leak due to the polish from the floorboards). It’s a shame about everything as I really did love this fridge to begin with.

Ice cube maker NEVER WORKS – Samsung have agreed to fix all these fridges from 2014-2023 in America but not in Australia. Figure that out. It costs $600 to fix this issue and it doesn’t fix it long term. Samsung have not got a great bake up service. The plastic draws inside have all broken Show details

Good hardware, software bugs that are not resolved by SAmsung – I bought this fridge in 2021... Positives: - Good hardware - Silent - Energy efficient - Space - Smart zone is really good. Negatives: - Software - Samsung support September 2022 after a software update the view inside feature stopped working. The View Inside function of this fridge is one of the core advertised features and as things stand… Read more

today, that function is not working as advertised. After 2 months of dealing with Samsung and not having the issue fixed, I consider this fridge to have a major fault and that Samsung is not able to fix the Fridge within a reasonable time.

Furthermore, if I had known this issue existed, I would not have bought the fridge. Based on the above, according to the ACCC Consumers can choose between a refund or replacement when a product has a major problem.

But there is just no answer from Samsung... every response is "we are escalating this".

Do yourself a favor, avoid any Samsung products that require software.

Next time I will go with another brand and non-smart.

Nothing but issues - warranty service non existent – Nothing but problems. Have been without a fridge for 2.5 weeks already because samsung diagnose fault from a code. Engel, whilst being cut off from flood waters. Will never buy another product from samsung ever again. I understand things can fail, however, samsung show no empathy or care for their customers. We have to do all the chasing from their authorised repairer. Likely we will be without a fridge for up to 4 weeks and Samsung - couldn't care less. So much for the 21st century! If you want after care - pray your product doesn't fail or don't choose samsung!!! Non existent customer service.
