I think Samsung should stick to phones and TVs. I'm not writing about the model i selected above—I picked that randomly because I just want to write about Samsung fridge/freezers in general. I'm the third person I know to wish I hadn't bought a Samsung fridge/freezer. The fridge is fine but even on the lowest setting the freezer box just creates ice. I get a thick sheet of ice on the freezer base within days of (tediously) clearing it. The ice build up behind the freezer back panel has forced the panel out and badly distorted the freezer box floor. I think it's building up under the freezer floor. I had a Westinghouse for 15 years, still working but upgraded when I moved. Mistake buying a Samsung.

The photos show 1. It's on lowest setting. 2. The amount of ice accumulated on the base in 2 weeks. 3.The back panel being forced out by the ice build up. 4. The thick ice on the base (during removal).

Hi Colin, I am so sorry to hear about the poor experience you have had recently with your fridge. I would love to take a look into what is going on here and hopefully provide some clarity on the situation. I have reached out to you via private message, please respond when you can.

Hi Amy. I bought the fridge in late 2016 (I could probably get a receipt from The Good Guys). It's been icing up for a couple of years (and I think a fridge should last at least ten years). It recently got worse and so much ice built up behind the back panel it pushed it out and severely distorted the base where it curls up at the back (behind the back panel). I had to butcher the distorted base (i.e. break bits off) to get the back panel back more or less in place. I think the unwanted ice pack is actually right under the freezer box. So even if the icing can be diagnosed, the freezer box is beyond repair. I put the adverse review because I'm faced with throwing away a fridge that works perfectly because the freezer doesn't work as it should, it's insane how quickly the ice builds up now (on the floor and behind the panel). I am frustrated but as it's unlikely Samsung will replace my unit at 8 yrs old I'm not sure there's anything that can be done. I'm certain a phone call won't achieve anything. So I think it's fair to let people know their Samsung fridge/freezer might not last as long as they hope. Thanks for your response.

Later. Samsung have agreed they can't do snything—tacit agreement that a freezer conking out after 8 years is fine. Use just the fridge till that goes too I suppose. WESTINGHOUSE!

I've added photos to my original entry to illustrate my miserable experience.

Too much goes wrong – Fridge itself is great, however we have only had it for 3 years and we have had to replace the tablet (under warranty) then the freezer light went (which we decided to live without) and now the sound has gone from the tablet, which we need to listen to music, hear our doorbell and timer. For something that cost so much money it should last a lot longer than that. The tablet also freezes on a regular basis. There is only a years warranty, so this is where Samsung make even more money.

Purchased in at Harvey Norman for $4,925.

My beautiful wife picked this model and I would have to say I was extremely hesitate due to the price tag – Extremely well designed in function and very user friendly. Layout and ease of compartments contributes to money well spent. If you are thinking of upgrading your fridge don't hesitate to consider this product.

Not sooo good – The Samsung refrigerator looks great inside and out BUT fails to mention if freezer temperature is set too cold, it can cause plastic drawers to break very easily. I’ve had my Samsung fridge 3 years and I think it’s timefor a upgrade.
