Did the latest update now my phone is so hard to use and can't go backwards with the updates it's just a ploy to get you to buy a new phone. But it won't be samsung

Flagship phone a big joke! My brand new 18 month old Galaxy S21 5G phone needed a screen replacement as green vertical lines suddenly appeared, initially just one line and now I have three. I am always very careful with my phones and have never dropped one, have screen protectors and phone cases but it didn’t help with this phone even though it’s… Read more
still in perfect condition.
After extensive online research, this issue is apparently well known with phones that have the AMOLED screen that Samsung phones have but apparently this issue is most common with the Galaxy S20 to S23. I got further frustrated by Samsung customer service after wasting hours, initially by booking a phone call which didn’t eventuate, then almost 2 hours with an online chat, followed by an email with instructions about getting my phone repaired but at no stage of this process was I advised that Samsung would not replace my phone’s screen for free. Instead they sent me to an authorised Samsung repairer in Brisbane 80km away only to be told I would have to pay $320 for a new screen because my phone is an International model so the warranty expired by 6 moths even though in India as a goodwill gesture they’re replacing the screens for free through to September 2025. I have since decided never to buy another Samsung phone. I purchased a new Motorola Moto G85 on 19/06/2025 for only $247 from Officeworks and it's just as good as the Samsung Galaxy S21 including the photos and so far am very happy with this beautiful large but lightweight phone.

(Quint)Essential Tool For Modern life!!! – For Android users and those wishing to transfer to what is an ubiquitous System.Transfer from older Android phone was easy and painless, bought in 2021(april) with extended warranty but was not needed.Has capacity for 2 SIM cards, so is a good purchase for work related phone use as you can separate the calls, for tax purposes.'Goof proof' Camera… Read more · 2
with new features for better pics,I use it to take snaps of internet purchases&anything where time stamp is essential.. Minimal 'bloatware' and a plethora of android programmes, I use WPS office and MS office365,along with Mc Afee security.I have devised a programme in Excel to record tax deductibles(FOR USE at end of financial year),I also have a bluetooth keyboard linked to my phone so that I can type into Word.Due to the generous memory I have downloaded many a kindle version of books of interest, so that they are to hand whenever time permits. This is especially so with regard to cookery books and shopping for supplies,(ingredients). The Calender function takes the pain out of appointments and the alarm function makes it easy to be on time for appoitments andthe notes is an additional bonus.I did have a tough film put in professionallyand the phone has survived many a drop on to hard floors.. I remember to charge every night and the phone has capacity to attribute a different tone to specified callers, thus makig it easier to decide which calls to take and which goes thru' to 'message'. There are many subtle innovations, that make it extra user friendly. One has to have adequate data allowance and home WI FI to make adequate use ofit. Also one must check wether there is adequate signal strength this will depend on the provider and building.Scams abound for the unwary,SMS's need to have verification re authenticity before'clicking' on links..I would reccommend this as an essential purchase to face modern living both for work and domestic (recreational) use.
Impractical and inconvenient – I got my phone from Optus about 5mths ago. I am not a heavy user, but I do use my phone for basic work reports a couple of times a day. Nothing but problems, but initially so few and so random each time I went to Optus and Samsung store the phone was working fine! Now it is getting worse! The over heating is beyond rediculous - I don't even play… Read more
games or watch videos. It seems simply typing and using my phone for basic work reports seems to kill it! Can't type/use for any more than 15mins without it getting really hot to the point I can't hold it! Battery is really, really, really bad - doesn't get me theough an 7.5hr shift in which I make only a few calls, and type about 3 reports taking 15mins each including 3-4 photo's. Screen seems to freeze alot, especially when dialing/calling people. Now the keypad won't work when I have to "press 1 for..." very frustrating because it literally means I simply can't use certain services on my phone which is very inconvenient because I don't have a landline and I don't work in an office. 2 days ago I received a call while driving and my Maps App was running. Thr phone crashed, but didn't turn off, rather it automatically answered the call but the caller couldn't here me. It didn't matter what I pressed the phone frozen so I could do nothing. They called back 3 more times and dame thing happened. Pulled over to try and turn phone off but again it frozen even though caller had hung up. Suddenly bixby came on (no idea why) so I was able to use voice to turn off phone and restart. At a loss as you what to do because I NEED my phone daily at work, so can't afford the downtime. I know they will only offer to send it away but the $79 phone they will suggest I buy meanwhile will not be suffice for me to work with. Given the short time I have had the phone I really think it should be replaced. How do I insist on this?
One of the best phones on the market today – So I recently purchased the Samsung s21 5G 256GB, the phone it self has a large 6,4 inch screen yet it's extremely light, i find the battery life is exceptional I get a full day and a half of general use before I have to charge it which is great compared to other brands. took a photo of the full moon and I can fully zoom in and see asteroid impacts which is unreal and unheard of for a phone and with 256GB of space you can go wild.
Using the phone is so easy all apps open fast and operate very well, I like to play games on my phone but most phones have lag and take age's to load but not this phone all games so far download and load extremely fast and game play is great. I did have to purchase a charger, screen protector and protective case separately which for just under $1000 should be a given especially the charger but hey for the quality I guess I can deal with that.

Don't buy new, buy REFURBISHED – I often buy refurbished phones, and this is my second purchase from Green Gadgets. The phone works absolutely fine, not scratch, no operating issues. This is perfect. i can't live without it – the Samsung S21 has so much to offer which comes in awesome colours. i feel that they are making the screens stronger, i have dropped my phone 1 to many times and i have a small crack on the screen. Show details · 1

One big thing missing – So I do like this phone, I know I don't use it to it's fullest capacity but it is a step up from the 'A' range I previously had. It takes great pictures and I enjoy that. Except in one thing; previous phones were easy to download photos and, more importantly to select the 'erase after saving' option. This no longer appears to be a feature on this… Read more
phone. I suppose most people just save to clouds, or whatever but I want the images on my PC. In order to get them there, my only option seems to be drag and drop, which is tedious. There appears to be no way to clear them off the phone except going through, one, by one, by one.... and deleting them individually. I can't even do that manually on my PC. No online help post that I have been able to find discusses this either.

Worst reception of any phone I have had – At my home, When I switch the SIM card between my old S10 with 4 bars of reception and the S21 with only 1 or at best 2 bars. I have tested change to 4G/3G, no difference. The Telsta 5G is so slow with this poor reception. I notice the same around country towns, changing the sim to s10s is much better reception. It's gotten worse rather than better – I have only owned Samsung's and this is by far the worst I've had. The battery life is terrible, even if you have it on airplane mode it drains. The apps freeze and the messages app keeps defaulting and requiring me to change settings every time I want to message someone. I was also disappointed to discover there was nowhere to connect my headphones, so I had to go buy cordless ones. Very very disappointed. Wish I had bought an iphone Show details

Great if you like Android features but the Exynos 2100 chip has abysmal performance and overheating – Google doesn't allow user reviews of products to be entered onto Google directly, so I came here. Bought my S21 new. There have been quite a few too many times where I have thought of throwing this S21 at a wall. I came from a Huawei P30 which seemed to also be having performance issues but didn't seem as slow as this S21 can be at times and app… Read more
crashes, my S21 seemed to handle background app multitasking better than my P30 though which was another point to upgrade, P30 had way better x30 Zoom having Leica lens but stopped receiving updates. I used a P10 before that and iPhone 6s before that in 2016. My 6s can outperform my S21 in apps like Instagram and feels much more reliable but obviously has a smaller screen and Apple really stuffed up the iOS12 launch causing me to go to Android.
There are some distinct pros going with an Android/S21: - G board is much better on Android and I feel I can type faster, auto-correct doesn't get in the way, you can copy up to 6 snippets at once to the clipboard. - NFC payments just work instantly without even unlocking your phone, my gf has an iPhone X and she always needs to unlock the phone with FaceID first or Pincode and it's so annoying like that. - Background multitasking is a great feature of Android and is handy if you need apps in the background to keep using Wi-Fi, e.g. Uploading videos or backing up files to a NAS. That was also another reason sticking to Android. - Always on display is very neat and feels like a feature I need, it's handy to just glance at latest app icon notifications or the time/date without touching the screen. It even shows battery percentage and charge time remaining when plugged in or wireless charging. Drops to 1Hz refresh rate to save battery. The latest iPhones cannot do AOD and minimum 10Hz refresh rate on their screens. S21 has adaptive refresh so you can choose between 60 or 120Hz, but the S21 FE removed this choice and iPhone 12/13 Pro also do not have this choice from memory. - Fingerprint reader was a must for me, this was a time before Apple released their mask wearing FaceID unlock update, but even now, I am glad I still have an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, it works well for me, but I read other people having issues. If the screen is wet, the entire screen becomes unusable with random button presses. I can unlock my phone in the dark bedside without any FaceID required. Great for controlling smart lights too. - Super fast 25w charging is nice from the super fast charger which you have to buy separately. As well as extra compatible super fast USB-C cables, I bought one super fast 25w charger off eBay for around $6.95 and it works on/off. As well as the cable. I think the S21 box came with a USB-C to USB-C super fast charging cable. - No notch (hole punch front camera), allows you to see many app notification icons, time, battery percentage, Wi-Fi, mobile reception, even current upload and download data speeds with Internet Speed Meter Lite app. - Torch has 5 brightness settings, great for those dark moments. - Samsung releases monthly Android/security updates, my Huawei's were lucky to get an update every 6-8 months and ever since the Trump ordeal, Huawei has stopped updated older flagships in little over 2 years from launch. I'm not sure how long Samsung will support their flagships but it's great to see this monthly commitment. Google is 5 years for Pixels and Apple seems to be 8 years with the 6s (6s not getting iOS 16). - Gmail lets you past images in-line in an email from G-board clipboard - Screen design and size is stylish and enjoyable to look at when in use, held back by all of the caveats of the Android ecosystem and Samsung's One UI. - It was $800 cheaper than an iPhone 13 Pro 256GB.
Cons: - Any little bit of moisture e.g. from steam or splashes of water from a pool/spa near the USB-C charging port will trigger a moisture alert preventing you from charging your phone for an hour or more even if you try to dry it with a hairdryer, very annoying and only leaves you with slow wireless charging option for that time if you even have access to wireless charging. - Battery is ok to not good (coming from a 2 year Huawei P30 which was wearing out of battery life), but I wouldn't rely on it to last 6+ hours, I always carry my external battery. I've turned off 5G (never could test it, but it was draining the battery even without a supported 5G plan, since if it's on, it looks for 5G towers) from mobile network settings and noticed an improvement and recently just turned off 120Hz refresh rate, I also turned off my dual eSIM to save battery and switched my screen timeout to 15 seconds. - Android app quality and the performance of One UI is quite slow (even with Processing speed set to High or Maximum). Sometimes apps crash, are slow to launch and don't behave as expected (Meta Business Suite extension) for example which I use often never launches the first or first few times, on my Huawei I had a similar issue but could be solved with a power app sleep setting, on my S21 nothing seems to fix this issue. I'm really considering going with iPhone 13 Pro or waiting for the 14 which is just 3 months away now and won't feature the notch on the Pros. - Battery struggles to last even 4-5 hours when using camera intensive apps. - Instagram is very slow to launch the camera, stock camera app no where near as fast or reliable as an iPhone one - Haven't used Bixby at all apart from a brief test, it's more of a gimmick. I have Google Home Hubs around my home, so I use that instead. Should be turned off to save battery, sometimes it just randomly activates in meetings like the Google Assistant one sometimes. - 256GB fills up fast if you prefer to keep your photos local + have a backup elsewhere on Google Photos. a 512GB option would have been nice, no microSD slot or 3.5mm jack is a huge two gut punches to loyal owners of Android and Samsung. Flying a few times and needing to find my 3.5mm + USB-C dual adapter was annoying. - Being IP68 water resistant and having this Exynos 2100 chip in AU (the only one covered by AU warranty here), I feel this S21 can heat up quite quickly performing basic tasks over a longer period, usually it gets to around 39-40+ degrees C (using CPU monitor app with overlay) if using the camera quite a bit or performing a lot of typing and app switching, otherwise it usually sits at 32 degrees C. Sometimes when it's at 39-40+ degrees it will overheat and close the camera app during a Timelapse I was doing. I also noticed this issue on my Huawei P30 during an all day timelapse, but my P30 was not IP68, and had a 3.5mm jack and the CPU would reach 70 degrees C BUT I would not feel the back of the phone so hot, whereas with the S21 being IP68, I feel the internals don't have any air to cool down. I read the iPhone 13 Pro also suffers from heat issues being IP68, but it seems that chipset runs much more cooler/efficiently. My 6s never had overheating issues but used to get hot after the iOS12 update and its messages app went crazy. The international Snapdragon version of the S21 has 20% better sustained performance if you watch mrwhosetheboss video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsLJLk3nx8k on YouTube. The S22s have the Snapdragon Gen 1 CPU now in Australia, but I still heard of other issues like smaller battery and you're still going to face Android like slow performance and reliability issues with third party apps vs iPhone/iOS. https://www.androidauthority.com/snapdragon-8-gen-1-vs-exynos-2200-3122407/ - Haven't had too many issues with calls, I would put it down to more the carrier at the time, but sometimes calls drop, if not on VoLTE, voice can feel muffled or the recipient can't hear me properly on speaker without me holding the phone so close, but on VoLTE (Vodafone prepaid voice was Crystal clear) - My Huawei P30 (2019) can seem like it's faster every now and then. - Doesn't seem like you can remove the Samsung apps but you can disable them. - Android related, but Gmail often doesn't return search results and Google Maps sometimes doesn't route to destinations (just forever loading). Had similar issue on my Huaweis. - Seems like Samsung Customer Support isn't that helpful, I contacted them once over the phone, goes to Phillipines call centre. - Sharing files or links from Android extensions often goes to the wrong app and usually opens up an SMS thread with a recent contact. One UI bug. - File browser/Gallery can feel slow and clunky, but gallery app will auto-play videos in thumbnail view like iPhone. Gmail sometimes has issues attaching files from the File Browser which might freeze on my Huawei P30/P10. - Not a good phone if you're expecting instant camera and IG/Social Media performance especially for Photography / Videography, passable if you're wanting everything else. iOS camera in third party apps is much more optimised from launching to quality I've read but I felt quality was good in IG, just VERY slow stutters to launch and swipe between filters for stories for example. Not sure if Pixel follows a similar fate but you can read this for sustained performance benchmarks. A lot of phones have trouble with managing heat/cooling especially being IP68. https://www.anandtech.com/show/17032/tensor-soc-performance-efficiency/4 - iOS 16 is introducing more Android-like features like lockscreen widgets and customisability. Hoping the 14 comes with Touch ID again but FaceID has improved a lot and I would say is much faster than the S21 FaceID scanner. Apparently the new FaceID on iPhones 12 or later can even scan in the dark.
In summary, it's a modern day flagship Android smartphone with lacking hardware features from previous generations but has IP68 which causes overheating when under heavy use. I would rate it 4/10 for user experience including performance issues. There are obviously some exclusive features you cannot get on iPhones which is why I chose this phone but am looking to go to iPhone next, as I've had enough of buggy and slow Android apps. I haven't tried a Pixel, but I can imagine apps like IG performing just as horribly. I wish I had gotten the Snapdragon 888 version even if it was without warranty as it has better performance and cooling.

lots of drop outs which I've never had before. Vodafone have the worst service so it's not going to be around long, there're plenty of phones on thr market that actually work well.
Worst phone ever – I have had problems with S21 within 6 months, has been replaced but new one has issues now within 3 months, not working just for calls. I am over it Show details
A good phone with issues – The S21 is an overall good phone but minor issues such as apps not working/freezing, questionable battery life, and minor lag spikes are all issues I wouldn't expect with such a new and relatively expensive phone. Show details
Never again – Battery life is pathetic, I dropped my phone and instead of just a crack I have ink running down half my phone...it's really unbelievable. I would never buy a Samsung again...newer models are designed to stuff up I swear.
Very, very disappointed with S21 – The phone looked attractive, savy, advanced, but the truth is: It’s far, FAR, from it. Once you receive a call on the phone and you answer it, the screen goes black and the only way to get it back on (if you need to use a loudspeaker) is by pressing its side button. distance the phone from your ear and screen comes on. Called Samsung few times and nobody was able to help me. Ultimately, I was left with a promise that somebody will call me. Nobody called me, and it’s been more than a month. Battery is so weak, doesn’t last nowhere near as advertised, and once you have that 5G network running, Power Saving is not available and good luck lasting half a day. So many other things, such as adds that are taking over Samsung Galaxy phones range (good luck browsing when every second link is an add), but I don’t want to write a book here, just want to say that if I knew all these issues I would’ve never EVER brought this phone. And I will never EVER buy a Samsung phone again. Their support is non-existent, as I had a chance to experience it personally. Wasted a lot of money on a worst Samsung series ever.
After 6 Samsung Phones this is a huge disappointment – Battery life is pathetic, only reason I replaced my 3 year old S10+ was battery was starting to wane a bit. I am on phone calls constantly for work and find I need to be charging it during the day. Also it is just not easy to use seems clunky and have gone backwards from previous models. Show details

Expensive paperweight – While this device boasts an I pressove set of of features like the camera and and screen, it can barely function under the weight of all the resource heavy hard baked apps, I have always been a fan of samsung devices but the s21 5g is so laggy it's barely usable. S10 was better. USB Port failed after about 1.5 months, and lack of headphone jack is just frustrating – USB port knackered after less than two months, with repeated moisture alarms amd intermittent charging before it conked out entirely. Went a week with no phone waiting for a wireless charging port to ve delivered. Also having no jack plug is very frustrating, as you are reliant on very expensive earbuds. Forgot them? of headphones in woollies anymore. Then my earbuds also broke, so no music or audio books until they are repaired unless I want to fork out for a 2nd set. Lack of a jack plug is not an improvement, the s10 could connect to earbuds too, they just took away the redundancy and made the phone worse. Incidently my earbuds bricked so I am in the situation of sending 2 month old s21 and 2 month old earbuds back for repairs, and switching back to my old s10, which I think I will probably stick with.

2. Its RRP is $1250 but it does not even give you a charger!! I spent extra to buy a Samsung charger, and the charging speed is very slow compared to other competitors in the market, such as Oppo, Huawei. They can fully charge the phone in 30 minutes, while S21 takes more than 1 hour and a half to fully charge.
3. Camera is very laggy. Sometimes I have to wait for more than 5 seconds to open the camera and wait another 5 seconds until the camera responds. Even the video you record is laggy when you watch it, and this is even worse when you use slow-motion mode. I was hoping the system update will fix it, but it is simply not improving. If you don't believe this, you can Google "S21 laggy camera".
4. Performance is bad. Exynos 2100 is the most advanced processor you can get on an Android phone, but FPS is not stable when I play Wild Rift even with performance mode switched on. I set the graphic quality to normal, and FPS normally fluctuate between 45 to 110 when having a team fight.
5. Overheating. It gets very hot when using the camera and playing games. It is OK in wintertime, but I am worried about using this phone in summer.
In summary, don't buy this phone. It is overpriced and just not worthy. Even my old S8 is better, at least the camera is not laggy.
Charging port easily damaged – Moisture detected fault. Had the phone 6 months somehow the charging port got damaged simply by plugging chargers in. No more Samsungs for me, they charged me $255 AUD to repair Never had this issue with s9. Show details

phone I have had the misfortune of having, back to iPhone after this
Samsung girl, had an Oppo 5G Reno, did the job awesome camera but not the best at making phone calls, which was the purpose of a mobile phone.
So I head back to a Samsung S21, what a mistake. 1. Immediately I noticed how slow and lethargic the phone itself is, from opening an app to dialing - every aspect of this phone is slow, I can only imagine what it'll be like in a years time. 2. Phone call quality is terrible (and I thought the Oppo was bad, seems like a dream ahhh the good old days). Crackly quality, sometimes it just drops out, restartthe phone and call back whoeverI was talking too. And a lot of the time it simply doesn't ring. 3. The apps, are constantly closing, and you have to restart your phone or reset it. Continuously.
Samsung's are meant to get better not worse. After the last two Android phones I'm likely to finally head back to an iPhone I'm that sick of them, oh well only 22 more months to go on this phone contract and I know this phone will not go the distance.
Steer clear of the S21 it would be their worst phone to date.
