Fridge has suddenly stopped working – Dear Samsung Customer Service, I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with my Samsung fridge, model number SR400LSTC , which I purchased in June 2017. Unfortunately, the fridge has suddenly stopped working. I have contacted AppliancesOnline, who referred me to a repair service. However, I am disheartened to see numerous negative… Read more

I hope Samsung will take this matter seriously and provide a swift resolution. I would appreciate it if you could investigate the issue and offer a suitable solution, such as a repair or replacement.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely, Amit
Plastic components fragile, break easily with basic every-day use – Issue: We had ongoing problems with the plastic components of this fridge breaking. The crisper drawer, the cheese keeper, the ice-cub maker in the freezer and one of the plastic shelves in the door broke within 12 months of use by our family of 4. Additionally the internal rails that hold the crisper drawer cracked. Samsung initially replaced… Read more
the components that broke within the first year, then the exact same plastic components that were replaced have broken again (due to bad design).
Update: After much back and forth with Samsung over many phone calls, they had my photos assessed by a technician, agreed that there is a manufacturing fault with the fridge and I have received a gift voucher for the original purchase amount to be used at the store I originally purchased it from. The broken product will be collected and a new refrigerator of my choosing delivered to my home.
I am pleased that this issue has been resolved but disappointed overall in the product and the excessive amount of time and effort it took to get a fair resolution.

Very poor quality I could not recommend – Similar experience as most others here, plastic bits break easily and the fridge failed completely within 5 years. What a waste of money and the planet ! Im 50+ and to be honest never had a fridge fail, so disappointed. It's that one product that when it dose fail the its majorly inconvenient, lost food, time and money. Not happy Samsung :( … Read more
The repairer told me not to bother fixing it as his experience was that the Samsung fridges are poor quality.

Crisper could be better designed – This fridge is fine except for small freezer depth and the awkward design of the crisper which gets stuck on the door and doesn't slide back in very easily. A "door panel" that gives access from the top of the crisper would be helpful addition. Show details
Amazing purchase – It’s not the first Time that I buy a Samsung product and as always I’m amazed of its functionality and durability. This top mount fridge Is very spacious and the motor is very quite not like some other brands. Very happy with it Show details · 1
Energy Efficent and sleek – Had to downsize the fridge and purchased this one. Pros: are that its quiet, its pretty and it doesnt leave fingerprints. Compartments are easily adjustable and the freezer can be converted into additional fridge space. Cons: the freezer doesnt contain a light, which i didnt think this would be a problem until you dont have it. Its small, good… Read more · 1
for a couple but i wouldnt think for a family. I have a seprate freezer and have used the 'twin' fridge for extra space when needed. but otherwise i wouldnt see much of a use unless you already have an enternal freezer. at $599 it was a very good price !

I would expect more than 6 years of life for a new fridge – My last fridge lasted 41 years. I've only had this one for 6 years and 3 months and it has suddenly stopped working. For the last 6 months I've had to set it on the lowest setting to keep the fridge down to 5 degrees. Very disappointed with modern fridges. Not made to last obviously. Show details
Very disappointing was big fan of samsung – I bought this from goodguys 5 years back and now all of the sudden the lower compartment stopped cooling. Called good guys they said call samsung and still no solution. I always bought samsung product but I think now I will have to re-think as not at all happy the way it has been dealt with. Show details

Worst purchase ever – Purchased this fridge from Harvey Norman in 2017. It was the only fridge available in the size I required so I was happy to buy it. That’s where the happiness ended. It has been the noisiest piece of junk I’ve ever had the displeasure to own, ( and I own a 2 stroke whipper snipper ). It burps, farts, whistles, clunks, clanks and best of all it… Read more
now doesn’t cool. For the first month or so I owned it I couldn’t sleep as I thought an intruder was breaking into the house, no joke, it’s THAT loud. So after a miserable 5.5 years of this relationship I now have a massive piece of landfill I need to pay to get rid of, and a $1200 hole in my pocket for a new one. I will never purchase anything from Samsung again, never, nothing. Zero customer service, absolute rubbish product. Hey Samsung, don’t bother with a sugar coated response in the comments, you know it’s a lie, and I know it’s a lie, we have been through this before when I first purchased it and you did nothing! AVOID SAMSUNG AT ALL COSTS! NO STARS.

Needs re-gassing after only 6 years of normal use – My Samsung fridge conveniently broke down right after the 5-year extended warranty I had purchased. Now the freezer stopped working and the compressor runs 24/7 and the fridge is loud and obnoxious. I was told by a licensed technician that the fridge needs re-gassing and will cost $500 to do so. A lemon backed by third world customer service – I've had this fridge for 6 years, which is on the low end of useful life for a fridge, only, it's been repaired TWICE and now needs repairing again for the same problem. built fridge that's going to continue to be faulty regardless of how many repairs are done to it.
For the first couple of years, this fridge will serve it's purpose, but that's it, a couple of years then it's cactus unless you pay or convince Samsung to cover a repair, that'll buy you a couple more years before the same problem happens again, this narrative seems common amongst most owners of Samsung fridges so you're taking a big risk of exposing yourself to frequent and high servicing costs if you make the mistake of buying. Don't do it.

Early Failure Due to Poor Design of Electrical Connectors (Unrepairable!) – Purchased a Samsung SR400LSTC top mount bar fridge 2.5 Years ago. halves impossible to replace. 2 separate refrigeration technicians (one Samsung’s) confirmed the fridge is unrepairable. Samsung refused 5 times any “free of charge remedy”. Very disappointing! I would not have bought a Samsung fridge if I thought it would only last 2.5 years. Reviews of Samsung fridge indicate that early failure is not unusual. Check [Website Removed] I am a retired engineer with 40+ years experience in corrosive industries. The connectors Samsung use are not fit for service. For a few extra dollars they could be upgraded to more corrosion-resistant ones. The connectors are in a very moist environment, ideal for early corrosion. At the very least, the metal parts should have been coated with a food grade grease to mitigate against corrosion. ACCC Warranties and Refunds Guidelines indicate that a full refund plus costs can be obtained from the retailer if an item does not live up to expectations. I successfully did this and bought a better brand starting with “W”. The whole process took 23 stressful days. My suggestions: 1. Avoid Samsung fridges until they are more reliable (some models have other issues too). 2. Invoke ACCC with the retailer early. Don’t be as patient as me. I hope this helps.

Broke within 2 years - SAMSUNG absolute nightmare to deal with – Freezer broke, Samsung accepted responsibility, never collected, had to go to fair trading to receive refund. So much time wasted, many calls made and letters written. I will never buy Samsung products again. Show details
It doesn’t cool after 3 years! – We bought this fridge in 2017 but after about three years the fridge doesn’t cold enough. The warranty is just 1 year and it doesn’t worth to repair or charge the cooling gas! Show details
Horrible experience with this fridge – We bought this fridge in July of 2017. From the beginning it made heaps of loud noises at all times of the day. The crisper door broke after about a year because of its flimsy design. Storing things in the door was near impossible because the fridge never got cold enough. And now it has stopped cooling completely after only 4.5 years. I would never buy another Samsung fridge. Show details
Like everyone else: faulty fridge – After about 3 years the fridge stopped cooling (freezer working fine). Appears the same as most other reviews. not cooling at all – I purchased this fridge brand new in Feb 2017. It is a very noisy fridge - loud sounds of something tumbling inside it are a daily feature besides other humming and croaking noises. fridge conks-off given that its never been shifted from the spot it was stationed! I spoke to Samsung Customer Care and they said im out of warranty so i can seek help from a local repair guy. I got it checked yesterday and the repair guy says in all probability its Control Board is faulty as it wont relay signal to compressor and that's why the compressor isnt working. He wrote to Samsung for spare part (PCB) and dint receive any response. In any case, if and when i do receive a replacement (which probably costs upwards $150) there is no guarantee that some other fault wont be detected.. effectively im looking at spending over half the cost of a new fridge upon repairs.. its like throwing good money after bad so I might as well buy a new fridge. My advice - Steer clear of this fridge.
Breaks down just after warranty...again with Samsung – Fridge worked all good until just after the warranty period ended and then the control board and diverter valve all died costing me nearly $500 to repair!. Easier just to buy another fridge. This is a common issue with Samsung products I have previously purchased. I won't be buying Samsung again
Totally stopped working after a few months – The fridge that was bought new for my parents stopped working after a few months, both the freezer and the bottom fridge stopped cooling. Terrible Purchase! – Bought this fridge from Bing Lee in 2017. 3 years later (Nov 2020), the main fridge compartment stopped cooling completely (freezer continued to work). month warranty, so I called Samsung back. They told me that in order to verify that the compressor was broken, I'd have to hire (and pay for) a third party assessor and that if the part was broken and thus covered under warranty, Samsung would only cover the cost of the replacement part and that I would have to pay the assessor and cost of labour to install the replacement part out of my own pocket. So basically, the warranty is only for the parts, you'll have to install it yourself. What a joke!!
My previous Fisher and Pykel fridge lasted me 10 years without any problems. I buy a Samsung, and it's done in 3 years. Horrible!
Will never buy a Samsung product ever again. Just terrible customer service!!!

[name removed] from Samsung told us that Samsung were unwilling to offer a solution and told me if I wanted to bring up my clearly stated consumer rights that I was entitled to a remedy, that I could not speak to her or anyone at Samsung about it.
The customer service received was appalling and I would not recommend Samsung fridges. If Samsung expects us to just throw a fridge out every few years and an average person lives for 80 years, does Samsung really expect every person to go through 20+ brand new fridges in their life time? That might be great for Samsung’s profits given Samsung Australia made $58 million this financial year in profit alone. But where do they expect these fridges to go if they insist consumers purchase a new fridge every 3 years? Is Samsung funding a landfill to bury all these fridges? It is highly unethical for such a large and well-monied corporation to create such low quality products and not assist consumers when problems are had.

Is fixing the thermostat unit after every 2 years a norm for this refrigerator? – After the first year of buying the refrigerator, the fridge stopped cooling down the foods. OK but shop around first, bad internal build – Fridge great internal/external design/nice layout. Stainless finish is nice. Nice to use and quiet. I have an ice box esky made of hdpe plastic, solid as, thick walled, would not crack. I guess manufacturers… Read more
like SAMSUNG like to cut costs any way they can and using thin plastic walls is one way. The thin walls also help the freezer cavity to warp as ice builds up underneath the poorly designed vents. Venting and icing: contrary to the manual written by the marketing manager, the fridge does ice up and does require de-icing. In fact, the fridge is so good at iceing up the entire rear "plus twin cooling" of the fridge may block and turn into a plastic pillar of ice. The freezer vents (holes cut into the exposed foam under the freezer) will fill up with ice and warp the freezer as described above. The water tray under the fridge (which is not mentioned in the manual) will fill up with water and leak. In summary, the fridge is OK, it does ice up even though SAMSUNG says it does not. Maybe they type tested the fridge with 3 cans of coke in it ?? The worst part of the fridge is the venting design coupled with the cheap internal build quality. Probably better off going with a better internally built fridge. Disappointing as it would have been a very nice fridge if SAMSUNG had built the thing without trying to cost cut on everything. Would have payed double for a fridge that was built like a bomb shelter.

Freezer broke within 3 years. Have seen similar problem on other reviews. Rear panel accumulated ice behind the plastic – Rear panel bulges out about 1 inch which means the ice maker can no longer fit straight. Disappointing.
Edit: If anyone else has this problem, it appears to be a fault with one of the temperature sensors in the fridge and with the temperature control knob. These are not particularly difficult fixes for a technician and the fridge may be worth fixing for those with a similar issue.

told this issue was a 'grey area' and I was to supply receipt of purchase, to which I did. Additionally upon explaining the situation it was confirmed that this product doesn't require defrosting.
On my second phone call I presented the date of purchase and the cost as requested and was told after doing an 'internal calculation' I was not covered for a call out fee to see what is wrong with the fridge. I then explained after doing some online product review investigation, it seemed that this problem could be quite extensive amongst this particular model, as seen in many of the previous posts, especially those manufactured in 2016/17. It was then escalated to a different team to which I received a phone call explaining that nothing could be done.
Looks like Samsung are happy to turn a blind eye to faulty products or they are happy to build crappy products that are not built to last more then 3 years. Either way Samsung could not even offer any advise over the phone as to what they think could be wrong with it, even though I'm sure that this is not the first time this particular issue has been reported. As per previous posts I really don't understand why Samsung will not acknowledge this issue. All in all I would not recommend purchasing this product or any Samsung products for that matter, for the shear fact that if there is a fault Samsung will not take responsibility.

Ice build up and water leakage – Our freezer keeps getting ice build up, behind the back panel and under the freezer floor. It also leaks water into the fridge area and on the floor. Samsung would not acknowledge that it was a known issue, but sent a technician to assess the issue (with the warning that we would have to pay a fee if they found no fault). Technician of course could not find the obvious fault given we had defrosted the fridge just a few days before, but confirmed that it is a known problem and applied a copper wire hack to prevent the freezer drain pipe from freezing again, so it will remain to be seen if this works.
While this 'service' did not cost us anything (other than some of our spoiled food) Samsung should have recalled all affected models or provided the aftermarket fix without consumers having to go through the hassle as described above, as the product is not fit for purpose in its current form.
