Totally stopped working after a few months
The fridge that was bought new for my parents stopped working after a few months, both the freezer and the bottom fridge stopped cooling. It took many calls to get Samsung to remove the old fridge quickly, so we can purchase a different brand and place a new one in the fridge space. Customer Service refused to compensate foos loss claim after months of emails and phone calls, my parents lost their medicine (provided receipt) and 1-2 weeks of stored food in the fridge during Covid. We finally gave up and agreed to the $150 compensation and when we got back to them, they simply said sorry you got back to us too late, we can’t compensate you now.
Purchased in September 2019.

Terrible Purchase!
Bought this fridge from Bing Lee in 2017. 3 years later (Nov 2020), the main fridge compartment stopped cooling completely (freezer continued to work).
I called Samsung to see if the warranty was valid and they said warranty was only valid for two years. When I looked through the manual, I noticed that some parts such as the compressor had a 60 month warranty, so I called Samsung back. They told me that in order to verify that the compressor was broken, I'd have to hire (and pay for) a third party assessor and that if the part was broken and ...
Read morethus covered under warranty, Samsung would only cover the cost of the replacement part and that I would have to pay the assessor and cost of labour to install the replacement part out of my own pocket. So basically, the warranty is only for the parts, you'll have to install it yourself. What a joke!! My previous Fisher and Pykel fridge lasted me 10 years without any problems. I buy a Samsung, and it's done in 3 years. Horrible! Will never buy a Samsung product ever again. Just terrible customer service!!! JustinPurchased in April 2017 at Bing Lee for $800.00.

Still extremely upset!!
Tried to post this on appliancesonline.com. au but system didn't allowed me. Bought a Samsung fridge S/N 0D5N4DAN300018H on the 30/06/2020. Got delivered on 04/07/2020. On the 12/07/2020 freezer stopped working, and seems that temperature never sets up. Tried contacting appliancesonline (calls, emails etc..), waited and wasted my time in the line for at least 40min with no success, trying to solve my problem with Samsung, got the technician on 24/07/2020 and he did nothing to fix it. Since then, I'm wasting my food, my time and data plans, call...
Read mores, SMS messages and emails for nothing. I will never buy it again and I do not recommend this to my worst enemy. This is unbelievable that a new fridge can present a lot of problems. Last update 31/08/2020, I keep getting calls from Samsumg, back a few weeks ago I was promised to have a $200 dollars Coles voucher to supply some of my food loss, never get this one NEVER... Also, Samsung still calling me from Private Numbers fudging such information and requesting me satisfaction surveys ...what a joke... Now, got a call from a lady saying that I have to send email to all the shops that I have been to and request for a receipt (Woolies, Coles, Aldi and grocery shops. I think I wasted a lot o time already and tired with these companies appliancesonline and Samsung..Purchased in June 2020 at Appliances Online for $949.00.

Buyer beware.
As mentioned in numerous other reviews below, there is a major fault with this fridge. We bought this fridge less than 4 years ago and used only for 2.5 years before the fridge stopped cooling properly and would only cool to 10 degrees - our house is colder than that in winter! There was constant condensation build up in the fridge resulting in constant mould growth everywhere causing it to be unsafe to use and an extreme health hazard.

Read mored me if I wanted to bring up my clearly stated consumer rights that I was entitled to a remedy, that I could not speak to her or anyone at Samsung about it. The customer service received was appalling and I would not recommend Samsung fridges. If Samsung expects us to just throw a fridge out every few years and an average person lives for 80 years, does Samsung really expect every person to go through 20+ brand new fridges in their life time? That might be great for Samsung’s profits given Samsung Australia made $58 million this financial year in profit alone. But where do they expect these fridges to go if they insist consumers purchase a new fridge every 3 years? Is Samsung funding a landfill to bury all these fridges? It is highly unethical for such a large and well-monied corporation to create such low quality products and not assist consumers when problems are had.1 comment

never Buy Samsung , worst customer service worst product
Bought this fridge 4 year ago, around a year ago realize that back panel of TOP freezer started bulging and lately it has gone to the point , Could not even fit the ice box, contacted Samsung after a month of backward and forward they suggested to contact Samsung premium repairer . Took six calls and 3 weeks to get a repairer, came and took him 2 mins to say this fridge cannot be repaired and cost me $160.
then Samsung did all the hu ha for one month and this week they advised me that they niter fix the fridge(which I paid $160 just for call out) nor can replace.
I did not have fridge for 2 Months.. This fridge have very well known manufacturing fault guys . Never buy this.
Worst customer service ,

Died one year out of warranty with known problem
BEWARE. There is a known issue with this model cause the fridge space to stop cooling and repairs cost about $400. In my case, this fridge worked as it should for 3 years, and then stopped cooling the fridge compartment correctly. Warranty is only 2 years of course, so I called repair company. Repair man looks at it and advises me that repair will be $400 and that this is a known problem with this fridge that he has repaired many times. I call Samsung and request repair under warranty since this is a known issue but they refuse to repair it.
Purchased in November 2017 at The Good Guys for $800.00.

Is fixing the thermostat unit after every 2 years a norm for this refrigerator?
After the first year of buying the refrigerator, the fridge stopped cooling down the foods. As we were under warranty, Samsung fixed it by replacing the thermostat unit. Now it is 3.5 years old and it is freezing up everything in the fridge chamber. This time the Samsung helpline told us to fix it on our own as the warranty cover was only for 2 years. The question is regarding the quality; the fridge did not work smoothly for 2 years and we are again facing the same issue that was fixed by Samsung. What is the useful life of a refrigerator? Did we get a faulty unit? Or, is this a norm for this refrigerator to fix the thermostat unit after every 2 years?

Energy Efficent and sleek
Had to downsize the fridge and purchased this one. Pros: are that its quiet, its pretty and it doesnt leave fingerprints. Compartments are easily adjustable and the freezer can be converted into additional fridge space.
Cons: the freezer doesnt contain a light, which i didnt think this would be a problem until you dont have it. Its small, good for a couple but i wouldnt think for a family.
I have a seprate freezer and have used the 'twin' fridge for extra space when needed. but otherwise i wouldnt see much of a use unless you already have an enternal freezer. at $599 it was a very good price !

Fridge great internal/external design/nice layout. Stainless finish is nice. Nice to use and quiet. However the inside walls are poor, very thin plastic, after 1 week put deep crack through freezer wall after frozen meat fell down from top. I have an ice box esky made of hdpe plastic, solid as, thick walled, would not crack. I guess manufacturers like SAMSUNG like to cut costs any way they can and using thin plastic walls is one way. The thin walls also help the freezer cavity to warp as ice builds up underneath the poorly designed vents.

Freezer broke within 3 years. Have seen similar problem on other reviews. Rear panel accumulated ice behind the plastic
Rear panel bulges out about 1 inch which means the ice maker can no longer fit straight. In fact as it expanded it pushed the ice machine forward and opened the door while I was at work spoiling all of my food! Now ice maker only fits side ways. Bottom plastic also has ice behind causing it to bubble. Absolute joke of a product. Waste of money. Possibly even dangerous As the freezer is changing shape. Could cause fire or gas leak.
Also very loud. Makes cracking noises constantly which are annoying when watching tv. Again seen others have experienced same problems.
Purchased in September 2016 at The Good Guys for $850.00.

A lemon which won't cool
Just doesn't get down to a safe temperature - on the maximum setting, it's at best 7 degrees, which just doesn't cut it and may actually be unsafe from a food safety perspective. On a lower setting, or in less ideal conditions the temperature is even higher and definitely unsafe.
Much of the plastic inside is pretty flimsy as well, with parts breaking off too easily.
Disappointing.
Edit: If anyone else has this problem, it appears to be a fault with one of the temperature sensors in the fridge and with the temperature control knob. These are not particularly difficult fixes for a technician and the fridge may be worth fixing for those with a similar issue.

Faulty Fridge
Purchased in May 2016 from the Good Guys. Worked well up until last year, where the entire back panel in the fridge and freezer is now completely frozen with ice build up. We keep the temperature on optimal and have checked that there are no issues with the seal. Have recently reported this to Samsung (reference number 8217224957). Initially I was told this issue was a 'grey area' and I was to supply receipt of purchase, to which I did. Additionally upon explaining the situation it was confirmed that this product doesn't require defrosting.

Read moren my second phone call I presented the date of purchase and the cost as requested and was told after doing an 'internal calculation' I was not covered for a call out fee to see what is wrong with the fridge. I then explained after doing some online product review investigation, it seemed that this problem could be quite extensive amongst this particular model, as seen in many of the previous posts, especially those manufactured in 2016/17. It was then escalated to a different team to which I received a phone call explaining that nothing could be done. Looks like Samsung are happy to turn a blind eye to faulty products or they are happy to build crappy products that are not built to last more then 3 years. Either way Samsung could not even offer any advise over the phone as to what they think could be wrong with it, even though I'm sure that this is not the first time this particular issue has been reported. As per previous posts I really don't understand why Samsung will not acknowledge this issue. All in all I would not recommend purchasing this product or any Samsung products for that matter, for the shear fact that if there is a fault Samsung will not take responsibility.Purchased in May 2016 at The Good Guys for $890.00.

Ice build up and water leakage
Our freezer keeps getting ice build up, behind the back panel and under the freezer floor. It also leaks water into the fridge area and on the floor. We defrost thoroughly and drains are not blocked and then it happens again. This appears to be an issue with Samsung fridges, and of course the first time it happened it was just out of warranty.
Samsung would not acknowledge that it was a known issue, but sent a technician to assess the issue (with the warning that we would have to pay a fee if they found no fault). Technician of course could no...
Read moret find the obvious fault given we had defrosted the fridge just a few days before, but confirmed that it is a known problem and applied a copper wire hack to prevent the freezer drain pipe from freezing again, so it will remain to be seen if this works. While this 'service' did not cost us anything (other than some of our spoiled food) Samsung should have recalled all affected models or provided the aftermarket fix without consumers having to go through the hassle as described above, as the product is not fit for purpose in its current form.Purchased in October 2016 at The Good Guys for $850.00.

Gave me an indoor pool.
Bought in March of 2019 and within 2 months already had to have a technician come out and replace a part. Still had a few issues like loud cracking and poor cooling also getting really warm on the outside. Then a week ago the fridge had leaked all over the kitchen floor. Called samsung and where it was purchased from and had pretty poor service from both. Seems I will be waiting for well over a week for a technician to come out and assess the fridge. Pretty poor service and a pretty poor product. Also companies don't seem to understand Australian Consumer Law as this is a major fault.
