acknowledging that they had received our proof of cleaning. Two days before the settlement date, Katie rang my husband and was abusive and unprofessional. She claimed that our house was filthy and that we had not upheld our contract. When my husband informed Katie that we had paid for the house to be professionally cleaned and that we had sent Sargeants our receipt, she accused him of lying to her. My husband rang our real estate concerned that our house may have been vandalised. The real estate informed us that the property was very clean and that the buyer was upset about how a few minor aspects of the house had been cleaned. My husband rang Katie back and discussed his conversation with the real estate. Katie admitted that the receipt we had sent was received by one of her coworkers, but that she had not received it prior to their conversation. She did not apologise for Sargeants’ lack of internal communication, or for her unprofessional behaviour. We hope to discourage others from hiring Sargeants services, so that they do not have to pay for an arrogant and unprofessional conveyancer.

without even knowing if the land was able to be built on, as he hadn't even checked that, that I would not hesitate to commence legal proceedings. He then ended our contract to act, refunded my money, closed the file, and get this - hours later, contacted the agent, informed that a refund of the deposit was to be paid immediately, and that I was no longer purchasing the property, and exercising the legal right to end the purchase contract. Now, considering he never told me any of this, and wasn't even acting for me any more, what do you reckon would have happened to my deposit? If the agent hadn't called me at almost midnight, then forwarded the email from this a...hole, I wouldn't have been any the wiser. Slow, expensive and inaccurate – The rates in the contract were quoted as more than $11,000.00 when it finally came through which I had to query with them, even though it was too late anyway, only to be told it was a "typo" the correct amount was ~$1000.00 - these people were reviewing a detailed contract for me... My contract review was delayed in-part, because the request for payment upfront before any work was done, was not requested or provided to me to begin with. My bid on a property was time sensitive and I missed out. While waiting eagerly for something to come through I was receiving calls from the real estate agent and when I called the office the receptionist was quite strange about clarifying what her role was even though I was not rude or pushy, and said she will have to just leave a message with the person who was dealing with my contract. The amount I was quoted should the sale complete was at the top range of what conveyancing should cost for a straightforward transaction which I now realise in hindsight. There was almost no acknowledgement of the terrible service I'd received, a final email apologising for the delay and "looking forward to working with me in future"... not likely. My God. Don't use them.

Excellent service – This is the third time I have used Sargents and Lorena at Altona is professional, prompt and very patient with answering questions and explaining the details of requirements. I highly recommend Sargents for conveyancing requirements.

Consumers deserve better – Balwyn office: Have worked in the real estate industry for 20 years. This is one of the most unprofessional conveyancing organisations I have ever dealt with. My recommendation is to avoid this company. Many other more reputable conveyancers out there. The 'finance broker' linked to this business failed to return my calls and only did so by error (had called from another number). She should also be avoided. Rude and arrogant.

Unprofessional and worst communicated Conveyance – Never ever use sargeant hawthorn. They are unprofessional and unethical. No communications or appropriate advice given when require. Make us lost a lot of money. Uncapable to represent client. Never recommend.

Sargeants conveyancers Dandenong UNPROFESSIONAL – The worst experience ever! No respect for the client, acting without consent, not answering calls and hanging up the phone because you asked for a document! Unprofessional and ridiculous! Given it was hard enough to get the initial engagement paperwork (despite numerous emails/calls to them) I lost confidence in their ability to deliver on time and said that I will not be using their services. They have now sent me an invoice for ‘work’ performed in opening a file and sending me their quote. Interesting that this 'fees for no service' still goes on given the recent royal commission and the behavior within the finance and related services industries.

Failed to complete paperwork accurately – We had sargeants do our conveyancing which was arranged by our mortgage broker. We were never provided the final paperwork which they submitted on our behalf and they incorrectly stated our property was a rental when it was a primary residence. Which resulted in issues with our Water bills not being supplied followed by us paying land tax for 5… Read more

years when we should never have been paying it in the first place. You pay a company to do the work they should get it right, it wasnt like they could get the fact it was our primary residence wrong, we claimed the first home owner grant which isnt possible unless you reside in the property. So all up they resulted in us financially out of pocket in excess of $4000. When I tried contacting them about this issues there was no follow up on their end or action taken to fix the issue. They got their money and thats all they cared about. All I can say is beware and if you intend to you the, request copies of the paper work they are submitting and review it (although really why are you paying them if they cant get it right).
